Speaker 2:

Hello everyone and welcome back to this new episode of the podcast Joy. In this Journey by Faithline. Today I will be sharing something that has been ministering my life for the past few weeks, and I hope that through these Bible verses and these words, your lives will also be ministered and touched by the Holy Spirit. Join me in reading Ephesians 6, verse 12. We read in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit Amen, for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Speaker 2:

In the chapter of the book of Ephesians, paul tells the church that the battles they face are not against flesh and blood. The battle we face today and that the believers in the church of Ephesians faced was real but was spiritual. It is not against people, but against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of evil in the heavenly places. By reading this and understanding who we're fighting against and the seriousness of the struggles and the battles we have, we can feel some sort of comfort in knowing that what we're going through is not exaggerated. But also this verse reveals to us that we're fighting against great powers. If we come to focus on their ranks and the type of language that is used to describe those who we fight against, we can even come to question the chances we have of winning, which can sometimes even lead to fear. Yet before God revealed to the church of Ephesians who their battle was against, he encouraged them to strengthen themselves in the Lord, understanding that, just as their fight was not against flesh and blood, the strength they needed to be able to continue in the battle could not come from flesh either. He tells them in verse 11 to put on the full armor of God so that they can remain firm in the fight they face and that we face today. The truth is that, even though we fight against great powers of evil in the heavenly places, our weapons are not of the flesh either. Second corinthians 10 4 says that our armor is not of the flesh but is powerful in god for pulling down strongholds, knowing that, above everything, our victory is secure because we serve the creator of all things.

Speaker 2:

Colossians 1.16 says through him and for him, all dominion and all power were created by him, for him and through him, no power, no principality, no ruler of darkness can go against our God. Deuteronomy 10 17 says For the Lord, your God, is God of gods, lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality nor takes a bribe. Jesus already won the battle, triumphing over all power and, above all, the rulers of darkness, just like it says in Colossians 2, verses 14 to 15. Having wiped out all the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us, and he has taken it out of the way, having nailed it into the cross, having disarmed principalities and powers, he made a public spectacle of them triumphant over them in it and in ephesians 1, verses 20 to 21, which says which he worked in christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. Not only has Jesus already overcome and won the battle for us receiving name above all names, but he has given us the power so that we can remain strong and firm through any struggle we face.

Speaker 2:

In this same book of the book of Ephesians, in chapter 1, on verse 22, it says that he put all things under his feet and it gave him to be head over all things to the church, and a little later, in chapter 2, verse 6, tells us that he seated us together with him in the heavenly places, giving us everything we need to be able to conquer to the end. This is why, on several occasions, through different letters, paul, inspired by God, points out the importance of understanding and living knowing the hope we have in God too, and how important it is to know and use the weapons, blessings and benefits that we have in Christ. To this same church of Ephesians, he tells them that, having heard of their faith in God, he had an assist of praying for them so that God will give them the knowledge of himself, so that they will come to understand what was the hope they were called to and the riches of the glory of the inheritance that they had received. He also says something similar to the church of Colossians, giving them and telling us the importance of knowing and understanding what Jesus did on the cross and what that means for us.

Speaker 2:

In our walk with Christ. The enemy cannot destroy us. He has no power over us, having Jesus already won over him on the cross. Yet he tries to intimidate us, to make our time here on earth useless and unproductive, and he does this through temptation, sin, insecurity, fear and discouragement, but above all the struggles, attacks and battles that we may face. We can be sure that through him, with the help of his Holy Spirit, we can overcome by remaining firm. God has given us his armor and has seated us with him in heavenly places, and even though our battle is not against flesh and blood but against evil powers, jesus has all the power and authority over them. I hope this has been edifying to your lives, as it has been to mine. This is your sister in Christ, lauren. Until next time, amen.
