This is our hundredth and fourth episode. Yes. All right. Thank you. Yes. You guys and gals that have been listeners, that have been guests, that have been sharing out this podcast, you guys all play a huge, crucial role into this one. So if you've never listened to the podcast before and you're tuning in to episode 105, which is the 104, sorry, which is the recap of the past two years, you might be thinking, like, well, I don't know if I can keep up. You'll be able to keep up. Don't worry. Okay, everything's going to be explained out and all that. Everyone's going to be reintroduced. So this one here, uh, we had tons of fun with this one. Um but uh you know we've uh we've come a long ways, and it's hard to believe that we've gotten here. And I'll I'll start off, you know, from the beginning, is uh a lot of several of you guys in this room are part of this, and I'm gonna introduce everybody quick though, right? Sitting right across from you got Scott, maniac McKillop. He's the concrete drilling go-getter. Next, we got the um city worker, Lane Lewis, the Moncton pothole watchers. We got the wondrous welder, Kyle Gillies, we've got the freaking firefighter slash milkman, Dalton Patterson, we've got the gingerbread builder, Caleb uh Jones, and then behind me, we've got the equipment salesman, sheep, uh extraordinaire, farmer, Logan keep a PG, uh Logan Elliott. But you guys, so you know, working uh working jobs and stuff that uh and equipment and things like that, driving truck. We've always talked on the phone, we'd have like group calls and stuff like that. We always listen to a lot of podcasts. I'll give you credit lane, lane you're like, you should start a podcast. I was like, I don't know, I'd like to start one. So then I did. I bought, I was like one of those people, I bought all the gear off Amazon, had it sitting in boxes for like a year. I'm like, I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna do it. Uh never did it. And then I didn't know how to start and what to do. And then Logan, you were part of this and Lane and stuff. We were going to uh an outdoor event in New Brunswick here, and the whole way there and the whole way back, everyone just talked about hunting. And I was like, that's it, I'll do a hunting podcast. I enjoy hunting, obviously, and stuff, and you'll never run out of stories at all. So we went from there. And then Lane, you and Brody were the first ones to do a podcast here. You guys talked about 12 bear in an open field. And uh remember we start we were like, you guys were nervous, I was nervous, and uh we're talking, and then I was like, guys, we're 15 minutes in. I was like, I didn't hit record. They're like, what? You guys are like wiping your hands because they're all clammy and sweaty, like wiping on each other, whatever you're doing. But um I was like, uh, yeah, so I started again. And since then, I've only done it a couple other times, but uh it we've come a long way. Also, um we're gonna go over

Well, that's what I want to talk about because Kyle, I'm looking at you too and stuff. Remember the first time I was like, Kyle, why don't you come out trivia night? You know, we're gonna have a trivia night, and that's great because there's a lot of people in here. You don't Kyle's like, I don't want to say anything. You don't want to say anything. Kyle shows up, like, hey, guess what? You're playing. Um, but that's what I want to talk about because you were real nervous. Dalton was super nervous. You guys, nothing now, right? And I want to talk to people about that because I've had some people that either calling in as a guest or to come on, they've been like, Oh, I don't know, I'm so nervous. And I'll tell you, out of over a hundred podcasts, I think I've had maybe four people who have done one before. That's it. Everyone else, first time ever. And it's the same thing every time that they're on. They're like nervous as hell. And then when it's done, they're like, Oh, that wasn't too bad. I'd do that again. Every time. Every time. Kyle, Dalton, you guys obviously said the same thing, but I mean, you know, everyone, it's been like that. So if you're on the fence about coming on and you're worried about it, just do it. It'll be fun. It'll be fun. Someone's like, that's not that bad. I'm like, well, I'm not gonna beat you in here while we're talking. Yeah, so it's looking at some stats tonight from uh my podcast hosts. So we're in over 41 countries. The podcast we're listening to in over 41 countries. So that was pretty cool. Uh we're in the top 25% of podcasts of all time, and the top three podcasts were in order, episode 28, Bighorn Sheep Hunting with Chris. That's been the top one. And you think so. This is another thing, too, because some people are like, well, I don't know if I have a good hunting story to go on there, like big enough kill. The number one podcast listened to on here, nothing was killed in it. Yeah, it was just the experience and how Chris prepares for it and all that. Nothing was killed. So something to keep in mind. The second one was episode 38, Female Footprints in the Hunting World with Kelsey. She's talking about she was the first female guest we had on here, besides Lane. And um, and uh she talks about yeah, being a girl in the hunting world and snaring and and trapping coyotes and stuff like that. So that was good. And the third one was episode 67, the black bear that outsmarted everyone finally meets his match. And that was about uh one of the guys talking that had hunted uh for this massive 600, I think it's just over 600 pound black bear in Maine with the hounds that people were after for I think almost 12 years. That was the one-eyed one. It was one-eyed one. I think the bear is damn near 12 years old. It was a really good story, and it was one of the ones um Jackson, who I got to meet and go hunting with for a day in Maine, he was tragically killed this past spring, and that was a real memorable hunt there. So that that's the third one. So um yeah, that uh that was pretty that was pretty cool, all those ones there. So those are the top ones. Um it's been quite a journey. I I'll tell you, probably the best part of doing this, and when starting it, I was like, where's it gonna end up? What countries? I didn't think it'd be over 41, and just the amount of people I've met on it. And also, it's been fun too, because I mean, uh, you guys, people have been listening to you guys from all over, and I like uh anyone though, I like giving them a platform to talk, you know, share your story. Everyone, everyone's got a story. Like, I don't know if it's big enough or this or that. And I was like, save that for the strippers because here on the bring podcast, your story's big enough, all right? Like

I was very I was very afraid when you were gonna start. I'm like, oh, that's this is gonna be one of Ken's little minor phases. He'll be into it for five or six months, and I'll get bored and shut it down. And oh, you've been consistent every Tuesday for two years.

Yes, every Tuesday morning if people haven't caught on yet when it comes out. But yes, thank you, Lane. No, like I said, it's been fun. And just the the people that I've had on, the people that I've met from all over and just having you guys out and uh giving people a chance to tell their story and you know say their thing. It's been uh it's been really cool. So I uh I'm not gonna choose my favorite podcast because all of them are my favorite. Good answer. But um I'll tell you my favorite style of ones. They take a bit more work on my end, but the trivia. I love the trivia. Kyle, we've had six trivia. I think you've been on five of them. Really? I think you've been on five out of the six. Um the trivia are the most fun. It's a bit more work because I gotta I do come up with the questions and the answers can come up with A, B, C, and D, and then write up something about you know the right answers. So you learn something, but those ones have been to me the most fun. The one that I learned probably the most of from was when um I had Ken Clemon, uh just because I like his name. No, um uh Ken Clemon from the National Bison Association. I think I learned the most on that one. I've learned a lot on all of them, but that one I I think I learned the most on, so that was uh that was interesting. And uh if I had to pick my favorite podcast profile picture though, there's a lot, but I think it was the deer trivia one. Because everyone just looks a little crazy and and uh it that was a that was a good podcast episode. But um shout out to Brody Garnett for Yeah, big shout out to Brody Garnett for anytime you s you look at it and you see a picture of more than one thing on the podcast profile picture, uh Brody did it. Because I don't know how to hardly turn on a computer and press the record button, so Brody does that. So thank you, Brody. But um go around the room. Uh just it's just a fun story to relive for myself personally, just because it very well knowing I'll probably never be able to shoot another whitale that large in my life around here. So it's just it was just a fun story to relive. So glad I was happy for Ken to call me and give me the chance to come on and just share that story along with all the other ones.

You're just telling hunt stories like your buddy, just like the day we drove up to Ferriton in the truck. Yeah. Any other time we get together, we end up doing the same thing. You can put mics in front of us and just post it really. Yeah. So no, it's been a it's been a really good time being on here. Glad you kept with it. It's glad to see it keep going for year three. We'll do the same thing.

You're kind of preserved, if you will.

You uh, so that was you and I, and uh that was still in the early days. I don't know if that was five or six. That was early. And um you yeah, you asked, I told about how my uncle and I went to Florida and all that and how we went about it on the hog hunt, and then yeah, you interviewed me basically. And that was that was good.

Our opposites work because when we had a taxidermist on here, um Dalton, there's comments that Dalton asked, uh he asked really good questions. Ones that I didn't think of because we have different speeds and different thoughts. And uh actually after that when I did have different people say, like, hey, Dalton asked like really good questions and and stuff. Like said when I remember you talking, I was like, huh, I never thought of that. Like uh were those animals alive at one point? That was a good question. Why do they look at me weird? Yeah, how do I know? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, exactly. So no, that's good. Kyle, you're up.

So and then you've been on here too. Uh yeah, the bow hunting one with Logan, um just just uh helping out co host that's oh yeah, yeah, Logan, glad you brought that up. So when I do the introduction. And um, but I had a lot of comments actually, Logan, that you did a really good job when we did that bow hunting one. You're talking about your basic introduction to bow hunting. Trivia Nights And What We Learned

That's good. I'm glad you see, but you you're glad you came out now because so many people are nervous, and then it's like, man, when it's done, it's it's no big deal, you know. It's a big deal to me, because I appreciate it. Lane, you helped start it. And Lane Lane, this was kind of his idea for the two-year thing. I'll give you credit for that as well. And uh for doing this, and then last year you weren't able to make it, but when we did our one-year anniversary, we did our dream hunts one. That was your idea too, so thanks for that.

No problem. Lane, what's your I got narrowed down to two for different reasons. Uh one of them was the bear hunt that Caleb and Brody did. Yes, the three line hunts. I was on I had access to Brody's cameras the whole time, so I kind of got a glimpse of the action, but they had no cell phone service. Oh. So I couldn't get updates from them throughout the week. And then when they came back, I kept asking Brody questions. Like, no, I'm not telling you you have to listen to the podcast.

All the updates. And yeah, it was it was kind of cool because I was kind of filling in the blanks from what I could see from pictures, like that guy that uh didn't load his gun because I saw pictures of them walking into the bait, and then I'm watching the camera, I'm like, okay, like there's a bear in front of the barrel, and then I seen him leave, I'm like, oh, they must have shot it, and kind of find out they didn't. And my other one was uh Caleb's uh caribou hunt.

I had uh I had two coyotes on camera, so I figured I'd just said two coyotes, so I figured I'd phone a friend, you know, just in case two coyotes come out, two guns. Guess who shows up without a gun?

I said the coyotes are gonna come up from our left because they're gonna try to get the wind of the call going.

Anyway, so he's barking, so we go in the woods, and then it starts we can't walk that quietly, like there's some snow, and then there's too many damn trees and stuff, and then it's like I don't know where he is, and then all of a sudden Cal's like, there he goes running! I'm like, What? And uh I didn't see him. Did you shoot? No, then not then. Anyway, so then we see him running, we're like, that was crazy, like we'll never see him again, but we'll just follow his tracks away and all that. And then sure enough, what was it, five, ten minutes later? You he was stopped or almost stopped.
