You're listening to the My Morning Devotional Podcast, episode 1465. Today's devo is called, "Yes, Parents.". Hey there! We're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to-do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a 5-minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast. Good morning everybody, and I hope that my devos have blessed you all this week. They kind of took a crazy turn. By the way, my name is Stephanie Molina and thanks for tuning in today. I'm going to be talking to the parents, any mothers and fathers that are going through the hard days with kids. This one is for you, and if you don't have kids, please listen because you will need this information for later. I promise you. Well, it's been a crazy week. I started off with celebrity gossip and drama and tied it into Bible verses. So go check it out if you haven't heard it. It's a lot of fun. And then yesterday I spoke on, um, the heart change that I've had recently and how the Lord has really helped me find contentment in him. So go check that out if you haven't heard it. And today I'm gonna talk about parenthood, something very different. And if you don't know, I have 2 kids. I have Gianna, who is 3 and a half, she's gonna be 4 in May. And then I have my boy Matthew, who is 2 years old. He's my little crazy person, my adventurer, my challenger. He is the one, much like his mother. Unfortunately, I passed it on to him, but they are so much fun. And can I tell you, and I'm sure you relate to this, the person that I am today is very different from who I was before kids. I have changed overnight and what I thought was right for kids a lot of the times I've learned is not very true when it comes to realistically parenting a child. I had opinions of parenting before and they haven't really changed. They've just been altered a little bit because I have two little babies. They wanna do everything at all times. And I have to teach them at all times. We're in this fun dynamic of child who wants to go run crazy and mother who wants to teach them to be less crazy. And sometimes it can turn into days of constant disciplining and constant teaching and constant, don't go over there, don't play with that, don't do that to your brother, don't do that to your sister, stop fighting. And you can sometimes feel like you are the no parent all the time. Now, there's a part of that that you have to do. As parents, we have to train up our children in the way that they should go. And my daughter Gia, I know some of you might be thinking it's too early to do that for her, but she is so advanced mentally. And if you have a child that is so advanced, you'd understand you've gotta dig deep into your own wisdom, because they will do things and say things you had no idea they knew about. So it's normal to have to spend every single day having to discipline them. But lately I've been reading the word, and I've been getting some information from Proverbs 23:24, and it says, the father of the righteous will greatly rejoice, and he who fathers a wise son will be glad in him. Let your father and your mother be glad, and let her rejoice who gave birth to you. You know, this is just my small encouragement to the parents today that might be tired, that might feel like they're always saying no and always disciplining. Don't forget that us as parents have to be the glad ones. We have to be the joy carriers. We have to want— be the ones bringing happiness and laughter throughout the entire day, even on the hard days. And there are moments where you have to get strong and you have to get hard and you have to put your foot down. But every once in a while, try to practice being the yes parent, the one who's allowed to say yes to candy at 10 o'clock, or yes to going to the park randomly, or yes to wearing those princess heels and princess dresses to the restaurant. I want to create a childhood for my kids that's fun and memorable and free so that they look at me and they find comfort, they find safety. They know that I'm going to bring joy into the situation. Now, mom also has her boundaries. Mom also has her principles, but at least mom is going to be the one that's glad. And that comes from a heart that truly has a love for parenting. It's very easy to lose that joy. Let's just be honest, it is very easy for us to even wonder, what are we doing? Am I doing this right? There's too many kids in this house. There's too many toys. Let's get rid of all of it. I don't like this anymore. I don't like the sleeping stuff. I don't like the feeding stuff. There are days where you will hit a wall, and on those days you have to dig deep and search for the love you have for parenting. You will always love your child, but every once in a while the parenting can get very frustrating. And there is so much beauty in taking a step back and saying, I love being a mom. I love being a dad. I love the crazy nights. I love the crazy mornings. I love the crazy car rides. I love the messes. If you just speak that over your life and speak that over your house, the love for parenting will come back again, and you will be that joyful parent that your kids need. So I hope that encourages you this weekend. I hope that you've been encouraged this past week from all of the Devos and that you gained some wisdom from our celebrity drama. And I pray that you guys can come back and we can have more Devos together. Let's pray. God, thank you so much for this week of gaining more wisdom and pursuing you. I pray that everybody listening will just learn more about you this weekend, that nothing will knock them off track, that they will have clear rides to church on Sunday morning, and that we will be back together on Monday for our next set of devos. And I pray that you will just constantly pour into us and encourage us and give us the peace that we need to get through the weekend. And in Jesus' name we all pray. Amen. So there you have it, your 5-minute daily dose of heaven. Thank you so much for tuning in today. We pray these devotionals empower you to take on your day. If you found value in this devotional, share it with a friend, leave a comment or review for us on the app you're using right now. Until tomorrow, we pray that your latte is strong but your love for Jesus is stronger.
