Your Ability to GO

Last week, we talked about your ability to wait.
This week, we’re talking about your ability to go.
Because at some point, the waiting season ends, and God calls you to move.
But what happens when He says go… and you hesitate?
When fear creeps in, excuses get louder, and obedience feels uncomfortable?
In this episode, we unpack the tension between knowing and doing. The delays, the self-doubt, and the quiet resistance that can keep us stuck even after God has spoken.
Hi, and welcome back to yet another episode. This is The Bloomers Journal, and I'm your host, Nondu Khakabi. Last week we explored the waiting season. Growing in the waiting, keeping your faith, holding on to a promise, and becoming in the process. There are times that call us to wait, and there are also times that call us to go. Some of us are not waiting. We're delaying, we're playing small, we're procrastinating, we're playing games on ourselves, on God, and ultimately our destinies. Hmm. Let's talk about it. God gives us instructions. He gives us things to do with our time, our hands, our resources, with our gifts and our talents. We are the ones who doubt, who second guess, who overthink. We spoke about overthinking in one of the previous episodes, um, where we just discussed this ability that we have to turn things this way and that way, to deliberate with ourselves, deliberating with God, weighing the pros, weighing the cons, weighing the possibilities. In James 1, verse 5, it reads, If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea blown and tossed by the wind. That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all that they do. So why do we spend so much time in the place of doubt? Most times we are certain, but the fear is what turns it into uncertainty. Whether it's a career decision, a business move, letting go of a relationship, pursuing a relationship, whether it's cutting off, clinging on, you're starting something, you're wanting to launch a project. We have a tendency of front loading the fear and not front loading on faith. We need to make it a practice so that it can become a habit and a muscle that's being built. And how can we do that? The first step could be writing it down. All the things that you need to make decisions on. What has God said? And the second piece being, what do you plan on doing with that information? Let's get into the question of what God said. I feel that sometimes we over-spiritualize things in the sense that we're waiting for some magical like fantasy way that God is going to come and speak to us. We're waiting for someone to share a prophetic word. We are waiting for an experience that is going to knock our socks off our feet. And yes, everything is spiritual, but the Holy Spirit is without bounds and is using different ways to speak to us. One of the ways that are greatly underestimated is the Bible. The Bible is so vast. The Bible is so vast, it is the main way that God speaks to his people. As an example, the Bible says for us to teach the word, to bring many sons into glory. The Bible says for us to share his word. I don't need to wait for God to whisper that to me in a dream to do it. He's already commanded for us to do that in his word. There are many opportunities that we have to do just that, whether it's at work, whether it's on your way to work, whether it's in your different societies, whether it's in the place that you live, whether it's a platform like the Bloomers Journal, we've got many opportunities where we can do this. His word has spoken it, and it is that simple. Secondly, God can give you that experience that is so supernatural and mind-blowing. He can speak to you personally, God can give you ideas, he gives you the creativity, God can plant certain things in your heart. I think one of the mistakes that we make is thinking that the ideas are our own. When you start to think of it as a divine download, literally from the Lord, thinking that this thing that you're thinking, this thing that is laid in your heart, that is laid in your mind, is something that God has given you, is something that God has chosen to give to you. I think maybe we would steward these things a little bit differently. I think maybe we would have a sense of urgency um around some of these things. There are many different ways, shapes, and forms that he can communicate with you. My stance on this, if you think God said it, go with it. God is gonna work it out. I'm reminded of a time when I had quit my job three years ago. I was young, working a stressful job, and I just couldn't handle the pressure. I had an out and I took it. One of the biggest mistakes I made in my 20s. But at the time I remember even at my farewell, just telling people how much I was trusting God, I truly thought that we were aligned, him and I, and I paid for that mistake. But God He He doesn't leave you. He doesn't leave you nor forsake you, even when you are the one who's made the mess. I've since returned to that very same company, and you know the laws of restoration. He doesn't give back what you had, he gives you that and more, more than you bargained for, more than you imagine. So don't be so stuck on fear. Get past that and move. Make a decision and go. Many of us are afraid of failure and embarrassment, but those feelings are okay. They're never the end. Discern as best as you can and go. That's why we need faith. No one ever truly knows. We have to exercise trusting something that we're hoping for, something that we can't fully see. There's something that my pastor spoke to recently that I absolutely love. If you have a look at the book of Matthew, verse the book of Matthew, chapter 14, verse 25. This is the story of Jesus on the boat with his disciples, and it reads Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them walking on the lake, that is the water. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. It's a ghost, they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them, Take courage, it is I, don't be afraid. Lord, if it's you, Peter replied, tell me to come to you on the water. Come, he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water, and came towards Jesus. Sometimes we need to take the initiative. Jesus doesn't command Peter to come to him. Jesus doesn't ask Peter to walk on the water. Peter is the one who has the faith and the courage to suggest it. It's very important to remember that the Holy Spirit is at work within you. So don't downplay the things that are laid on your heart and in your mind. Be a person of action. Don't waste or play with what God has given you. And stop thinking that you have all the time because you don't. Time is very much of the essence. Treat these things with an absolute urgency. The Bible tells us that whoever watches the wind will not plant, and whoever looks at the clouds will not reap. So you need to decide, you need to move, you need to go, to act, to meet God halfway. And I mean that in the sense that you are partnering with him. Everything we bring is from him, everything we can give is from him. So just make the decision to partner with him. I want to share a quick prayer as we close. May God give you clarity of vision, the divine downloads, the ideas and strategy to go to execute. May He give you strength, may He give you wisdom, may He give you discernment. Where He hasn't given you a full picture, I pray that you find peace in knowing in part. May you grow in your faith for the next and may you remember his words that he is with you always. Thank you for listening in to this episode. We'll catch you again next week.
