Speaker 2:

God bless you all and welcome back to another episode. Today we'll be focusing on wisdom and how it goes over vanity. Let's open our Bibles to Ecclesiastes 11, verse 9 and 10. And we read his word in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit Amen. Rejoice, o young man, in thy youth and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth and walk in the ways of thine heart and in the sight of thine eyes. But know thou that all these things, god will bring thee into judgment. Therefore, remove sorrow from thy heart and put away evil from thy flesh, for childhood and youth are vanity.

Speaker 2:

After reading this portion of the word, we can learn from the author solomon that during our childhood and youth years, we often desire and follow what we see and we see in others, and they're mostly vanity and they seem great in our eyes, but before God it's not what he wants us to seek or desire. Um. And from the word of God we've learned that our flesh is evil and brings us to death, and our heart is deceitful and wicked. And this is why you find Solomon bringing this up to our attention, and someone who sets a great example of desiring and following after his flesh and his heart sorrow is Asaph in the book of Psalms, chapter 73. There we find Asaph, who was envious of the foolish when he saw their prosperity and he desired to be like them. He desired to walk after them. And he says that his feet was almost gone and his steps will have not slipped, meaning that he almost ended up just like them. But it was not until he entered the sanctuary of God that he was able to receive understanding that what his heart and his flesh was desiring was his sorrow his own sorrow and the evil of his flesh, meaning that they were not really what God wanted. And he was able to learn in the sanctuary of God that his heart fails and his flesh fails, but God is the strength of his heart and his portion forever, meaning that, yes, his desire was to be and to walk as the wicked and to live. Live. But at the end of the day, what really matters is having and being able to have a portion of God's wisdom. God's wisdom goes above vanity because it has more value and it would help us to make it to heaven. So Asaph was able to remove his sorrow and evil by gaining wisdom. And how do we gain this wisdom that Asaph was able to gain.

Speaker 2:

We go to the book of James, chapter 1, verse 5. It says If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God that give it to all men liberally and upbraid if not, and it shall be given to him. Now wisdom is god-centered discernment, meaning that it's his guidance, is his desires, and upgrade, if not, means like he does, he doesn't rebuke in giving to men. So even if we failed god without having his wisdom, if we ask him and come with a sincere heart, he will freely give to us and it shall be given to us. So we have to desire it and we have to want it from him.

Speaker 2:

Open to it, because it also says in james 1, verse 21, to lay apart all filthiness and all super filial naughtiness and receive with meekness the encrafted word which is able to save your souls. So we can see from where it says filthiness and super filial naughtiness that this is the sorrow of our heart and the evil of our flesh. So we lay that apart, we put that aside and we open our hearts with meekness. We make this meaning willing to accept without resistance. And also so if we open our heart to accept without resistance and in craft, a word crafted a word meaning incorporate, to incorporate something in a permanent way. So we open our hearts, we don't resist God and we ask him to incorporate permanently his wisdom. They would be able to save our souls from destruction.

Speaker 2:

And this is the way we can make it to heaven and not lose our salvation, and to remain steadfast in the path that will lead us to eternal life. Because if we follow after our own desires, you know our heart is evil and our flesh is evil we will be led to the way of destruction. But through god's wisdom and guidance we will be led to an everlasting life, and a life in abundance and in glory, in his glory. And we can't follow our own sight. We need to have the sight of God through his wisdom. And so let's ask God every day to give us his wisdom that we can be able to set apart our vanity from our hearts, from our lives desires, and to fill us up, fill our hearts up, fill our life up with his wisdom, which can help us to be saved and to be ready for his coming. May he receive all the glory and honor, and I hope this word has blessed you and has blessed you the same way it has blessed me, and it's your sister, esther. God bless you all.
