The Ministering Angel Podcast introduces its mission to deepen listeners’ connection with Jesus Christ through faith-filled messages, then teaches discernment between the Holy Spirit and the soul (mind, will, emotions). It warns that internal voices can sound spiritual yet come from wounds, fears, ambitions, or desire for control, and urges testing impressions against Scripture. Citing Hebrews 4:12, Jeremiah 17:9, James 1:20, Galatians 5:17, Romans 8:14, Proverbs 3:5–6, Luke 9:23, John 15:5, and Galatians 5:22–23, it contrasts the soul’s reactions and self-defense with the Spirit’s obedience, humility, surrender, and Christlike fruit. If guidance produces pride, chaos, bitterness, or division, listeners should pause, because the Spirit aligns with the Word, produces fruit, and glorifies Christ.

You ever notice how confident we are when we say, God told me? But pause for a second. Not every voice inside you is the Holy Spirit. There is a voice that feels spiritual, sounds reasonable, and even quote scripture at times, but it is not the spirit.

Soul Versus Spirit

It is your soul. Your soul is your mind, your will, and your emotions.

It carries your experiences, your wounds, your ambitions, your fears, and it speaks. The problem is not that it speaks. The problem is when we mistake it for God.

Scripture Divides Inside

Hebrews four 12 says, for the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit.

Did you catch that? There is a division between soul and spirit? They are not the same.

Feelings Can Mislead

Jeremiah 17, nine says, the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately sick. Who can understand it? That means your feelings can feel pure and still be wrong. Your desires can feel justified and still not be God.

James one 20 says, for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Sometimes what we call righteous passion is just offended emotion.

Discern Your Impressions

Before you say, God told me, ask yourself, was that conviction from the spirit or was that reaction from my soul? Discernment begins when you stop, assuming every internal impression is divine.

Soul Wants Control

Here is where it gets deeper. Your soul can fast, your soul can pray. Your soul can quote scripture and still be in control. The soul wants validation. It wants to be right. It wants protection. It wants comfort. It wants control. The spirit wants obedience. Galatians five 17 says, for the desires of the flesh are against the spirit and the desires of the spirit are against the flesh.

War Within You

There is a war happening inside of you. The soul reacts. The spirit responds. The soul defends itself. The spirit humbles itself. The soul strives to prove the spirit rests in trust.

Led Means Surrender

Romans eight 14 says, for all who are led by the spirit of God are sons of God. Being led means. Surrendering control. If you cannot be corrected, that is not the spirit speaking.

If you cannot be humbled, that is not the spirit leading. If your direction contradicts scripture, that is not divine guidance.

Trust Not Understanding

Proverbs three, five to six says, trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge him and he will make straight your paths leaning on your own.

Understanding feels wise. It even feels safe. But that is the soul. The spirit aligns with the word always.

You cannot follow the spirit if your soul is running the show.

Deny Yourself Daily

Following Jesus requires denial. Luke 9 23 says, if anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me daily. That means your emotions do not get final authority. Your preferences do not get final authority.

Your comfort does not get final authority.

Fruit Reveals Source

John 15 five says, whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit for apart from me, you can do nothing. Fruit reveals the source. Galatians 5 22 to 23 says, but the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

If what you call God's leading produces pride, chaos, bitterness, or division, pause. The spirit produces Christ-likeness. The soul protects self silencing. The soul is not emotional suppression. It is submission to truth.

Final Call to Discern

Before you say God said, ask, did this come from surrender, or did it come from relief because I got my way?

The spirit will never contradict the word. The spirit will always produce fruit. And the spirit will always glorify Christ. Learn the difference. Your life depends on it. Mm.
