“But we have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16)

Spiritual Discernment

The mind of Christ allows us to discern spiritual truth that the natural mind cannot grasp. Paul said the “natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God” (1 Corinthians 2:14). With the mind of Christ, you see life, trials, and even people from God’s perspective.

Humility and Obedience

Philippians 2:5–8 says, “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who… humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” To have His mind is to embrace humility, selflessness, and obedience to the Father’s will, even when it requires sacrifice.

Renewed Thinking

Romans 12:2 teaches that transformation comes by the renewing of our minds. With Christ’s mind, our thoughts shift from worldly patterns to godly wisdom. We stop being conformed to culture and instead begin to reflect God’s truth in our reasoning and choices.

Compassion and Love

Jesus’ thoughts were filled with compassion for the lost, the broken, and the overlooked. To have His mind means to allow love and mercy to guide our thoughts and actions (Colossians 3:12–14).

Focus on the Father’s Will

Christ constantly sought the will of His Father (John 6:38). Having His mind means our decisions, priorities, and ambitions are filtered through a desire to glorify God, not self.

Daily Surrender to Christ's Mind

In short, to have the mind of Christ is to see and think as He does, to submit your thoughts to His truth, and to let His Spirit reshape how you process life. It’s a daily surrender of your own way of thinking so that His wisdom, humility, and love direct you.
