The Mistake That Sabotages Success and How to Solve It

Kathleen Fischer

As business owners, we continuously look at how to grow our businesses and we work hard to bring success out of our efforts.

But sometimes we are unaware of a critical mistake we are making that is sabotaging the success we are working so hard to create.

This is what I have discovered inside MANY Christian businesses.

It's not a mistake we mean to make, or one we want to make.

It is one we subconsciously make because
1. Few people are talking about the critical importance of  this  valuable resource

2. Few people understand the amazing power of this resource

3. Few people know how to consistently activate this resource

The SAD RESULT...

1. We LACK the wisdom and clarity we long for and NEED to follow the right path

2. We STRUGGLE with doubts and insecurities that HOLD US BACK from courageous action

3. We LIVE in a continual state of CONFUSION and STRESS

4. We FORFEIT  the SUPER-NATURAL POWER that exists to MOVE the business forward

5. We FORFEIT the favor of God in the marketplace

6. Our business STUMBLES and SPUTTERS when it is meant to be thriving.

7. We become DISCOURAGED and often QUIT, leaving God's will for our lives and businesses UNFULFILLED.

This mistake is TOO IMPORTANT to leave in the shadows.

That's why today, I am BRINGING THIS MISTAKE OUT INTO THE LIGHT to assess if WE are forfeiting what Jesus died to give us inside our businesses.

So that, if we are, we can FIX IT.

Join me in this episode for an important look at this hidden mistake that is sabotaging the success of our businesses.

I look forward to seeing you there!

I look forward to helping YOU become a Christ-Empowered Entrepreneur and Leader.

Hi there, friend. I'm Kathleen Fischer, and today I'd like to address the biggest mistake I see within Christian businesses, the deep impact it is having on our success, and how you can solve it.

Let's start with prayer and then we'll dive in

Heavenly Father. Thank you for the grace you extend to us every day, as we seek to build businesses that fulfill your call in our lives and impact the earth.

Please forgive us for the ways we forfeit the greatest gift you have given us for success and help us today to hear through the power of your Holy Spirit.

Cleanse us with the blood of your son, Jesus Christ, and give us a fresh start that is filled with his abundant life, so that your calling for our lives and businesses will flourish above and beyond all we can imagine.

We ask for this, Father, as we lean in today, through the help of your son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Okay, let's dive in.

When we feel God's call to build a business, it is an exciting thing.

We feel the energy of God, and we see the opportunities ahead.

But before we know it, the pressures of starting, building, and growing a business, consume our attention and we quickly become fixated on how we will accomplish all that needs to get done.

So when we rise in the morning, our thoughts are already filled with the work of the day.
We either dive straight into our phones, emails, and thoughts about our task list, or we may avoid them because they are too overwhelming to even consider.

Feelings of dread or fear can compel us to either draw back or push forward, depending on how we are feeling about our capacity to handle what's in front of us.

Either way, our flesh tends to rule our story and we become enslaved to its perceptions.

So we lean into the work of our businesses, hoping we will succeed more today than we did yesterday.  All the while, carrying the weights of our varied weaknesses, like balls and chains, attached to our legs, slowing us down, holding us back from the soaring that we long to experience.

Maybe you're one of the few that escape this sense of stress and weakness as you bounce into your days with a great sense for all you will accomplish.

But I've noticed that even the greatest natural warriors struggle with the fear of failure and a continual sense of pending overwhelm that drives them to work harder and harder as the business grows, leaving behind more of themselves and Jesus as they press on to bring forth success

all with a sense that this is how the story goes for all those who seek to build a business.

It's just the way it is.

But  What if we've got it wrong?

What if God has a greater plan for our business-building ventures?

One that is filled with His wisdom, peace, strength, and power that leads to supernatural success.

One that has us celebrating victories throughout our days, rather than fearing the defeats.

And one that has us going farther, bringing greater impact and experiencing a business that is thriving rather than faltering.

Well, today, I would like to pose to you that God does have a better way to bring success than what the world tells us.

It's one that is right in front of our eyes,  but we overlook it while we strain our vision to take in the ways of this world for bringing success.  Ways that rely on our self-efforts. That drain us of life, creating continual stress that steals our joy and peace, impacts our relationships, has us forfeiting Jesus and yet delivers no guarantees for success.

So what is God's way of bringing success?

God's way to success is found in the person of Jesus.

Perhaps this statement leads you to think, I have Jesus, but I still need to be the one who works hard to make the business succeed.  And that is just stressful.  Well, yes, we do work hard to build a business. But does God intend for it to be continually stressful?

Or perhaps you're wondering, what does she mean? I spend time with Jesus every morning. I know he's with me all day, but I still don't see how Jesus is the pathway to my business's success.

Or perhaps you sense that Jesus really is the way to build the successful business you know the Father has called you to build. But, you're not really sure how to walk in such a way with Jesus that truly empowers all you do so that he brings forth the supernatural clarity, wisdom, strength, and success that you long for.

Whatever you may be thinking right now, I'd like to address the biggest mistake that I've seen in our businesses that leaves our lives drained  And our businesses faltering when God intends for them to thrive.

This mistake is forfeiting the help of Jesus within every part of our business.

We don't mean to, but we forfeit Jesus help whenever we forget to partner with Him in the work we are doing.

And whenever we forfeit the help that only He can bring, we place ourselves into a stress filled. Self-focused pattern that drains our life and sabotages our business success.

Let's pause to think about this.

How often would you say that you partner directly with Jesus in the planning, implementing, and reflective work of your business?

How often do you pause during your day to allow the abiding presence of Jesus to fill you with peace, renew your strength, and empower you to accomplish the very tasks that moments earlier felt impossible?

How often do you lean into Jesus and the help of His Holy Spirit to solve the problems that arise continually in a typical business day?

If you are consistently partnering with Jesus throughout your business day, you are one of the rare few.

But if you're not, what is it costing you and your business to forfeit the supernatural help of Jesus within your business

and how deeply is it impacting the success of your business that you are working so hard to achieve?

This is a very important question.

It is one that we must answer.

For we are accountable to our Father, who sent His Son to not only give us eternal life in heaven, but to infuse us with Christ's abundant life, making us one with Him through the Holy Spirit, so that we can experience success in all the Father is calling us to do.

And not simply for our glory. But for the glory of his son.

Yup. This topic really matters to the father.

 So here's the good news.

First, Jesus is not condemning us for our struggle to bring him into the center of all we are doing within our business.  He understands our struggle and he stands ready and eager to help us make the shift to partnering with him.

Second, there are key habits we can develop that will transform the way we are building our businesses so that we can enjoy the continual presence of Christ within our work  and the direct help of his Holy Spirit in every thing we do.

Over the next four episodes, I will be sharing four habits that will transform the way we bring success to our businesses.

#1 -  Practicing the continual presence of Christ within our work.

#2 -  Learning to receive his help in every task we perform.

#3 -  Transforming our negative life-draining perspectives with Christ's empowering perspective that leads us into courageous action.

#4 -  Learning to walk in the power of thanksgiving that defeats the enemy and fills us with the abundant life of Christ in every thing we do.

The result, our businesses move from being life-draining to life-giving.

Our vision and plans become supernaturally informed by God and filled with his wisdom that leads us into success.

Our efforts become infused with the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit who knows the answer to every problem we will ever face and is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ever ask or imagine as he leads us to build and grow the business God has called us into.

As we partner with Christ to build the business, we discover, That we can breathe again as we, by faith, create time for ourselves, our families. and activities beyond our work.

We receive the blessings that God has intended for us from our work.

And we watch with glory-filled wonder at how God supernaturally impacts the lives of those we serve.

These are just some of the life-giving and power-filled results that emerge as we intentionally learn to partner with Christ in the fulfillment of God's call to build a successful business.

Let's pray.

Father God, Your love and passion for us extends far beyond all we can ever imagine.

We thank you for your continual mercy and grace as we learn how to partner with your son to fulfill the work you have planned for us on this earth.

We ask you father, as we go forth from this episode, that you will forever transform the way we approach building our businesses.

That in your mercy and grace, you lead us in your paths, that bring forth the blessings of success that you have planned for our work.  We ask for these things, Father, in the precious name of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Take care. Till next time. Bye bye.
