Evidence of Discipleship: Where Are the Signs?
The podcast emphasizes Jesus' promise from Mark 16: that signs would follow true believers, such as casting out demons, speaking in new tongues, and healing the sick. It challenges the modern church's lack of supernatural evidence and encourages believers to return to a faith that produces tangible signs. Key hindrances blocking the demonstration of power include unbelief, fear of judgment, comfort, unrepentant sin, and ignorance. The podcast calls for a revival of intimacy, boldness, and Spirit-led living to witness these signs. It promotes active participation in faith, urging listeners to step out, demonstrate God's power, and be evidence that Jesus is alive.

Jesus made a clear promise in Mark 16: signs would follow those who believe. Not just pastors, not just apostles anyone who truly believes. Yet today, many churches are full of words but empty of power. The supernatural has become rare, not because God has changed, but because we have. We’ve accepted a version of Christianity that talks about Jesus but doesn’t walk like Him.
This series is a challenge to return to biblical discipleship. It explores the promise of signs, the reason we’re not seeing them, and the steps to recover what’s been lost. If your faith isn’t producing evidence, it’s time to ask why, and more importantly, to pursue the kind of belief that activates the power of God.
Understanding the Promise
Jesus said signs will follow those who believe. So if we claim to believe, why don’t we see those signs in most churches today?
Mark 16:17-18 says,
“And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons, they will speak in new tongues, they will pick up serpents with their hands, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them, they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
That’s not symbolic. That’s not poetic. That’s a direct statement from Jesus about what should follow believers.
He didn’t say, “These signs will follow pastors.”
He didn’t say, “These signs will follow the apostles.”
He said, “Those who believe.”
These signs were never meant to be rare. They were supposed to be normal for anyone who truly follows Christ. They were proof that Jesus is alive and His Spirit is at work in us.
So if the signs aren’t showing up, the issue isn’t with God. The issue is with us.
We’ve settled for a version of faith that talks about Jesus but doesn’t walk in His power. We’ve made church a routine instead of a place of equipping. We’ve replaced demonstration with discussion.
But here’s the truth:
If you believe, these signs should follow you. If they’re not, it’s time to ask why.
Are we walking in true faith or just religious form? Are we willing to be vessels God can use, or are we comfortable being spectators?
This week, go back to Mark 16:17-18. Read it slowly. Pray over it. Ask God to show you what’s missing. Because what Jesus promised is still available, but only to those who believe Him enough to live it out.
The evidence is supposed to follow you. The question is… will it?
The Reality in Churches Today
Jesus made a bold promise. He said signs would follow those who believe.
But let’s be honest. In most churches today, they don’t.
We don’t regularly see demons cast out.
We don’t often see the sick healed on the spot.
Many believers are afraid of spiritual gifts, unsure of what to expect or even believe.
So what happened?
Somewhere along the way, we exchanged bold faith for safe Christianity.
We became more concerned with being accepted by the culture than walking in the power of the Spirit.
Some blame doctrine. Others blame tradition.
But the real reason is deeper: we’ve stopped expecting the supernatural.
We’ve normalized unbelief.
But God hasn’t changed. His Spirit hasn’t weakened.
The same power that raised Jesus is still available to those who believe.
The question is: are we living in faith, or in form?
The Discipleship Disconnect
Being a believer isn’t just about going to church or quoting Scripture.
It’s about following Jesus in word and in power.
Too many today claim discipleship without evidence.
But in the Bible, believing was always backed up by demonstration.
Jesus didn’t just teach, He cast out demons, healed the sick, and moved in power.
And He said, “Follow Me.” That means living like Him. Not just learning about Him.
The early church didn’t just sit in pews.
They prayed, fasted, obeyed, and turned the world upside down with power.
If your faith doesn’t produce evidence, it’s time to ask:
Am I truly following, or just watching from a distance?
Hindrances to Power!
If you believe, and Jesus promised signs, but you’re not seeing them, what’s the blockage?
Here are some common hindrances:
Unbelief! – You can’t walk in what you don’t believe is possible.
Fear of man! – Too many believers are silent because they fear judgment more than disobedience.
Comfort! – Real power comes through pressing in, but many don’t want to stretch beyond routine.
Sin! – Unrepentant sin dulls your spiritual authority.
Ignorance! – Many simply don’t know who they are in Christ or what they carry.
But when you remove the barriers, the flow begins.
Jesus never said you had to be perfect, but you do have to be willing and believing.
Returning to Biblical Christianity
The church doesn’t need more events. We need more evidence.
We need to get back to the model Jesus gave,
Faith that moves. Love that acts. Power that follows.
This starts with intimacy with God.
You can’t demonstrate His power if you’re distant from His presence.
You must know Him, walk with Him, and trust Him.
You must be willing to step out even when you feel inadequate.
God is still looking for vessels. Not perfect ones, just surrendered ones.
If we want to see the signs, we need to return to obedience, boldness, and Spirit-led living.
Testimonies and Activation!
The signs are already happening, but mostly among those who believe enough to act.
There are believers casting out demons right now.
There are believers laying hands on the sick and seeing them recover.
There are believers walking boldly in the Spirit, and you can be one of them.
God isn’t looking for spectators. He’s calling participants.
Today, pray for boldness. Ask the Holy Spirit to stir up faith in you.
Start by laying hands on someone and believing.
Speak with authority. Declare healing. Cast out darkness.
Don’t wait for a platform. Your obedience is your platform.
You are called to be evidence that Jesus is alive.
Let the signs follow you.
