The hour we are living in is marked by a dangerous shift. What was once treasured as sacred is now dismissed as unnecessary. The call to repentance has grown, faint, drowned out by the clamor of self-centered messages, holiness. Once seen as the very mark of belonging to Christ is now treated as an outdated relic.

This generation plagued with itching ears does not want to hear about repentance or holiness. It wants ease, affirmation, and comfort. Yet without repentance and holiness, there is no true Christianity.

The True Meaning of Repentance

Repentance is not merely saying, sorry. It is not a fleeting moment of guilt, followed by a quick prayer.

Repentance is a turning, a complete change of direction. It is acknowledging sin for what it is, and surrendering to God's transforming power.

The Necessity of Holiness

Holiness is not optional for the believer. It is the very evidence that we have been set apart for God's purposes. The word of God is clear. Strive for peace with everyone and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.

Hebrews 1214, to reject repentance and holiness is to reject God himself.

The Rejection of Truth

The tragedy of this generation is not ignorance of truth, but rejection of it. The Bible is in more homes and on more devices than ever before sermons, studies and resources are available at the touch of a button. Yet despite unlimited access to God's word, there is little appetite for it.

Many would rather turn to voices that soothe rather than convict teachers who affirm rather than confront. The prophet Isaiah described this condition perfectly. They say to the Sears, do not see, and to the prophets, do not prophesy to us what is right. Speak to us, smooth things, prophesy, illusions.

Isaiah 30 10, smooth words feel good, but they do not save.

The Cross and Its Demands

This rejection is seen most clearly in how people respond to the cross. The cross demands repentance, the cross demands holiness. The cross exposes sin and requires surrender, but itching, ears despise anything that disrupts comfort. They want crowns without cost, glory without sacrifice, salvation without repentance, and blessings, without obedience.

The Powerless Gospel

They are content with a diluted gospel that demands nothing and gives everything, but the truth is. That is no gospel at all. A gospel without repentance cannot save. A gospel without holiness, cannot transform without these what remains is a powerless religion, a form of godliness that denies its power.

The Apostle Paul warned of this very thing for the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears, they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions. Two Timothy four, three. We are in that time now.

The Narrow Road to Life

Repentance is the doorway into God's kingdom. It is the first step of faith. The moment we turn from darkness to light, holiness is the evidence that we belong to him. It is not about perfection, but about pursuit. The daily walk of dying to self and living for Christ. To reject these is to choose darkness over light, self over Christ, and deception over truth.

The danger of rejecting repentance and holiness is that deception feels easier. It looks appealing. The broad road glitters with promises of ease, but it leads only to destruction. Jesus himself warned of this, for the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.

For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. Matthew seven, 13 to 14, repentance and holiness are found on the narrow road. The one fewer are willing to walk, but it is the only road that leads to life.

Transformation Over Affirmation

This generation wants affirmation, but God offers transformation. Affirmation leaves you as you are, but transformation makes you new. Repentance humbles you, but it restores you. Holiness separates you, but it empowers you. Those who reject these things choose bondage over freedom, illusion over reality, death over life.

The Call for a Faithful Remnant

Yet even now, God is calling for a remnant. Are people who will love truth even when it convicts.

Are people who will embrace discipline even when it stretches them, are people who will stand firm When the world drifts toward lies, the faithful remnant will not bow to the idols of comfort, compromise, or popularity. They will clinging to the cross. They will value repentance and pursue holiness. Not out of obligation, but out of love for the one who saved them.

The call is urgent.

The Urgency of Repentance and Holiness

Repent and be holy. Not to earn salvation, but to walk in it. Repentance restores us to fellowship with God. Holiness keeps us walking in his light. Without them, we are empty, powerless, and deceived with them. We shine as lights in a crooked generation. Let us not be among those who reject what God has made.

Essential. Let us not silence the voice of conviction or dismiss the call to holiness. Instead, let us humble ourselves, embrace repentance, and pursue holiness with everything we have for. In doing so, we will find life. Power and the presence of God.
