Unknown Speaker 0:00
Good morning, darling.
Unknown Speaker 0:02
Good morning and welcome to another episode of me my mom and the internet. I can't believe you got rid of this.
Unknown Speaker 0:11
This is our third episode.
Unknown Speaker 0:14
We've done and we've talked about Superbowl performances, Travis and Kelsey. Yeah, costs are still going strong sex. Yeah, yeah. scandals. Everything we talked about would now with Travis and Taylor they're saying this is going to be the true test because she doesn't have any concerts going on. And he's not playing games right now. So they're gonna be together together like regular people, like regular people are gonna get on each other's nerves. Yeah, gonna be able to go the distance.
Unknown Speaker 0:42
Summer of 2024 Yeah. Oh my god. Wow.
Unknown Speaker 0:47
Okay, so yeah, let's just how are you feeling this morning? Are you feeling ready for another episode? I am. Okay, here we go. I have my coffee. I have my coffee to do somewhere over there. I got some Starbucks. Yeah, I ate some burrito. Ooh, yeah. Burrito. It is the best. Yeah, yes. I get it. I think the breakfast that I can actually I don't actually don't like big breakfast is more of like a smoothie or an oatmeal or something to have the person but big breakfast burrito, but it's the best. Yeah, my favorite. Yeah. And I mean, I eat pretty healthy. But sometimes, if I eat healthy too much in a row, I start dreaming of like kindness or the burrito is like the size of my arm. Yeah, totally. Like or like a Subway sandwich or a jersey. My I start dreaming of food. Like yeah, like not healthy food. Like it's okay. I mean food. Yeah, live your best life. YOLO YOLO.
Unknown Speaker 1:38
Oh my gosh. Okay. And also, like, I thought we could, you know, talk about a little bit like, what have you been up to? Also like, what are you listening to? What are you watching on the media? You know, what's your latest obsession? On the way here through traffic, which wasn't too bad. I was listening to Radiohead. Oh, yeah. I was belting out creep. Okay. Yeah, he's doing my thing. And it's a classic Radiohead song. Yes, it's so good. I know a lot of people who do like covers and stuff and they always that's like always a requested easy they're so good and they always sell out. Yeah, when they come to San Diego. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 2:13
I'm trying to think what if I'm in this I've been listening to r&b A lot I've been listening to
Unknown Speaker 2:18
baby making music at all times of the day. I don't know I just like I like singers and voices and stuff like that. So r&b for sure who Luther Vandross is, or Barry White? Very white. I've heard of Yes, but Mary he's made he's Yeah. Oh gee, baby making music. I know. There was a golden era of baby making music in like the early 2000s. I feel like that's when r&b was like the boy was is was it like a genuine assure D'Angelo tank, like all these RMB Good thing I didn't listen to you
Unknown Speaker 2:51
could have had more civil? Oh my gosh. Yeah. Okay, so that's really listening to what about what you've been like watching? Are you still on a Real Housewives of Salt Lake City? Yeah. And then I started watching the trader show. It's a show where people are traders, they pick on like 20 people or something like that. They pick three traders and the rest are faithfuls and they do like tasks and then they vote people off and then the other people don't know who the traders are. And the goal is I guess to be the last one I just started watching okay, but then don't at the end they vote who they think the trader is and they may think you're a trader when you're actually a faithful, but then you have to get in the circle of truth.
Unknown Speaker 3:33
And you have to tell people you know what, I'm actually not a traitor. I'm a faithful and then everybody who voted you all feels bad because you weren't a bad guy the traitor could you are faithful haters, so yeah, so I just started watching that and I'm like, kind of like, do I like this? Don't I like it but it's kind of like mindless TV to be multitasking. Doing something crafting right? Whatever. I'm doing painting rocks or whatever. Yeah. And, you know, watching it kind of not watching it. That's cool. Yeah, that's cool. What are you watching? I haven't been watching much because I've been traveling a lot. But me and Sydney are watching shameless. So good. And don't know spoilers wrong, like season three. There's like 11 episodes, but it's worth it. Yeah, it's it's so crazy. The resourcefulness of this family inspires me. I'm like, should I still call each other even though so dysfunctional? Anybody who hasn't seen shameless needs to watch shameless, because, you know, mom's orders. Yes. It's really, really good. Yeah. Um, all right. Well, do you want to jump into our first topic of the day? Are you ready? What's our first topic? Our first topic of the day is our top five award show moments. Yeah. They could be any award show could be the Oscars, the VMAs, the Grammys, anything like that. Do you have your five? Well, this was hard for me because I don't watch a lot of award shows. So you want to go first? Yeah, I'll go first. And we'll start before we'll start it. Yeah, we'll do that. Let's do the back and forth and let's start at five. Let's start with our least favorite. Okay.
Unknown Speaker 5:00
Have you won. Okay, so my number five on award show moments is Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams Best Kiss award at the 2005 MTV Movie horns. Yeah. And I just thought it was really cool and fun because they won Best Kiss at the MTV Movie Awards for the notebook. And when they got on stage, they don't say anything. They don't walk to the podium, they just split apart on the stage and you're like, what's happening? And then all of a sudden, then Ryan Gosling gestures to Rachel McAdams like, come on over here. And then Rachel McAdams runs across the stage, almost like a, like a movie moment. And then it while Maroon Five is playing in the background. So it's all a vibe. And then they she jumps on Ryan Gosling and gives him like this big kiss. And everyone's like, Oh, my God. Like, yeah, because it was such a moment. And it was perfect for those two, like cute people. And it was a notebook. And it was so sad. I know. I watched it. And then I was kind of like, sorry, I watched it. And I'm like, I don't like movies like that. They affect me. Yeah. And like, and like Marley and Me, said, I didn't haven't watched don't watch it. Yeah, I don't, stuff like that. But that was my number five because of just the like, pre planning on Ryan Dawson and Rachel McAdams. And it was just so it was just like, Oh, right. We ruin a moment. Here. Yeah. Okay, what's your number five? Well, I had a hard time because that's like, lower on the list. Well, it was like Tom Hanks. When he won Best Actor for Philadelphia. I heard he lost a lot of weight because he had to show that he had AIDS and he ended up in the movie dying. Spoiler alert.
Unknown Speaker 6:39
You're supposed to say spoiler alert before you know.
Unknown Speaker 6:44
Sorry, people. Okay. Okay. Anyway, so he he lost a lot of weight for this role. And he's Tom Hanks. So he did great. So he won the award. But at the end, within his acceptance speech at the Oscars, he he spoke about how he met people, you know, H AIDS patients who now are, at that point, when he got the awards are no longer alive, right. And he started to get really choked up and how this was for that. And back in the 80s. It was scary because people didn't know Right? You know, if you you know, if you how you could catch it, or there were a lot of unknowns, right people who had it were really discriminated against. Yeah, the gay community and that so you know, and a lot of people like Rock Hudson died that Freddie Mercury and that but his acceptance speech Tom Hanks gave was really moving. So it was kind of it was really nice, because he was he really put his all into that. And it showed because he won the award. Yeah. And he's a good guy, like all around. So like the fact that he gets you know, choked up for some, you know, movement or a role that he played and he really took it seriously doesn't surprise me at all, because he just seems like a great writer, great person that he's just like, feel, I bet he just feels it. You know, you get immersed in that character, which makes the best actors the best and actresses the best because they literally get immersed in that character. That's really cool. Yeah, my number four award show moment is Leo DiCaprio winning the Best Actor in the 2016 Oscars, because it was his first Oscar was in 2016 for The Revenant. The Revenant which is the one where you got attacked by that bear. Yeah, yeah. But I remember watching it actually watched it when I was in Idlewild was Sydney. We were on like a little vacation or whatever. And it was a moment because people were like, is Leo gonna win his first Oscar because he had done Titanic he had done I think The Great Gatsby he had done like all these other movies that were amazing. And I'm sure I'm missing a bunch. But Gilbert Grape I think he was yeah, he wasn't good. Like, he and he's an amazing actor. And it wasn't until 2016 That he won his first Oscar and it was for the Revenant which I did watch that movie. And it was really really, really good. It was just about the guy like it. Yeah, um, yeah, it was just good. It was about this guy. Kind of like being a nomad traveling through and he's trying to, he's like a snow. He's trying to he's surviving. Like if you went over there, you know? How did he end up? You know, I actually forgot but I will never forget that bear scene where he's getting attacked by
Unknown Speaker 9:11
Brown Bear. Not a black bear because life hack brown lay down black attack for the bears. Yeah, so if there's a black bear, black bears are actually more chill. They're the chill bears so you can scream at them and be like, ah, go away. Black bears are black attack. Brown lay down because you're gonna die. Basically. Like curl up in the ball. Yeah, like cover your face. That's what you did. Yes. So that you don't lose any fingers and stuff like that? Because if you get mauled, aren't you supposed to act like you're dead or something? Yeah, so the brown lay down. Yeah, that's what he did in the movie, and he got thrashed by a bear in the movie. It was insane. And the seed white spoiler alert. Spoiler alert killed. No, he didn't but it almost did like it was it was really really intense. And then he had to trek through while he's like, you know, gauging
Unknown Speaker 10:00
rejected and injured sub is really good. Was it like current day or was it like old in those olden days? Yeah, but that movie was his first Oscar and so for me that was I'm number four award show moment because everyone's like, is Leo gonna finally win? Right and he did. Okay. Yeah. Now what about number three number four you know another one for you same under the same things I Halle Berry when she won from Monsters Ball I remember that actress or whatever. And it was a big deal. Yeah, you know, first African American woman and she's just so talented. And that's when she was really you know, she's still doing great now and she still looks beautiful and stuff like that. I actually saw that speech because I don't know I didn't know that and I was when I was doing my research for this I saw that speech and I watched it and it's really moving because she's she's just bawling her eyes out she's a significant Yeah, all the other actresses and you know how it how significant it is for the African American community and stuff like that, that she was representing. She was breaking the glass ceiling. Of course in to this day. She's still the only African American that has won Best Actress at the Oscars and Yeah, crazy scene and the John Wick movies. Now she's bad. Really? Yeah, it's always bad. So I'm really curious. She just cool. Anybody who hasn't seen John Wick movies has to see but you got to start John Wick one. After shameless. You need to watch John Wick. one through four. Okay, they're great deal. Each one is good. All right, my number three on my top award show moments we're getting into top three category for me the
Unknown Speaker 11:37
top three territory I mean,
Unknown Speaker 11:40
and this one just it was hot. It was unexpected. Oh, I know what you're gonna say. Madonna. Oh, no, Madonna and Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera kissing Madonna was I think in the middle and they do that performance together at the end. I think it was at the VMAs and then Madonna just turns to her right and kisses Britney Spears and you're like, Oh, my Lord. And then he left you know, go ahead and wait, wait and then turn left because his Christina Aguilera and you're just like, Oh my God, and the best part of the whole thing was in the camera pans. Just like he's looking like he's all turned on. Yes, I remember seeing that. Yeah, this was a perfect for combo of Madonna. Cuz he Britney Madonna kiss Christina. And then the cameras instantly turned to Justin Timberlake. And he's like, Oh, right. Exactly. Whoever the producer that was like Madonna. I mean, she pushes the envelope and it's like, nothing's off limits with her. And I mean, she is truly a pioneer. Yeah, you know, with with stuff. I just thought it was so like badass. And so like, sexy like, woman just like yeah, frickin do whatever you want. Like dma's Anything goes like, like, it was just good. Yeah, it was really cool. Yeah. And she she paved the way for like the Miley Cyrus's and who? Same thing. She wasn't she naked on the wrecking ball and stuff like that. Pretty much. Yeah. And then there's another video of her at some award shows Miley Cyrus where she's bending over. She's working on robbing bank. Yeah. And everyone's like, Oh, my God, twerking. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 13:16
Okay, all right. What's your number? Like if we're getting in a top three carat territory? What's like a number three ish for you or something? This is way before you are around this mark.
Unknown Speaker 13:27
Before I even thought of you. Yeah. Marlon Brando, one for Best Actor for The Godfather. But he didn't show up. And he refused the Oscar. But he said it was little feather and she was in a Native American Indian who spoke about the poor treatment of Native Americans. Oh my god, I got chills protest. Okay, wow, of how they were treating the Native Americans were treated. So that was kind of like at the time it was kind of like a political statement. That's cool. I didn't know that. I literally got chills when you said that he sent somebody Yes. And that's cool. Yeah. Wow. So he did right. Yeah, he won for the godfather. Did she make a speech or anything? Yeah, she did. What did she say? She just talked about Native American Rights and Right. Right, exactly. Cool. Yeah, that's a good move. Yeah. But that was kind of shocking at the time. Oh my gosh, but he could pull it off because he was such an A Lister and stuff like that. That it's like okay, it would be like Leo doing something like yeah, which Leo does do stuff like that. Like for environmental right? He's environment guy. Yeah, sure. Okay, my number two best award show moments in recent years is the key my wife's name
Unknown Speaker 14:39
Wow, that was bad. That was intense. Yeah, I remember watching that and being like, did Will Smith just slap Chris Rock I know really onstage and everyone thought is this a bit? What's happening? What I noticed that he will smith looks so arrogant when he got up and he marched up front to to slap Chris Rock
Unknown Speaker 15:00
He looked like he was on a man on a mission and he it just the arrogance, and there's no there's no excuse somebody should take him out and said, Hey, you gotta leave you got to, but instead he stayed there and he won like an award and stuff like that it was bizarre. It's like the audience acted like in the academy acted like nothing ever happened, you know, but Denzel Washington who's, you know, kind of like the overseer of are friends with certain people when talk to him. Yeah, you need to settle down and stuff like that. I don't I guess I mean, I was surprised that he got that upset about it, because I know that him and Jada. Before that point, were not meant to say Rocky, but they were just kind of independently doing their own making and making jokes and stuff like that about her. Yeah, these in her
Unknown Speaker 15:48
shop. Petia. Yeah, so, but I just didn't know that he had that side of him. Right. I didn't know he was that emotional about that. I was like, whoa, okay, but I mean, I guess I don't know if it shows the bond between him and Jada. Is it mean, hey, ride or die? You know what I mean? Apparently, they've been living separately. Yeah, that's what I'm saying. I knew that at the time. I know that they're rocky so surprised. I'm like, Really, but that kind of sucks because they portray this united front. But yet, you're not that united. So it's like, you know, just be real. Yeah. But it was it was surprising for me. And it was definitely a that was my number two award show moment, because it was so surprising. And we were all like, is that a bit what just happened? I don't understand. Chris Rock, turned it around. And he incorporated it in a stand up for the fact that, you know, a year and a half later or whatever, but he was a class act, because they asked him do you want to press charges? And he said, No, I don't want to Yeah, that's smart. Because it was Yeah, but what's the point? I mean, yeah, it was good. To make a point. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 16:51
What's your number two? Probably two, you probably more know more about this is Taylor Swift. And Kanye. The fact that he goes up there when she wins an award and just so you know, so arrogant and rude. It was what are your thoughts on that one? Well, I will jump in to say spoiler alert. That is my number one. Oh, that's my number one is the Taylor Swift. When Kanye went up there and said Beyonce should have won this award for whatever it was, I forgot the word. But Beyonce should have won. And I don't know what else he said. But it was it was rude. It was insane. It was crazy. At the time, I felt so bad for Taylor, because she was kind of just coming into her like superstar era. I mean, she was good. Of course, there's I'm sorry, Swifties. I'm sure she's been really really famous before that. But I'm not saying that. But I'm just saying like, for people who aren't diehard Taylor fans, she was kind of like really in the middle of her of her best times, right? Your superstar times. And for her to be robbed of that moment. Yeah. You don't steal somebody's shine. I mean, yeah, that was her moment. And he gets up there and kind of tries to hijack. It was very rare. It was really rare. And then they've showed the camera to Beyonce, because Kanye is talking about Beyonce. And then you're thinking is Why is Connie talking about Beyonce? What and what is Beyonce think it isn't a panda camera to Beyonce. And Beyonce is looking surprised to like, what the heck I didn't. Don't look at me. I didn't tell you this. So but then, and then I think the aftermath of that is Kanye made this whole song called famous? Do you know about that song? He made this song on his life of pablo album, which I think is really good. But the chorus of the song is I made that bitch famous. I made tell Taylor, we could still have makeup sex, I made that image, like here. And it was another whole controversial controversy, because that came out years after that VMA thing maybe like 10 years, or I don't know, a long time after that. After that stealing the award thing. But he made that song and everyone's like, Oh my God, because he claimed, oh, Taylor was nobody until that award show. And when I went up there and created that public stunt right there right now people remember Taylor's name more because I did that. And so that's what he was alluding to in the song. And then everyone's mad and it's not true. And you know, it drama, drama, drama, but it was it was a crazy moment. And I think it was one of the one of the craziest ones for me is that was my number one. Okay, yeah. On a lighter note, my last one is the streaker back in 1973. There was there was I didn't know that until I did the research. Yeah, there was really a streaker and the funny thing is David Niven Woods was a British actor and he was kind of like a prim and proper tech guy. So when this guy comes out, and he's naked, naked, not like John Cena naked. Yeah. But you know, that was a precursor to John Cena. But this guy actually was like running around. It was the 70s After the 60s, you know, love and peace and nakedness.
Unknown Speaker 19:48
Everyone's just hippies. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 19:52
But yeah, he was a streaker that came out and it was totally unexpected. And it was the guy was really naked. And he was
Unknown Speaker 20:00
Is he just like an extra? Do you know where he came from? I just know regular person I didn't go into. I'm sure he was trying to make a point or something, you know, but with John Cena John Cena look great. Talking about fit. Oh, I know that guy. Superman, no fat on that man's body. And when he Yeah, did that. So that was a good bit. Yeah, that was really good. We should talk about some Do you have any other honorable mentions or anything that you saw when you're researching? That's funny you say that because I was watching YouTube and they were showing like Jimmy Kimmel, and he's local from LA and stuff like that. But they have gear MO You know who gear Oh my god. Yeah, I
Unknown Speaker 20:36
started. I think he was a supervisor in the parking lot and Jimmy Kimmel liked them and they would joke around so he had him as a sidekick brought a man and the rest is history. But anyway, when they do the awards, he's a correspondent for The Jimmy Kimmel show. And all these celebrities are going by and now the bit is that they do shots. I tequila shots. Do you see that one? I did see the one with with with the Charlize Theron. He is obsessed. Kim was obsessed with Charlize Theron. He calls her his wife. So he calls her over and she comes over she goes, Hey, you got something for me to drink or something like that? And he goes, Yeah, and he takes out this Barbie and she looks at him like what the heck's going on with his Barbie? And they had hollowed out the Barbie.
Unknown Speaker 21:18
Um, screws the head of the Barbie doll. And inside there's like tequila. Uh huh. And she's like loving it. She's like, What? Yeah, it was so cool. Yeah, I did see a clip of that. And I that was my first time ever seen Guillermo with like another person but they all seem so comfortable with him. They're like, Oh, hey, caramel, you know and they come up and she's in she asked what do you have for me? And then he pulls out the shot and then the frickin Barbie head and she's laughing at the Barbie head unscrew yes shot like and then they she even like kisses him on the cheek. Goodbye. I'm like, Who is this man? Right the celebrity? Yeah, but become he it's it's like for his birthday. They showed a reel of all these celebrities, I guess when when Jimmy Kimmel would have guests like Robert Downey Jr. Saying, Hey, do you want to say a little clip to get him on his birthday next week. And they just had these this reel of like Chris Hemsworth and a different celebrities and hey, Guillermo, hope you have a good one and good birthday and stuff like that. I mean, the guy is now Beloved, you know? Amazing. Yes. Amazing. I love when like somebody is like a regular person and they just got another personality shines through. Right and they get you know, right place right time. And they just blow up into something like that. Like the skateboarding guy. Escape with the Ocean Spray. And spray. Yeah, you know what I mean? Like, Right Place Right Time. The Internet loved your personality and boom, you took off eight. Amazing, yes.
Unknown Speaker 22:40
Okay, so that was our top five award show moments. I learned a lot. I know. It's great. You should start watching more award shows. Yeah. Or at least get the highlights. Yeah. The next day highlights. That's fine. Right, right. Okay, our next segment for this episode of me, my mom and the internet is this random topic that we all have? Our topics are pretty random, we just say because we're kind of random. Right? What do you want to talk about? And then we'll just pull the most random subject out of our brains. So this one is guys wearing makeup? Yeah, yeah. And I'm boring. I'm for of course, like, you'll know.
Unknown Speaker 23:17
Like, let's just add more beautiful people to the world. That's totally fine. So when I think of guys wearing makeup, I think of some like influencers on Tik Tok people who, you know, have risen to a level of celebrity and influence through makeup and stuff. And then I think of like, people like Ron Paul, and I think of drag.
Unknown Speaker 23:40
Paul, and even like, Great, yeah. What do you think of San Diego or she lived in San Diego really? Well? Yeah, that's cool. Yeah, that's cool. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, totally. What did you think about when you think of guys wearing makeup? I like it. I think stars right? Yeah. It to me, it signifies a man who's or a person who's confident. They want to do their own thing. They're confident and if you don't like it, you know what, that's your problem. Yeah, yeah. But when looking at getting on the internet, but all knowing internet, okay, I learned that there's a long history of makeup that it goes back to like 4000 BC, where the Egyptians, the judge
Unknown Speaker 24:21
would put on makeup and eyeliner, and it was a, it showed status. That's cool. And that, that you were like an elite in the Egyptian then they would also grind up minerals and place it on their faces and also like Native Americans when they will get their celebrations or you know,
Unknown Speaker 24:42
I don't know if it's politically correct to say War pain or whatever. But it's that they would get put stuff on their face, you know? Yeah, that's true. That's really cool. And that makes complete sense. Because when I see you know, in the history books or something or you know, pictures or illustrations I should say of like, you
Unknown Speaker 25:00
indigenous people, Egyptians, all that stuff they do have like face paint on. They do have stuff around their eyes. And I mean, it looks cool. Even it looks really bad.
Unknown Speaker 25:11
I'm like, wait a second where people should do that. Exactly, exactly. And then they even said that our forefathers in America they wore wigs. They wore foundation they wore rouged you know, back in the days where they would wear those like curly wigs and stuff like that, you know, they were a little high maintenance like there. Yeah. Yeah, Sidney was telling me she saw a tick tock of someone given a hot take that guy should wear heels because she basically said the same history as us that back in the day the our founding fathers slay. They were wearing heels and stuff like that. Did you watch Kinky Boots? No, you haven't no movie Kinky Boots. Oh, everyone needs to watch the movie Kinky Boots. It's so good. It's about. It's about this guy who inherits his company from his father whose father was a shoemaker. Don't give me any spoilers. Okay, then I'll shut up right now.
Unknown Speaker 26:02
It's so good. Okay, it's really good. Um, but yeah, I mean, I think of guys wearing makeup as something that shouldn't be normal, chill, do whatever you want to do. People in the past have done it. Indigenous people. Founding Fathers, like, come on. Even I saw that. The Chinese would wear like lip balm. And sometimes if they didn't have enough lip balm, they would wear like a colored lipstick type thing. That's cool. So it's like, you know, yeah, I mean, we had like, Little Richard was an entertainer who would wear lots of be very fun. flamboyant and wear makeup and that back in the Yeah, in the 50s or 60s or whenever and all the rock stars. Yeah, Bowie with yo yo stardust. Boy George in the 80s culture club. Do you know boy, George, I don't know. Oh my god. Okay. This is why you're? Yeah. I was big in the 80s. I love even to this day. I like 80s music. It's so good. Yeah, I like his music too. Yeah. And do you know who Freddie Mercury is? Yeah, I know. And then Johnny Depp with his Oh yeah. Johnny Depp. Yeah, it's very, you know, he wear scarves and yeah, cool jewelry. And I mean, I can pull it off. Yeah, not everybody can pull it off. But he can but he's got the eyeliner Keith Richards, which he was Johnny Depp. I saw him in an interview and he said that he actually
Unknown Speaker 27:27
channeled Keith Richards in the Pirates of the Caribbean. Oh, cool. You know, his
Unknown Speaker 27:34
the role that he does, and then there's Do you know the curious Yes, okay. Yeah, the lead singer, is Robert Smith. He was a lot of like, dark. I think I've seen
Unknown Speaker 27:44
that. He looks kind of like a kind of zombie. Like that. Yeah, I like when the rock stars wear it. Because I don't know. It just fits the vibe. I just think like, yeah, you do whatever you want. Or whatever in your face. Wear whatever clothes you want. What rock stars are also wearing? Like crop tops and tight leather pants. I'm like, get it? Yeah, that's right, exactly. Right, whatever. And then for me like to when I think of guys wearing makeup, do you know that the first cover girl there was a guy on Cover Girl? And it was like the first male cover girl on the cover? Was it like a transgender? No, it was James Charles, which was the first male to wear makeup and be on the on the front page of the cover girl. But it was a huge thing. And it's kind of interesting slash sad at this point because James Charles was a, like a teenager, young adult rising on Tik Tok and Instagram and, you know, all these places, and he did those beauty tutorials and makeup tutorials and all that. And he started when he was really young. And that's where he got famous because that's what how he got uncovered grows because he started doing these influencing tutorials, beauty tutorials, but now, people he's turned into so many memes, unfortunately, unfortunately, like he has certain things that he's said. And he's just, he's just a guy who unfortunately his entire life is documented on the internet. So of course, there's some cons to that or like, he's like kind of cringy in some ways, but if you put all that to the side, he did pave the way for beauty tutorials for men like he did these really really nice makeup tutorials. Almost like drag but not not full drag. But you know how like, sometimes the guys will do super heavy makeup and it looks so good. And it's like for a perfect night out or like with this certain outfit that's blue and like all that stuff. So he did that he did a really really, really good job. He got really famous for it. He started with all the you know, palettes he created his own makeup line, all that stuff like that, but he was someone that's he's younger than me that is in that beauty world, you know, and then it reminds me of, of RuPaul you know, and RuPaul I when I was doing research for him to he signed back like I don't know, is it 90s or 2000s with MAC cosmetics, but I just was thinking when I
Unknown Speaker 30:00
I read that that he got on with MAC Cosmetics after his because you know he did this he was like an artist like a musical artists and stuff like that with his superstar or something or was it runway song or something like that. But he he started his own beauty line and worked with MAC cosmetics but it made me think props to MAC cosmetics, like some of these makeup lines that are like Yes. Give me the dude. Like I'm like props to you for thinking when we fall was in drag. It's like in very statuesque, very tall. Beautiful. I know. I know. Gorgeous. I know these and opened the door for a lot of people. Yeah. And there's
Unknown Speaker 30:40
like, even like Jeffree Star who's trans maybe? Sorry, I'm not sure. But Jeffrey star was big on MySpace. So when I was like growing up on MySpace for a minute, Jack is still around. No, definitely not.
Unknown Speaker 30:53
Yeah, but he was in then. But all these guys started with these. Sometimes some of them started in entertainment. Then they transition to like makeup. And then they signed with makeup companies. And then they created their own makeup line. So Jeffree Star has his own makeup line. RuPaul has his own makeup line. I'm pretty sure maybe not but I don't know. But it's just it's great. I'm like, Yeah, cool. While you know, I was watching the Kimmel show. And they had they had the rock on and the rock now has a line of facial skincare skincare line. Yeah. And he was talking. He was speaking about how men tend to just wash your face with soap and water and not do you know, not give a lot of care to their their face. And so he's got a new skincare line that is being sold at Target. And he says most things are like 10 bucks or less. Yeah, because he wants people to have access to and be able to afford it, you know. And then do you know who? Carson Kressley? Yes, yes, he's great. Yeah, he was. No tan. Yeah, he was. No, you mean? He was the original tan? Yeah. The fashion guy was the first I remember. Yeah, the Blondie young blond hair, but he was saying he he uses foundation now to smooth out his skin because as you get older you want our fear on camera and stuff like that you want so he says you know when he goes somewhere he puts makeup on for like a foundational thing to look smoother, cleaner look healthier look for him. Yeah, you know, right to basically to enhance your your look. Yeah, basically, if you're a guy listening to this podcast, get on it. Smooth your face out. Take care of your skin. Watch. quiera Yeah. That's the moral of the story. Right. So what you're really random.
Unknown Speaker 32:38
We are very random. And this next Oh my god. This next segment is the pros and cons of Florida. Right? Yeah. And when I started off, it was almost like similar. Like, they've got great beaches. And I'm like, well, we've got great beaches. Yeah, the weather's good. You know sometimes and I'm like, Well, we're weather's good sometimes. Yeah, it was like kind of like a little similar but then it went off the rails.
Unknown Speaker 33:06
That's typical Florida for you. I started we can just go back and forth with some pros and cons. Look, I say a disclaimer. I've never been to Florida. Oh, and I want to go I know okay, where would you want to go in your first Florida Tripoli, Miami, Orlando. You know, Orlando, or Disney World is Yeah, but Well, yeah, just say Disney World. Don't say Orlando. I can say
Unknown Speaker 33:34
okay, Disney. Well, we're going to Miami Okay, me and you. Me? Me? Me Mama. Yes, Dolly Mr. Three.
Unknown Speaker 33:44
Okay, so we got to go to Miami actually soon. Anyway, okay. So Florida. I've been okay. And also for me. I've been to Florida and in Miami. I've been to Fort Lauderdale. I've been to Tampa. I've been to a few places just for work. Mostly. Yeah, my friends. Shout out Chad and Rosie live in and on a shout out live in Tampa. Okay. Okay, so for me a pro Florida is that is really close to Cuba and the Dominican Republic. Yeah, that part's cool in there too. And I have been to the Dominican Republic and I just think it's cool because you have all these like island vibe. You know, countries and stuff like that that you can access from the East Coast. That's kind of cool. I don't know I liked the Dominican Republic a lot and I have not been to Cuba but I've heard good things about it. Definitely. I would like to go before it gets it made it a point to where it or it becomes too modern. Oh true. Almost like the fact that it's still kind of dated. Yeah, you know, it adds to the flair the historical value of Cuba and that Yeah, so it's not really
Unknown Speaker 34:48
but I just liked that. It's close. It was kind of nice. Yes. Okay. You hit me with a pro or con. Okay, a pro is Disney World. I've been to Disneyland I have literally been to Disneyland like fifth
Unknown Speaker 35:00
plus times you know in but disney world I have never been me neither and it's supposed to be beautiful at Christmas time was supposed to be really pretty. So I would like to go there and be there like for a few days so like just take it in and just see how pretty it is and that but that's something on my to do list that I'd like to do. Yeah, you can go there too. We can have a Florida tour. That would be good.
Unknown Speaker 35:26
Mom and Elisa take Florida. to Miami. We go to Disney World. Yeah. And then Cuban food. Yeah. Oh, yeah. It's like it's all about the food. When I when I travel. I like to eat it up, you know, so that there's a street in Miami and it's called. Actually, I forgot. What's your I know you know what I'm talking about. It's like Spanish inspired cuisine all on this one street and Sydney and I went there once for one night for one dinner at one time was it was great. We got to Bahia there and we it was it was great. It was good time. But it was poppin it was definitely like a really cool street in Miami. Right now Miami, I guess is in the news. They're talking about how they're cracking down on spring break. Because it's getting too, too. Yeah, that people it's like I'm breaking up with you spring break. Yeah. As people aren't getting too rowdy. Yeah, it's becoming too crime ridden. It's like, you know, once again, you've got a few people that are screwing it up for the rest of the
Unknown Speaker 36:23
What's New, right? It's true. Yeah, true. Let me hit you with a con of Florida. Speaking of like, spring break, and all that stuff is that it gets really, really, really, really hot in the summer. Yeah. And we were just in Tampa for work. And we were talking to our friends Chad and Rosie about, we would walk along and we'd be like, Oh, that restaurant looks so cute. But it's so fun in the summer, because in San Diego, you're thinking, you know, garage door style windows up. Oh my god. And then every time we said that, they would say, well, summer is actually pretty miserable. So it has to be in like October or September or something like that. And I was like, Oh, weird, but like it just gets so hot and humid. Yeah. And then I saw that their bugs. I don't know what kind of bugs but try to find out. Yeah, I don't I don't do bugs. i The first time I ever went to Florida was for work when it was like when maybe, I don't know, five years ago or something like that. And it was my first time being in the humidity. I've never been to Florida nerving and such humidity like that. Never been in the south. And it was intense. Like an experience. You walk out the door and you're like, that's the worst when it's a sticky. Yeah. And like I had a camera. And so that's another layer of like, Oh, my camera fogs up. So how do you take pictures and photos? videos, you know? So it was it was an experience? It was really hot? Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 37:39
For me, a pro of Florida is that it is the Sunshine State no matter how hot it does get because I can really respect sunshine all the time. That'd be my preference like San Diego gets a little cloudy. Yeah, and I'm not a fan of that. Florida. Sunny 250 60 days of the year. That sounds awesome. I'm into that part. Yeah, but they do have like hurricanes. Yeah, that part's not fun. No, no. You know, at least with earthquakes in California. It just happens. It just happens. But when the hurricane you know, it's coming. Yeah. And that, to me is worse. It's scarier. Because you're like, oh, shoot, it's, it's on our way. People are boarding beds. You know, it's intense. It is intense. That's scary. Yeah. What's a what's a con for con for you? It would be con. Okay. On the hurricane front thing. It said that car insurance and home insurance is like through the roof. Oh, yeah. So maybe you don't pay as many taxes in Florida. But you make it up in insurance. Yeah, that's that was a pro of there's no income tax. But you're right. What's the what's the point if there's no income tax that, but you're paying so much for insurance? Exactly. Yeah, it's getting higher and higher because of all these hurricanes. And they keep happening at least once or twice. Hashtag climate change. I know. Right? And alligators.
Unknown Speaker 39:02
I don't want to be walking the dog and have to worry about an alligator. It's true. And those things can move. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 39:10
Yeah, that's stories. Don't walk your dog near like a lake or whatever. Because there's too many golf courses have alligators Do you think? Yeah. Oh, I didn't know. Because there's ponds and said, Well, I'm not going to be near a golf course. I'm good. That's true. Right.
Unknown Speaker 39:25
You know what? Okay, this is horrible. And I'm sorry for that. But I thought about crime and sex offenders. And I'm like, I wonder how the crime is. I looked it up and actually, as far as sex offenders go, Florida wasn't even on the top list because I thought, Oh, they've got crazy people in Florida judging them. I was judgy Sorry, sorry, Florida. Okay. You know who has the most it says, Arkansas. Oh, Oregon. Oh, and Alaska. Oh, yes. Well, Alaska has a lot of Yeah, okay.
Unknown Speaker 39:57
We can talk about Alaska. Episode. I don't want
Unknown Speaker 40:00
I don't want to offend anybody. Okay. But anyway, do you know what state has the least sex offenders? What would you guess? would you guess? Least sex offenders? For the internet? Yeah. I don't know. Something random like Montana, Hawaii. Oh, Hawaii. That makes sense. Makes sense to chill. Yeah, they're really nice. They're fine. Yeah, I'm busy. I got, you know, things to do. Right.
Unknown Speaker 40:26
Cool. Well, I think that the obvious, I mean, we don't even need to touch on some of the
Unknown Speaker 40:33
the top cons of Florida is just all the politics of Florida and the stupid people that are in charge. But that's good laws. I mean,
Unknown Speaker 40:43
back in the day, there was a Anita Bryant and she was this activist that was conservative activists that was anti gay. And she something somehow she got connected with the Florida orange juice. Oh, she used to do commercials for Florida orange juice. This was back like in the 70s I believe, like late 70s and stuff like that. So people actually started because she was so anti gay community. Yeah, that people stopped buying Florida. We're gonna ask Yeah, people were like, you can't she was spewing hate is what she was doing sucks. Yeah. So boo on I need a brand. Yeah. And I think she's very dead by now.
Unknown Speaker 41:18
Well, you know, she's in the Lord's hands.
Unknown Speaker 41:22
Bless her heart. Yeah.
Unknown Speaker 41:25
Well, yeah, those are the obvious cons. I mean, that's all I got, because I mostly was looking at the pros of stuff. And then the cons are just the obvious con.
Unknown Speaker 41:33
I remember when OJ Simpson was going through this stuff, he went to go live in Florida. Really, it says Because among the states, Florida has some of the most broadly worded protections available to debtors, wishing to shelter their assets from creditor attachments. So with these protections, Simpson and others, like him, facing the pressure from creditors often moved to Florida to ensure their assets are judgment proof. Wow, he owes the Brown family $96 million. Oh, judgment because they sued him and they won the civil case that he killed her son and Nicole Simpson. Yeah. But he wanted to protect he ended up OJ ended up selling his Heisman trophy. Wow, I didn't know that. Yeah. Oh, my God, because he owes a lot of money. Totally. Yeah, but he has, but he fled to Florida because they have a lot of protections there. Wow. Yeah. That's good to know.
Unknown Speaker 42:27
That's good to know. Yeah. Just in case mom. I know. Right? Don't I call it
Unknown Speaker 42:33
I told the Lisa one time that if we ever robbed a bank, I know where to go or no one would ever been. I'm not gonna say I'm not gonna say just in case we know. We know.
Unknown Speaker 42:43
We know where to go. Let me tell you it's not Florida. No, South Florida. It's not Florida. Okay. Nuff said.
Unknown Speaker 42:51
All right. You want to move on to the next segment? Sure. What's
Unknown Speaker 42:56
up? Well, we've talked about a lot of things today our award shows very important things award shows guys wearing makeup flows. Yes. And I can't wait to go to Florida. I want to go I want to check it out. I'm sure you know, yeah. No hate on Florida. No. Hey, no hate on Florida. We love all states, right? Yeah. Okay.
Unknown Speaker 43:19
I don't know about that one. Okay. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Okay. Um, but that was our randomness for today's episode. And again, you can find these episodes on Apple podcast on Spotify podcast on YouTube. It's on Amazon worldwide.
Unknown Speaker 43:36
