Hey there, we're the Alessis, a ministry family working together in our church in Miami, Florida. And if you're like us, when days get busy and to-do lists get longer, it can be hard to find devotional time. That's why we've partnered with our friend Allison to produce a five-minute daily dose of heaven. This is the My Morning Devotional Podcast.

Richelle Alessi

Good morning, everybody, and happy Wednesday. Welcome back to My Morning Devotional Podcast. My name is Rishelle Alesi, and I get to be with you this week. We have made it to the middle of the week, and I really hope that this week so far is blessed you as we are going through some of the promises that the Lord gives us as we're going through something in our lives. Good or bad, hard or easy, the Lord promises to be with us at all times. And it is so wonderful that we serve such a faithful God that He promises to be with us and gives us promises that fills us up with hope and with peace. And that makes us victorious over every single situation. So I encourage you to keep listening, to keep reading your Bible, seek the Lord every single day. I promise you, uh walk with the Lord is going to be the best thing you've ever experienced in your life, despite the hard moments that you experience in life. In fact, we get to experience him in such a deeper level when we go through those things. And it's so hard to see it in the moment, but when we are on the other side, man, you just know the Lord is faithful. And so today we are going to be reading from Psalm 37, 3 to 6. And it says, Trust in the Lord and do good. Dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your ways to the Lord, trusting him, and he will act. And here are the things that he will do when you do that. Ready? He will bring forth your righteousness as the light and your justice as the noon day. This is such a beautiful verse. And if you notice, some of these verses we've heard in this podcast before, but I wanted to go a little bit deeper because sometimes these are such good verses that they stand alone, but they're part of a big chapter. And it's beautiful because as we keep reading, we see what the Lord promises to do when we truly take these verses to heart and act on them. And we've talked a lot about this week about trusting the Lord, because trusting in the Lord is never a waste of time. And he gives us commandments here. He says, Well, you're trusting in me, do good. Do not feel like you have to give up. You can still do good things that you trust him. And as you dwell in the land, befriend faithfulness, guys. The Lord is faithful to us. Let's be faithful back. In every little thing, small or big, let's be faithful as we trust him. And I love this part. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. You know, this verse sometimes we see it as I'm gonna delight myself in the Lord because he is going to give me what I want. But in reality, what we see in this verse is when we put the Lord first and we delight in him, no matter what, then he will give us the desires of our heart. Why? Because in our hearts there's nothing above him, there's nothing that we want more than him. He is our all. We trust him and we say, I'm delighting in the Lord no matter what. And the good and the bad and the ugly, I am going to delight in him because I love him, because I want to experience the Lord in every area. And I am not going to let the circumstances of life or the things that I want keep me from delighting in him because he is first in my life, he is all in my life. The things that I want are not the priority in my life. The things that I desire are not the priority in my life. God is, he is my all. I'm going to delight in him, spend time with him. And in that, the Lord says, I will give you the desires of the heart. But this is such a beautiful promise that says, Do not worry about the things that you need or you want. I got those things. Just don't forget about me. Spend time with me. It's still let me be your all because I already got those things for you. So you don't have to worry about those things. But you and me, this relationship between us and God needs to be our all. Needs to be where we run when we feel sad, when we feel confused, when we need comfort. It also needs to be the place that we run to when we're happy, when we filled with joy, and we just thank him for everything he's done. Our life with Christ, we should delight on him at all times, no matter what. Because he has those things that you desire. Not worrying about those things, but let's spend this time truly delighting in the Lord. And as we commit to him, it says that he will act. I love that it actually says, Commit your ways to the Lord, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as light and your justice as the noonday. The Lord is with you. The Lord loves you. He makes sure that justice happens in your life at his due time, in his way. You don't have to keep fighting on your own. You don't have to feel like you're fighting for something on your own to be heard for the injustice that's happened in your life. The Lord knows it all. He knows the desires of your heart. He knows what you've gone through. He knows what really breaks your heart, what where it hurts, the things that you don't understand. He knows it all. But he says, trust in him, still do good, dwell in his land, befriend faithfulness, delight in him, commit your ways to him, and he will act. So take today as a he's got me already. So now let me spend this time making sure I seek him and I get to know him deeper. Let's pray. Dear Father God, we want to thank you for always providing a way for us, Father. We are not alone ever in any situation. You're always with us. You have always provided a way. You go before us. And as we acknowledge that today, we thank you for all the ways that you have made, the ways that you are making and will make, Lord. And we say we trust in you. But today we're gonna take some time to bless your name, to delight in you, to praise you, to worship you, to tell you how much we love you. And we do not forget how important those moments with you are, Father. That you are our all, that everything comes from you, that our time spent with you is never a waste of time. In fact, it is the foundation of everything we do. Our time with you, Lord, is what allows us to be and act and do things from an overflow, Father, because of all the time that we spent with you. And even though we know that you know the things we need, Father, we will not just spend our time asking, but we will also spend our time blessing your name. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
