That's my heart for this"},{"startTime":48.97,"endTime":52.41,"body":"theme and the Devos this week. Today I want to talk about another"},{"startTime":52.41,"endTime":55.88,"body":"indicator. And I actually want to start with the"},{"startTime":55.88,"endTime":59.72,"body":"verse. It's Psalms 139, 23. And it says"},{"startTime":59.72,"endTime":63.56,"body":"this. Search me God, and know my heart. Test me and know my"},{"startTime":63.56,"endTime":67.2,"body":"anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way"},{"startTime":67.2,"endTime":70.6,"body":"in me and lead me in the way everlasting."},{"startTime":71.64,"endTime":74.2,"body":"You know, this can be a really difficult verse to pray."},{"startTime":75.4,"endTime":78.44,"body":"Because man, when we ask God to search, he will search."},{"startTime":80.57,"endTime":83.85,"body":"If you leave it to the Lord to sniff out something,"},{"startTime":84.49,"endTime":88.33,"body":"he's gonna sniff it out. And I know that there are times"},{"startTime":88.33,"endTime":92.01,"body":"in my life that I find myself not wanting to pray this"},{"startTime":92.01,"endTime":95.65,"body":"prayer. And I don't know if it's out of rebellion, I don't know if it's"},{"startTime":95.65,"endTime":98.09,"body":"out of fear that he's gonna find something."},{"startTime":99.29,"endTime":102.17,"body":"But sometimes it's cause I feel like I don't need it."},{"startTime":103.85,"endTime":107.48,"body":"And that indicator is pride. I want to talk about"},{"startTime":107.48,"endTime":110.44,"body":"pride a little bit today because pride is such a"},{"startTime":111.72,"endTime":115.36,"body":"quiet, sneaky fox that"},{"startTime":115.36,"endTime":119.08,"body":"comes up, digs up stuff. And what's"},{"startTime":119.08,"endTime":122.84,"body":"scary is we don't even know that we have it. I was talking"},{"startTime":122.84,"endTime":126.28,"body":"to somebody the other day about pride, and they were talking to me"},{"startTime":126.68,"endTime":129.48,"body":"and they were like, yeah, is that something that you struggle with? And it was"},{"startTime":129.48,"endTime":132.36,"body":"funny because I'm like, you know, I'm really not a prideful person. And I think"},{"startTime":132.36,"endTime":135.4,"body":"it's because I saw pride as being like stubborn."},{"startTime":136.59,"endTime":140.27,"body":"So if I was stubborn in my ways, if I had an opinion and I"},{"startTime":140.27,"endTime":143.99,"body":"was strong with that opinion, or you can't influence"},{"startTime":143.99,"endTime":147.83,"body":"me, like, this is what I believe. I thought that was pride. Like, you"},{"startTime":147.83,"endTime":151.35,"body":"just can't admit that you're wrong. And then I started to realize that"},{"startTime":151.35,"endTime":155.15,"body":"pride was so Much more. And really what pride does is"},{"startTime":155.15,"endTime":158.99,"body":"slowly but surely it blinds us to the areas in"},{"startTime":158.99,"endTime":162.71,"body":"our life that we need to fix. I'd even say"},{"startTime":162.71,"endTime":166.51,"body":"this, and I want to say this humbly, if you struggled"},{"startTime":167.07,"endTime":170.63,"body":"listening to this podcast the last three days, then maybe that"},{"startTime":170.63,"endTime":174.39,"body":"is an example of pride. Maybe"},{"startTime":174.39,"endTime":178.23,"body":"that's an indicator of pride because we don't want to look"},{"startTime":178.23,"endTime":182.07,"body":"at the things that we might not be doing right. I think"},{"startTime":182.07,"endTime":185.83,"body":"if we struggle asking and saying this prayer, search me, God, and"},{"startTime":185.83,"endTime":189.51,"body":"know my heart, if we struggle doing that, then that is an indicator"},{"startTime":189.51,"endTime":193.28,"body":"of pride in our lives. That is showing us that we have pride."},{"startTime":193.28,"endTime":196.4,"body":"Pride is not being able to sit before the Lord and say, search me,"},{"startTime":197.04,"endTime":200.8,"body":"God. If there's anything here, pride is. Is holding on"},{"startTime":200.8,"endTime":204.6,"body":"to the things that we know, the things that we believe, the opinions that we"},{"startTime":204.6,"endTime":208.199,"body":"have. That is pride. If we can't lay that down, then all we"},{"startTime":208.199,"endTime":211.92,"body":"are is just prideful. All we are is"},{"startTime":211.92,"endTime":215.56,"body":"saying, God, you don't know, but I know. And what ends up"},{"startTime":215.56,"endTime":219.16,"body":"happening is when we have a life of pride, a heart of"},{"startTime":219.16,"endTime":222.9,"body":"pride, then we actually start to push away"},{"startTime":223.46,"endTime":227.22,"body":"conviction. You see, the opposite of pride, yes, is"},{"startTime":227.22,"endTime":230.98,"body":"humility. We need to humble ourselves, but if we never humble ourselves,"},{"startTime":230.98,"endTime":234.58,"body":"we never get to a place where we can feel convicted and we respond to"},{"startTime":234.58,"endTime":238.3,"body":"the conviction of the Holy Spirit. Conviction has been something that's"},{"startTime":238.3,"endTime":242.06,"body":"really been speaking to me, and really this whole pride conversation"},{"startTime":242.06,"endTime":245.3,"body":"has been speaking to me lately. And the Lord's been challenging me on this because,"},{"startTime":246.11,"endTime":249.83,"body":"funny enough, that conversation that I had with my friend, I realized from that"},{"startTime":249.83,"endTime":253.55,"body":"convo that I was very prideful. I am very"},{"startTime":253.55,"endTime":257.23,"body":"prideful. I believe I know the whole story. I believe"},{"startTime":257.23,"endTime":260.91,"body":"I have all the information that I need, and I believe I have"},{"startTime":260.91,"endTime":263.95,"body":"the intelligence and the wisdom to make a decision."},{"startTime":264.91,"endTime":268.63,"body":"And I've learned recently that I'm wrong and it's okay to be wrong. You"},{"startTime":268.63,"endTime":272.4,"body":"know why? Because I don't know the whole story. The wrong in that"},{"startTime":272.4,"endTime":276.24,"body":"is believing that we do know the whole story. The wrong is when we"},{"startTime":276.24,"endTime":279.92,"body":"hold onto our own opinion and we"},{"startTime":279.92,"endTime":283.6,"body":"are right. It's fine not being right. It's fine if you're"},{"startTime":283.6,"endTime":287.279,"body":"wrong, because that brings us to a place of humility. And when"},{"startTime":287.279,"endTime":291.08,"body":"we're in a humble place, that's when we're able to hear and feel"},{"startTime":291.08,"endTime":294.88,"body":"the conviction of the Holy Spirit. A scary thing in life is when we"},{"startTime":294.88,"endTime":298.52,"body":"don't feel that conviction. And I believe it"},{"startTime":298.52,"endTime":302.08,"body":"shows us that there's pride in our lives. We've pushed away. We haven't"},{"startTime":302.08,"endTime":305.68,"body":"answered. We haven't responded to the conviction. And"},{"startTime":305.68,"endTime":309.24,"body":"then we go back to the root of that. And then there's pride. And we"},{"startTime":309.24,"endTime":312.56,"body":"think we have it all together. And pride is an"},{"startTime":312.56,"endTime":316.4,"body":"indicator. Or I think, I think us knowing and"},{"startTime":316.4,"endTime":319.2,"body":"us believing that we have it all together and it not working out, I think"},{"startTime":319.2,"endTime":323.0,"body":"that's an indicator of pride. But that's an ungodly indicator. When there's pride in"},{"startTime":323.0,"endTime":326.56,"body":"our hearts, it's an ungodly indicator. It's not"},{"startTime":326.8,"endTime":330.6,"body":"casting our cares before the Lord. It's not putting God first. It's not putting"},{"startTime":330.6,"endTime":334.08,"body":"his opinion first. It's putting ourselves"},{"startTime":334.08,"endTime":337.88,"body":"first. And this is a really hard pill to swallow for some"},{"startTime":337.88,"endTime":341.6,"body":"of us, for all of us. But I think it's good to be reminded"},{"startTime":341.6,"endTime":345.32,"body":"that God is on the throne, not us. God"},{"startTime":345.32,"endTime":348.56,"body":"knows the story, we don't. God says"},{"startTime":349.77,"endTime":353.53,"body":"yes and amen. We don't. What God says is"},{"startTime":353.53,"endTime":357.13,"body":"true. It's not what we say is true, but we can"},{"startTime":357.13,"endTime":360.97,"body":"hold on to what God says is true. And we can hold"},{"startTime":360.97,"endTime":364.69,"body":"on that he is on the throne. We can trust. We may"},{"startTime":364.69,"endTime":368.53,"body":"not have it all, but. We know the One who has it all. And let"},{"startTime":368.53,"endTime":372.33,"body":"us rest in that and Pray this prayer daily.
