In this episode we consider the events of the Great Depression beginning in 1929. We examine why without a financial super power willing and able to bail out the global financial system, the events of 1929 quickly spiralled into the deepest and longest recession in history. Since then the United States has reliably stepped up to the plate to stabilize the global economy during subsequent shocks but with the administration now looking to tread a more isolationist path can we still assume they will take on this role in the future?
