The Many Faces of Cancer

Sharing Your Story to Help Others with Claudia Perez-Favela

Melissa Grosboll Episode 56

Today's guest is Claudia Perez-Favela, a proud wife and mother of three, a first generation non-traditional college student studying criminal justice, and a cervical cancer survivor.

Living in a rural community in California, when she was diagnosed, she was sure she was going to die, especially after losing her mother to ovarian cancer 5 years earlier. She was misinformed about the nature of her diagnosis, and given very little information or support to help her navigate her care.

From her experience, she learned how to share her story effectively and advocate and support others who may be facing the same challenges. She volunteers for several organizations in her area and loves being a patient advocate.
