A quiet Wednesday service turned electric the moment we shifted from words to action. We felt a clear nudge to call for signs and wonders, then noticed a visitor in a bright red plaid shirt—someone carrying hip pain, a painful lower back, and a looming surgery date. What happened next unfolded in plain sight: a few steps forward, a test of the moment, and pain that simply wasn’t there anymore. The surprise on his face said what many of us feel when change comes faster than our plans—hope interrupts certainty, and the mind needs a second to catch up.

We walk you through the anatomy of that moment: naming a need without shame, engaging faith with specific language, and checking results in real time. Rather than pitting faith against medicine, we explore how expectation, attention, and courageous honesty can work alongside each other. When the visitor kept returning to the story of surgery, we gently asked him to notice the present: Where is the pain now? That shift—from past diagnosis to current data—becomes a practical tool you can use in your own healing journey, whether you’re dealing with chronic pain, anxiety, or a story you’ve carried too long.

There’s also a deeper invitation woven through this encounter. Gratitude stabilizes sudden change, and openness makes room for help. We extend that same invitation to you: if your lower back or hips ache, place a hand there and welcome relief; if your heart feels far, consider receiving the presence and peace we experienced together. Listen to hear the full account, reflect on how belief updates after evidence, and try the simple steps we model: name the need, move toward help, test the change, update the story, and give thanks.

If this story lifted your faith or sparked questions, follow the show, share it with someone who needs hope today, and leave a review to tell us how you’re doing. Your voice helps others find their way to healing.

Turning From Surgery To Faith

Awe, Gratitude, And An Invitation

Linda Budd

I had just gotten done preaching a Wednesday night service, and the presence of God was wonderful. And I said that God is going to perform some signs and wonders now. And I picked out a man who was visiting. He had on a nice big red plaid shirt and he just stuck out to me. And I said, Sir, what do you need to be healed of? Do you have hip pain? He said, Yeah, but I also have lower back pain. And I said, Well, the pain is leaving your hip right now. Just walk on up here. And he did, and as he did, the pain was leaving. And he began to talk, and he said, Uh, I need to have back surgery. And and I said, No, you're getting a new lower back right now because that's right where the pain is. And he said, Yeah. I said, Where's it at now? And he said, It's gone. And I could tell that the the understanding of it and the shock of it just was, you know, amazing to him. He didn't know how to think about it yet. And he he said, Well, I'm gonna have to have back surgery. And I said, No, you're not. You just told me the pain left, you just got healed. And he goes, Yeah, I guess I did. So it's so funny when God does something for us, we're just amazed by it. And Jesus is an amazing, amazing God. He's just amazing. And so I invite you to receive Jesus into your heart, and I invite you to be healed in the lower back and in the hips right now in the name of Jesus.
