I want you to genuinely slow down and think about what I am about to say. When did Jesus or His disciples ever declare that the devil is angry? Search the Scriptures. You will not find Jesus saying it. You will not find the apostles teaching it.

Jesus and the Apostles' Teachings

Instead, Jesus said, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth” (Matthew 28:18). If He has all authority, what authority is left for the enemy to boast about?

When did the disciples ever make it a priority to highlight satan’s emotions, movements, or strategies? When did they ever spend their ministries dwelling on what the enemy was doing? The apostles did not center their message around the devil. They centered it around the Kingdom. Paul said, “For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified” (1 Corinthians 2:2). Their message was clear and focused.

When did they ever spend more time speaking about Satan than about the goodness, faithfulness, or mercy of God? David proclaimed, “For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting” (Psalm 100:5). The apostles echoed this same truth. Their preaching magnified Christ and exalted God. Nowhere do we see them giving the enemy more attention than the Savior.

So the question stands. Where did this devil minded doctrine come from? Why do so many believers speak more confidently about the enemy’s activity than God’s authority? Why do we give satan the attention he does not deserve?

Do you know who you are? Scripture says, “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). Do you know the God you profess to love? The God who “always leads us in triumph in Christ” (2 Corinthians 2:14).

The Authority of Believers

Let’s make it plain. Jesus and the disciples dealt with demonic activity with power and authority. Jesus said, “In My name they will cast out demons” (Mark 16:17). There was no fear in their actions. There was no hesitation in their command. They acted in boldness because they understood the authority God had given them. They healed the oppressed just as Jesus instructed, “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons” (Matthew 10:8). They cast out demons with a word, not a struggle. They freed the captive just as Jesus declared, “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed” (John 8:36).

They operated through the Holy Spirit to express God’s forgiveness, blessing, mercy, and grace. Scripture says, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you” (Acts 1:8). Everywhere they went, this power was visible. God’s forgiveness was extended to the repentant. God’s mercy was poured out on the broken. God’s grace lifted the fallen. They demonstrated the heart of God through the power of the Spirit.

Modern Church's Misplaced Focus

Now compare this to what many believers do today. Much of the modern church gives more attention to the enemy than to God. Some believers talk more about attacks than assignments. More about spiritual warfare than spiritual identity. More about devils than deliverance. More about battles than blessings. This is not the pattern Jesus left for us. Scripture already made the enemy’s position clear. “Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it” (Colossians 2:15). Jesus already stripped the enemy’s power. So why do so many believers magnify him?

What we see today is not what we ought to be doing by Jesus’ standards. It is not what we ought to be doing by the disciples’ standards. It is not what we ought to be doing by God’s standards. And God’s standards have always been clear. “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might” (Ephesians 6:10). Not strong in fear. Not strong in superstition. Strong in the Lord.

Call to Repentance and Renewal

It is time to repent. Scripture says, “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19). It is time to renew your mind. “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2). It is time to diligently seek the God you profess to love. “Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His face evermore” (Psalm 105:4).

Because the truth is simple. Living beneath God’s best is sinning against Him. “To him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin” (James 4:17). As a believer, that is the worst thing we can do.

But hear this clearly. It is not too late.

Conclusion: Return to God

God still invites you to return. “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (James 4:8).
