Ares - Aeternus: The Roots of Dark Metal

Today we sat down with Ares, the founder of both the band Aeternus  and the Dark Metal genre.  Ares comes to us from his hometown of Bergen Norway and brings us through the history of Aeternus starting with his deep influences of classic rock bands like Kiss and the Heavy Metal gods we all think of today. Ares shares his methods of songwriting and some of the concepts through each album. He tells how he embraces nature and healthy living and how it’s changed over the years. Aeternus is going strong since its inception over 30 years ago and after finishing a European tour earlier this year, they head to Spain later this summer for the Drums of War festival August 27, 28 & 29, 2026 as well as dates at the Summer of Chaos festival in Brazil, December 2026!
