Defining Trauma and Resilience:
Here we are looking at resilience as the result of a process of fully incarnating. Almost all of us have had what I'd call an interruption in the incarnational process. We are not fully embodied and not fully in contact with life. There is a gap between the place where we are currently hovering (soul partially out of body), and the fullness of direct experience awaiting us when we land further into the body and the moment (achieving union between Selves and dimensions). That gap (our partial self-absenting) makes us vulnerable to life's events because here we lack the embodied resilience to handle the high charge to the emotions and the nervous system that traumatic events bring. Finding resilience through deepening our incarnational process helps us heal from past trauma and become stronger to face the present and future. This is the spiritual path as a movement towards intimacy with life, rather than a distancing from it.

And I, as the human self say yes to the highest version of me to actually show up and take over and take the wheel right now that is what I'm calling quote unquote the human inviting the soul in, and being that open, receptive vessel. The other side of that, that we can equally play. Is feeling ourselves as the one that is quote unquote, beyond the one that is maybe waiting to enter or the one that is looking quote unquote, down at earth. And we can literally visualize. Earth below us, we close our eyes, we look down, and maybe it looks close, maybe it looks far away, and we can find our human self in there. Almost like we're a satellite geolocating ourselves. And then we're zooming in with the camera and we can see, oh look, that's me sitting there, and we can choose to enter. Welcome to the Ground of Love. I'm your host, Olivia Frazao. This is a podcast for people who are deeply dedicated to the spiritual journey. You are here for self-growth care, for others, and being of service to the world. This podcast is in service to you to help you remember who you are and why you are here, you will receive inspiration, clarity, and no BS Love. We are walking each other home. Let's begin. This is a continuation of spiritual resilience. So We have not had a full match between the soul and the body. And We have been trying to make up for that in different ways. So the sword and the shield are examples of when we quote unquote toughen up that form of defendedness will create a certain way that we hold our energy that might make it very difficult for us to soften. There is another form, where in that case, maybe you're a little too soft. What does that mean? You probably call yourself an empath. You probably get really blown out by other people's emotions or strong energies or strong sounds or stimulus, this is someone who needs to gain a little more staying power. So I'm gonna focus more on what allows for staying power. I'm gonna focus on what is required for landing in, and that is, I would say, groundedness, centeredness, And the heart. I'm just gonna keep it simple as those three things. Groundedness allows for stability, safety. It allows us to slow down time. Centeredness allows for a sense of integrity, a sense of alignment and alignment with our intention. Heart allows for compassion and seeing beyond the limited self to all beings. It takes us out of selfishness and into generosity. Those capacities are going to help us immensely. When we are dealing with a difficult event, which creates a difficult charge. And as I said, are going to help with a coherent high charge as well, it would help with that too. So let's consider, now, let's say something difficult has happened in the outer world and we are upset. Our capacity for groundedness will keep us stable. Calm It's like, the unmoving island, when there is a storm in the ocean and the waves are going from one side to the other of the Pacific and the island is staying where it is, it's not getting moved. That's what groundedness allows for. It allows for us to not be thrown about. We gain groundedness by focusing on our roots, our connection with Mother Earth, our feet, our legs, our pelvis, and our lower dantien, our our belly, our first and second chakras, And is not just what you do on the cushion, it is also that, but it's also what you do 24 7 as you get used to holding your awareness in these parts of your body and of your field, regardless of whether you're on the meditation cushion or in the middle of a work conversation or in line at the supermarket or anything else, sitting in traffic, having an argument with your partner, whatever it is. Centeredness requires being able to feel our central channel. When we feel our central channel, we likely have a greater mental coherence. There is an alignment with the knowing that's beyond the knowing of the thinking mind. And there's also a stability here, and there's a capacity for us to be in integrity. When we feel our central channel, we enter into an aspect of our nature that is in integrity. Now the question is integrity with what? So as we develop our heart. We allow, literally meditation, feeling our chest, not our physical heart, but our heart center. That would be the middle dantien or the heart chakra. The fourth center. When we literally meditate on this area over and over and over again for years, it gains our awareness and our attention and more energy flow and it softens and we begin to be able to be love. Not just give or receive love, but be love where we are an open vessel of love. We are an emanation of love. We are a channel of love. It's not just, oh, this person loves me and I love them, but we are sitting as love, emanating love. And so through that practice then in daily life, there is more through our groundedness. Our heart centeredness and our central channel. our alignment, our centeredness we have a lot more strength, which is a spiritual strength, and this is the process of being more fully incarnated is the process of growing our groundedness, our connection with Mother Earth, growing our alignment, our connection with our true intention, with a greater knowing of the universe, not just our thinking, mind thinking, growing our heart, our open, soft heart that can allow for more compassion. These are examples or qualities or aspects, not all of them. I'm simplifying here. I'm just picking three, but I would say these are the big three that allow us. To gain our capacity of presence, to gain our capacity of resilience. When we care for our physical body, emotional body, mental body, energetic and spiritual. We have allowed ourselves to gain spiritual resilience. When we are working through a clean spiritual paradigm, not a dogmatic spiritual paradigm, that can really mess us up, any spiritual paradigm will not do. We need a clean one? What's a clean one? How we understand reality to operate and who we understand ourselves to be within it. It's based on oneness, unconditional love, equality, wholeness, unity, kindness. Generosity. Okay. These all sound obvious, people get very, very lost in religious dogma and all kinds of spiritual dogma. Okay? So this has to be a conversation for another time. But for now, we're just assuming that on the spiritual level, we are running a very clean, spiritual paradigm, If we are operating within a framework where we see wholeness, where we understand that we are infinite beings having a current. Incarnation in one of many simultaneously existing dimensions and identities. If we are aware of the capacity for our creatorship, if we understand what projection is, if we understand what true seeing is, if we understand that we have full support from those around us, but also many of those who are non physically supporting us and regenerating us in every moment, if we have certain paradigms like that, certain understandings of what's really going on beyond what the human eye can see, or even what the human mind can understand, that what I'm calling spiritual paradigm gives us faith. What is faith? Trust in what we can't see, trust in, what can't be typically scientifically proven, let's say it's not belief. Belief is Oh, I think so. Hopefully, probably, yeah. I'm willing to, you know, consider that and hope that that's true. No faith is. I actually trust this. I haven't seen it with my eyes, but somehow there's something in me that really knows that this is actually possible, not just a, maybe I'm actually banking on this. I'm actually betting on this. I'm actually giving myself to this. I'm actually leaning in a hundred percent to this. That's faith. Way bigger than belief. Belief is very brittle. Belief is a manmade construct. Faith is what's there when all belief has disappeared. Faith is what remains. Faith is the true seeing of the human self that can't yet see. Direct knowing is the true seeing of the true self that can see. Just direct knowing. I just know. But faith it's like the precursor to the knowing, okay, I know enough here, here, here and here that I have faith that over here, this is probably what's. What's there? It's like a puzzle, right? Let's say you have most puzzle pieces in place, but there's some gaps. You can kind of guess what goes into those gaps. You can see, oh, right here, there's a puzzle piece missing. But I know based on what's around them, what goes there. So it's like you can see, even though you can't see, right? Knowing is the puzzle pieces around. Faith is the one where the puzzle piece isn't there yet, but you have faith, you know that there's something there. Okay? That's faith. okay. mental, emotional, physical,, energetic, and spiritual. Okay. There are things that we can do in each of those categories that is going to strengthen us and bring us true spiritual resilience. Okay. We need to understand what projection is. We need to understand that every single thing that we see and experience is projection. We're taking responsibility for our thoughts. We're aware that they are thought forms, that maybe ours are not ours. And regardless of whether they're ours or not ours, we're aware that they are egoic content. We're not taking them, literally. We're learning how to deal with them. We're learning how to reroute to thoughts that serve us better or even to beyond thought. On the emotional level, we need to understand how to deal with our emotions. We don't deal with our emotions by thinking about them. Okay. We deal with our emotions by feeling them in our body, literally feeling them, allowing ourselves to presence them. not ignoring them, not talking about them, but actually noticing where they are in their body, what the texture is, what the density is. Maybe you see it in a certain color and maybe it has a certain tone, certain sound, and as we feel them, they move, they literally move locations and we, we feel it and we allow it to move, which means we allow it to express. And maybe it moves out through physical movement, maybe through sound, maybe through crying, maybe through yelling, whatever it is we allow it to move and we allow it to move in a safe way, right? We don't wanna punch a hole through the wall. We don't want to punch someone's face either. We don't wanna yell at someone, so those are the basics. Learning how to feel emotion in the body. That sounds easy. That is a massive, massive, massive practice of somatic awareness and capacity that leads to an immense capacity for resilience. Now that's not different from the other category, which is energy. Okay? So I could have put that in the energy category because when I say feel emotions in the body, I really mean you're feeling them mostly in the energetic body, although they're expressing out through the physical body and they could feel like a physical sensation as well. But what's really happening is your energy is moving, your energy field is moving, whether it's within the body or around the body, but what you're gonna be feeling is within the body at least most of the time. the fight, flight, freeze response will happen. We're learning how to start to feel inside introception, how to connect our awareness to the energy that's moving, that's presence, that's contact. We're learning how to contact ourselves, why when we contact ourselves, we're in the moment, we're meeting the moment, and then we can metabolize whatever it is. That's what presence is. That's what resilience is. We're doing it we're learning how to presence energy as it is alive and expressing, moving in our body, and we do the exercises that allow us to balance. open And strengthen our energetic field in order to, for example, have more groundedness, have more centeredness, and have more heart opening. All of those skills and all of those exercises are what prepares us as best we can each time more to have spiritual resilience. To be a spiritual warrior, it means we have more at our disposal now we have more real tools, not the sword and the shield, not the defendedness but the warrior, the one who knows how to presence the moment with acceptance, with compassion, with wisdom. With the mindfulness that allows us to make a choice rather than being impulsively reactive, but to actually think through a choice that might be a more healthy choice for everyone. We have the capacity to stay more, not totally, it's a process, but each time more we have the capacity to deal with things more. So whatever was hard before is not hard anymore. Now there's a new thing that's hard that now we're ready for that. Now we're dealing with, I'm now capable of negative 10 to positive 10. Right? Before I was only capable of negative five to positive five. Now I'm capable of negative 10 to positive 10. That's fantastic. Now, everything in those new ranges they're okay. They're easy for you. But it doesn't mean that that's all of life. There's always gonna be more, and then there's gonna be the next challenge. Okay, well how about negative 20 to positive 20 and so forth. Again, the more we are embodied and capable of dealing with the difficult charge, the difficult life events, the more we are able to be here ready for and capable of embodying the power that is pleasureful and generative and creative. And so vitality, the capacity to be here and to stay and to deal with difficult events, that's the same vitality that will allow you to be creative, that will allow you to be a creator. This is why if you consider someone who is, let's say, a really strong athlete, that's a really easy example of physical vitality, or even maybe, someone who knows martial arts, Someone who's physically meeting life. Would you consider that those people have a higher or a lower sex drive than the average population? These people are already full of life force. You would probably say higher. Why? Because sex is generative energy. Those are all vitality oriented Those are all charges related to creativity. Creating a baby, that's the greatest creative act of the human body is creating life. But our creativity can be creating all kinds of life. It can be creating a garden, it can be creating a painting, it can be creating a new business. It can be. Helping people through charity or volunteer work or whatever it can be, any type of creativity, dancing, whatever. All of that is the capacity to create more life, to create more positive life experiences we create When we're overflowing with life, when we're overflowing with life force, how are we gonna create when we're hardly here? There's not enough even to deal with the day-to-day issues. Imagine adding even more to your day, to your, to the world. We're having trouble dealing with the world as it is. Imagine where is your vitality to add more to the world? But once you bring in yourself into the, here, now into the body, once you say yes to your incarnation more fully, once you learn to hold a higher charge in your body, you are going to. Have the capacity for Creatorship more and more, you're gonna become a more creative person. You're gonna become a more capable person to do more in the world. Now, I wanna say one quick thing about holding a higher charge, which I mentioned earlier, but I just wanna reiterate. We learn how to hold a higher charge by, let's say, doing meditation, where we feel our roots, we feel our feet, our legs, our lower body. We feel our lower danien, we feel our lower centers, or perhaps we're feeling the energy going up and down our central channel. We're focusing on our central channel as a whole that's gonna help us with our centeredness. Maybe we're breathing in and out of the heart center repeatedly. That's gonna help us with our heart. Maybe we're doing yoga, maybe we're doing Qigong or Tai Chi. Maybe we're doing other types of physical movement or stretching, or other ways of moving and feeling our energy body again. I'm giving a few examples. There's a lot beyond this. There are a lot of different types. You're doing breath meditation. There are all these different things that we can do to strengthen our energetic resilience. Now, as we're doing those exercises, each of those exercises is inviting in a coherence between who we are, what I'm calling our soul self, and our body. So just to be clear,'cause I gave the example of the tough moment requiring the soul to kind of rush in right through that pressurization of having to survive. This is the non-emergency process of calling ourselves into our incarnation. This is the peace time process of calling ourselves into our incarnation. It's intention, wanting to, it's doing all of these exercises, which are literally coalescing us more and more into the body. And as it does that, as I mentioned, that click, it's like now our human self that was always here kind of waiting for the rest of us to arrive, gets to plug in to the life force that the rest of us, our soul self, is now able to provide. Right? And our true self is an infinite stream of universal life force. And so that's why we're able to hold a higher charge because we are the higher charge. Now when we feel that positive energy in the body, the coherent charge, that's life force. When we feel a negative charge in the body, that's basically distorted thought and emotion. But where does distorted thought and emotion come from? They come from whatever is hovering in your field, in your psychology, but they get triggered through external life events. Where does the positive charge come from? I want that. I want the ecstasy. I want the joy. I want the bliss of life. Where does that come from? That comes from opening and aligning our energy field that comes from releasing ourselves from binds in our energy field. What are those binds? Those binds are actually made by our human psychology. When we clean up our thoughts and our emotions, we're cleaning up those binds that are blocking our energy field. Everything is reciprocal. Everything is affecting everything else. When I clean up my energy. When I learn how to ground myself more consistently, when I learn how to center myself, when I learn how to open my heart, I am naturally going to be healing my thoughts and emotions because my thoughts and emotions are living in my energy field. So if I'm balancing my energy field, I'm balancing my thoughts and emotions naturally as a byproduct equally so, the more that I do my psychological work, the more that I clear my thoughts and emotions from their distorted state and bring them into a state of coherent seeing and feeling the more my energy field is not gonna be bound in so many places by what was previously there, blocking it all over the place. So everything affects each other. And the less bound my energy field, the more flowing my energy field is, the more my true self is able to come forth and shine, the more that life force is naturally here. And I then I'm vibing with myself inside. And when there's somebody actually here in me now I'm strong. If someone pokes me, I'm not gonna fall over. If someone has a big feeling, a big emotion in their own body, I'm not just like an empty, floppy puppet,. That's gonna start getting filled with their emotion. cause there's nothing filling me at this point. So something's gonna fill me and now it's them instead of myself. That's called being an empath. That's called being hypersensitive. That's called not having boundaries. What's a boundary is you being inside yourself rather than somebody else. We think a boundary is pushing someone else out. No, A boundary isn't about pushing someone else out. It's about putting yourself in. Once you put yourself in, there's no room for anybody else to be in there anyway. They naturally get pushed out. You don't have to elbow your way. To holding a boundary. You don't have to have a big fight with a person. You gotta choose yourself. You gotta be like, oops, I got filled with other people's shit. It's not on them. That's on me. That means I wasn't home. I had an empty carcass of a house. And other people's shit randomly floated into it because nobody was manning the ship over here. Nobody was home to say, oops, sorry. Uh, there's already someone in this parking spot. You can't park here. It's not like, how dare you park in my parking spot? No. Fill your parking spot with your own car. I know I'm mixing a lot of metaphors, but I think you're getting the point. Find your own self. Find your own life force. Say yes to your own embodiment. That's your boundary. That's where boundary comes from. It's like, oh, I'm full actually over here. I'm full with what? With me! I'm full with me and there's no never ending to this.'cause the me that I'm full with is my infinite. Ever blossoming nature. My infinite source, stream of infinite energy, consciousness of my true self. That's who's here and that's who is capable of handling whatever charges of the outer world.'cause you're already with your own inner coherent charge of your own inner true energy. So there's some charge going on over there. Whatever. I'm already here. Bring it on. I'm present. Oh, you got that going on. Okay, well here I am. Let's talk. Right? Versus, oh my God, I'm not even here. I'm not even prepared. I'm not even embodied. I don't even, oh, now I'm filled with God knows what. Ah, I'm gone. I'm saying this as if it's easy. It's not easy. It's extremely difficult. And it takes time and it takes practice. And there's levels and levels and some stuff is easy and other stuff is still hard. And we keep going. No judgment around it. It's just the path It's an invitation, and so that positive charge that we want, that's what keeps growing in us. That positive coherence, that energy, that's what keeps growing in us. When we keep opening our groundedness, as my teacher, Ron says, the more you open your roots, the more you ground yourself. You connect yourself with Mother Earth, with your earth root, the more the more spirit has a place to come to. You don't need to go out a million miles outside of the stratosphere to experience yourself, find your body and bring yourself into it to experience yourself. Because after you die, you can experience yourself without your body. The whole point of incarnating is to experience yourself in it. That's the whole reason you came. Otherwise, why? Why live in a body? You can live in other aspects of yourself without incarnating. So we came here to do this, so let's do it. This is where we can consider the relationship between the human self and the soul self. So we can practice bringing these two aspects of self together. in meditation or in a particular exercise And we can feel how the human self can be a vessel that opens and says, yes, enter me. And that is a whole experience right there. And we are saying yes to being supported by God, we are saying yes to being supported by our guru, by our angels, by our deities, whoever it is that we're particularly opening ourselves to. It could be general or it could be specific, and we are also saying the goal of all of that is saying, show me who I truly am. Help me feel directly who I truly am. And what that literally means is I allow myself to fully be who I am here. Now we're asking for the here now version. We're not asking for it in some other dimension, in some other lifetime. We're asking for, I wanna truly be who I truly am here now. So if we wish to, we could even make it a more obvious invitation, like what I was talking about more specifically around, okay. I know that there is. A more open, loving, intelligent, coherent me that's not this one that's kind of bored or irritated or confused or whatever. And I, as the human self say yes to the highest version of me to actually show up and take over and take the wheel right now that is what I'm calling quote unquote the human inviting the soul in, right, and being that open, receptive vessel. Almost like we're a satellite and we're like geolocating ourselves. And then we're zooming in with the camera and we can see, oh look, that's me sitting there, right? And we can choose to enter. I very much advocate practice during peace time. So as I said, exercises. To balance the energy field, yoga and Qigong or some type of a meditation that focuses on. Grounding, centering or heart centeredness. Practicing feeling emotions in the body and letting them move, which is their way of expressing. And then the other thing is letting every single tiny life event in your day-to-day life, be your practice ground. This is crucial, extremely crucial. We don't wanna ignore small irritations or small, let's say, inconveniences of life. We do not wanna ignore them. We don't wanna be like, oh, whatever. That bothered me, but I'm just gonna move on. No, no, no, no. Analyze that. Learn about yourself, heal, whatever that little piece was, because every time you, you're chipping away at daily life, this is where you are ultimately gonna clean yourself up and ready yourself for the bigger moments. And then there's like the medium moments, right? Maybe a breakup or you know, you move and that's kind of complicated, or you switch jobs or whatever. Well, now you had the little moments of learning how to presence yourself, learning how to, be mindful of what thoughts you're having, learning how to reroute, and try to choose maybe thoughts that are more coherent and healthy for you. Maybe realizing how to presence your feelings, taking some time to learn how to breathe with your feelings, how to move your body so that your feelings can move, et cetera. You're doing that every day on the little things. Well, now that, that this kind of stuff came up, you have practice and then you work through this stuff, it's gonna give you a lot of experience. And then the big stuff comes really big stuff. Massive natural disasters. Maybe a really terrible moment of violence maybe a really difficult loss, I don't need to keep listing. You get the point, but now you're not coming in blind. You're not coming in empty handed. You're coming in as someone who has practiced. You practiced in the really tiny moments. You practiced in, the kind of bigger heavy hitter stuff. And now the emergencies are here. You've practiced, you're coming in with capacity, and that is the resilience that we all could really, really use a greater dose of. Let's practice during the smaller moments so that when the big moments come, we have the resilience and we have not the false resilience of pretending to be strong when we actually feel scared or having to toughen up when we actually really need to cry. Or thinking we have to control other people when really we need to learn, surrender, or thinking we need to do it alone, when really we need each other. No, we're gonna have spiritual resilience. Spiritual resilience means we know that it takes community and connection and relationship and mutual support to get through something. Spiritual resilience means that we don't need to judge ourselves or other people. We can experience compassion for ourselves and other people. Spiritual resilience means that we're not taking on everybody's energies and getting blown out. It means that we are in our own body and we understand who we are, and we focus on our own energy in order to keep ourselves more energetically clean. Spiritual resilience means we're not afraid of our emotions. We're not running from them and we're not foreign to them. We know how to feel them. We know how to help them metabolize through the body so that they don't get stuck. Spiritual resilience means that we're not actually believing every single thought that we're having about what's going on. We're aware of the fact that our thoughts too are a creation of the egoic self, are a result of past conditioning and trauma, and those too get to be healed as they come up. Spiritual resilience is a respect for human life and for the human body, and knowing that we got to take care of ourselves in all sorts of ways, and that our needs matter and that we deserve and need to take care of ourselves and to ask for help. Spiritual resilience is the whole person. It's the person who knows that feeling all of their emotions and being vulnerable in that sense is the act of strength and spiritual resilience is the understanding that we alone are not gonna get through this, not only as one individual, but not even as a group of humans that we need and always have. Spiritual support, whether you consider them your guides, your angels, your ancestors, your deities, whatever your thing is, the universe, God, the great mystery, great spirit, whatever you call that, this is what we ultimately turn to. This is what fuels us, and this is what helps us continue to connect with ourselves and our true self, not in simply the conditioned parts of us that grew up in a culture that told us how to try to be strong, but we can really reach towards the strength of God and spirit in those times, and that's what is actually helping us find our center again, helping us open our heart again. Helping us stay grounded or become grounded again, and filling us with coherent energy. This is how we can time and time again, each time a little bit more, learn how to stay present. Experience our spiritual resilience and be able to handle and meet life's difficulties and be even more open and available for life's beauty and become creators in life. This is true spiritual resilience. This is the capacity to be here. This is the capacity to deal with pain, and this is the capacity to embody pleasure. And this is the capacity to learn how to move through pain in a way that's conscious, in a way that has choice, and to have the energy and the life force to be able to create anew, to create that which we dream of and to create the world that we want. thank you for being with me in The Ground of Love.
