From Spiritual Slumber to the Light of Christ: A Call to Awaken

"Awake, sleeper, and rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you." These powerful words from Ephesians 5:14 serve as both an urgent alarm and a loving invitation to believers who have fallen into spiritual slumber. 

Many Christians today find themselves going through the motions of faith while their hearts remain disconnected from God's transformative power. This spiritual lethargy leaves us vulnerable to our enemy who, as 1 Peter 5:8 warns, "prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." The sleeping believer becomes easy prey for an enemy determined to destroy.

God's wake-up call isn't meant to condemn but to rescue. He longs to transform us by "the renewing of our mind" (Romans 12:2), calling us out of darkness and into His marvelous light. When Jesus declared, "I am the light of the world" (John 8:12), He promised that those who follow Him "will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life." This divine illumination exposes what needs changing in our lives while providing the clarity and strength to make those changes.

The urgency of this message cannot be overstated. We can no longer live with "one foot in the world," conforming to its patterns and priorities. As we approach Christ's return, spiritual alertness becomes not just beneficial but essential. A sleeping church will miss the trumpet call; an awakened church will shine as beacons of hope in an increasingly dark world.

God bless you all and welcome to another podcast episode of Join this Journey by Faithline. And let's open our Bibles to the book of Ephesians, chapter 5, verse 14. Amen, and we read the word of the Lord in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen, Awake, sleeper, and rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you Through his word. Today, God is giving a call, call to all who are sleeping to awake from a spiritual slumber and to live in the light of Christ In this verse.

Paul's exhortation in Ephesians 5 is to live as children of light, and he encourages us and that time he encouraged them to avoid living in darkness and avoid living ungodly lives. Awake, sleeper. It's a state of spiritual empathy and complacency where believers are not fully engaged in their faith and are not living according to God's will. And these are people that God are calling. God is calling you because he wants you to live in the light. He says arise from the dead, which signifies a new life in Christ and a transformation, amen, from a life of sin and darkness to a life of righteousness and light and Christ is here to help you to be on alert, because in these days that we are living, we must be in alert.

There's a lot of attacks of the enemy, because his purpose, the enemy's purpose, is to finish with you. In 1 Peter 5, verse 8, it states Be alert, be sober-minded, because your adversity, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. And who is he seeking? One that is asleep spiritually. So he encourages us to be alert, to have self-control, urging us to be aware, aware of what Danger, danger of who? The enemy, when he comes with temptation, when he comes to surround us to bring us down, because that is his purpose is to bring us down and finish with our life. But God, because he loves us and he sees for us, he is calling us to be on alert, to be awakened, because there is an enemy, an enemy against us, children of God, christians, those who have decided for him and those who have not decided. God is urging you to come to him, because the enemy is out to destroy anyone that he can him, because the enemy is out to destroy anyone that he can. He is prowling around like a roaring lion to destroy, to devour. He is a dangerous predator, constantly seeking an opportunity to attack. And that is what he is doing. He is attacking everyone he can to finish with them, so they cannot come to Christ. God is saying come to me, don't settle for this world.

Speaker 2:

In Romans 12, verse 2, it says do not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. And the only way you can receive that renewing of your mind is only if you are awake. And who can awake you? God. And the call of God is calling today upon your life so you can be awoken from that spiritual slumber. There are too many that are taking it easy. There are too many conforming to the pattern of this world. There are too many conforming to the pattern of this world. But god wants to transform you by the renewing of your mind to understand. God doesn't want you to live that way. He wants you to live in light. Come to christ, open yourself to him so he can shine upon you. God wants to bring you into the light. You've lived long enough in darkness and God is encouraging us today, hallelujah. God is encouraging you today to be transformed. And when you're transformed, when your mind is transformed, hallelujah by the hand of God. Your focus is different. Your focus is on the truth of God. And when you're focused on the truth of God, your focus is different. Your focus is on the truth of God, and when you're focused on the truth of God, then you are living a life that is aligned with the will of God. So do not be conformed. Do not stay in that slumber. Do not stay there, but come out, because God wants you to enter in the light, because God is the light of the world.

John 8, verse 12,. Jesus declares I am the light of the world. God is shining light on you so you can see the truth, so that way you don't live. Hallelujah that you don't live in that spiritual slumber anymore. He says I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have light of life. He is the source of all spiritual truth and guidance. Following him. It leads us to the light, it leads us to understanding. It leads us to eternal life.

Speaker 2:

Let God lead you today, but the only way he can lead you if you wake up. Wake up in time to follow Christ, because he is. He is the way. So God today encourages you to wake up. He calls to believers to wake up from a spiritual slumber. Wake up because Christ is the light. Christ is the only way. We can no longer live in darkness. We can no longer live in two waters. We can no longer live in darkness. We can no longer live in two waters. We can no longer take it slowly.

Speaker 2:

God is at the door, he is about to call his church, and if you are asleep, you will not be able to hear the trumpet sound. And so, as Paul exhorts the Ephesians, god, through his word, brings it to us today to let us understand. We must be awake. This is the time to be awake and not asleep. This is the time to be alive. Rise from the dead. Rise from what's been wanting to bring you down, that's been wanting to keep you hallelujah. In that deadness, that spiritual deadness, god wants to take you out and transform your life from darkness into light, because when you step into christ, he will shine upon you.

Speaker 2:

It's time that us christians shine in these last days to show the truth to this world. We can no longer live a sleepy life. God has called us to be examples. We must wake up, and you that hasn't made a decision. Make your decision today. Get out of the darkness, shake yourself and let Christ shine upon you. So he is our source and he is what we need. And so God is calling you out of darkness, god is calling you out of that sleepiness, god is calling you out of that spiritual slumber. God is calling you into the light today. Walk into the light. God is here to work in our lives. God is here to free us. God is here to take us out of the dark. God is here and God is calling you today to awake. Awake, arise and let him shine upon you.

Father, god, we come before you in Jesus' name and we thank you for your word. Thank you, god, for speaking to us. Thank you, god. We come before you in Jesus' name and we thank you for your word. Thank you, god, for speaking to us. Thank you, god, for calling us. Thank you, god, for your love and mercy. You're calling us today, god, to awaken. You're calling us today to arise, god. You're calling us today so you can shine upon us, god, that we can, god, be testimony to this world of your greatness and of who you are, because you are the God of the impossible.

Lord, lord, god, may you work in everyone that's listening to this podcast. May you break the chains, God, of sin. May you take them out of darkness. May you take them out of that spiritual slumber today, god, that you can shine upon them. Lord, in the name of Jesus, god, you are here today to do miracles. Hallelujah, and I pray, in the name of Jesus, god, that everyone that is listening, god, to this podcast can, lord, experience your light today.

I pray that you take those who are in darkness out, God. That you, god, free those who are behaving ungodly. God, that you take them out of that. God, that you renew them, lord, that you renew their mind, that you renew their heart, that you transform them, god, to be an instrument in your hand.

Hallelujah, to reach others, god, that are living in darkness. To reach others, god, that are in a spiritual slumber. Lord, god, you want to take us out of that and you're calling us. Let us hear the call, hallelujah, let us hear the call that we shall awake in time, before it's too late. I declare God your word upon every ear, lord, I declare God miracles in the name of Jesus, that today, god, you can free everyone that is sleeping, that you can awaken them, god, those who are in darkness, god, can see the light and receive your light today, in the name of Jesus, and I thank you, god.
