My presence will go with you and I will give you rest. Exodus 33, verse 14.

Moses' Dependence on God's Presence

When Moses stood before the Lord leading a stubborn and wandering people, he made one thing clear. He would not move forward without God's presence. He understood something. We often forget. God's presence is not just comforting.

It is powerful. It is his presence that gives us strength, direction, and peace. The distinction Moses made, Israel had God's promise of a land flowing with milk and honey, but Moses did not want the blessing without the presence. He prayed. If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here.

Exodus 33, verse 15. In other words, Moses was saying, God, I don't want success without you. I don't want progress. If it means leaving you behind. I'd rather remain in the wilderness with you than enter the promised Land without you.

The True Prize: God's Presence Over Blessings

This is a powerful reminder for us. Too often, we pursue the blessing of God more than the presence of God, but blessings without his presence will leave us empty.

His presence is the true prize, the power that comes with his presence, peace and chaos. His presence brings rest to the restless heart, no matter the storm. His presence calms us.

Jesus' Promise of Peace

Jesus said, peace. I leave with you. My peace I give to you. John 14, verse 27.

Strength in Weakness: Paul's Declaration

Strength in weakness. When we feel inadequate, his presence empowers us.

Paul declared, when I am weak, then I am strong. Second Corinthians 12, verse 10.

Guidance and Boldness Through God's Presence

That strength flows from God being with us, guidance in confusion. His presence lights the way. Psalm 32, verse eight says, I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. I will counsel you with my eye upon you boldness in battle.

The disciples, once timid became bold witnesses, after the Holy Spirit came upon them, his presence turned fear into courage.

David and Goliath: Victory Through God's Presence

Practical example, David and Goliath. David did not defeat Goliath because of his sling alone, but because of the presence of the Lord that was with him. He declared, I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, one Samuel 17, verse 45.

The real weapon wasn't the stone. It was God's presence that gave him victory application.

Application: Relying on God's Presence

Do we rely on his presence when making decisions? Do we lean on our own understanding or seek his presence for guidance? When trials come, do we rely on our strength or invite his presence to empower us? When success comes, do we take credit for ourselves or recognize it was his presence that carried us.

Closing Thoughts: The Sustaining Power of God's Presence

Closing thought. God's presence is not an accessory to life. It is the very power that sustains it. Without his presence, our work is empty. With his presence, even the impossible becomes possible. His presence doesn't just go with us. It empowers us to live with peace, strength, guidance, and boldness. Settle for a life filled with blessings but empty of God. Pursue his presence for in. It lies the true power to live and overcome.

You make known to me the path of life. In your presence. There is fullness of joy at your right hand. Our pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16 verse 11.

Invitation to Pursue God's Presence

God's presence is a gift, but it is also an invitation. While his spirit dwells within every believer, there is a deeper experience of his presence that comes when we pursue him intentionally.

Scripture shows us that those who seek God wholeheartedly encounter him in powerful ways. The hunger that draws him near. David was called a man after God's own heart. Not because he was perfect, but because he pursued God relentlessly. He declared in Psalm 27, verse four, one thing have I asked of the Lord that will I seek after that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.

The pursuit of God's presence begins with hunger. It is the cry of a heart that says, God, you are my greatest desire above blessings, above success, above comfort. I want you.

How to Pursue God's Presence

How we pursue his presence through prayer, not just asking for things, but lingering in conversation with God. Prayer is not meant to be rushed, but a place of communion through worship.

Worship shifts our focus from ourselves to God. It creates space for his presence to manifest as we exalt him above all through. The word scripture is not just a book of history, but a living word that reveals God's heart. When we read it with openness, we encounter him through surrender. Pursuit is not just about doing more, but about yielding more.

We pursue his presence by laying down distractions, idols, and pride, the reward of pursuing him joy.

The Rewards of Pursuing God's Presence

Psalm 16 verse 11, promises fullness of joy in his presence. This is not fleeting happiness, but deep abiding joy that no circumstance can steal. Clarity as we draw near. He makes known to us the path of life.

His presence brings direction, transformation. The more time we spend in his presence, the more we are changed into his likeness.

Practical Example: Mary and Martha

Practical example, Mary and Martha. In Luke 10, Martha was distracted with much serving. While Mary sat at Jesus' feet, Jesus said Mary had chosen the better part. The pursuit of his presence requires us to slow down and choose him above business.

Final Application and Closing

Application. Ask yourself, do I carve out intentional time to seek his presence daily? Have I allowed distractions to replace devotion? Am I pursuing his hand? What he can do for me more than his face, who he is? Closing thought. God promises that when we seek him with all our heart, we will find him.

Jeremiah 29, verse 13. His presence is not something to stumble upon by accident. It is something to pursue with intention. The pursuit requires time, focus, and surrender, but the reward is immeasurable, joy, peace, clarity, and transformation. Pursue his presence not as a duty, but as a delight for in him. You will find everything your soul has been searching for.
