Spencer Moore is a female health advocate originally from North Carolina and based in Barcelona, Spain for the past 10 years. She founded The Hairy Chin platform and hosts The Hairy Chin Podcast, where she educates women in the how of health advocacy, teaching them the skills to actively participate in their healthcare and beyond.
She came to Barcelona from the US for an intensive art school program in 2016 - she has been a life long creative/studio artist and was going through a transition after ending a serious relationship. She immediately felt so at home in Barcelona, a city she had no connection to at the time, and when her program ended, she decided to move to Barcelona for a period of time and explore the authentic version of herself she met there.
This was over 10 years ago, and she has built a life from scratch there. It was the most unexpected but also the best decision she ever made for herself.
She has battled chronic health conditions (immune dysfunction and inflammatory diseases) my entire life, but so much changed in 2023 when she was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer from her very first screening mammogram. She was so shocked at the diagnosis she wanted to learn as much as she could, and through it she became a Breast Health Educator, to teach other women about breast health, breast cancer and breast cancer prevention.
In her sessions she saw the change women made in one hour from being empowered and educated about their body and their health - something that has been left out of female health education.
It inspired her so much she decided to become a female health advocate and shifted her career from graphic design/audiovisual work, to starting The Hairy Chin platform and podcast.
