Daily Recharge host Jovie J. Sumner takes an in depth look into why men often feel alone? The reality is men feel isolated and alone often, which causes suffering. The 1st  key is to begin to connect with other men and become more socially active. The 2nd key is to begin to create a sacred space and pray. To practice one's faith allows for divine guidance and connection. Love and support are two of the most masculine traits that any man can have and give, especially if he is a BreakThrough Boss.

Speaker 1:

Why do you feel so alone and what's keeping you from praying? All right, all right, all right. I want to welcome everyone to another episode of the Daily Recharge podcast. I'm Jovi J Sumner and today we're going to be talking about the loneliness that men face. So I've been guided and instructed by the voice to question why we, as men, often feel alone and what keeps us from praying. For myself, I can say as early as a child, I remember feeling alone. Sometimes Family would come and visit and then they would leave and I would get this feeling of loneliness. My father might have to go to work and I would feel alone. I may have had to go to work and I would feel alone or a sense of separation.

Speaker 1:

So we enter into this dialogue and we ask, ask ourselves, why do we, as men, feel so alone? I think one of the biggest reasons is we have been taught that it's okay to be alone. We have been taught to isolate ourselves from others, particularly other men. I think this comes from a mistrust of other men. As Coach Sam Falsafi said, the best men. We compete for two things and again, this is to quote Coach Sam Falsafi, who I love a great deal and admire a great deal. But Coach Sam said those two things are money and women. And if you tell me that there is a man who is not competing for those things, I will tell you you are a fucking liar. As men, we all compete for at least one of those two things, depending on how you live your life. But for most men, straight men, we compete for both of those things. That is the truth. I think that that truth keeps men separated from one another. Why? Because it becomes a mental frame of I don't want this person to gain a resource that I may be competing for or I may be pursuing. And so, as men, we isolate and separate ourselves from one another and in the process we disconnect from fellowship and from communion with other powerful people, and other powerful men in particularly, and this is not the way that man was meant to live. So we have to ask ourselves why do men feel so alone? And again, let me say this I'm not saying that's the only answer to that question. I'm saying it's probably one of the most prevalent answers to that question, and one that is also true if you look beyond the surface level of that question.

Speaker 1:

The other thing I would say and challenge anyone listening to this podcast today is why won't you pray? You know, I think for a lot of men, sometimes we just don't want to pray because we don't want to ask and we don't want to talk. Sometimes we don't like talking, sometimes we don't like being bothered, sometimes we don't want to bother our higher power and sometimes we don't want to ask, sometimes we just don't want to ask for things. And the reality is this. If you take into consideration the fact that we tend to isolate ourselves and disconnect from other men, in particular If you take into consideration that we won't pray and ask for guidance or ask for help, those are the two biggest sources of fellowship and connection for men Other men, connection with society, which could be men, women, whoever and the divine source Of your divinity, your ultimate source, your faith, your creator. So if we won't connect With other men or other people and we won't connect With our creator, then you have to realize it's only natural that we feel alone, it's only natural that we feel isolated because we spend large amounts of time by ourselves. And when we spend so much time by ourselves and this could be at home, it could be at work and we don't have a source of connection outside of ourselves. It's only natural for us to feel alone because, in essence, we are alone. It's only natural for us to feel alone because, in essence, we are alone. So I want to challenge anyone listening to this today to begin to intentionally reach out and connect with other men. Reach out and connect with other people in your life it could be relatives, it could be friends you haven't spoken with in some time and, ultimately, I want to encourage you to connect with your source and your creator, whatever your faith is, that you practice, because when you begin to do that, you come into divine connection.

Speaker 1:

And again, as ancient texts have said, it is not good for man to be alone. So we must begin to pray, we must begin to ask, we must begin to listen and we must begin to submit and surrender to allowing ourselves to be guided by the divinity from within us, and that includes other human beings, and that is not only for self, that is for others as well. I never forget. Many times, growing up, my father would tell me the things that we experience and go through in life are really not just for us. You go through them, or should I say you grow through them and then, once you grow through those things, you have something to contribute and give to others beyond yourself now, because you have become a better person, if you survived it or if you rose above those obstacles and those challenges that you were facing. So we must keep in mind fellowship and connection is not just for us. It's mutually beneficial, for us as well as the other or others.

Speaker 1:

If we also step into possibility thinking, we begin to understand that prayer is a place of sacredness. Prayer is a place of coming into stillness stillness of the mind, stillness of the body, stillness of the spirit, stillness away from the outside world and the distractions and the many distractions that the mind is constantly being bombarded with. Prayer is that place where you can come and be guided by your higher self, your higher source, and get answers and and find possibilities and begin to see new openings and new opportunities for you, your life and those who you love and care about, and what you desire to go out and contribute and create. And oftentimes this really will only come through prayer. And part of that is because, if you are someone who is a breakthrough boss, if you are someone who is building, if you are someone who is creating, if you're someone who's contributing.

Speaker 1:

To be quite frank, it is not only a full-time job, it's a marriage. To be an owner means you take ownership for the failures and you take ownership for the successes, and, as men, we love to take ownership for the successes and we despise taking ownership for the failures, and that's just how the game goes. And so, with that being said, it takes a divine power, it takes a divine leadership beyond the mind and beyond the self to overcome so many of the challenges that we find ourselves facing on a day-to-day basis. And most of the time, those challenges or those solutions are not necessarily complicated. It's just beyond the mind, it's in the soul realm, it's in the spiritual realm, and this is why I'm encouraging you to practice, whatever your faith may be, and find that sacred space and pray and ask for guidance and ask for direction.

Speaker 1:

It works, and I'm not saying that I always do this myself, because I don't. It's an area where I'm leaning into becoming better and surrendering and submitting myself to the fact that I cannot do everything on my own, nor would I want to, but pushing my ego to the side to simply say I could use some help. I could use some help and I don't have the answers, and there's a source or power bigger than me that does and I can trust and have faith in that, and that's what part of life is all about believing and having faith. This is what got many generations through some of the most difficult and challenging and trying times throughout humanity World War I, world War II, the civil rights movement just so many different things in life period, but faith and belief got people through. So I encourage you to begin to practice your prayer life daily and increase and improve it and strengthen it daily, and this is something that I am also committed to doing myself. And the last thing I will say is this the solution is connection with others.

Speaker 1:

It has been scientifically proven that if you have physical connection with other human beings, you have a higher self-esteem and sense of confidence in who you are. I think Stanford, if I'm not mistaken, did a study on that, if you want to pull it up. So this is scientific, it's not rah-rah, it's not motivation, it's scientific. And to me, that's what life is all about the art and the science of success. To me, that is what being a breakthrough boss is all about the art and the science, because you need both.

Speaker 1:

Life is both an art and it is a science. There is a science to business. There is a science to having the body that you want. There is an art to designing and living an impeccable life in the domain of balance and being, and when you begin to blend these two, the art and the science, you begin to find specific protocols and principles that will work Bar none, consistently, to help you improve your life and break through to new levels. So I would encourage you To begin to pontificate upon this and begin to pray and to begin to connect with others Outside of yourself and even your normal social interactions. Trust me on this one, guys. Let me know how it works. That's all I got for you, guys.
