Speaker 2:Hello everyone and welcome back to this new episode of the podcast Joy in this Journey by Faithline. This is your sister in Christ, lauren, speaking to you once again, and today we'll be touching on the topic of our eternal God and his change in creation. We'll read different verses in the Bible, but we'll begin with a passage in the book of Ecclesiastes, chapter 3, verses 1 to 8. We're reading the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen To everything.
Speaker 2:There is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven. A time to be born and a time to die. A time to plant and a time to pluck what is planted. A time to kill and a time to heal. A time to break down and a time to build up. A time to weep and a time to laugh. A time to mourn and a time to dance. A time to cast away stones and a time to gather stones. A time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing. A time to gain and a time to lose. A time to keep and a time to throw away. A time to tear and a time to saw. A time to keep silence and a time to speak. A time to love and a time to hate, a time of war and a time of peace.
Speaker 2:With what we are told in this chapter of the book of Ecclesiastes, we can conclude that, in the end, all things are destined to change. Just like there is a time to be born, there is also a time to die, a time to build and a time to destroy. In other words, nothing is constant or permanent under the sun. And the truth is that we live in a changing world. Nature is always changing, society is always changing, governments and people are always changing, and although everything changes so quickly, we live looking for something constant that doesn't change. We long for stability and we seek security in things that, unfortunately, are destined to change. Why, why do we have this longing for something permanent and eternal in our lives?
Speaker 2:Verse 11 of this same chapter in the book of Ecclesiastes gives us the answer. He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity in their hearts. Except that no one can find out what work God does from the beginning to end. God has created us for eternity, and there's only one thing in this life that remains the same and doesn't change, and that is God. In other words, god has placed a longing for eternity in our lives that only he can fulfill.
Speaker 2:He has placed a need for Himself in our hearts. He is the only one in which there is no change or shadow or variation, as it says in James, chapter 1, verse 17. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. And in Hebrews 13, 8, it says Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. And even in the book of Isaiah, chapter 40, we can see the supremacy of God and his everlasting nature, especially in verse 28, which says have you not known, have you not heard the everlasting God, the Lord, the creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable, being God everlasting, unchangeable, unmovable, eternal. His creation is totally the opposite. It changes and is destined to one day end. So how can we fulfill and satisfy the longing that he has put in our hearts, the longing for and need for himself?
Speaker 2:One way is actually through trust in him, in him who does not change and remains the same forever. Jeremiah 17, verses 7 to 8, says blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose hope is in the Lord, for he shall be like this verse is that we just read in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruits. These verses that we just read reveal to us that trusting in him is what will keep us firm and unchanging even in the midst of the different seasons in our lives. Here we see how a person who trusts in God is compared to a tree that does not experience the effect of the changing seasons. It is not that the trials will not come, but that in the midst of all those trials, we can prevail if we trust in God. Just like the tree because it was planted in the streams of water and was well rooted when the different seasons came, when the time of heat came and the year of the drought came, it continued to bear fruits and its leaves remain green we can also be the same if we place our trust in him, who is eternal and unchanging. We will be able to bear fruits in the midst of droughts and our leaves will be able to remain green even in the middle of the heat.
Speaker 2:To finish, I would like to read this verse in the book of Colossians, 3-2-4, which says Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth, for you died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Thank you, lord, because we serve you, the eternal, trustworthy and unchanging God. Thank you for putting in us the longing for eternity that only you can satisfy in us, that longing for eternity that only you can satisfy. Help us put our eyes on you and on the things above. May, as long as we choose to trust in you, may we be planted like tree by the streams of waters, which take firm roots in you, lord, and that, even though heat and drought comes, may we remain with green leaves and may we bear fruits for your glory and honor In Jesus' name. Amen. God bless you all Until next time.
