SPEAKER_00

Welcome to the Mr. Gordo podcast with your hosts Britt and Sarah. This is currently a buffy to Vampire Square.

SPEAKER_02

We watching Hawkins.

SPEAKER_00

We will rewatch each episode and give our thoughts and opinions on this night and fall five. I'm Britt and I'm Sarah. And we are here with another episode.

SPEAKER_02

Um checkpoint.

unknown

Woo! Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I like this episode. I mean, I don't like the watchers, but yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Uh we're also here with Poppy in case you hear jingling. If you hear jingling or a bone or barking, it's the dog.

SPEAKER_02

It's the dog.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But she's alone, and if I leave the room, she'll bark even more. So we'll just hope that she's cool while we're here.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Keep her cool, Poppy. Um she's like, I know you're there. So what have you been up to?

SPEAKER_02

Um we went to New York and saw the Cursed Child play. We did. Yes, we did. Tom Felton playing Dragon Ma boy. That was so good. It was. It was really good.

SPEAKER_00

Um I want to take Amanda to go see it.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I feel like I was just waiting for Tom Felton to be in the role for me to see this play. Just saying.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, maybe if like another person comes in and does it, we'll go see it again. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_02

If Rupert Grant comes on as Ron Weasel would. Oh yeah, that would be cool. Honestly, Daniel just hop over from your play and go right over to the room. Really?

SPEAKER_00

They should just have like a one-month contract where they all come back and play themselves on the scene. Exactly. Oh my god, I would love that. That would be probably the tickets would be like 2,000. Everyone except for Neville, because he's not in the play. Yeah. They might have to write him in.

SPEAKER_02

Just to have the actor.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Or he could play somebody else, like a side character that he just randomly comes in for.

SPEAKER_00

True.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But so we would we did that, and before that, we spent hours in the Harry Potter store.

SPEAKER_01

We did. It was a really nice store.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. It uh you guys spent so much money.

SPEAKER_02

Uh I did too. I honestly didn't spend as much as I thought I was going to, so it's fine. It's fine.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I spent more by default because I bought Jen's like stuff as well, some of her stuff. Yeah. But it was fun. It's a really cool place to go to and become poor.

SPEAKER_02

Fun little day. Yeah, we only needed the one day. We didn't need to stay. We got Taco Bell for dinner.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I went into like a little Korean market and got what were those things called? They were like little sushi wraps or something.

SPEAKER_02

Uh it all just sounded gross to me.

SPEAKER_00

It was pretty good. At first I was like, so when we came back, I stayed with you, and then the next day I got violently ill here.

SPEAKER_02

I was like, Um, I wonder if that's a coincidence.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know. Well, you Jen had some of my food too, and she was fine. Like one bite of your food. It was all hormone. It happens once a month for me around that time, and I was like hoping I would get out of it, but I was not safe. So yeah, so this uh we weren't even able to do the podcast because um I it took me all day to recover.

SPEAKER_02

She was just laying in bed, like, oh, I'm dying.

SPEAKER_00

Throwing up in your bathroom, just like it was so gross.

SPEAKER_02

I know. Our plan was to knock some out, too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, the universe had other plans.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so we're here again. Yay! Yay!

SPEAKER_00

And I'm not throwing up. So um, how about you? Anything other than New York? Not really. You know, just we're doing some projects around the house, like stating. We oh, my parents did pay for us to get a fence because uh I know they dropped some more change on us.

SPEAKER_02

Just a few thousand. So because the mom spent a hot minute on our events.

SPEAKER_00

They're so expensive, but our like our son can be able to do that.

SPEAKER_02

You also trying to leave though, too, to be fair.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Well, we only we did the other half of the because we paid for well, we didn't even pay for that either. But we needed, we needed to finish the other side, and uh my son keeps trying to leave the yard, so my parents were like, this is a safety issue, we're just gonna pay for this. Because like so we got a new fence, and now we're like going around and staining it so it looks nice, but um, yeah, just stuff around the house, and I think that's about it. Nothing like super crazy.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Um, sorry, Poppy is like legit trying to get this ball that fell under the couch. She's determined. So if you hear some scratching or jingling. It's just our waiting music in the background. It's just the ASMR that we give you to.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Um there's some watch, someone who's listening is like, I hate jingling noises. Sorry.

SPEAKER_02

Um, Brittany will make some mouth sounds later. I don't know. Oh god. Um, but yeah, um, other than the New York trip, we don't have much of a life here. Um yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um Well, I guess we'll just go into the episode. I don't have a tarot, so yeah, so alright.

SPEAKER_02

Um, we're fading in in the exterior of a summer's house. Um we cut inside to where uh in the living room. We see Tara, Anya, and Willow on the sofa. Xander sits in a chair, Buffy and Giles are standing. Uh Buffy moves around to pick up some stuff that's lying around, just apologizing for not being able to pick up uh the slack. They try to reassure her. Um she ends up picking up a sweater that's Riley's, and she looks very sad when she looks at it. Um Xander tries to change the topic, so they um they have a meeting. Girls starts to say that the council of watchers have info that may help them out with glory, and he mentions that they're also coming there because apparently they can't say it over the phone. Yeah. Um, Buffy is shocked that they're coming. Um, and she also can't tell. Tara asks what's so bad about them, and Ja says they can just be hard-nosed, but the agenda is the same to save the world and to kill demons. Anya panics and makes sure that just current demons, right? Not past demons. Um, Buffy is spiraling about them coming and how she doesn't trust them, and Anya makes uh some commentary about not liking the sounds of them. They all continue talking about the council, and we see Dawn on the stairs listening in, wearing PJs. Um, Joyce comes down the stairs and sees Dawn and sends her back to bed. Um, Poppy, hi. She's just like greeting Britney.

SPEAKER_00

She's like, You guys are supposed to be downstairs, not supposed to be up here.

SPEAKER_02

You're supposed to be paying attention to me. Um so we're in the living room. Buffy hears Joyce and looks alarmed. Asks if Dawn is listening. Dawn responds that she's just getting a snack and goes back up the stairs. Buffy still looks alarmed that she was listening, but tells Giles to go on. He continues to talk about Glory. Is that at this point? Do does everybody know about Dawn? Uh at this point, no. I think it's the next episode.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_02

If I remember correctly, I think the next episode they find out. Because, oh, okay, okay, yeah. Because at the end of this, when they find out she's a god, they're all like, oh, we gotta figure out, you know, how to stop her, oh, maybe the key. And they go on and then Buffy has to admit at one point who it is. I think only Buffy, Girls, and Joyce know at this time.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Well, it's been so long since I did these notes, so I don't remember everything, but alright. So we'll just continue on.

SPEAKER_02

Um, so we're um over with Glory. She's sitting on the floor of her apartment, panting and sweaty, looking pale and in pain. The door bursts open, and Dreg enters with another demon who looks just like him, Jinx. Um, they are dragging a man in a postal carry uniform. They throw him to the floor um while the man begs for his life. Uh, Jinx goes to Glory and drags her towards the mailman. She gets up on her knees and the demon puts her hands on the mailman's head. I guess she's um too weak to even like lift her hands at this point. She puts her fingers on the sides of his head and then pushes them into his head. Instead of blood, yellow light streams out as Glory pushes her hands deeper into his brain. Both Glory and the mailman scream, and after a moment the light stops. They both fall to the floor. Glory lies on the floor panting and smiling. She no longer looks pale or sweaty. She looks at the mailman in disgust, smacks the side of his head. He sits up, stands, and starts muttering gibberish. She tells him, uh, tells the demons to throw him out and asks Jinx what he has what info he has for her. He tells her the alignment is moving faster than expected and she must find the key fast. She says, Mousy little vampire slayer mostly likely knows what uh where it is, and if she's the only thing standing in her way, she will have the key soon. This is a theme song. Doo doo doo doo.

SPEAKER_00

Uh faded on the magic shop. Giles is talking to some female customer, and we hear someone cut in on the combo, and we see that's Quentin Travers standing there with six other watchers behind him. There's like four men and two women. Giles is shocked he's there already and asks to be introduced to his colleagues, but Travers says they need to catch up first. The other watchers begin to spread out through the store while Giles and Travers chat, and the watchers are going through the store, analyzing all of the objects, and they would bring him like the dangerous stuff. Um, Travers apologizes to Giles, and one of the watchers named Nigel announces that the store is closing early today, and Travers tells Giles it's just for the duration of their stay. Meanwhile, Anya's yelling out at the customers to come back with their money. Watchers escort the customers out while Giles is just glaring at Travers, and Travers asks, um he uh again tells him it's just while the council is there for the review, and Anya announces she's going in the back, and then Travers asks Anya if she works there, and she stops walking and turns back apprehensive, and she says, Yes, I do, ever since I moved here from southeastern Indiana, where I was raised by a mother and a father. Giles tells her if she can go and she is relieved and leaves. She's like super nervous, like the whole time they're here. It's pretty funny. All the watchers move toward the round table at the uh far end of the store. Um, another watcher pours some tea. The others stand around. Giles makes a sarcastic comment at them, and Travers points out that Giles was once one of them. Giles reminds him that he fired him. Another watcher puts a suitcase on the table and opens it, takes out some papers and puts them in front of um Travers. Another what the watch the same watcher with the tea gives Travers a cup of it, and then Travers uh tells him they have vital info about Glory, but won't give it until Giles and Buffy are prepared for it, hence the review. He wants to check her methods to make sure the info is safe, and Giles tells him Buffy has come far and has acquired remarkable focus. Then we cut to UC Sunnydale classroom where Buffy's sitting there yawning while the professor lectures. She's extremely fidgety and bored and makes a comment to herself, but the professor calls her out. The students look at Buffy and she just makes a pain face and stands up as the professor gives her a disapproving look. Buffy and the professor have like this really awkward back and forth, and the professor gets snarky with her. Okay, these professors are like so rude here. They are like uh I've never I went to college and they weren't rude, like well, there was one.

SPEAKER_02

But they weren't like Yeah, the way that they they describe, which is you could tell this is Joss was not here for this because Jos Whedon, like that's his big thing that he uh was raised by teacher, by a teacher, and he's he has like all this respect for teachers, and that's why he made Giles kind of like a teacher in a way.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, was he not writing these at this point?

SPEAKER_02

I think he was on Angel.

SPEAKER_00

So he was primarily doing Angel thing.

SPEAKER_02

He kept on coming back, and he would come back for some of Buffy, and I think for the overall arching plot of this show of the season, he was. But I think he was also he was splitting his time between Angel and Buffy, and then I'm not sure if at this time he was creating Firefly or not, but Firefly comes in around this time too, I think. Because it ends before season seven of Buffy, and that's why we get Nathan Filling in and some other people from Firefly come in to season seven of Buffy because he just takes from them because the show is cancelled. I never even watched that one. I didn't watch it either. Um it's more it's really sci-fi, and um, I imagine it uh everyone says it's really, really good. And I know they're coming back with something.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. They'll come back with that, but not Buffy. It's crazy.

SPEAKER_02

Well, because I'm pretty sure what they're coming back with Firefly is not like a whole show. I think they're coming back as like a Is it animated?

SPEAKER_00

Did I hear something like that? Is it animated? Okay, listen, people out in Hollywood, you have got to make you listen to this podcast. Yeah. Someone has to clip this. You have got to make a Bob's burgers rendition of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

SPEAKER_02

And you wouldn't think you'd watch it, but then you want you see the little character, you're like, Yes, I would watch this.

SPEAKER_00

They're so cute. It's like this would actually be like you can put the humor in it and everything, and it would work.

SPEAKER_02

I think the what they were gonna do the uh Midnight Sun edition of Twilight in animated form, which is all Edward's point of view.

SPEAKER_00

Uh I don't want that. I want the Buffy Bob's burgers, and then like James Marsters, he could actually come back as Spike because he's animated. So, like, they need to go that route.

SPEAKER_02

If they're gonna bring back Buffy at this point, like if you're gonna do that, I want a Buffy show. I don't want the next slayer, I don't want, you know, you gotta I don't want side characters becoming the main characters. I want Buffy. Like, I want the whole original like crew there. Yeah, obviously not everyone's gonna probably gonna voice everybody, but just we gotta manifest this. I want Buffy. I don't want the next the next slayer show in the Sarah Michelle Geller. If we're doing animated, I understand doing what they're doing with a live action because Sarah Michelle Geller is aged, everyone else is aged.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly.

SPEAKER_02

Physically, some of the things probably can't do.

SPEAKER_00

Which is why we But if you're doing animated, I insist. You know what? I'm gonna take this into my own hands. I'm gonna I'm gonna start pushing for it, and I'm gonna clip it and I'm gonna put it all over social media that we need to have this. Sarah Michelle Geller, all of them can well, not Nicholas Brendan, rest in peace, but like almost all of we're done. So oh gosh, we're losing them. We gotta do this quick and snap, people. They're all dying. Come on.

SPEAKER_02

He's the next one to go.

unknown

Giles.

SPEAKER_00

Nah, he's gonna outlive a lot of people, probably. He's got that wisdom.

SPEAKER_02

He's got that wisdom, he had that uh Uther Pendragon wisdom.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Um, all right, well, let's get back to this. I'll I'll make sure I talk to the right people.

SPEAKER_02

So you talk.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So Buffy, uh, so after this like whole like obnoxious teacher thing, sh Buffy just like sits down scowling, and then it cuts to the graveyard at night, and Buffy's fighting a vampire. She kicks s she kicks him backward and is still annoyed about the professor lecture while beating up on the vamp. She's just mocking the professor the whole entire time as she should. Um, Buffy approaches and the vamp punches her in the face and she spins around from the blow, and she gets her bearings and turns to tack again, but Spike comes flying over the headstone and grabs the vamp from behind, knocking him to the ground. And as he gets up, Spike kicks him, then stakes him. Spike grins at Buffy, who stalks forward. She's like asking him why he did that, and he responds with not for the money, if that's what you're thinking. Your heartfelt gratitude's plenty. I expect I'll be getting that any moment. And he was like very serious about it, too. Buffy tells him that he got in her way, and Spike says he saved her and she needed help. Um, she tells him she doesn't ever need him and starts to walk off, and he just follows and is pesting her about the men in her life, leaving her. Uh, she's disgusted with him and tells him the more she gets to know him, the more she wishes she did it. And he gives her one last zinger and heads off.

SPEAKER_02

Um okay, so we're cutting to the interior of the hospital. Ben comes around a corner wearing scrubs and putting on his jacket. Jinx comes out of the doorway and grabs him, and um he pulls Ben into an empty room. Um Ben tells him not to touch him, and uh what does he want? And Jinx tells him that Glory wants more information on the slayer. And Ben tells him that he doesn't know a slayer and um to get away from him.

unknown

I don't see it.

SPEAKER_00

Sometimes I wish we had video to our podcast just so people could see what's happening behind the scenes.

SPEAKER_02

Really glad you don't. Poppy um likes to do hair, she's a professional hairdresser in her free time that you know she taught herself.

SPEAKER_00

I think she's just chewing your hair off, honestly.

SPEAKER_02

She's like grabbing it and she's trying to get to the hairband.

SPEAKER_00

I mean she's she is getting close. She's like 50 more chumps, and I've got it.

SPEAKER_01

Sorry, she was like, She's a little weird, but she likes doing hair.

SPEAKER_02

Anywho, so uh Ben asks um what Jinx wants. Jinx says that Glory wants more information on the slayer, and Ben tells him that he doesn't know a slayer to take it away, and Jinx tells him that Buffy is the slayer, and Ben is shocked. He doesn't want to help Glory, but does tell Jinx he has a message for her. Um we cut over to uh the magic shop. Uh Giles is walking out of the back room along with the other watchers. Um, Buffy enters and sees um the watchers and tries to back out. Travers calls her out. Buffy enters reluctantly, closing the door behind her. Um they uh tell her that they're gonna have her demonstrate her training regimen and interview her friends. Then she takes them on patrol. Traver explains that the slayer is the instrument by which we fight, but don't pay. The council remains, the slayer is changed. Um, it's been that way since the beginning. Giles isn't too happy about the whole interaction and gets a wee bit defensive. And Travers says they have the power to shut the magic shop down and have Giles deported if she doesn't comply. And now she isn't pleased. She looks angrily from Travers to Giles and then back, and she glares at him. In Glory's department, um, Jinx enters, holding his head down to hide his face. Jinx lifts his head to reveal his face is bruised and bloody. We see Glory standing in front of a vanity with a towel wrapped around her. Um he tells her it's a message from Ben that he isn't gonna help. Uh Glory is upset with this news. She grabs her head in frustration. Jinx watches. Glory calms down and begins walking towards him. She goes on about how easy it would be for Ben to talk to her. Or bang the key out of her. Jinx makes a point to uh mention how attractive Ben is. And Gloria's like, duh, yeah, he's attractive. But he drives her insane. She then says that she'll just have to find Buffy herself. This is if we go to the magic shop. Buffy and Giles are alone. Uh Buffy sits at the round table. Giles paces. They're just complaining about the council at this point. Um, she asks if they can kick uh if they can really kick him out of the country, and he tells her that it's in a heartbeat. Um they have the best political strings. Sorry. Um there's a crunching noise as Giles' glasses break in his hands from a too vigorous cleaning. Uh one of the lenses he has is popped out of the frame. Giles looks down at them and Buffy wonders if she'll be able to get through the review. Mainly the part of examining the decisions she's made, especially with how she hasn't been able to defeat Glory. Giles reassures her, but she's still frustrated at herself. She tells Giles that they're smart to threaten him because she can't lose them, and then she asks how they'll um um how they'll start. This is when we cut over to Anya and Xander. Um Anya is sitting um next to Xander in um his apartment, and um Anya is like, I guess, interviewing, like, or like they're interviewing Anya, the Watchers Council and Xander, and he's she's like, I am Anya Christina Emanuela Jenkins, 20 years old, born on the 4th of July. Don't think there were any jokes about that my whole life, Mr. Cuz they were some, who's our little patriot, they'd say when I was younger, and therefore smaller and shuttered than I am now. Um we see Philip, the uh the council dude and uh watcher from across the table. Um they move on to the next question. This is when we cut over to Willow and Tara's room, and Willow and Tara are sitting on the bed. Nigel stands before them with a notebook and says they need to know more about the slayer and what is their relationship. Tara and Willow bumble about the answer and tell them that they're lovers, lesbian gay type lovers. Oh this is how Brittany introduces herself. Yeah, definitely not. Um Nigel tells them that he um meant with the slayer, the relationship with the slayer. And both of the girls look embarrassed. Uh Willow removes her hand from Tara's knee, and um Tara says they're very good friends. We cut back to Xander and Anya's interrogation. Xander is telling them that they are best friends. They've been together since the beginning. They can go on patrols and do demon research. There's a whole back-and-forth cutscene between um them being interviewed for a bit. Then it cuts to Spike being interviewed, and he does not help any by saying Buffy pays him sometimes or lets him take a nip of blood off of a victim. One of the female watchers mentions how she wrote her thesis on Spike and he gets a bit chummy with her. Uh, but then that's how is Buffy doing on her tests?

SPEAKER_00

Um cut to the workout room in the back of the magic shop. Nigel's tying a blindfold around Buffy's head. Charles and the other watchers are standing around. Travers is telling her they will be testing her agility and stamina. Travers explains um to one of the watchers, or explains that one of the watchers named Philip will be attacking the dummy and Buffy is to protect it. He continues on that listening to his instructions at the same time, that will demonstrate clarity and stamina and strength will win the long fight. He also says he's telling her the Japanese names for Aikido and Jujitsu moves. Um Buffy is astonished because she doesn't understand Japanese instructions. Um, a watcher starts the stopwatch and the test begins. Philip bows towards Buffy and he's holding a short axe. Traver says something in Japanese, and Giles tells Buffy to bow, which she does. Philip circles around her. Buffy follows his movements. Um, he thrusts at the dummy and Buffy blocks. Then she kicks at him and misses. She spins around and blocks his overhead punch, and Philip punches Buffy in the face. There's a whole scene here of Buffy failing to understand the Japanese commands and Japanese transition.

SPEAKER_02

What you need to know is beyond what what purpose does that have unless she's going to Japan.

SPEAKER_00

I have no idea.

SPEAKER_02

And for some reason, some Japanese people are yelling at her to do stuff.

SPEAKER_00

Because they wanted her to fail.

SPEAKER_02

I was like, this is like the weirdest thing. I'm like, what how does this apply to her everyday patrolling slayer life? Like, this is a very unique situation that she probably won't have to go through.

SPEAKER_00

I have no clue. But eventually she's tired of it and says she's doing it her own way. So Bu Philip swings the weapon, she ducks, and he lifts it for an overhead blow, and Buffy grabs the handle, kicks him in the stomach, and forces him back against the training horse and elbows him in the face. He tumbles backward over the horse, losing his grip on the weapon, and the momentum pulls it out of Buffy's hand and it flies backward to land in the dummy's chest, knocking the dummy backward into Nigel. He falls to the floor with the dummy on him, and Buffy turns around, pulling the blindfold off, and is like, uh-oh. And Philip most likely has a broken rib, and Travers tells her they probably don't need any more physical tests for a while, and they will move on to the next test that night. The watchers leave, and Buffy and Giles look glum. Gloom. Glum. Why is it? I think glum. I almost wanted to say gum. And I was like, you're the one who um who wrote it, so um cut to Buffy entering the summer's home. Uh she walks towards the living room. As she rounds the corner, she comes face to face with Glory. We see Buffy looking apprehensively at Glory as she checks out the living room, making commentary. As Glory is speaking with her back to Buffy. Um Buffy moves across the room to the fireplace to pick up a poker. And when she straightens up, Gloria is right behind her and takes the poker. She tells Buffy to play nice and sits in the armchair. Buffy asks what she wants, and Glory tells her the key. Just then, Dawn enters behind Glory. Buffy looks at Dawn in alarm, tries not to let Glory see her looking, and then Dawn walks closer, and Buffy widens her eyes to signal Dawn to go away. Glory is still going on about the key during all of this, and by then Dawn has reached the stairs, and she begins to turn away when Glory calls out to her and tells her to come in. Dawn approaches, still behind Glory and out of um. Oh my god, I just lost my vision. It's like, where did it go? Uh oh yes, she's still behind Glory and um out of her line of sight. Glory lifts her hand over her head and snaps her fingers, and Dawn walks into her view, folds her arms over her chest sullenly. Glory starts talking to Dawn about how Buffy took her key and if she knows where it is. Buffy tells Dawn to go back upstairs and she's upset at Buffy because she's always talking about stuff she shouldn't hear. Dawn leaves and Glory says how she likes her. She's sassy. But she will kill her and Buffy's mom and friends, and she will make her watch. She warns her to give her the key soon or next time someone she loves will die. She drops the poker on the floor and leaves. Buffy watches her go with a grim expression, and Joyce enters and asks who that is, and Buffy tells her to pack a bag. Cut to Spike asleep in his crypt, a ray of sunshine falls on his face as the door opens, somehow it wasn't burning his face, and he screams and jumps up to find Buffy standing beside his uh bed, I guess. Um he sarcastically is like, Oh, it's a slayer for a second there, I was worried. He starts to rub his eyes and pauses and looks over at the other end of the crypt, and uh there's a shot of Dawn and Joyce standing by the door. He asks what they're doing there, and Buffy says she needs his help. He continues to be sarcastic with her, but she's serious with him. He agrees to help her and invites the girls all the way into his room. Buffy tries to remind him that if and he cuts her off saying, Yeah, yeah, anything happens to him, I'll stake it good and proper. Sing me a new one sometime. That one's a bit stale. Um so Buffy leaves. Spike, Dawn, and Joyce stand around looking uncomfortable, and then Joyce is like, I love what you've um neglected to do at the place. Um, Spike tells them to not break anything and to be quiet as passions is coming on. Joyce perks up and asks him if he thinks Timmy is really dead, and Spike um gestures to his armchair. He and Joyce each sit on an arm and start talking about passions. And so cute. Dawn makes like a face and walks off.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so we come over to the magic shop at night. The watchers are walking around, looking at books, moving stuff around. Jal sits at a chair by the table. Any is under willow and terrace sit on the balcony above looking down. I always forget about this little loft balcony thing until someone points it out. Um their feet dangle in the air and they lean against the railing watching the watchers make uh and making commentary about them. Um below, Travers walks over to where Giles is sitting and points out that Buffy is 20 minutes late. Um this is when we go over to Buffy. She's in a dark alley, she looks at her watch and says she says crap and then walks faster. Um then suddenly someone appears from behind a trash can and grabs her around the waist, pulling her down. They both get up. It's a person in a medieval armor with chain mail covering his face. He backhands uh Buffy. She spins and uh flies into a pile of garbage. She straightens up as two more knights appear. Um they have swords and metal staves and they circle around her. There's basically like an overshot of all of them. Um and this is when Buffy kicks all their asses and ends up pushing onto the ground uh pushing up the one onto the ground and um with his uh with his own staff at his throat. She removes the chain man mass to reveal an ordinary ordinary-looking human man with a symbol on his forehead. He says he's just one of the knights of Byzantium, an ancient order, and now her enemy. He tells her that as long as she protects the key, the brotherhood will never stop until they destroy it. He tells her to go ahead and kill him. Buffy shoves his staff into his third again and then tosses it aside and um gets up and picks up the sword. The knight gets up to his feet and put uh she puts the sword to his throat. Um he turns his away, waiting for the kill stroke, but she tells him just to go. The knight looks surprised, edges around her, and leaves. We cut over to her going into the magic shop, still holding the sword. Um the watchers are staying around doing nothing but getting paid. Um the four slayerets are sitting in the upper level. Um, Travers is at the table, and Jales is on the stairs, um leading up to the balcony. Travers tells her that she's late, and she calmly mentions that there was an attack. Travers says they can start the review, but Buffy puts a sword down on his papers and says there won't be one. There's no review, no interrogation, no questions. You know I can't answer, no hoops, no jumps. And as someone uh tries to speak, she says no interruptions. Uh Buffy looks around, begins to pace. She continues on about how the last few days everyone has been lining up to tell her how unimportant she is, but she's finally figured out why. She has the power, they don't, and that bothers them. She moves back um to the table, removing her coat, and says, Glory came to her house today to just talk. Glory could have easily killed her, but she didn't because she needs something from her. Buffy has the power over Glory. Buffy looks around, hands on her hip. Um she walks the floor, looking from one watcher to the next as she talks. She says they didn't come from England to determine if she was good enough to let back in. They came to beg her to let him back in. Nigel starts to interrupt, but Buffy grabs a sword from the table and throws it across the room in a single movement. It flies point first into the wall directly in front of Nigel's nose. He jumps back looking shocked. She tells him that sh there was no interruptions. She continues on about how they're just watchers without a slayer, that they're nothing, they can't stop glory. She tells him that they're gonna um tell them everything that they know and go away. The magic shop will remain open, Giles will stay as your watcher, and be reinstated at full salary. Giles cost retroactive. Um and Buffy adds on for him to be paid retroactively from the month he was fired. Um, and that her friends will help her work. She does say that there are two very powerful witchers, witches, and a thousand-year-old ex-demon, and a boy who has clocked more fuel time than all the watchers combined. Um, she looks at the trappers, waiting for his answer. He says the turns are acceptable. Jaws is fairly happy. All that money coming.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, for real.

SPEAKER_02

I don't kinda want to know what his salary was. I had probably like 20,000 a year. He was, I don't know, he was able to last over a year on no um no job. That's true. Because he was he was out of job the entire season four. Yeah, that's true. He must have had something. Um anyway. Um the Slayerets burst into cheers and applause, but quickly stops look and look embarrassed. Buffy looks up at them, looks at Giles. She looks satisfied. Um, she sits across from Travers and asks about the info on Glory. She wants to know what kind of demon she is. And Traver tells her that Glory isn't a demon. She is a god. And after a long pause, Buffy says, Oh. And that's the end. Yeah. So, yeah. Well. Gotta be finally established what Glory is. Um, nice little build-up there.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm. A god. How do you defeat a god? I've seen Hercules. It's hard to do.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. It's very satisfying letting those watchers get their place. Like, what is the point of them? If they're not one slayer at a time, you have all these watchers. They don't pay those slayers either. Makes no sense to me. Um, they're paying them.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they're like, where's Faith at this point in the show? She's in jail.

SPEAKER_02

She's in jail. I think he's in jail. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure she goes to Angel for like an episode or two or something like that, and she gets put in jail. I think she stays voluntarily in jail, but I don't know if this is exactly the time she's in jail or if it's a little later. I can't remember the I don't remember the timeline angel-wise. But she does go to jail and she voluntarily decides to stay there rather than trying to because she could easily escape, but she's like I think she is trying to gain penance from what she did.

SPEAKER_00

Um it seems like these men just want to have power over something. So they're just holding power over her or something. Oh, 100%. That's what they did to all the rest of them. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um toxic men. Yeah, that's the whole point of the show.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Um but you know, at least they were put in their place and Gels, but not Buffy. Apparently, it was getting paid again. Yeah. And they have the info that they needed. Yeah. So, but yeah, this episode, I I don't think it's very cheesy. I would say this is a cheesy episode. I would give this a lower rating. Like four.

SPEAKER_02

Again, the the our cheese rating isn't based off how good it is, how bad it is, it's how cheesy it is. Yeah, it's not super cheesy.

SPEAKER_00

It's not cheesy. The cheesiest thing about this was probably either interrogations. No, well, the I was thinking of the the monks. They're so cheesy to me, but also I think they're funny. The knights of what was it, Byzantine?

SPEAKER_02

Uh no, um, I can I can when I read it, I can say it out loud. The knights with the things on their foregoes. Oh my god. When I read it, I knew exactly what to say. As soon as you asked me, I'm like, what? Knights of Byzantium. Uh yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I would still give this like a four.

SPEAKER_02

It wasn't Yeah, yeah, I can say four, four point five. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. It wasn't cheesy. But um, but yeah, so I I liked it. Um, it does give you the information you need um after a certain time.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we didn't.

SPEAKER_02

Again, that could have been a phone call.

SPEAKER_00

Or a zoom meeting if it was today. Yeah, for real. What was your favorite scene in the this one? Oh, I think. Because mine was definitely Spike and Joyce.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, always. I think that's anytime you put an episode of Spike and Joyce together, it's immediately gonna go up to the top couple of uh scenes.

SPEAKER_00

They could have their own show.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, if anybody's listening, bring Joyce back Bob's Burger's episode version, anime version, where the entire show is just Joyce and Spike. Sitting there talking, watching Passions. Yeah. Um, I would have loved that. I do love that like one of the points people say against Angel, like for Spike against Angel, when they talk about who's team Angel, who's Spike, they say at least Spike got close to each summer woman. He was close to Spuffy, he was close to Don, he had a good relationship with Don, and he had a very close and like relationship with Joyce. So at point for Spike, like he like was a like, you know. Yeah, he wasn't like Angel, who just I mean, we really didn't get interactions with Angel and Dawn because Dawn didn't exist. I imagine there was in the memories that were implanted, but I we don't see it. I actually would like to see that. Yeah, so it had interactions because the next time you see the next couple of times you see Angel in the show, it's just with Buffy and no one else. So there's no interactions with anybody.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Well, alright. Yeah. Well, there's that one. And then we move on to the we're getting close to the good stuff.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think we're in it. Um we're closer to the end of the season. A little bit. Uh there's still a good time to go.

SPEAKER_00

I was about to say, which where are we?

SPEAKER_02

I well, I think we're like mid, right? Am I wrong? Or mid? I think we're mid. I think this is episode twelve. Oh, wow. I want to say. So we're mid. Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_00

We're still we're chugging away.

SPEAKER_02

We're getting there.

SPEAKER_00

Alright. Well, all right. I think we can wrap this one up. Yeah, we did good. Yeah.
