Speaker 1:

What are your limiting patterns and perceptions and what would need to shift for you to break through and create a new reality? Now, alright, alright, alright, all right, all right, all right. I want to welcome everyone to another episode of the Breakthrough Boss Podcast, the Daily Recharge. I'm your host, jovi J Sumner, and today's Daily Recharge protocol of the day is all about patterns and perceptions. You know we talk about patterns and we talk about perceptions, but a lot of times, most people really don't know how powerful patterns are.

Speaker 1:

Let me just start with this, as I have learned it from the great Tony Robinson. You hear me talk about Tony all the time, but there are other gurus or masters of the game in different areas that I learned from as well. However, I talk about Tony so often because, really, this is what the basis of Tony's life work has been really about patterns, and the reason why is because, as I've spent more time around him and his organization and learning from this great man, what I've learned is that everything in our life really revolves around the patterns of our lives Patterns, bar none control what we will do and what we will not do, from day to day, week to week, month to month and even year to year and decade to decade. So today's daily recharge really hits close to home, because in my own life I've seen how powerful patterns can be when they're working for us, and I've also seen how disempowering they can be when we're unaware of the patterns that we're living or playing into, when we're unconsciously living into the same patterns over and over and over and over again. And oftentimes, I think, when you hear people talk about generational curses or generational strongholds, oftentimes in my personal perception and opinion, really what I think they mean is that there's a generational pattern. And let me be clear there are three components of who you are as a human being your spirit or your soul, your mind and then your body.

Speaker 1:

And let me go ahead and highlight this for you. If you're listening to this today and you feel like you're going through something or you feel like you're going through a challenge or a difficult time, have no fear. I've been in that space and I'm actually coming out of that space myself. And sometimes, when we're going through a rough time, we have to really realize that it's nothing more than a pattern that can be broken and we can eliminate it. And the thing about that is, oftentimes we're running these same patterns over and over, and, over and over again throughout our lives and we are not even aware of it, you know.

Speaker 1:

So this one, this topic today, is really something that's near and dear to my heart, because there have been times in my life when I've seen myself at my best and you know I'm unstoppable, been times in my life when I've seen myself at my best and you know I'm unstoppable. And there've been other times in my life where it's kind of like you know they say when you're listening to the analysts in basketball, you can't buy a bucket. You know you might swing at the baseball a hundred times and not even hit one. You know, and if you're listening to this I'm sure you can relate. But all of this really just comes back to patterns. And again, most of the time we're unaware of our patterns. We create them, we model them sometimes, and oftentimes they're subconsciously running our lives. They're almost like an operating system for your favorite app or your favorite laptop, computer or device that you use. It's a program that's running over and over and over again. And so the outcome really of today's Daily Recharge podcast is really to help you to begin to recognize patterns. And, as I've often heard Tone say you want to recognize them, you want to break them and then you want to utilize them and eventually, as you become more efficient at recognizing them, you can begin to create your own. And that, my friends, is truly what life, wealth, business, you know, relationship mastery is all about, because most of the times, when things are going well, those are patterns that work and when they're not going so well, we're just running patterns that don't work and we're unaware of it. So we'll dive into that today and get a little bit more understanding about how these patterns work, you know, and what we can do about them. So, with no further ado, we're going to move on and we're just going to start by talking about some of the different types of patterns.

Speaker 1:

So recently I was listening to a clip where Tony was talking about how everyone goes into these different states of helplessness and he said that these are patterns and he talked about really is a pattern of identity, or it could be a pattern of perception, or a pattern of limitation, or a pattern of belief or stories. And it hit home for me because I have a friend and she had been talking to me about some of the patterns she'd been going through, and meanwhile, myself, I was going through these exact same patterns myself. And here's what's funny I and during this period of time, it wasn't the first time that I've danced with this pattern before. It wasn't the first time that I've encountered this pattern before. However, it probably was the first time that I was actually aware that this was a pattern, and it was the first time that I had the insight and the knowledge to be able to break this pattern and stop running it so that I could create a new pattern that will work for me and empower me. And so, really, we have to understand that there are different types of patterns.

Speaker 1:

So you have patterns of perceptions, in other words, how you view things. That could be a pattern. Are you looking for what's right or are you looking for what's wrong? That can be a pattern, because they both are always available. You know, there's a ton of things going on in the world right now that are negative things, that are things that are out of our control we have no control over whatsoever and, at the same time, there's a ton of things that are beautiful People out doing kind things for one another, serving one another out, adding value. It's just a pattern of what we choose to focus on.

Speaker 1:

We also have patterns of limitations. You know, if you've ever come across someone and you know that person said you know, man, it's easy for me to do this, or you know, it's easy for me to close this kind of a deal, that can be a pattern as well. It can just be an empowering pattern. And also you've heard guys say you know, man, I could never do that or I don't believe I can do that. Listen to my language. So you have patterns of limitation as well, patterns of limitations. And the thing about patterns of limitations are you can have patterns that run around your language. You can have patterns that run around your focus. You can have patterns that run around your focus. You can have patterns that run around your beliefs, and this is really understanding that the triad of your patterns is really going to revolve around your beliefs, your focus, which is your language and meaning, and then your physiology, how you use your body, and you can have patterns in your body as well. You use your body and you can have patterns in your body as well.

Speaker 1:

We'll get into that, maybe a little bit later on, but long story short, you can have a pattern of who you are as an identity. Case in point, I was talking to my coach today and we were on a call, a group call, and I was asking her about this very thing and she was like sometimes you have to ask yourself who am I being right now? Because we can slip or we can go into empowering identities and we can sometimes go into disempowering identities in the blink of an eye and not even realize it. And the reality is we want to ask ourselves who am I being? Because if we're in a disempowering identity, we want to step back into an empowering identity that's going to empower us and serve us to create and produce what we want, and we want to let go of those old, limited identities that don't work.

Speaker 1:

So the deal about that is that again, it takes having an awareness and oftentimes all of us, myself included, we can become unaware. We can become so focused on what the challenge is, we're so focused on the problem that we fail to recognize what the possibilities are. We fail to even realize that we're in a pattern because the perception is there's nothing I can do about this, I'm going to have to wait until another time, and I'm using some of my own language right now. These are things I've heard myself say when I've gone into some of these disempowering patterns and felt helpless. And, as a matter of fact, that is exactly what Tony Robbins spoke about. He said everyone, at some point in time or another, goes into patterns of helplessness.

Speaker 1:

You know that can be emotional as well. You may feel like you're unable to do something. You may feel like there's nothing you can do, and I'm sure most of us, at some point or another in our lives, have all used that type of language and obviously it's very disempowering. But we are verbalizing how we're feeling and most likely that's probably what we're focusing on, because we're running a pattern and we're unaware of it. So we have to really start to listen to the language that we're using, especially when we find ourselves in a space where we're less than our best. We have to break those patterns and again, let me remind you, you can have a pattern of focus, patterns of belief, patterns of physiology, patterns of identity. Your stories can even be a pattern.

Speaker 1:

But, to keep it simple, that really is going to play into what's known as the triad, and the triad really is just your beliefs, your focus and your physiology, how you're using them. And so remember, when you find yourself in a space where you're not using your physiology which is one of the things that you always want to start with is because most of the time, if you change your physiology, the other patterns will change immediately and that doesn't mean you don't have to do any more work to permanently change them. But if you can get into a peak state, if you can get into a great state, almost like if you've ever heard, you ever been feeling like crap and then you hear one of your favorite songs come on the radio or on YouTube and instantaneously, in that moment, you become a different person and that old identity or that old story goes away. It's eliminated, gone, and then you go into this whole different version of yourself. You just experience a pattern, interrupt, and so a lot of times the best thing we can do is to just change our physiological state.

Speaker 1:

Put on some great music, some uplifting music, put on something that's going to help you snap out of what you're focusing on. It can be something as simple as somebody making you laugh. It can be something as simple as I had somebody call me today and it interrupted a pattern that I had been running and was totally unaware that I was even running that pattern. That's how subconscious patterns can be. So we really want to begin to learn how we can identify them. And there are all types of little things that you can do Again, get into a peak state, put on great music.

Speaker 1:

One of the things I learned from my mentor, joseph McClendon, is set your cell phone for about every 30 minutes to an hour and it will go off and, believe it or not, you'll forget that you said it and it'll interrupt some of the patterns that you're running, that you're unaware of, and the whole aim of it is to really just break the patterns that don't serve you, you know, so that you can begin to utilize those patterns and even begin to create patterns that will serve you and that will work for you and really help you to create what you want in life and business, in every area of your life, because that's really what all of us want. We want to be at our best as often as possible. You know, obviously, from a realistic standpoint, no one's always at their best, but we want to put the odds in our favor that we're at our best the majority of the time, from day to day, week to week, month to month and year to year. So let's move on.

Speaker 1:

Why is this important? The reason why this is important is because, again, everything from the economy to business, to relationships, to your health, to your finances, everything involves patterns, whether you realize it or not. Patterns can play on an individual level. Patterns can play, and do play on a cultural level, on an international or world level, you know, and so if you look at what happened during COVID, many people are still living their lives as if we're still in COVID now, even though COVID has ended. So think about that for a moment. The entire world stopped during that time for a year or two, maybe even three, and now the world is turning again, but many people are still living into a pattern that COVID is still very current, even though it's not so.

Speaker 1:

Again, the reason why this is so important is because when your life is going great, most likely you're running a pattern. As a matter of fact, you are running a pattern. You're running a pattern that's working for you, and when your life is not going so great, you're running a pattern that's disempowering you. You're just unaware of what happened and what changed, and they can change from time to time periods, seasons, you name it and again you want to identify what those beliefs are, what those stories are, or the identity or the perception of the pattern is that you're running, so you can break through and break out of it and start producing that new levels.

Speaker 1:

So what do you do to recognize patterns? For me, one of the things I've learned to do is that if it seems to be something that's reoccurring in your life in other words, let me share something about myself I noticed that in my 20s I would experience a pattern of about every three to four years something bad would happen, and normally it would involve my career or my finances. Don't know where the pattern came from I mean, obviously I created it in some capacity but I noticed that it was a reoccurring thing. It happened at least about three times in my 20s, right and after like the second or third time, I started to realize something isn't right about this, something else is going on here, and at the time I didn't understand and have the tools that I'm sharing with you today. I didn't understand anything about patterns, or even the psychology behind this or the behaviors behind this, but I started to notice a trend. So that's the first thing you can do Start to look for trends in your life. How long do you normally go before something seems to take a shift or something happens? That's a reoccurring thing. That's one of the first things you can do, and the reason why I say this is because it gives you the opportunity to measure and put a metric on that pattern and, at the same time, if it's something that you've seen more than two to three times in your life, obviously it's a pattern and that will give you an opportunity to ask the question you know, like what's great about this or how can I use this?

Speaker 1:

And even when you do things like just asking questions like that, like Byron Katie often talks about her four questions, and one of those questions she always asks when a person is in a space or you know they're feeling helpless is is that really true? You know, and I like that question because it interrupts the pattern, because most of the time we get so focused on what the actual challenge is, we really start to believe into the pattern of the perception or limitation that there's nothing we can do or that it's out of our control. That's how powerful our thoughts are. That's how powerful our stories and beliefs are. On the one hand, we know it's not because we've seen ourselves do better and perform better and really enjoy life at different levels and just flourish and feel spectacular and dynamic, and then, at the same time, we find ourselves in an emotional space where our focus is so we're so focused on what's not working, or we're so focused on what's not going right or what we can't do. It almost feels as if there's nothing we can do to get out of it. Even though we know that's not literally true, it feels true. So we want to ask questions that will break up the pattern.

Speaker 1:

Another great question that I heard from Joseph McClendon is you know, what can I do about this? Wow, that's such a great question because, again, it forces the brain to stop focusing on what can't be done, which is another powerful pattern the pattern of focusing on what we can't do or, when we're at our best, the pattern of focusing on what we can do. But it breaks the pattern if we're focusing on what we can't do and automatically shifts your brain into focusing on what you can do. What are the possibilities? What other options do I have in this given set of situations and scenarios? And so often again.

Speaker 1:

We can run these patterns year after year, so long that we literally put ourselves into a space where we don't see that there are any other avenues available to us. And this is what's so great about having coaches or having other people around you who can help you see what you can't see, because we all have blind spots. And if you have people around you who can coach you or can point out those blind spots to you, they can say to you hey, this is the same issue you've been talking about for the last five to 10 years, and there are issues in my life where I still have in my life that I've tolerated for that long, which is ridiculous. However, when you're unable to see yourself because you're in the picture frame, then that's typically how it goes and that's how powerful patterns are. So we want to have people around us who can coach us and who can help us to pinpoint and spot these patterns and break them when we know they're not the truth, when we know they're not our truth, and asking questions is one of the best ways you can do that.

Speaker 1:

Another, another simple and great way to break a pattern is again, dance. Turn on some great music and dance again. Why? Because you're moving, and when you're moving, you're interrupting these patterns. Instead of sitting around focusing on what you can't do, feeling helpless or whatever what other debilitating emotions you're feeling, when you're living into that pattern, it interrupts it If you laugh. Have you ever noticed when somebody makes you laugh, even if you're mad or you're feeling angry, or you're feeling bothered by something? In that instant, for that amount of time, your entire focus shifts. You stop feeling that way. And that's what makes it so powerful is, if we have a pattern of focusing on things that are going to make us feel helpless, or things that are going to make us feel like there's nothing that we can do, that's literally what we're going to create and live into. So we want to focus on what we can do, we want to focus on the possibilities and we definitely want to focus on interrupting patterns that don't serve us, so we don't continue to live into them over and over and over and over and over again in our lives and business.

Speaker 1:

So the last thing I will say is this Start learning what patterns you're running in your life that are disempowering to you. Start recognizing them, especially again if you've seen them on more than Two occasions I'll say two or three, but really two and it's disempowering your life or disrupting your life or any area of your life. It's a pattern, recognize it, embrace it. It won't go away until you disrupt it. But it's a pattern, recognize it, embrace it. It won't go away until you disrupt it. But when you disrupt that pattern, you can utilize it. You have an opportunity in that moment to create a new empowering pattern, and once you begin to do this, it's almost like you're training. Your life will start to get better and better and better. And one of the things I'm learning to do currently is I'm learning to look at the different areas of my life and see what's not working. And by seeing what's not working, I can interrupt the patterns that have been going on and on and on and interrupt them, break them and create some new empowering patterns. Because the one thing about it is, until you interrupt those patterns and create new ones, you're going to continue to create and produce the same results over and over and over, again and again.

Speaker 1:

Let me say this there are patterns that all of us have that empower us and work for us, and then there are patterns that we all have that don't work for us.

Speaker 1:

And the key is, we want to recognize the patterns that don't work for us, eliminate them, disrupt them, wipe them out and create some new patterns as soon as possible, so that our lives work better, our finances flourish, our businesses flourish, our relationships flourish, and every area of our life is what we desire for it to be, and it's just filled with abundance, joy, you know, prosperity, success and accomplishment. And does that mean you're always going to be at your best? No, but we do, again, want to put the odds in our favor so that the majority of the time, from day to day, week to week, month to month and year to year, we are at our best. So that is the power of patterns and perceptions, and if you have any comments on this, I'd love to hear from you. Drop me a comment, send me a message, reach out to me and, as always, I want to remind you stay focused, stay disciplined, stay dedicated and stay hungry, because lines are always hungry for more, sending you love, light, peace and prosperity. God bless you, guys. Thank you.
