Speaker 1:

all right, all right. Welcome back to another early morning edition of the same man sports talk show, bringing you our latest segment titled flag on the play and over here, everything's opinionated segment. Titled flag on the play and over here, everything's opinionated. We just gather up topics, get together, discuss, break it down, don't write a wrong answer. All right, all right, all right. So, like we do before each and every episode, I would like to reach out there and say that I hope that everyone is blessed, um, pursuing blessings, staying focused on something positive, constructive, not destructive, right, excuse me, enjoying the sporting atmosphere out here. We know it's playoff NBA basketball, as we've been speaking about. The draft just went past. Bunch of exciting things going on, moves being made in the NFL, the free agency as well. Bunch to dive into. As far as NBA players, where do they go next? But, but, but, but. First, this is breaking news to me and this is something that must be discussed. I will have to bring this up because I feel like this is a topic that everyone should be talking about, right? Okay, so there's a magnificent woman out of formerly out of the University of Jackson State. We know the attention primetime Deion Sanders brought to Jackson State. So I'm going to clap, double clap real quick For Miss Tamika Reed, right Women's basketball coach. Jackson State tenure Couldn't have been anything shy of amazing, right. Let me just read off a few things for you all. In six seasons, as the head coach, she led Jackson State. Read off a few things for you all um, in six seasons as the head coach, um, she led jackson state to the top of the conference. They had six appearances six consecutive births to the conference, uh tournament semi-finals, um, three straight births in the conference tournament finals, five consecutive swag regular season titles, three two-straight SWAC tournament titles and NCAA appearances, and making the program's second straight appearance in the NCAA tournament. I apologize as a 14th seed. Jackson State led in the fourth quarter, nearly achieving the most historic tournament win ever, at this time over number three LSU. They made his return again fell in 2024 to number three. See you come. We know what they did.

Speaker 1:

Okay, salute to her man, give her all the flowers plus more. And I say this for a few reasons, because we've seen the impact that Deion Sanders left on Jackson State or while he was there, what he did. And then obviously you know. So on and so on. But let's go over to the women's side and embrace this, because this story is amazing. Okay, 23 wins tied a school record. 23 wins tied a school record. 18 and 0 record swag plays are passing the team's best season, with 16 of those wins coming in 2020. Jsu won 21 consecutive games in 2022. This is big man.

Speaker 1:

Um had them ranked number one in all categories, many categories. In the NCAA, she was the SWAC coach of the year. A lot of people, including Don Staley, have said positive and great things about her. A 78 and 37 record, 678 percentage on the win side in four seasons, 60 and nine in SWAC play. Let's give her her flowers, man. Right, this is amazing, I don't. You know. There's a few women coaches that we give flowers to.

Speaker 1:

Let me break this in for y'all real quick. She did what Deion did, but she's a woman. So she just got picked up, went to Charlotte right, took her whole staff, whole staff, whole staff. That's big. That's big to me because you start out, you stay loyal, you build, you bring with you all conquer together. That's special to me, man. You know, I just wanted to really give her special flowers, man, because I don't think it's talked about enough. Now she's in the Charlotte program. They are blessed to have a coach, a black woman that is driven and successful as she is. That is a wonderful leader of young women, right, this is big for them. Um, jackson state lost a special one. Um, I think she's very excited. Um, like I said, she brought her staff. Um, I think that she's going to be in a tear of dawn soon. We've seen them have conversations, just showing each other love. But the closer you get in the higher divisions, you start to be able to build certain relationships that may be able to change a few things that weren't able to be changed while you were in that small pool with Jackson State. She did a hell of a job, hell of a run. I just wanted to really stand out and we all should be having conversations.

Speaker 1:

Tamika Reed, tamika Reed, if you hear this, please receive these flowers. Special to you, special shout out you are a blessing. I pray your tenure at Charlotte goes as well, if not even better, than it did at Jackson State. Salute to you, salute to the women's game on the rise, more noise being made. This is big. This is big. This is big. More growth, more inspiration, more motivation. What she's achieving, what Dawn Staley's achieving, these other women coaches. Just imagine what it's doing to the mind of of the up-and-coming coaches or players in general, in the women and just people involved in the women's game in general. I can't call myself involved. I'm a fan of it, but I'm willing to do work and research to become a part of it because it's special, right, um. So salute to you, tamika reed. Salute to you, charlotte um jackson state. Salute to you as wellameka Reed. Salute to you, charlotte Jackson State. Salute to you as well. We will see where they go moving forward. I am going to be on the lookout for Charlotte to see what type of noise they make. Fresh start new program. She did her damn thing over there At the bottom. Let's see what she can do closer towards the top.

Speaker 1:

All right, big news, big news. Big news. We seen yesterday NBA. We seen the Knicks close out Philly for two. Great job, jalen Brunson, and be feel sorry for you, maxi. Feel sorry for you. They wrapped it up, did what I really expected them to do. I was going for Philly, but I thought New York should handle them. Now New York is to worry about Boston. You know, we'll see how it goes.

Speaker 1:

Jalen Brunson balled out again another 40-point performance. We also seen the Pacers close out the Bucs no Giannis the whole series. That was disturbing. Game time no game time, they need Giannis. They went down 4-2 to the Pacers. I was dissing the Pacers like man, I ain't going to no Pacers games. It's boring. Da da da. These boys in the second round, they for real, they play collectively. They might not have the star, I like, I like Tyler, but they may not have the Dame Lillard or whoever the Giannis, but they play great team basketball. We'll definitely get up there in the second round to check them out. Until next time from the Satan man Sports Talk Show. Y'all stay safe, stay alert, stay dangerous, stay aware. Quit sleeping Over here. Flag on the play. Y'all stay safe out there. We'll see you next time.
