The Call, The Battle, The Fulfillment
Have you ever received a promise from God that seemed impossible to fulfill? A divine calling that faced relentless opposition? You're not alone.
Drawing from Isaiah 55:10-11, this powerful episode explores the unwavering certainty of God's word—how it never returns void but accomplishes exactly what He intends, regardless of the battles we face. Through the compelling biblical narratives of Peter and David, we witness two very different journeys toward the same truth.
Peter's story reveals how even catastrophic failure doesn't derail God's purposes. From his prideful self-assurance before denying Christ three times to his beautiful restoration and emergence as the church's leader, we see God's promise prevail despite human weakness. Meanwhile, David's long, painful path to kingship demonstrates how external persecution and delays can't prevent divine timing, especially when met with humility and patient trust.
The contrast between these two men offers profound insight into our own spiritual journeys. Where Peter struggled with pride and self-reliance, David maintained humility and refused to force God's hand. Yet both stories culminate in the same triumphant fulfillment of what God had spoken over them.
Whether you're battling internal weaknesses like Peter or facing external opposition like David, this message offers renewed confidence that God's word contains the power for its own fulfillment. The very battle you face confirms rather than negates the authenticity of your calling. Your circumstances may seem impossible, but they're no match for the God who specializes in impossibilities.

Speaker 2:God bless you all and welcome back to another episode of Join this Journey by Faithline. I ask that all of you can join me by opening your Bibles in Isaiah 55, verse 10 to 11. And we shall read the word of the Lord, in the name of the Father, the Son and His Holy Spirit Amen. For as the rain cometh down and the snow from heaven and returneth not the earth but watereth the earth and maketh it bring forth bud that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goeth forth out my mouth. It should not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please and shall prosper in the thing where to I sent it. Amen.
Speaker 2:Now this word, god has sent us a word and it might be different for everyone a call, a word, a promise. But every word, every call, every promise, there is an assurance that it shall be accomplished and it shall prosper. But unfortunately, every time God sends a word or a promise or a call to someone or to somebody, there's always a battle, because the enemy doesn't want to see that work of God to prosper in our lives and in our families and friends. And a lot of times we send someone, even our own weaknesses, to take advantage of us and to try to kill us, bind us and destroy us, because he doesn't want God's word to become a fulfillment. And even if the enemy tries, he can't win, because when God sends a call, a promise or a word, it shall not come to him in void, but it shall accomplish and it shall prosper. And the Lord guided me to two examples in the Bible, which are Peter and David.
Speaker 2:Peter, who was called Simon and was a fisherman, was called by Jesus to become a fisher of men and later Jesus revealed to him his plan and purpose with Peter's life to become a rock of the church, the gospel, and he changed his name from Simon to Peter, which means rock. And around the time of the Last Supper, jesus revealed to Peter that the enemy had plans against him to sift him as meat, and that means that the enemy was planning to isolate him from the importance God had established him by trying to bring him to a place of guilt and hurt. And Jesus told Peter that he would deny him three times. And when Jesus brought him and some other disciples with him to the garden to pray before Jesus was arrested, peter didn't pray as Jesus asked him to, rather he slept. And so when the soldiers, the high priest and their servants came with Judas and found Jesus in the garden to arrest him, unfortunately he smote the year of one of the high priest's servants. And initially that was not in God's perfect plan will to happen, but because Peter slept, he wasn't filled with God's discernment, with God's wisdom, not to do that with God's wisdom, not to do that because it was in God's will for Jesus to go through each process that he had to go to before he was crucified on the cross but then resurrected on the third day. And so after this, and Jesus was brought to the Minimor's choir and they were interrogating him, peter found himself that he ended up denying Christ three times by different people who questioned him if he was, you know, a disciple or one of the followers, if he was, you know, a disciple or one of the followers. Um, and he was devastated that he ended up denying christ because he thought that he wouldn't do that because he loved christ.
Speaker 2:But unfortunately he was brought to that stage and after Jesus resurrected, he started appearing again to his disciples and guiding few of the disciples and Peter found himself fishing, like the first time he met Jesus. And when they went fishing that night they couldn't fish not even one fish. It didn't go well. And in the morning Jesus appeared unto them they were and were at the time and he told them to fish again. And after they fished again, they found their nets to be full of fish and one of the disciples told Peter that was Jesus. You know, that's Jesus telling us to bring our nets into the water. And Peter at the time was naked and he covered himself. And the Lord helped me to understand that, not to focus on the fact that he was naked, but to use that to symbolize that Peter was ashamed, so he covered himself Because he was made aware that Jesus was there. He was ashamed, he felt guilty, and Jesus had a personal encounter with him to break that guilt and that shame. Because that was what the enemy's plan to destroy him, to isolate him from God's perfect will and plan over Peter's life. And so Jesus helped Peter because Jesus can't force us to do anything but helped him to confess Jesus three times, rather than deny him, which would bring Peter to the point of following him, as Jesus told him. And Jesus told Peter to feed his lambs, to tend and feed his sheep, and by Acts, chapter 1, and Jesus gave instructions to his disciples and his followers to pray, we see that God began to use Peter as the leader of the church, to guide and to tend, and that's where God's word became a fulfillment. Although there was a battle, jesus was able to stand up, fight, intercede for Peter's life so that the gospel, the church, could be established.
Speaker 2:And the other person, david. David was a shepherd boy and he was anointed to be king over Israel, and Saul was the current king at that time, and the Spirit of God departed from him. So that's when the Lord revealed to Samuel that he needed to go anoint another king for Israel. And later on David began to play the harp for Saul, so whatever tormented him could be calmed, because when David played, he played with an anointing with the Spirit of God. Soon later, saul realized that David was anointed to God and the spirit of God was upon him and he, you know, put two and two together and realized that David might be the new, new king to go over Israel, and he began to plan to kill David's life. But Jonathan, the son of Saul, who was one of David's bestest friends or brothers, he revealed to David the plan his father had against him and advised David to run. And after Saul made countless threats, david ran and he ran to Samuel. And then, after like, he ran to Samuel and there the Lord glorified himself, preventing those that saw a sign and even saw to kill him. So David continued running and he ran to Amalek, one of the high priests, and from there David kept running wherever the Spirit would lead him. Through that, and when we read many of the Psalms, david maintained his prayer, his communication with the Lord, even though he was in distress and feared for his life. Through all that process he maintained his communication with the Lord and allowed the Lord to guide him and he was able to be filled with assurance, protection, guidance and discernment. Through the Spirit, and because David remained humbled and kept his peace and not left at all to the Lord to fight, saul did die. Saul was killed, but after that one of Saul's sons was appointed by one of Saul's captains, abner, to be king over Israel, and of course that prevented David from becoming the king over Israel, although at that time he was already reigning over Judah. But in all that he kept his peace and remained humble and they both were eventually killed the captain and Saul's son, ashpen I don't know how to pronounce his name, but they were both eventually killed, and they were not by David, by other people whom God judged him after. By chapter 5 of the second book of Samuel, david was able to become king.
Speaker 2:There's many other examples in the Bible of God sending out a word to the people of Israel and Egypt that they were going to come out. There was a battle for them to come out, but God still fulfilled his promise. Just many other parts of the Bible where God sent out a word, a promise, a call and his people unto our souls and to our lives and he, though there was a battle, god still fulfilled his word and his call, like the portion we read earlier, because any word that God sent shall not come to God in void. So, although we might not want that word, although there's oppositions, although we have weakness, although the enemy comes against it, the Lord will still complete his work Because when he sends out that word, it shall be accomplished. And God knows all things, he has power and God has the last say. And if we reflect over Peter and David, they both had a call, a word, a promise over their lives and it was a battle against it, against God's will, over their life.
Speaker 2:And one of the major differences between Peter and Nick is that Peter had a lot of pride, pride that you know that what happened to him, that you know he loved Jesus enough that it would not. But God proved to him that it did. And if you know he would have considered Jesus' words to watch and pray in that garden. Maybe the outcome could have been differently, but even still, jesus glorified himself in his life and helped Peter to glorified himself in his life and helped Peter to um, and he restored Peter and strengthened Peter to become the leader of the gospel. Yes, you know, he didn't have to, didn't have to be Peter, but God allowed each and every one of us to be born on this earth with a plan and a purpose. And that was his plan with Peter, because he already gave Peter everything. You know the personality, the way of seeing things, you know the way he was. God already established all of that. So it was God's planning. God's perfect will is always to allow his plan to come to pass in our lives.
Speaker 2:And when we see David, david was humbled and he left it to God to do. He didn't come in the way and try to kill Saul on his own, even though he was tempted and people told him you know, just kill Saul yourself, you have the getaway to do it. Told him, you know, just kill Saul yourself, you have the getaway to do it. But David remained firm and decided to trust God instead of his own desires, because he knew that Saul, even though the spirit, was not a part of him, but still one of God's anointed, and that it wasn't great for him to have Saul's blood in his hands. So, at the end of the day, god sends His word and it's our job to, even though there's a battle, to seek God and remain firm in Him.
Speaker 2:And yes, it's hard, yes it's difficult, but it's not impossible. And God didn't make a mistake with the word he sent out and although right now it might seem impossible, but that the battle is too difficult for the process, but God will still complete His word because he's God and his word says that there's nothing impossible for God. God is the God of the impossible and whatever word that he has sent out shall be, shall come into fulfillment for his glory and for his honor. And many of us the Lord has called us to, you know, repent and serve Him and sometimes just battle us for that. But the Lord has all power and he can do all things. Christ strengthens us. So just remember that the word that goes forth out of God's mouth shall not return to him in void, but it shall accomplish that which he pleases and it shall prosper in the thing where he sent it to the glory.
