The Bamboo Principle Hook

SPEAKER_00

Have you ever heard of the bamboo principle? What if I told you that there's a tree that doesn't go for five years, even if you water it every day. Five years, no visible sign of results, and then finally it breaks the soil and explodes 90 feet in five weeks. Most people would quit after six months, and that's why they never go to their full potential. Let me show you why patience is one of the most underrated skills in successful living. Greetings and welcome back to another magnificent episode of the Renaissance Files Podcast where we aspire to inspire until we expire. This podcast is centered around empowerment and self-actualizing the best version of yourself. Because at the end of the day, we're all here to collect memories and you only get one life, so you might as well chase the dream and swing for the fences. Just consider me to be a modern descendant of Harriet Tubman through one man at a time. If personal development and creating the best version of yourself is something that you're interested in, then definitely like and subscribe and join the Renaissance family. Thank you for tuning in for part one of the delayed gratification mini series. I'm your host Judas X and today I'll be talking about what I'm calling the Bamboo Principle. Two characteristics of the Bamboo Principle is delayed gratification and intentional action, also known as patience and intentionality. The combination of delayed gratification and intentional action is the success formula to get you to the promised land regardless of where your destination is. Delayed gratification is the ability to resist immediate reward in order to receive a larger, more meaningful reward later on. Basically, it's sacrificing short-term reward for long-term benefits like exercising consistently now so you can enjoy good health later on in life. While intentional action is doing something on purpose, guided by a clear objective as opposed to operating off emotion, impulse, or habit. It's much easier to have purposeful steps when you know exactly where you're going. So you always have to be able to articulate why you're doing what you're doing. The how is far less important than the why. Because when your way is clear, your actions are purposeful and intentional, and with a powerful way, you can overcome anyhow. The reason intentionality is so instrumental for successful outcomes in your life is because resources are finite. We only have a limited amount of time and energy in a day, and there's only 24 hours in one day. Also, remember we're living on borrowed time, so every time the sun sets, it's one less day that you have to enjoy this magnificent thing that we call life. And I think to myself. But while you're executing these intentional actions, it's far more important to demonstrate patience. Lack of patience is one of the number one reasons that most people don't reap the fruits of their labor because they give up before the fruits are ripe. One thing to remember it never happens when you want it to happen, it always happens when it's supposed to happen. They say it takes 20 years to become an overnight success, but they always only show you the finished product. So the expectation in the microwave age is that everything is supposed to be instantaneous like Amazon delivery. Have you ever heard of the Chinese bamboo tree? It's an exceptional illustration of the mindset and perspective that you should have when you're pursuing your goals because it demonstrates the powerful combination of intentional actions, patience, and consistent effort. The Chinese bamboo tree is native to China and East Asia and is widely found in southern and central China. The Chinese bamboo tree takes five years to go and the ground where the seed is planted has to be watered every day without fail in order for the growth to happen. For five years it won't break the soil. There's absolutely no visible signs that growth is happening. Because in the first few years it has to develop a deep root system and build structural strength in preparation to support the massive vertical growth. Because if it were to shoot up without developing the roots, it's bound to collapse. And the difference between good and great is the perseverance to continue when it looks like nothing is happening. But to be fair, could you imagine having that conversation with your neighbor about the seed that you planted two years ago and you can't even see the stem? They definitely say that you're delusional. But that's why they say you shouldn't tell people your dreams, because if they don't know your dreams, then they can't shoot them down. So if you've been diligent in watering the seed, after five years it finally breaks the soil, and when it breaks the soil it goes 90 feet in five weeks. It's like no building the act before the flood because he had a vision. Everybody thought he was crazy until it started raining. That's why it's imperative for you to study course and ignore the outside noise. The underlying tone of the Chinese bamboo tree is that consistent positive actions towards your goals create the momentum that you need to manifest results beyond your wildest imagination. Said differently, intentional actions foster better execution which leads to more fruitful results over time. It's the snowball effect. In science and system theories, the snowball effect refers to a positive feedback process where the initial small change increases in magnitude through self-reinforcing cycles, which leads to exponential growth. Greetings and welcome to the Judas Jews Corner. I'm your guide throughout the episode, Judas Hendrix, and I'm here to provide you with all the relevant information that you need to stay abreast with what's happening in the episode and not get lost in the sauce. Doctor Who is out there trying out scientific terms like he got a PhD and he barely got a bachelor's. The snowball effect simply means small consistent actions over a long enough period of time create massive returns. Once you get going downhill, it's much easier and faster for you to pick up momentum and get to your goals faster. You see how simple that was? Sharp, sweet and to the point. But don't worry, that's why I here to make sure that you're good. Now back to the episode. In physics, it's understood that a snowball rolling downhill increases in mass, which increases the gravitational force, which increases velocity, which increases the overall accumulation. Essentially, you just accumulate more experience and insight, so your output increases, creating a larger impact as you move forward. But it's impossible to create that momentum without consistent motion. But the snowball effect also works in the opposite direction as well and has a negative impact. For example, you start with complacency, which leads to procrastination, which leads to stress and anxiety, which ultimately leads to avoidance. Complacency ultimately leads to a vicious cycle of inaction because everything is compounding. So once you get trapped, it's hard to get out. So you want to ensure that your momentum is heading in the right direction. Five years of consistent action gets you 90 feet of manifestation in five weeks. I would say that's even on fair exchange. The million dollar question is do you have the patience? You always get back more than what you saw because you started with a seed and ended up with a 90 feet tree. So practice sowing good seeds. Sowing the right seed can produce the tree that will change your life for the rest of your life. That's why it's important for your goals to be very audacious because you possess the ability to determine whether you want a garden or a forest. Greetings and welcome back to the Judas Jews Connor. It's the one and only Judas Hendrix. According to management, I got to close out the episodes in order to pull my weight. So, you know, here we are. New year, same compensation, crazy work, absolutely crazy work, but we gotta do what we gotta do. So, just to quickly recap the combination of delay gratification and intentional action is the success formula to get you to the promised land regardless of where your destination is. The Chinese bamboo tree is a metaphor for the journey to your goals. Even though you might not see instantaneous returns, bear in mind that sometimes you need to go down in order to go up because the roots need time to develop. So take the time to create a solid foundation to ensure your longevity. We're living on borrowed time, so you might as well do something work well with the time that you have and not work well by anyone else's standards but you. You get one shot in life, so why not make it an extravagant one? The only limitations that you have is the ones you choose to believe. Your five years can start today, so don't hesitate any longer. Time is too precious for that. If you found anything useful in this episode, definitely like, subscribe, share, tell your friends, tell your mother, tell your father, tell your auntie, tell your brother, tell everybody so they could tap in and become a part of the Renaissance family. Remember, you're only one change away from changing your life for the rest of your life. I'll see you on part two to the delayed gratification mini series. But until next time, man, just continue elevating out of here!
