Speaker 1:

Hello, mr Emin. My guest today is Tural Mehramov, an expert on environmental protection. If you don't mind, please introduce yourself.

Speaker 2:

Hello Emin, thank you for inviting me to this interesting podcast. I am Tural Mehramov. I graduated from the Department of Environmental Protection. I have a bachelor's degree in the National Academy of Science and Technology and I got my Master's degree in Ecology in the Department of Aerospace Monitoring of the University of North Britain. I got my Master's degree in the Department of Aerospace Monitoring of the University of North Britain through the Sokar International Development Programme. At the same time, I got my second Master's degree in the University of Great Britain and then I took my second master's degree in the Academy of National Science. After finishing my master's degree, I started my PhD in oil drilling and oil refining.

Speaker 2:

After I left for the UK, I started working in Sokar. My first job was in Sokar's Ecology Department. Then I worked in the department of Ecology Management in the head office of Sokar. Then I worked in the department of Reconstruction. Then I was hired to build the modernization and reconstruction of the Eiderli Vada Oil Plant in 2018. I started working as a coordinator of the environmental protection department. After working here, I became the head of the Ecology department in the Eftiham Sokar downstream management company is currently operating the production plants.

Speaker 2:

There are 6 plants here Hederya, vadan EFT Plant, gas Plant, methanol Plant, polymer Plant, azari Kimya Plant, institute of Technology, and Carbobit Plant. I am a member of the team, of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team of the team, of the team, of the team of the team of food.

Speaker 1:

according to the environmental standards Very good. We have covered your biography with your explanation. I hope that this will make your rich biography and podcast very good. And you have also mentioned that you are a member of the community. I would like to ask you what are your important responsibilities in this regard?

Speaker 2:

Actually, when we talk about the environment, we think only about the food and water. This is a good opportunity to give information about our work. There are many jobs in the field of field of field management. Moreover, these jobs have increased twice in the project and the training more effective. Or, as I said, there may be problems with oil distribution, the problem of drought, the protection of vegetation, the protection of biodiversity, climate change, water pollution, etc. These are the problems, and these problems are really serious Because, if we don't take these projects into account, they will affect both human health, global health and climate change. Therefore, we are trying to see the measures to take these projects into account, with our projects and with the best technology and methods to counteract these processes.

Speaker 1:

The next question is about the chemical engineering. How do factories do this? What are the standards? What procedures are being followed?

Speaker 2:

That is interesting for us. I will talk about the standards. As we know, during the production process, the international system of environmental protection and protection of the environment. The standards show how to protect the environment, how to protect the environment should we manage our business, what measures should be taken, how should these measures be done? For how long should these measures be implemented? This standard is like a teaching and it shows us which standards and procedures to follow If procedures are applied here. As you know, each university has its own quality assurance department. These are helpful in the proper management of basic standards and documents or business processes. We also have certain procedures and plans. As I said, this is the demand of ISO 14001. This is the plan of administration of the surrounding area, the management of the resources. The management be from the international standards, like the International Bank, the Asian Bank, the Equator Principle, etc. This is from the perspective of the law and the processes.

Speaker 1:

In the answer of the equation.

Speaker 2:

As I said, other standards are applied here, such as the World Bank, Asian Bank, etc. This is one of the principles of the Equator. This is a principle that requires the risk of risk to be taken into account for the environment and social education. Sometimes it is hard, sometimes there is no implementation. There is no demand for local standards. As I said, the main thing is social issues. Sometimes we only consider the environment, but in the main, international issues. You can see that the environment and social values are valued and social education is also valued, and the pre-treatment measures are considered. The stakeholders are also considered, the opinions and thoughts of the interested parties are considered and they are considered depending on their impact.

Speaker 1:

The factories, the protection of the environment, the procedures here, and we have discussed similar issues in other fields but which technical aspects are not used here.

Speaker 2:

We have also tested it in other places, but we have not found any. And the harmful gases that evaporate from it hydrogen sulfide or VOC or aromatic emissions. All of these cause certain smells or cause anti-sanitary conditions in biological treatment groups. Biological water, chemical water or mineral water should be used with modern technology. Modern technology such as separators, disinfection, cleaning tools, even the. In recent years, emissions have become a model for decarbonization, because this is a new field, because these are technologies that require money. These are modern technologies such as carbon retention use in certain processes or the use of oil in gas pumps or the use of other products during chemical processes, etc. Oil spillage skimmers, new absorbers, oil pump. As I said, it is necessary to compare this technology with other benchmark.

Speaker 1:

We have talked about innovative technologies, but all of them should have a goal. What should we do to achieve our goal? What is the goal and how is it achieved?

Speaker 2:

Good question, interesting question here the demands of the local government, the demands of the international community or the goals that the country has achieved? When you are in a difficult situation, you also have certain requirements. For example, azerbaijan has its goals for the EMICS. The goal is to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions by 35% by 2030. Of course, this 35% can be your goal and it can be your goal in terms of size and size of your business. This is the main goal of the country and it is a global goal, but it can also have your own goals.

Speaker 2:

Here is the first goal of ISO 14000. If you use the KPI of the previous year, you can use it will reduce the amount of water, reduce the amount of steam, reduce the amount of sensors, etc. Energy can be used for energy consumption. I will use this much energy. Next year I will reduce 10% of energy. I will reduce solar panels for this year's project. I will buy a computer with higher energy consumption and increase the energy consumption in the emission. These are the goals.

Speaker 2:

This project can be implemented in your project. It can also be implemented by your boss. I will tell you an interesting case. It can be implemented by the government. They gave us a case in a leadership course. They say that the company's smart goals are sometimes not smart. Our goals should also be smart, otherwise I am not real. Your financial situation is not good, but if you say that you are a populist, you are going to run on solar panels everywhere, but when you don't know this, your reputation is damaged. It should be reasonable and reliable, so the players should be smart and choose the right players.

Speaker 1:

So, if we say it simply, it is necessary to give such a promise that it can have to follow the standards.

Speaker 2:

If you are a member of ISA 14100, you will be eliminated in the next year. Or three years. You will be eliminated in the next year, or three years. You will be eliminated in the next year or three years. You will be eliminated in the next year, or three years. You will be eliminated in the next year, or three years. You will be eliminated in the next year or three years. I didn't mention the reason why it didn't decrease. So if you didn't set the target correctly or you didn't set the target correctly, this will affect your reputation and also your team spirit. If you imagine the future, you set the target and you couldn't be a hero. If you say to your team that you will increase it to 900, you couldn't decrease it you won't be able to make any serious decisions in the upcoming year. We should set such goals that we will reduce the risk of reputation and energy loss. If you don't answer my question, what is your opinion?

Speaker 1:

If you want the development and environment. Everything can be measured by comparison. Therefore, I would like to ask in what way Azerbaijan is in this regard in terms of global countries, and in which countries should we take the role, we usually compare ourselves with the other speakers.

Speaker 2:

I think that we are not far behind in our other conversations, Also in the COP 29,. It was a really ecological exchange. I mean it was really good in terms of development. We will talk about it later. Let's compare it with Turkey. What I want to touch on here is the environmental awareness of people. I have been to the countries I have spoken to and there, the countries where I have been to, and there was a demand issue. Besides, in Georgia many people have seen it In the past they were afraid to throw a cigarette in the street Because the Georgians say why should I throw a cigarette in the street if my country is in danger, Let it be the police or the military. We say this is a bit of little environmental friendly.

Speaker 2:

I have to see that you are an atheist. You should say that it should start from family. I like that. There are people in our communities, or people I know, who say that a child is lying on the ground. It is a lie. It is a lie. It is a lie to climb a mountain. It is a lie. It is revealed in schools and so on. I think this issue is a little lower in our country, in Turkey, than in Turkey.

Speaker 2:

We are also a little bit lower in Turkey, but, as I said, COP 29 or the hardening of the laws will stop this. But there are more positive things. There is a lot of work to do. We have energy potential here. We can use solar energy. We can use industrial technology, Because in Karabakh, construction of smart cities is a legal issue. In comparison to others, Turkey is more specific laws. We have more specific standards. Most of them are COS standards. They should be accepted in Azerbaijan and should be adapted to the country. But I can say that the protection is in full swing among the countries that are fighting for it, Because COP 29 is a very important step. The heads of countries of the world come here, make decisions and I believe that this will have a positive impact on our country. I can compare it with the level of the people in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan has a lot of potential people. I can compare it with the countries I know and I can compare it with the universities I know.

Speaker 2:

I saw that there is no difference between our professions. There is only a matter of resources. If you look at YouTube, there are many songs and videos about it, but there is no such thing in Azerbaijan. Then there are videos about the introduction. Among the programs, there is a message and the people around give a message, but we don't see them on the radio. It's a new beginning, but, as I said, the technology companies have already started to apply better technologies to compete with the environment. I believe that the light will shine and the new technologies will be successful.

Speaker 1:

It was not very successful in the past, but it shows that the development will be good.

Speaker 2:

Of course, this is the potential of our country. The green fields are very interesting. The state-owned agent is doing a great job. Last time, a conference was held to develop green fields. It is a very interesting concept. This is the first in Azerbaijan. We all want to be engineers, but here we don't have to deal with technicians, masters or other technical people. I think that in the future, we will have good results. We will have good results in 3-5 years, Both in the technical and in the professional aspect. I am sure that we will have 100% good results in the future. Thanks to you, we will have good results. Thank you for your time. Thank you for your time. Thank you for your time. Therefore, if you see 100% improvement in the future, I am sure it will be thanks to you.

Speaker 1:

We discussed the procedures, standards and targets of the podcast which we will use in this episode. But when we talk about the mechanism, the main issue is the monitoring. The reports are written and the work is done. How is the work done in Azerbaijan and how is it organized?

Speaker 2:

I want to ask you a question. You are not compared to other countries. We can compare with Great Britain, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, America. In China, solar panels are not as good as we think, but in European countries I have seen a lot of videos about this in European countries about the performance of energy, the environment around it. They compare the interest in the first day, second day, third day. In Germany, A person comes, throws a towel, throws a towel on the face of the person. He doesn't know if it's the first day, second day, third day, and then they start to improve it. This is a social problem for people and it starts to change.

Speaker 1:

I saw it. It was interesting.

Speaker 2:

It starts to change and after 3 months they see it and write a paper and put it here and there and finally they put a camera behind it to see who is throwing it. As I said, in these countries the social crisis and the introduction of people to the environment is at a high level. When it comes to the question we asked, they say that MRV is the measurement, accountability and verification of the data. I have seen this in the country. I have watched it from friends, social networks and companies. I have watched it from well-known companies. This system is applied. It is applied to audio companies. The reports given the sustainability reports are collected. The information is passed from the point of view and the verification is successful. The reports are being reviewed and confirmed. The country is also sending reports to BMT and other international organizations about climate change. These reports are also published by the international companies.

Speaker 2:

But I think it requires a little sincerity to protect the media around me. I wrote to the number. It is something to the media around you that they do not like the little-eyed. After a certain period, this should show its effect Because no matter how much you hide the numbers, it will not affect you. It will definitely affect you. After 5 years, 10 years, it will start to dry up or there may be a gas, there may be an emission. This shows itself. Therefore, people should be transparent in their company when they give numbers and it should be compared with global companies to make the calculation more clear and transparent.

Speaker 1:

It is a matter of conscience here. How is a person it is possible to cheat for a while, but in the future everything will be fine.

Speaker 2:

Yes, there is another thing In the international world that they did this and that there is a lack of sleep in the numbers.

Speaker 2:

There is a reputation issue.

Speaker 2:

For example, one person serves and another one takes the service. There is a plan to manage the statistics, manage the vendors. I see the reports and say that I am looking at these emissaries and some numbers are being reduced here. It is not possible to manage the Sabation business Trust. Trust is important in business. I think that these numbers are not worth the money of the company that wrote these lies.

Speaker 2:

There is also this issue. As I said, this is a problem for the people around us because we live in this country or another country. You live in this country, you are living here, you are drinking water, you are swimming in the sea. You are not yourself, your children, your grandchildren, your grandchildren. What do you think? I think that we should take this problem seriously and take responsibility for it. We should take responsibility for our future, our country, for our good people, for our good people. What does good people mean? They mean people who have a healthy environment. As the Constitution says, everyone has the right to live in a healthy environment. That's why I think that this is a they need to be more serious, or else, who wants to show their own dirty behavior?

Speaker 1:

No one, everyone wants to be safe and now I would like to talk about the measures that will be started in Azerbaijan this year, the COP 29. The news of it is being spread everywhere. Everyone is talking about it. The COP 29 is being discussed in all the countries and the heads of the people are saying that only in Baku, 473 million people were found. I think that these numbers are not enough to make a big deal, but I want everyone to know what the29 is and what are its main goals.

Speaker 2:

I and other colleagues, members of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, are very happy that we came to COP19. This is a great achievement. As a company, as a country, we have focused on all of this.

Speaker 1:

I mean we have been very busy with your work. Yes, because because here we thought about it before, if something like this would happen.

Speaker 2:

Not just thinking about it, but people who are important to this sometimes think about it. Then they think that if the country as a leader gives importance to such a public action and wants to implement it in the country, then it is not such a big deal. Ecological problems are not a simple thing. It is not just about eating and aging. I am interested in this Sometimes. It is good that I know that people want to do this. Some people say that they want to do this For grants and so on. It was a bit difficult. People are interested in the research, companies are interested, but now I see that some companies sponsor these processes. New companies are found in the market and they want to make these projects happen. It's interesting that if you go to the market, you say that the market is not connected to COP, related to COP. If you ask, they will say COP 29 will be held in Turkey. Everyone speaks. But I would like to talk about this.

Speaker 2:

I ask questions at seminars. I ask about COP. They say COP will happen. I ask what is the meaning of COP? They look at me like that. I don't know what to say. Everyone says COP. I don't know what it means. I asked the guy last year. He said that COP 29 will be held in Azerbaijan in the 29th year. I said that this event will be held in Azerbaijan in 5 years. So it was the 29th time. Yes, the 29th time. I don't remember exactly, but it I was in Germany for the first time. Then I was in some countries. I was in Azerbaijan 29th, had our wedding there in 2015. It happened after the pandemic. It happened in Copenhagen, malta, great Britain, glasgow and in 2019 in Azerbaijan.

Speaker 2:

What is the Conference of the countries? Developed countries help the developed countries in terms of their financial support. They encourage the use of energy sources in Beropol. They encourage the proper management of water. I said that each country have their own plans. For example, I am taking the. This is the result of the global leaders, experts, scholars and some decisions. As we know, the average temperature is kept at 1.5 degrees. We have been through many interesting projects. We have passed the exam successfully. We will play in Europe. I believe that this will be a perfect COP-29 project. It will bring great investment to our country. Our reputation is still in the international world. What I want to emphasize is that companies will take this into account, into consideration and will be in good shape, because I see that these new specialists will have a great impact in the village.

Speaker 1:

It is supporting young people, supporting ecological issues.

Speaker 2:

Some are starting to increase their population. Let them be. Our country will gain, as I said, some people I know only in ecological issues. They are contributing to grants, to ecological issues. Some people say that the COP is just an actual issue, but I say that our country should be free of the COP. Of course there is no suitable for the conditions. If you don't water it, it has no meaning.

Speaker 1:

It is not for planting a bird, it is a system I have witnessed that a tree is planted in a place that is not planned and then it is built. And then they come here and build a building Because, as I said before, there is a rule.

Speaker 2:

Sometimes people are in power, sometimes they are responsible. It is good to plant trees there is no need to count the benefits but it is not necessary to eat bread. There is a city planning issue and there is a law on the protection of Azerbaijan's green areas. There they showed all the details come to the building in the morning and then they remove the leaves. As I said, it is not acceptable to remove the leaves when you want to.

Speaker 2:

There are some common things. For example, there are some rules. For example, they remove the leaves. I saw this in practice. I did it in this case. I will show you later. There are rules in Azerbaijan. You bring a tree, you cut it and you cut another one. I don't accept cutting of a tree, but people should cut in the right place when they are cutting. If you see here, it is not a building maybe people are a little angry, but it is a building should be a certain distance between the trees. For example, if you plant it next to a tree, it will break the soil or there are certain requirements. Therefore, this should be resolved. Then it should be resolved. Also, if you can water it, if you can water it. If not, if not, these issues should be resolved. Then it should be resolved. You can also water it. If you can water it, you can water it. These issues should be taken into consideration.

Speaker 1:

I want to go back to COP 29. We talked about the importance of COP 29. Everyone understands the importance of COP 29 very well, but if we talk about it separately, I think it will be more clear. For example, what are the economic benefits of the COP29 in Azerbaijan?

Speaker 2:

As I said, azerbaijan has invested in other Arab companies Aqua Power, etc. I think this is more important than human potential. How many people and specialists are growing there In the future? It means to show positive effects on our economy. What is sustainable development? Sometimes people confuse it with the process of development. Sustainable development means that there are stages. There are three pillars the environment, the economy and the social. These three pillars should be developed at the same time. If you give strength to the surrounding environment, you will not be able to develop the economy. You need to protect the animals, protect the environment, etc. Here the environment will not improve. It is a decoupling effect. The environment will not be able to survive for centuries and the social development will not be able to survive for centuries. Therefore, the arrival of foreign investors and the future of investments are expected and this will have a significant economic impact on the country.

Speaker 1:

I think we should expand the complexion of the region 100% To develop everywhere.

Speaker 2:

Of course you don't have to develop all of them to give permanent development, or the economy, the environment, two, it will not be stable the same time. The chair must be built so that it does not break. The economy is important here. We are talking about the economic situation. But if we are not strong in the economic situation, we will have to apply new technologies. Here I don't know how to say new technology, new resources.

Speaker 1:

First of all, the major, major measures of Azerbaijan were some of them were rented In the oil and gas country. This is the case, but we have to remember that last year the UN was in the United States. How can the oil and gas country work with them? But this is the most important thing If the oil and gas country we will be the most important thing what do you think about this country?

Speaker 2:

We think that people will be like this, but this is not only about people. People should be educated. There are people who work here. There are people who work in the class, they try to do something, who are under the potential of the university, or who try to do something to improve the environment. Others do not sit there and do nothing, or they start to do something, to do something important. To understand this, we are not dependent on oil. We will not be able to withstand the use of oil. Oil is not the only thing. Other chemical products are also better than oil. There are many products in field than in chemical. In fact, the problem is the economy. Oil has a strong impact on our economy. At least we are trying to do something.

Speaker 2:

Those who talk about it say that they do not like the development of our country, but there is indeed a problem. I see that some people are writing in a wrong way. It is possible that it is an oil country, but if you want to say something, why do you deny it? It is possible that one country, even Azerbaijan, is a country, but there are 200 countries. Why did they decide to go to Azerbaijan. They decided to go to Azerbaijan because of this reason. Hopefully, it will happen in November and we will have serious results. It is normal. They will always talk. There is also the issue of what you say. If you say it with your mouth, they will say that it is good or not. Therefore, I think it is necessary to look at the future.

Speaker 1:

Speaking of the future, I would like to ask about future trends. How do you see the future in 10 years, in 5 years or 10 years?

Speaker 2:

I think hydrogen energy, decarbonization, carbon credit, carbon sales I said that for the development of certain technologies in solar energy, hydrogen energy is very popular. As I said, the issue of taking green hydrogen is important here. There is also a trend issue here and there is a issue of staying away from the neighbors. There is competition among people, as there is competition in the international world. If you want to have a strong and strong relationship, you have to continue this competition, because there are some tools that are mandatory. For example, in Europe, if you sell a product, you have to pay for it, or if you don't meet certain principles, you have to pay taxes or get a sanction.

Speaker 2:

You don't get a product, you say that you will increase the emission, or you don't have any specific measures. You can't get any carbon emissions. If you don't have any, your opponent will form a form and say that he has a certain amount of carbon emissions and he is offsetting it. This will reduce your reputation and you won't be able to compete. This will force our country and international companies to work on this.

Speaker 1:

And finally, I would like to ask the students of the Faculty of Engineering we always refer to the Faculty of Process Engineering in this context, but there is also the Faculty of Environment, and it seems that the current topic is more relevant. What do you want to say to those who want to study there.

Speaker 2:

I always say I don't say it only in this podcast. I studied chemistry and environmental science in the department. In the UK I studied ecology and environmental science, but most of my classes are chemistry and environmental science. I learned a lot there. I think the chemistry a difference between the chemical sciences in Azerbaijan and there. I learned about software, software materials etc. I also learned about accelerated design training.

Speaker 2:

The teacher says that the plant will have this much water and this much will come out. The whole plant will be affected by chemicals and the whole plant will be designed. The worker will be paid, the material will be paid. Everything will be taken into account and, according to me, the main elements are the elements of the elements. I think that the chemicals is the main subject of my research. I also see that students are interested in the field of theater. There are also students who are trained in theater. There are also families who are interested in theater. There are also students who are interested in the reports of 10 years. What will happen? What directions are there? I advise them, if they will go this way, they should definitely run for public affairs.

Speaker 2:

I ran for the IDF in the second year In 2012,. I won the first ESSEI competition. I got excited and started to train. It has been 12 years since then. I have made many good friends there. I have made many close friends there. I am sure that I will be able to train in different areas, for example, the increase of the network. I can see others there. For example, they go to certain trainings. They start to train on those trainings. I can train in other social activities as well and start working on it. I am a member of a big social organization. I have gained experience. I have worked with stakeholders. These soft skills are essential in modern times and manage the budget, risk planning, quality, human resources, etc.

Speaker 2:

They will make sure that all of these are properly processed. There are many templates and documents on the internet and there are also certificates that they work on themselves. You can see this link in the description. You can see the requirements of the ads. You can start from here and work on it. Iso 14001 certificate you can have an internal interpretation if you are an auditor. Nebosh environmental interpretation certificate. There is no empty environmental certification. I am sorry I sometimes use English words. No, of course not. There are many certifications. They are absolute. In the field of decarbonization. There is no single view on technology. This is close to chemical engineering Post combustion, pre combustion, oxy fuel. How does this happen? These are interesting processes and, as I said, there are also channels. Let's look at David Attenborough's Netflix channels. You can watch them and watch reports. It is important to work with reports. You can go to the PMT site and visit the interesting mountains and they can ask me any questions. I can go to the ecological sites and support them.

Speaker 1:

Thank you for the invitation. We appreciate your valuable thoughts and experiences. I would like to say that this conversation has caused a wide range of opinions on the part of the team.

Speaker 2:

Thank you very much. Thank you for the interesting questions. You have our information on this field. We are at the right point and I believe that this club will win big awards and will contribute to the development of our country. Thank you for inviting me. I wish you good luck. Thank you.
