Welcome to Success Through Scars, the podcast where we turn our most painful struggles into our greatest success stories. I'm Annie Esso, a multi-passionate entrepreneur, business mentor, and professional singer who's overcome anorexia C-P-T-S-D, depression and anxiety. Each week, you'll hear powerful stories of resilience from people who have transformed their deepest pains into testimonies of strength. If you are feeling lost or broken, but have big goals, you are in the right place. Whether your scar comes from a traumatic past, a breakup, a near death experience, or a mental health struggle, remember this, your scars are proof that you survived and scar tissue rebuilds and repairs itself, and you come out stronger on the other side. I hope this podcast can bring you the hope you need to keep going. Let's walk this journey of finding success through scars together. Why can't I do things? Why can I just not get it together? I'm lazy. I have no discipline. I should be better than this. I'm self-sabotaging. Okay. These are all thoughts that have come up in my brain in the past week. So I feel like if I have struggled with this, then you all have probably struggled with it too. So I want to peel back the curtain today and show you what goes through my brain as a six figure entrepreneur who has been a business owner for about seven years. Who has honestly been coasting at the same level for the past four years, who is now going through a major uplevel of expansion and not coasting. I coasted for four years because I needed to let my nervous system heal and jumped back into things and jump back into them hard, in the same old way that I used to do things when I would. Get burnt out and then be really exhausted and feel like I wasn't doing enough and that type of thing, which I've had ebbs and flows of that my whole life. I think we all do. I think it's just normal to be cyclical, especially as women. If you're a woman listening to this, it's so normal to be cyclical, to have times when you feel exhausted and times when you feel. Super motivated and energized, that's just life. You're not gonna be the same all the time. Anyways, I am talking to the person who is pushing toward a new version of yourself. Whether you are trying to grow a business or you maybe enter into a new relationship, which is a level up in and of itself, or you are just healing from something and maybe a breakup and you're trying to. Just get back to homeostasis. Or maybe you're on a weight loss journey or a fitness journey. Sometimes you'll reach this point where you're like, why is this not working? Like, why can't I get it together? What am I doing wrong? And then you look at your calendar and you're like, oh, I have all these things on my calendar, but I feel exhausted and I don't feel like doing them. Yeah, babe, that's burnout. This means that your nervous system basically is feeling unsafe and you're feeling exhausted and you've been carrying a lot of emotional weight, and you need to shift something or take a break or rest or relax or else your body is going to take that break for you. Like today, I had a massive migraine and nausea and was just feeling super sick and actually. Thought that I might have had the flu, but I didn't. Thank goodness.'cause after a day, I'm already feeling a lot better I'm gonna take one more day to rest before I have to get into some gigs for the weekend. Basically the message that I want to share with you is that if you have been feeling this way. You've been carrying a lot of emotional weight. You are processing a level up in some way. You're feeling burnt out, you're feeling overstimulated. That is not a sign to push through or to let your internal thoughts tell you that you're lazy or that you have no discipline or that you should be doing something else. That is a sign to completely rest and recharge and let your body calibrate to the level that you're trying to calibrate to. Because when you're going through a level up of any kind, like your schedule starts getting busier, you're actually doing a lot more emotional processing, which is energetic behind the scenes. You're doing a lot more of that than you probably think you are. And it can lead to some dysregulation, which is normal. Like our nervous systems are not gonna be regulated all the time, but it's normal to feel tired. Even if it doesn't look like you're doing a lot on the outside, because you're doing a lot of internal work that people are not seeing, so it's like you're healing self-limiting beliefs. You are asking yourself how to become the next level version of yourself. You are taking aligned actions to do those things and. It can be very tiring. Sometimes like in a way you feel like a new version of yourself, but then you're also grieving the old version of yourself. So there's a lot there. And if you are in this position, I just really hope that this podcast is the permission slip for you to take the time and rest and space that you need to let your body recalibrate and let your nervous system soften and let yourself relax. You do not need to be harder on yourself right now. You actually need to come back home to yourself and feel safe within your body again after a big change. Another great example of this is, so you all know that I coached unfit for many years and I still do, and that's a huge transformation, right? A lot of times people go from feeling like they're lazy and that's the reason why they gained weight to understanding that it actually is. A feeling of safety within their nervous system that they need to cultivate. Because for women, a lot of it is hormonal. And if you don't know that, go look at some of my fitness content. Scroll all the way back on my social media. Check out my Empowered By Exercise Program, check out my Strength for Singers program. If you're a woman who has gained weight, a lot of the reason is because of nervous system dysregulation and not feeling safe in your body, which affects your cortisol, and then your hormone production and your body holds onto fat because it does not feel safe releasing it. If you are listening to this and you know that to be true for yourself, then it is true for yourself. You don't need more hustle and workouts and restriction and all those things, you actually need to get softer and safer within your own body and feel calm within your own body and work out and eat in a way that is aligned with your highest level self. So I hope that this resonated with you if you're going through this. If you are, you're in good company. I am also in a transformation portal, if you will, right now, and I'm walking through it with you so you're not alone. I will have something coming super soon that will help you through this kind of deep embodied transformation. And I can't wait to share it with you. I'm super excited to launch it. It's gonna be my life's work. The program is going to be called Uplevel. If you're interested in that, DM me the word Uplevel and I'll add you to the wait list. This work is needed now even more than ever because a lot of it is about leveling up through painful things that you've been through, or using your struggles as your strengths, using your scars as your strengths to become successful, which is what this podcast is about, right? So I'm really excited to share that with you. If you resonated with this podcast, I would love if you could subscribe and also leave a review for me that'll help more people to find this podcast. I hope this resonated with you and I will talk to you on the next one. Bye.
