Have you ever said yes to something that sounded like a great opportunity… and then later realized it stole your peace? In this episode, we talk about how to tell the difference between a great opportunity and a distraction, especially when you’re trying to live with intention. This is decision making for the introvert leader who wants to stay aligned, not just stay busy.

This matters for the introvert because many of us already carry a lot internally. We think deeply. We notice everything. We want peace. And when too many invitations pile on, we don’t just get tired—we get scattered. That’s why decision making has to be connected to your vision, not your fear of missing out.

Emily gives a practical tool that helps you slow down and think clearly before you say yes. She says: finish the sentence. Don’t just say, “This is a great opportunity.” That’s not specific enough. A great opportunity to do what?

So you finish it honestly:
“This is a great opportunity to ______.”

Maybe it’s to grow your business.
Maybe it’s to serve your family.
 Maybe it’s to rest.
Maybe it’s to meet new people.
Maybe it’s to walk with God.
Maybe it’s to learn something new.

All of those are good. But the next question is what makes this episode so helpful:
Is this the season for that?

That one question can save you so much stress. Because you can admit something is a great opportunity and still decide it’s not your opportunity right now. That’s not failure. That’s wisdom. That’s decision making with peace.

You’ll also hear a reminder about fear of missing out. If you’re an introvert, you may feel pressure from what you see online, from what others are doing, and from what people assume you should want. But peace grows when you limit the noise and remember that God can lead you without panic. There is no one thing that can “make” your life, and there is no one thing that can “break” your life. God is faithful, and He knows how to guide you in every season.

Key Takeaways

  • A great opportunity can still be the wrong choice for this season.
  • Peace is a sign you’re aligned, not just productive.
  • Strong decision making means you know what you’re saying yes and no to
  • Choosing your absence is not selfish—it’s stewardship.

For the introvert, fewer yeses can mean more clarity and more energy.
