April 22: Episode 7- The Daily Recharge Podcast Hosted By Jovie J. Sumner The Pleasure Of Progress
BreakThrough Boss founder Jovie J. Sumner explores why many men work hard & never play hard and enjoy themselves? Often times men can become so laser focused on our goals in life that we don't take time to pause and celebrate ourselves. However taking the time to celebrate and appreciate yourself with love and appreciation is one of the best ways for any man to continue to thrive and rise in life. Unfortunately for many men, we have been taught to always stay on the go. To do more, and more and more and never slow down long enough to really take in our success and victories in life. This normally leaves us feeling that no matter what we accomplish in life that it's never enough. All of that stops now. Starting today you're about to feel more alive and celebrated than ever before! Because in today's episode you're about to learn about 'The Pleasure Of Progress.' Enter if you dare.

You got to get up and celebrate life every day. Every day you plan to win that trophy and you have something to celebrate is a great day. It's all about the pleasure of progress. Hey, what's up everyone? This is yours truly Joby J Sumner, ceo and founder of Breakthrough Boss and host of the Breakthrough Boss podcast, the Daily Recharge, and today's topic we're going to be talking about the pleasure of celebrating progress. So, without any further ado, let's jump in.
Speaker 1:Today's episode is going to be short and sweet and to the point. So why do we have to celebrate ourselves? Why do we have to celebrate progress? The reason why is because it's important for us to acknowledge ourselves. It's important for us to acknowledge what we do right. So often in life we really pour it on ourselves when we make mistakes, when we don't do things right, when we get off the mark and get off schedule or get off track. But it's important for us to acknowledge all of the things that we do in a day, a week, a month, quarter or a year. That are the right things. So many things we take for granted, and when we take ourselves for granted, it causes a decline in our performance. It causes us to feel like shit. It doesn't enhance us, it doesn't celebrate us.
Speaker 1:So today's episode is all about celebrating you, celebrating self, celebrating life, because life is a game and we are all playing to win. But every day that we win is when we wake up. If you woke up today, that's a win, that's your first win and you got to celebrate that first win. So the first thing is begin to acknowledge yourself. I don't care if you brushed your teeth, I don't care if you got up and got out the bed, I don't care if you went for a walk, I don't care if you showed up to work on time. Celebrate something about yourself. And here's the reason why, as my mentor, joseph McClendon III, said to me and others, when you celebrate yourself, it reinforces the positive that you're doing. So your brain says to you I want to continue to do this. And the more you celebrate yourself, the more you will continue to do things that are helping you to make progress. Because it feels good, it's pleasurable. So you want to celebrate yourself, to feel good, and you also want to celebrate yourself in your life, so you can enjoy your life and so you can keep winning in life. That's number one. The next thing is because, damn, it feels good when you celebrate yourself right. So often in life, especially as men, we are very hard on ourselves. We're very hard on ourselves when we don't get it right, when we make a mistake, when we fuck up, but it feels great when you celebrate yourself.
Speaker 1:You know, if you just stop and take five minutes to acknowledge how many things you've already done right up to this point of you listening to this podcast, and it can be the simplest of things. It does not have to be major achievements. Major achievements or major accomplishments take time and they tend to be more spaced out and they tend to be a little less frequent than the things that we do on every single daily basis, you know. So it feels good to say you know what, look at all that I'm doing right, look at the things that are working out in my life, look at the things that I have accomplished today, this week, possibly this month, or even the quarter or the year. So it just makes you feel good. It builds that confidence upon confidence and this is how you get that winner's swagger, the champion's swagger. Sometimes, if you look at professional sports teams, when they're playing, one team is playing another or one athlete is competing against another athlete. Oftentimes, if you're really paying attention, you can already tell who's going to win before the game begins or before the competition or the fight begins. Why? Because they have that swagger about themselves, the champion swagger. So today, we want you to celebrate yourself and begin to celebrate yourself on a daily basis to develop that champion swagger, because it works, and this is scientifically proven. This is not just feel good, pump you up stuff that I'm putting out here. This is scientifically proven, my friends. The other thing about celebrating yourself and celebrating life is it gives you a change of perspective. It gives you an opportunity to pause and to pat yourself on the back right and to love yourself and to build yourself up. And in the process of doing that, here's what happens In the process of building yourself up, celebrating yourself, celebrating your life, your wins, your accomplishments, you discover new perspectives, and that is a game changer. Have you ever noticed?
Speaker 1:Oftentimes, when we get hung up on a challenge or a problem, it seems like it can be very tedious to discover what the solution is. It almost seems as if your brain goes blank. Now, why is that? Well, I'm not totally certain of why it is. However, I do know that when you over focus on something, you clog your brain up. When you relax, your brain can solve the issues. Your subconscious mind can solve the issues that you're facing on your own, almost as if you know how, when you're speaking to someone and something slips your mind and then you say you know what? I was just about to say something and I forgot it. And the harder you try, the less likely it is you're going to remember it. But when you just let it go and you relax, it comes right back to you in the blink of an eye. So it's the same thing with when you celebrate yourself. What you're saying subconsciously is I deserve more of this, I can do more of this, I can reach for new heights, I can produce more results, I can get better outcomes. And your brain was like hmm, I like this. And the brain says I want to do more of this.
Speaker 1:You release endorphins and all of those beautiful chemicals that make you feel good, and this creates new perspectives, new insights, new ways of looking at things, and you're not even thinking about the challenges or the problems you're facing. Your brain is solving all of those things for you. So now you approach the challenges in the day with new perspectives and new insights and new ways of overcoming the things you've been facing. And this is a really beautiful thing, because a lot of times, the things we're facing in life, all we need is a shift in perspective, which is oftentimes why we'll ask other people for their advice. Hey, you know, a lot of times, you know, you just want to sound it off of somebody to make sure your perspective is in alignment with what could possibly work or what may not work. So when you do this, you're actually becoming your own counselor or your own advisor, in a sense, and again it feels damn good to celebrate the pleasure of progress. And again it feels damn good to celebrate the pleasure of progress.
Speaker 1:The last thing I want to say is this the momentum you will create when you begin to celebrate yourself on a daily basis, you don't have to wait to the end of the week, you don't have to wait to next month, you don't have to wait till you accomplish what you want to accomplish. The momentum you will create is a momentum that will drive you to be unstoppable. Every day in life is a gift. We know this, and not every day feels like a gift, because there are challenges. However, when you develop the momentum that comes from celebrating the pleasure of your progress, you will become unstoppable.
Speaker 1:You will overcome the obstacles that have stood in your way because you won't be so faced on them, you won't be so focused on them. You will begin to focus on what's right. And as we focus on what's right, what happens is those challenges, they almost evaporate. They become molehills, from mountains to molehills, and so you're no longer focused on how big the issue is or how big the challenge is. What you're focused on is how great your life is and what's right and the possibilities and solutions for the obstacles you've been facing. Those obstacles become opportunities.
Speaker 1:You feel good, you show up and people sense that energy. And when people sense that energy in you, they want to be around you, because everyone loves a winner. So you can attract that and you can be that, even if your life may not be in every area the way that you desire it to be. However, if you begin to celebrate your life in the way that you desire it to be, pretty soon it will be, and that feels damn good. Begin to celebrate your life, begin to celebrate yourself, begin to celebrate daily and begin to celebrate the pleasure of progress, because progress equals happiness and, at the end of the day, if you have happiness, everything else just falls right into alignment. That's all I got for you guys today. This is another episode of the Breakthrough Boss Podcast, the daily recharge. I'm your host, joby J Sumner. Remember, stay hungry, stay disciplined, stay dedicated and stay focused, because lines are always more. God bless, guys, you, you.
