I look forward to helping YOU become a Christ-Empowered Entrepreneur and Leader.

Hi there friend. I'm Kathleen Fisher. And today we're going to take a deeper dive into the connection between alignment with God and experiencing Christ's power within your business.

Specifically, we'll be looking at God's greatest desires for our businesses and the question of whether or not our hearts are aligned with his.

Why does this alignment matter?

Well, as we discussed in the previous episode called the power of becoming aligned with God,  when we are in alignment with God, the fullness of Christ can flow through us into the work he has called us to do.

But if we are out of alignment with God, we will find ourselves wrestling and struggling in our businesses, and yet, not understanding why we are unsettled, distracted, and failing to move forward in the work of God's call.

So let's pray. And then we'll dive into this important topic.

Heavenly father, thank you for this opportunity to learn more about the desires of your heart for our businesses and how your perfect desires set the stage for the beautiful and powerful things that you have planned for us.

Open our hearts and minds to receive, through the power of your holy spirit, all that you desire to speak to us today, so the we may walk in oneness with you, through Christ, and enjoy the wonder of building a business together with you.

We asked for these things. Through the precious name of your son.

Jesus Christ. Our Lord.  Amen.

All right. Let's dive in.

The scripture Jesus has brought forth for us today is Matthew 6 25 to 33.  In this scripture, Jesus is talking to us about our tendency to worry about God's provision for our lives, what we will eat and drink and what clothes we will wear.

We've heard this scripture often,  but if we're honest, isn't this the very thing we tend to worry most about? The provisional side of things. The income we will generate and the way it will provide for our needs, the needs of the business and our desires on this earth.

We start out excited about God's calling on our lives. And the direction he has set us in. We even begin with the faith to believe that if he has called us to this work, he will surely provide for us and for the work to be done.

Yet, before we know it, problems rise up within the business and we find ourselves toiling anxiously about the business, how much it's making or not making, whether we personally have what it takes to pull off the vision God has given us. Where will our next customer or client come from? And a host of other worries that come up within a business.

It's as if the business begins to consume us along with our once vibrant relationship with God.

Have you ever found the challenges rising up to threaten you? And cause you to doubt God's provision, and off you go working, pursuing, and even slaving for God's vision. As God himself slips away in your rear view mirror.

We don't mean for this to happen.

We don't want this to happen.

No, we want the opposite.

We want God right by our side. We want to have our heartfelt faith in God to override our fears, and to work vibrantly together with Jesus in the work.

But our fears and concerns about the things of this world subtly grab a hold of us.  And tend to hijack us into a type of slavery to the very work that God created for us to do.  The work he intends for us to joyfully fulfill through Christ, and the holy spirit.

Does this struggle sounded all familiar to you?  If, so then stick with me here.

Because I'm going to share a story with you about the day God revealed the greatest desires of his heart for our businesses. And why our alignment with his desires are the secret to becoming joyfully empowered by Christ. For the work that God has called us to do.

This story dates back a number of years ago when it was January and the holy spirit began to show me that the planning system I was accustomed to using for myself, should be transformed into a tool that others could use in their businesses as well.

So I sat down at the dining room table, opened up my notebook and said, all right, let's do this.  And the first thing I realized is that when we are creating our plans, we start with goals.

So I said, father, What are your top three goals for our businesses? And I was amazed by what he said.

Immediately, I felt the following goals rise up within my spirit.

Goal number one.  Grow in greater intimacy with me.

Goal number two. Grow and becoming the woman I created you to be.

And goal number three, fulfill the good works I designed for you, together with Christ and the holy spirit.

Honestly, this was not what I was expecting. I don't know why.

I guess I had never really thought about what God's primary goals are for our businesses.

But as soon as I heard it, I could feel God's heart for these three primary goals that he has for our businesses. It's as if he was saying, let me make this easy for you. If you will focus on these three goals in your business. Every year. And throughout your business days, you will fulfill the work I'm calling you to do.

So let's take a closer look at these three top desires or goals that God has for our businesses, and how they relate to fulfilling the work he is calling us to do.

Number one, grow in our intimacy with him.

Let's think about this.

Wouldn't it be true that if we leaned into God during our business days, we would also grow in greater intimacy with him as we worked?

And wouldn't that be fulfilling the first and greatest commandment to love the Lord, our God above everything else.

We could say that that would be reason enough to make it our first desire as well.

But true to God's nature, he doesn't just stop there. Because he knows that if we will focus on growing, rather than forfeiting, our relationship with him inside our business. We will also be in a much better position to hear him. To recognize his leading. And to receive the wisdom knowledge.   Understanding and power that we need to fulfill his will.

Seriously God is so infinite in his wisdom of making our growth and relationship with him. The number one desire and goal that he has for our business.

How about the second greatest desire for our business?

It is that you grow into the woman you were created to be.

Why does this matter so much to God?

Because he knows and has designed it, that we must grow into someone we often never imagined in order to fulfill his calling.

Just take a moment to remember some of those who have gone before us in scripture.

Take Joseph, for example. Whom God gave a vision of leadership to.

Did God just hand him the keys to that leadership. No.

He used tremendous trials to shape Joseph into the man he was created to be so that he would become the leader the world would need.

Learning to align our hearts with God's heart, for who he created us to be, and allowing him to use our struggles to shape us into that woman, instead of remaining the woman we tend to see ourselves as, is critical for our success in his good works.

So now. As we pause to consider God's third greatest desire and goal for our business, the actual fulfillment of his good works through Christ and the holy spirit.  We can hopefully see why goal number one and goal number two are so important for the actual fulfillment of God's work.

If we forfeit or bypass God's first and second desires for our business, we will not be fit for or empowered through Christ for goal number three. The good works.

Each goal is an essential piece of the whole.

Seriously, let's just pause for a moment to consider something.

Are God's top three goals for our businesses, what we tend to hear people talking about in the world when it comes to goal-setting.

Have they been the top three goals, we have been setting for our businesses.  Let's be honest. We tend to jump straight to goal number three as our top goal.

And then as we dive headfirst into the details of the good works, we quickly find ourselves forfeiting the quality of our personal relationship with God. And we resist the internal work of personal transformation that is essential to our success.

Oooph!.

But take heart. God is trying to show us that if we will first focus on growing in our oneness with him throughout each of our days. And through that oneness become who we were created to be in Christ.

Then as we go through the challenges and opportunities that he brings forth in our business days, we will be led by him in our businesses and empowered by him to succeed in fulfilling the good works that he created for us to do.

As God showed all of this to me, I quickly saw the disconnect or lack of alignment with God's heart that we're likely to have here. And I realized that we may end up feeling guilty when we hear about this lack of alignment.

But thanks be to God.

That's why Jesus is reminding us of Matthew 33, which provides the pathway to realign our wayward hearts, and empower us to fulfill God's will.

In Matthew 6:25 to 33, Jesus challenges us to consider how much we worry about our earthly provisions. And he concludes with these words.  Therefore do not worry saying what shall we eat? Or what shall we drink or what shall we wear for the pagans run after all these things? And your heavenly father knows that you need them.  But seek first, his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well.

Through his own words, Jesus is inviting us into the peace. The joy and the power of walking in alignment with the desires of God's heart for us in business.

For, as we seek God and his desires first. We will not only experience the joy of an ever deepening relationship with him, we will also become the women he has created us to be.  And he will empower us through a relationship with him for his good works.  And, as a good Father, he will provide. All that we need on this earth.

I hope you're beginning to catch the glorious connection that God is trying to show us here.

In his infinite goodness, God is looking to set us free from the patterns of this world so that we can experience Christ's mission for us to live vibrant spirit filled lives with God.

And out of that vibrant relationship, enjoy the fulfillment of his will for us in business.

Wow.  Thank you God.

So I wonder.  Would you like to replace your often forfeited relationship with God  with the vibrant and life-giving relationship that Christ came to give you as you build your business?

One that is filled with the abundant, joy and peace that only you can bring.  One that is infused with the glorious presence of Christ and your holy spirit, and that brings forth all of the good that you have created for us and for others.
