Hello, welcome to another episode. I'm Britt and I'm Sarah. And we are here with uh I was made to love you.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I was made to love you. Oh my god. Not you. I know.
SPEAKER_01Shout out to Amanda. Oh honestly, I just watched this and already forgot what it was about. It's the robot one. Oh yeah. I watched it here with you like a week ago or something. Yeah. Maybe a couple weeks. Um yeah, this was uh an interesting one.
SPEAKER_03It introduces the grand character of Warren. Oh yes. And it brings up I mean, this is what we will eventually get. Buffybot is because of this episode. Um and Buffybot's fun.
SPEAKER_01I don't regret Buffybot. I know bits and pieces of uh that one. Yeah. Because I can't remember everything.
SPEAKER_03Two experiences together.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um how have you been?
SPEAKER_03Good. Tired. Yeah. I felt like I so I had a short week between the holiday and um also just uh I I also took uh the day off after like going into the next day, and um it was a short week for me, but I felt so long. Um other than that, I read two of my favorite books of the year um from Haley Turner and Gail Ian Tate. Shout out to them. Um and I will shut up now because otherwise I will talk everyone's ear off for the next 20 years.
SPEAKER_01So how about you? Um I'm been good. You came over with your mom and we had we celebrated Memorial Day together. That was fun, and we had some delicious food. I finally finished uh I think it was called Sunrise on the Reaping. Oh, okay. The Hunger Games, and now I'm on the ballad of the songbirds and snakes, I think is what it's called. So um it's going pretty well. Uh reading makes me fall asleep, so it takes a long time for me to get through a book, but I like it. I have like 15 other books ready to go too, so I'm like, I need to power through these. My problem was I rented it on the like an audiobook version, but I did not like the guy who was speaking, so I was like, Well, I guess I can't listen to this.
SPEAKER_03I had that problem once. There was a book called Consider Me by Becca Mack, where it was my one of my favorite year uh reads of the year that I read it, and but then I got the audiobook and I had to DNF it essentially because what is DNF? Do not finish. Oh, I am not up with the lingo. The lingo, um, but essentially the guy did a fantastic job at his own like male voice, and the girl did a fantastic job at her own female voice. But when they had to talk, like narrate for the other one, like during their chapters, oh, it was so cringy, it was so bad. Like the uh the guy could not speak in a girl voice without making it seem like the girl was just this weird, like slutty, like I don't know, like this weird cliche of a girl. And the girl was just horrible, just in now I have to hear this second judge. No, no, but it I couldn't finish the book, and I loved the book, um, but it was just so bad I couldn't get over it. And um sometimes it happens. Now I only really read and listen to uh male male books, so I don't really have that issue anymore. Either they're good or not, but they're still bad narrators, but generally don't have to worry about them being horrible at the other girl's voice, so yeah, anymore.
SPEAKER_01So well, yeah, I don't really run into this problem too often, but this was one of the cases, so it happens, yeah, but alright, should we uh get into this episode?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, let's go. Alright, so we're in the trade room, it's nighttime. Buffy is training with Giles and complaining about how Spike wants her, basically talking about the previous episode crush. Um, when Spike confesses his feelings and Buffy is just disgusted. Um, she's punching out her anger on this like giant bean bag like thing. Um Giles comments that it's all very strange. Um, Buffy thinks it's gross, and she can just to Kate didn't use the kick and punch the heavy bag. Um Kay tells her she is not responsible for what Spike thinks or feels. At this point, we hear a pain noise, and the carapans reveal that the Buffy had been beating up Xander, who is in this enormous padded suit that people use to um train attack dogs. It was pretty funny.
SPEAKER_01Uh wrestler almost.
SPEAKER_03Buffy immediately checks if Xander's okay. He says he knows he's alive because of all the pain. Buffy helps him lean because he can't really sit in the suit. Um she is spiraling about everything with Spike, and Xander stops her, tells her that um there will be a good person for her that will come along. Buffy blames slain and fighting as to why she can't keep a man, and Xander tells her that um she should just be Buffy, that they will see her uh her amazing heart and fall in love with her. Buffy hugs him, ward tries, put the suit on. Xander then asks if she thinks the reason she hasn't found a good relationship on the Helmuth, because it is a Hellmouth. This was such a good uh this was such a bad place to build anything. For right now. Oh, I told Britney earlier before the episode, I have thoughts about Xander in this episode. I will bring them up later. Okay, as we go. Just thoughts. Uh I'm very conflicted with this episode. Um, Sunnydale Street. Uh, we have a car pulling up to the curb, uh, passenger door opens, and a young woman, um, it's April, gets out. She's wearing a pretty bright-colored short dress with high heels. Oh, what did you just say hi, Sarah? Was it you? I'm talking about maybe like my auto thing, like you know, like you hit buttons.
SPEAKER_01It was me. I went through and put a note for you. Why? Just for this moment to bring us here. Just to stop. Just to see if you're okay. Why? You look so tired. Always talking about it. Let me catch her off her guard.
SPEAKER_03Why? We're now stopped, we now stopped the store the thing. Congratulations. Yes. She thanks the driver, and when he asks her what she's trying to find inside, she says, uh, true love. Not the theme.
SPEAKER_01Doo doo doo doo. Um, so we're at Buffy's house in the living room. Uh Joyce is modeling an attractive dress for Dawn. I see you typing. Dawn. And Buffy, and she's like turning around in circles, and they're like messing with her a bit. And they're like really happy for her and her date. Joyce asks about the dress, asks if it's momish, and Dawn agrees it's momish, and Buffy disagrees, says it's sexy. Buffy asks about Brian, the man she is seeing, and Joyce tells them he works in a publishing house and he is a nice normal guy. Hi, Brittany. That's what you wrote. And all caps yelling at me. Um she tells them she met him her first day back at the gallery. Dawn asks what they are going where they are going what they are doing on the date, and Joyce says dinner and a movie, or the movie and dinner. Joyce seems excited trying to guess how the night will go and like what extra uh restaurant they'll go to. And then it cuts over to Sunnydale Street somewhere. Um Tara and Anya are walking along, and Tara is telling her that Willow is the one good the good woman to put it. She's the one that's good with computers, not her. And Anya says she is 1,100 years old, and the idea of computers is like, whoa. 1100. What did I say? You said 1,100. It's a very long way. 1,000. 100.
SPEAKER_02It's like the things like whatever.
SPEAKER_01I took the roundabout way. She then explains that online trading is great, that she has tripled the money she got from Giles since she started. I was wondering where she got all her money from. They are interrupted by a girl, April, who blocks their path. She's upbeat and tells them outright that she's looking for Warren and asks if they know where he is. Both women say they don't know Warren, and April just smiles, says thank you, and leaves. You then see her step like to a man and ask him if he has seen Warren. And Tara and Anya hesitate for a second before moving on, and they go back to their conversation about Anya's online trading. Um, we're at like the Commons at night. There's a party, there's lots of college kids, beer, music, and it's decorated with a beachy spring break theme. There's like sand and beach umbrellas and tiki torches, and everyone's in Hawaiian shirts. Uh Xander and Buffy are dancing together. Anya and Willow and Tara are together holding cups and watching the two dance. Anya mentions that she lets Xander do that, dance together, and now is expecting a big like reward for doing that. With Xander and Buffy, the dance ends, and Xander heads back to Anya. Buffy sees Ben and she goes to him. Why is Ben at the this college party? Is he in college?
SPEAKER_03He's an intern, and so he probably is like still doing like college classes.
SPEAKER_01He's only coming to Ben yet. Yeah. She awkwardly talks to him, and he is just as awkward back. There's unnecessary laughing, and Buffy asks if he wants to dance, and Ben just says he doesn't have good rhythm but would love to. And then he goes to dump his drink first. Uh, then at the snack table, Anya takes a handful of checks mix, she's Ander, and then we see another guy there named Warren and um other party guests. A lot of them are male. Um so Warren, he's like 20-ish and very nerdy. This is a little nerdy, but he looks very nerdy and awkward.
SPEAKER_03I don't know if he looks a lot nerdy. He is nerdy, but I don't know if he looks a lot nerdy. Like he looks a little nerdy, but he he is nerdy for sure. I think looking nerdy and being nerdy are two very different things. He's not my type. We'll say that too. You can be nerdy and still be someone's type.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I'm just I'm not saying Warren is, I'm just saying he looks like a straight up virgin nerd.
SPEAKER_03We're also like thinking of Warren in future terms right now. Yeah. So maybe some of that's clouded your- I'm not saying that he's a great-looking guy, but I'm saying he doesn't look that bad. We will disagree on this one. Again, I think you're like thinking future Warren stuff. So, like, this is what is he the best looking guy in that show? No, no, no, no. I think even Xander is better looking than him, but I also don't think he's like ugly either. Like, he's a he's a plain, okay looking guy.
SPEAKER_01I think we're we're focusing now too much on his own. Okay. April. He's getting a complex. April walks into the party. Uh she's there's like everybody's looking at April now, and everyone's like, whoa, check out the new talent. Even Xander's distracted, and he asks Anya who she was. And Anya explains she met her with Tara, that she speaks with a strange evenness, and selects her words a shade too precisely. Xander looks to Anya and tells her that some of us like that kind of thing in a girl.
SPEAKER_03So April is looking around, asking for Warren. Uh, we see Warren ducking through the crowd. He arrives at um a girl named Katrina. Um, she's young, and he tells her they need a leaf. She's very confused, but does leave with him. Um at the snack table, Willow talks uh with Xander and Anya. Xander is curious about April, and that's when she comes to the group asking for Warren. Like everyone kind of stops and stares at April. And I'm like, she's pretty. But is she like I'm trying to think of an equivalent of like who would be drop dead gorgeous? Um, uh, what's her name from Transformers? Oh, Megan Fox. Like a mega like that's how they act react to her. Like Megan Fox from Transformers.
SPEAKER_01Maybe they just knew everybody and she was like new.
SPEAKER_03Well, she's new, but yeah, I don't know. It's weird. No, she was pretty attractive. I'm not saying that she's not pretty. She's very pretty. But is she lets the entire room stop and stare at her pretty? Yes. I don't I don't think so. I don't know, but I'm not gay either, so I don't know. Um, but I can I abstractly understand attractiveness. Um, but anyway, so everyone's all like drilling over her. Uh she tells them that um he she's looking for Warren, that uh he lost her. Um when obviously they don't know, she moves on to their group to another and asks them where Warren was. Um we're with Buffy, we see she's alone waiting on Ben. She turns to see Spike. She glares at him, and Spike makes a joke that her looks could stake. He asks if uh she was trolling for her next ex. Uh, then glances around at the college guys and says she can do better. Buffy tells him to leave, and when Ben comes over, he does. Ben is holding a scrap of paper to her and tells her this is his phone number. She hesitates but takes it. Spike is observing this from the another area. His eyes are narrowed. Uh Buffy tries to tell him that she has a bad history with dating and how everyone ends up leaving town. Ben emphasizes this is only she he only expects coffee. Uh Buffy tells him that she will call. During this, Spike decides to either um he decides to make Buffy jealous and then goes to April. He flirts with her while glancing at Buffy to see if she's noticed. She has. Um, April introduced herself, says she's looking for her fella. Spike flirts, says that she may have just found him. April looks excited. Spike leans in close, hands on her shoulders, and whispers in her ear, standing far too close. All of a sudden, you don't hear what he says, but suddenly April rears back. She picks Spike up easily. He struggles, um, startled, and she says that he is not her boyfriend, and then throws Spike through the window. Um, the alarmed partygoers stare, shocked at the steam around the broken window. April, Buffy, Xander, Anya, Will, and Tara watch in the crowd as Spike um struggles to get to his feet. When Spike asks what this was about, April tells him that he cannot make those suggestions to her. She has a boyfriend named Warren. Spike says, You know what? My bleeding sympathies to Warren. Um, Spike exits, goes down the street, trying to maintain his dignity. Um, April decides to address the crowd. No one but Warren can touch me. Buffy steps towards April. Um April tries to move around her, but Buffy blocks her. She tells April that uh while it was very good throwing Spike out the window, she shouldn't be doing that in general. April asks if she knows Warren, and when Buffy says no, she picks Buffy up and tosses her aside. Um she looks down at Buffy sympathetically and says that she has to find him and she is sorry if she hurt her. She then leads to the broken window.
SPEAKER_01So we're at a room near the Commons later. Buffy, Xander, Willow, Anya, and Tara have moved to a quiet room to discuss what had happened. Buffy is like flexing her bruised arm. She tells him she is tired of a super strong woman who isn't her. Um, Tara mentions she didn't do too much damage, and Xander goes on a construction rant on all that it will take to fix it. Buffy poses a question on what they think April was, and almost everyone says robot. A robot intent on finding Warren. Willow says she can look up any Warrens. Uh Buffy leaves to relieve Giles of babysitting duty. And Buffy's foyer that night. Buffy and Giles stand just inside the open front door, and Giles is ready to leave. He has complained that Dawn is too old to be looked after, and Buffy asks what she made him do, and he tells her they listened to aggressively cheerful music, ate cookie dough, and talked about boys. Honestly, it sounds like a fun night. It sounds like a right night. Buffy just laughs. She apologizes and says that she got to see Spike thrown out the window by a robot.
SPEAKER_03That is my dream now. To have a like a night with Giles.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And uh eat cookie dough, talk boys, and listen to like upbeat music.
SPEAKER_01Um Giles seems interested by what Buffy's saying, and then Joyce arrives looking very happy about her date, and then Giles leaves. Um Joyce is so happy, and Buffy asks where the guy was. He didn't walk her to the door or no goodnight kiss. Joyce pretends to have forgotten her bra in his car, and at Buffy's outrage, she says she was just joking, and then she says she actually left it at the restaurant. Buffy runs up the stairs, covering her ears, and saying, No more. Joyce called out after her on the dessert cart um in the streets of Sunnydale. April April is ringing the doorbell of a home, and that like a sleepy man opens, and she asks if he's seen Warren, and he asks her if she knows it's 3 a.m. and slams the door on her face. She's like, bye! And off to the next door of the other house. At the magic box the next morning, Buffy, Xander, Willow, Tara, Anya, and Giles are gathered around the table, and a few customers browse around and Willow's typing on her laptop. Willow did not find a Warren. Xander makes a comment on how pretty April is, and Anya says Xander can say that because she knows he loves her. He takes her hand and Buffy looks wistful. As they talk, Willow finally finds Warren. He was a Sunnydale High student that went to tech college. His parents have a house here in Sunnydale. Buffy announces she will go to talk to him. Giles cautions that they don't know the purpose of the robot. Um, everyone else looks awkward, and Xander blurts that April is a sex bot. He makes a comment about guys dreaming about a beautiful girl with no other thoughts but to do anything to please you. Everyone looks at him disgusted and he sighs wistfully, saying there are too many girls. And he wished Oz was there because while he wouldn't say anything, he would get it. And they speculate why Warren would want a um sex spot when he can find someone real. Buffy says he has a sleaze, but Willow says that people get lonely and maybe it was easier.
SPEAKER_03I love the Oz reference, but it's weird he wouldn't first say Riley because Riley was the one who just left. I had like the male, you know, friendship. I was like, why would he say Riley? Unless Riley really wouldn't get it. I don't know. I'm just saying, I was like, why is Oz the first one you're thinking about?
SPEAKER_01Riley, honestly, neither did Oz. Neither of them seem to be the type that just sit there and talk like boy talk either.
SPEAKER_03Well, again, he says right Oz wouldn't say anything, but he would just get it. Yeah. So but Riley would talk back. That's why I'm like, I don't know, maybe. I don't know. I don't know. Um, I do like the Oz reference, I don't care that much, but yeah. Um, we're in the training room. Um, moments later, Buffy takes out a piece of paper that Ben gave her at the party, looks at the phone number, she looks over at the phone on the wall, hesitates, and then picks up the receiver. Um, if you don't know what a receiver is, I'm not explaining that to you. Um you're watching the wrong show. Uh Gloria's apartment um is at the same time as the call. Gloria is breathing in the middle of a morph. Um She screams and then turns into Ben.
SPEAKER_01Uh yeah, I d was like, is she having sex right now? Because the way they showed it at first, I was like, what is happening?
SPEAKER_03She's turning into Ben. The phone rings, uh, he picks up the receiver. Buffy called, says she wanted to go for coffee. Ben agrees, hangs up, and then we angle out to see that he's wearing Glory's red mini dress. It was really funny. Um, he looked good in it though. He's like, yeah. Almost like, okay. Warren's house. Uh they're um in the living room of this middle class house. Warren is uh stuffing clothes into a duffel bag. Uh Katrina watches, confused. Um, she asks if uh why they were leaving. Warren gets short with her and tells her to pack. She pushes and he decides he doesn't need uh she doesn't need a pack. They could just buy her new stuff. He goes to the front door, opens it as uh Buffy was raising her hand to knock. Katrina is confused on who Buffy was, but Warren is resigned. Asks her if this was about April. Buffy confirms that. Warren tells um his girlfriend to go to the kitchen, but Katrina is not budging, telling him to send Buffy away. He snaps at her to shut up. She decides to leave, she storms out. Buffy introduces herself and Warren asks if April hurt anyone. She says not yet. Warren builds up to reveal the secret about April, and Buffy tries to say she knows, but Warren just keeps interrupting, and he finally tells her very dramatically that April is a robot. But it's all kind of like moot because Buffy's like, yeah, uh-huh. At the Magic Box, uh, Tara, Willow, and Xander are heading towards the front door. Uh Giles and Anya are nearby. Dawn is there wearing her backpack and she trails after Tara. Uh Tara and them. Dawn asks about the robot and brings up Ted, another reference. Uh Willow said, This is not like Ted. Uh, somewhat, I guess. But it wasn't but the purpose wasn't for Sax, I guess, for Ted. But anyway, Xander opens the front door um and he um is holding it open when he turns to talk to Dawn, but a flamey spike rushes through the door. He's covered by a smoldering blanket. Everyone backs away very quickly. He throws the blanket uh very violently on the ground and uh just as it bursts into flames. Um, I don't know how that works. Like if you're covered in a blanket, why would the sun pierce through to get to you? I don't know. It's very weird. It looks like it's a holy blanket. But I was just like, I don't understand the logics of it.
SPEAKER_00I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Anyway. Excuse me. Danny, calm down. My cat is trying to get treats, so she's uh gonna bug me until I give her treats, which I don't have any down here. She just sit upstairs. Anyway. Spike stumps at the fire, he then pulls himself together and looks around casually, as if he just strolled in. Uh Giles tells him that he's not welcome. Everyone, including Don, agrees.
SPEAKER_01Which I don't understand why she all of a sudden has this big issue with him.
SPEAKER_03Because I guess knowing that he had a crush on uh Buffy and knowing how obsessed and stalker he was and creepy it was was two very different things for her. So I think when she knew that he had a crush, he thought it was kind she thought it was kind of ins innocent crush. While I think when more details of like he had pictures all over her, mannequin with her sweater, all that stuff, they change her up. I mean I I guess it I don't know. She's protective of her sister. Yeah. Um so uh Speck is very confused and upset by this trajectory. He seems to not understand why they are upset. Um, Giles gets up and close and personal, tells him to move on from Buffy. Speck then pulls up the burned blanket and puts it over his head and runs out the door. I want to know what he wanted from them. Like, what was he doing with that? I think he he was trying an angle to be on their good side, hoping that if he's on their good side that they will hype him up to Buffy. Like it's all an angle to get to Buffy, and they saw it. Like, I love Spike, but I'm not defending him here. Yeah. I'm like, um, he's trying to get another way to Buffy, so he's going through her friends.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, true.
SPEAKER_03So yeah, I don't know. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_01Um, at Warren's house, Buffy and Warren are in the living room. He looks guilty and miserable. Buffy starts to try to create a scenario as to why Warren would make a robot girlfriend. He says that he felt like he deserved someone, that everyone deserves someone. And Warren tells her that he made April to love him, to care what he cares about, to want to be with him, to listen, support him. He says he thought he could eventually fall in love with her, but she was too predictable and easy and made him crazy. He proceeds to talk about meeting Katrina and how she was funny and cool and he fell in love with her. Oh wait. The Wait, I lost my and he fell he basically fell in love with Katrina. Yeah. But instead of dumping April, he left her in his dorm and never came back. He says he thought her batteries would have died by now. Um Buffy asks if she was dangerous, and Warren says she was only programmed to love, and Buffy takes that as confirmation that she is dangerous. Um, at a playground, it's like a park near Warren's house. Katrina's walking through it, and she um she's pissed off. Oh, yeah, she's not happy. It's like the brisk walk of the truly pissed off. Suddenly, April steps in front of Katrina, bringing her up short. Um, April asks her if she knows where Warren is, and Katrina tells her that this is insane. How many girls are looking for him? She tells April that Warren is her boyfriend and she needs to figure it out. April grabs Katrina by the arm um pretty viciously, and Katrina pulls away after crying out, trying to wrench her arm out of April's uh grasp and run away. April pulls Katrina closer and she struggles, and April ends up holding her in both arms in a bear hug and squeezes the heck out of her. And you can hear like Katrina's ribs beginning to crack, and she tells Katrina to stop lying. Um the chamber under Spike's crypt, he like is throwing like photographs of Buffy into a cardboard box and her cashmere sweater and other clothing, everything that reminded him of Buffy, or everything from the shrine, um, he's thrown away and he's pretty angry. Um the playground, Buffy and Warren walk through the throat, he was throwing it in a box. Oh, well, yeah. I kind of figured he was gonna like throw it away.
SPEAKER_03Well, that's the end of the episode really shows you what he does with it.
SPEAKER_01Oh, right, right, right. He's just putting it in a box. Buffy and Warren walk through the playground, he calls for April, then tells Buffy that April is programmed to answer when she hears his voice, that if she doesn't answer him, there's a kind of feedback. Buffy looks disgusted, clarifies that he hurts her if she doesn't respond. Um Mike getting some purr ASMR here. Warren and Buffy turn to see April, their eyes reflect shock. April's holding up the limp body of Katrina by the neck, and she tells Warren that she tried to find him, but the girl kept lying, so she put her to sleep.
SPEAKER_03Uh Katrina sags in April's Grasp. Uh, this is like right after like a commercial break. Uh, Warren asks April what she did. Um, April begs him not to be angry, that she is trying hard to make him happy. Buffy demands that she put Katrina down. Um April looks to Warren for permission. He tells her to put her down and give Katrina to Buffy. April willingly lets Buffy collect Katrina's unconscious body. Um Buffy confirms Katrina is alive, much to Warren's relief. April asks Warren why he left. She asked if she did something wrong. She waited a long time and he didn't come back. Uh Buffy tells him to finally um dump April essentially. Doesn't say it right there, but I didn't know how to say it without She kind of gives him a look, like, hey, do it. Uh Warren takes a deep breath, tells her that um he made her into everything he ever wanted, and it turned out um to not really be what he wanted. And we're in April's point of view with her robot vision. Uh you see Warren's face, um, but on the edges, there's like tiny uh file folders that are clustered, like a Windows desktop. Um, there's a heading that says make Warren happy, and there's a lot of files that only appear briefly, but if you look quick, you might see some of them. Some are labeled places to rub and listen sympathetically and give him presents, and then there's one that's oral sex, files one through seven, and then one that says praise. Um he tells her that it's over. April tells him she can be whatever she he wants, that she loves him. Warren tells her that he can't love her, that it's not her fault. April is shaken and looks at Warren with danger in her eyes. And then you see her robot vision point of view again. Um the image jumps and wavers, the file folders fade and shift location. Um, it looks like a computer glitch almost. And when the image clears, the folders are gone and um everything's like superimposed over Warren's face. Warren is uh flinching and backing away. He then points at Buffy and tells April that um he's uh she is who uh he loves. And April uh pivots to look at a shocked Buffy. Um now uh Buffy is under the crosshairs, and fight for boyfriend starts flashing to the bottom of April's point of view vision. Ding ding. April growls, and Buffy seems very shocked and asks if he really programmed her to growl. April attacks Buffy and there's a fight scene here. And while they're fighting, Katrina wakes up, confused. Um she scrambles up off the bench, her hand on her neck, where April grabbed her. She looks at Buffy in April's uh fight, um, sees April's exposed circuits, asks if Rapil was if April was a robot. Warren shouts out of nowhere, she wasn't just for sex. Katrina looks shocked and disgusted, asking if she if he actually built his ex. And Warren takes um a step towards her, she freaks out, tells him not to touch her, and then leaves with Warren running after her.
SPEAKER_01Uh the fight continues. Buffy and the robot are by a swing set now. Uh-oh. Something just crashed upstairs. That's not good. April ends up with a hand around Buffy's throat. She could crush her uh larynx. Buffy gasps for breath and kicks, but her feet are off the ground. She accuses Buffy of taking her man and then looks puzzled. With her hand is still around Buffy's throat. She's having trouble closing it, and she starts talking awkwardly. Or I think that's what that word is supposed to be. And Buffy steps back, disengaging her throat from April's hand. April looks helplessly at her empty hand and she looks around for Warren. Like a lost puppy, April asks where Warren went. And then sometime later, Buffy and April sit on the swings, and April's just weaker. She leans against her swings chain and Buffy asks if she can cry. That crying can help. And April tells her that crying is blackmail and good girlfriends don't cry. April says she did everything right and now doesn't know what to do. She says it's getting dark, but it's daylight out. So you'd allegedly that she's just losing power. Buffy tells her that Warren was coming back, that she will help him find April in the dark. April stops moving and her eyes are still open, her expression the same. Um, and then we just realize she's not gonna move again. So at the Commons that night, Buffy watches as Xander finishes constructing a jam. He fix he's fixing like the broken window and he's explaining more construction stuff. Um, they talk about April. Buffy says she was devoted and did everything, but when he didn't love her back, she had no reason to go on. Um she relates Amy to her own. Oh, April, sorry. I was like, when I don't remember Amy. She relates April to her own bad love life, saying that she I was tired when I was finishing these notes.
SPEAKER_03I'm sorry. I was like, but you got the end of these notes.
SPEAKER_01Um she says that she has all this power, but still no one. And Xander stops fussing with the window and looks at Buffy concerned. Xander says she is acting like she'll never find someone again, that there are a lot of guys out there. But she's only 20. Yeah, for real. Buffy says that she doesn't need a guy right now, that if one comes along, fine, but she's going to be comfortable with just herself. Xander tells her that from personal experience, Buffy is a good person to be alone with. Buffy pulls out the paper with Ben's number on it, and later at the payphone there, Buffy is leaving a voicemail for Ben.
SPEAKER_03If you don't know what the payphone is, sorry.
SPEAKER_01She tells him that now isn't a good time for coffee.
SPEAKER_03So at the same time in Glory's apartment, you hear the voicemail being played on the machine while Gloria and her minions listen. She looks confused as fuck. Uh Jinx tells her it sounds like Ben tried to date the slayer. Glory laughs um at that, but tells Jinx that Ben must be planning something. And then in a more quiet voice, was like, Did uh but did she really turn them down? Um in Warren's house. Warren is packing. Um, he's talking. Um he's talking into the phone, begging for someone, probably Katrina, to give him another chance. Um he hangs up, turns to face Spike, who is standing there with a cardboard box filled with buffy paraphernalia.
SPEAKER_01How did Spike get in there?
SPEAKER_03Well, he just jumped. Warren jumps and asks to see how he walked he got in.
SPEAKER_02Spike tells him his mother let him in.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_02He was putting in an order.
SPEAKER_01I swear I watched this episode.
SPEAKER_02I was like, give me two seconds, I'll let you know.
SPEAKER_03He then puts the uh box of Buffy stuff in his hand. Warren says he isn't making any more girls, but Bike shoves the box at the box at him and says, He will make her and good. Um, Warren looks and sees the picture of Buffy, and that's the end. Oh god. Buffy butt's a very fun experience. So my thoughts on Xander this episode. I don't know, I feel like this is a writer's issue more than a the character issue for me, is the fact that okay, this is weirdly has a lot of Xander in it, like focused more on Xander than usual for an episode that's not about him. And he has a lot of good like scenes where he's like saying some like wise or not wise stuff, but you know, like you know, good stuff, like good friend stuff, and having all these moments, and like you know, he's getting into the construction, so you can tell he's like growing and maturing, but I swear they triple down on his weird sleaaziness on in this episode for some reason. It's like they couldn't help to counteract his maturity with all this weird stuff, and I was just like, I'm not sure if it's a character thing or if it was a writer's issue.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I didn't really notice anything different.
SPEAKER_03Well, I didn't put on all the notes, like everything he says, but he has a lot of sleazy, weird, off-handed comments throughout the episode, and I was like, it was weird because they were also trying to show at the same time that he was maturing and he was growing into himself, and it was just a very like they tripled down on it. Like, I can understand one, maybe two jokes in this episode where he makes it, especially about robot, sex robot. But it was just like they really notice. I know he was only supposed to be like 20, so it's about on the There's at least one or two comments about Buffy in here, and there's several about April, and all in front of Anya, by the way. And it was just weird. I was just like, and it the way it seemed, it just seemed so unnatural for the character. Like, I feel like you're gonna be one or the other, you're not gonna be both to that extreme on both sides. And of that's why I said I had a lot of thoughts about it. I didn't know if it was a writer's issue, like season six spike where half the writer's room wanted him to be Gospaffy, the other half the writer's room didn't. So his storyline gets really wonky because they're trying like they're both trying to like have both.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. Like I don't know, I didn't really notice anything, so I can't really add anything to it. I do know Xander's supposed to be very young, so he might be maturing, but he's still a boy, a young boy.
SPEAKER_03No, I under again I said I I think that having one or two comments in there makes sense to me for Xander. It was a lot of comments in this episode and a lot of weird things in front of Anya that I thought was weird, and I was like, okay. I was just like, it was just it was like having two extremes for him in one episode.
SPEAKER_01And I feel like I have to go back and watch this again.
SPEAKER_03I guess because I usually defend Xander, I have to watch what he does so that I can defend him properly. But I feel like for half this episode I couldn't defend him, even though he really was like he had a lot of good moments in this episode. And that's why I said it wasn't a Xander centric episode, but it felt like he had a lot of moments more than Willa, more than anybody else. Like, you know, he got more of a spotlight. I don't know why, but I just thought it was okay. It was weird.
SPEAKER_01You feel how you feel. You I don't know. Um how did you feel about the uh the episode cheesiness? Because I'd give it like a straight up nine. I'd probably give it a few.
SPEAKER_03I said eight. I mean, I'm okay. Cheesy. And well, it's cheesy, but I also thought, you know, we're trying to like I kind of felt bad for April. Like towards the end of the episode and stuff like that, especially. I was like, I kind of felt bad for her the entire episode. I kind of lost the cheesiness for me. Um, because it was kind of serious in a way where he she's like legit lost. She's like, this is what I was this is all I'm here for. And Warren's just like and it's one of those things um that when you first watch this episode, and you're like you're what if you're watching this show in order that you don't pick up on a lot of the comments that Warren makes until you've watched the show as a whole and go back to it. We're like, okay, that really shows you his character in then like the future. Because it's something that like some comments that he makes that are just so like they don't really they don't have too much meaning, but if you really take it in the context of what he does in the future, you're like, oh, that makes sense. I don't know, like how he describes April or how he describes Katrina or how he like describes women in general. Um like again, they are very innocent in this episode until you bring into context the future episode.
SPEAKER_01Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_03I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I don't know either. I'm can't watch these episodes. I haven't seen them, so you're just saying this, so I'm like, yeah, okay, sure.
SPEAKER_03Because I have watched episodes, okay?
SPEAKER_01I'm basically a person that's never seen this.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so this will be out after we do this, but tomorrow we are meeting James Marsters again at the Philly Convention. So excited. Um, and well, I am meeting James Marsters again. She did not get she did not get, I don't think the autographs aren't that bad, but anyway. Um and then I think we're both meeting Orlando Bloom. Yeah, I'm getting a picture with them. And then I got something for Colin O'Donohue because oh my god, captain.
SPEAKER_01I told Amanda how much like the tickets are like how much you had to pay, and then on top of that, how much you have to pay to get a picture or autograph. She was like, What? You have to pay to like see these people, and I'm like, Yeah, this is how they make money. She's like, No wonder they do it. I'm like, Yeah, she's like, but that's ridiculous that you have to pay for like a picture or an autograph.
SPEAKER_03She was like totally scoffing at it, and I'm like, I'm pretty sure this is how some like actors and voice actors and stuff like that get money now. This is their income.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she was like, No wonder they do it. I'm like, Yeah, I mean it's yeah, I would probably do it too if that was in their shoes, but it is. I do think that like some of them are a little overpriced with some of them are expensive. Oh no, it depends on the just a picture with Orlando Bloom was like almost $200.
SPEAKER_03It's expensive, but for Orlando it makes somewhat more sense. He's like the big person at that event this year.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um like out of all the actors that are gonna be there, he's the top dog there. Yeah, he's gonna be the one that that's gonna have a line wrapped around forever. Oh god. I'm glad I'm in like the first group at 12 o'clock that's to go. I know. I'm like, oh thank God. And we need it, we should and I I'm annoyed by that because there's an 11 o'clock uh supernatural not supernatural. There's an 11 o'clock James Mark. Is doing on the panel. But I'm pretty sure we need to be in line if we want to actually get through that. I don't know. I don't know. And we're all getting photo ops with Orlando. So it's like not one of us can stay back and see what's going on first.
SPEAKER_01It's fine. Alright, let's wrap this Mama Jamma up. Alright, so that's all for this week.
SPEAKER_03See ya next week. Bye. Wait, hold on. Oh wait. Did I miss a whole part? Oh my god, I missed the part of this episode. What what part?
SPEAKER_01The last scene? What was the last scene?
SPEAKER_03I'm sorry, I was so tired when I when I wrote these episodes.
SPEAKER_01Wasn't it a spike with Warren? No. What was the last scene? It builds into the next episode.
SPEAKER_03Oh. You know what? I'm gonna skip it because they legit redo it for the beginning of the next episode. So it's okay. Um, but if you know what the next episode's gonna be, then you'll appreciate the fact that we're skipping. Yeah, I kind of hate how they did that, but I think because they wanted you to be anticipate the next episode kind of thing. It's one of those things they did back then when no one had to wait to do. You had to wait a whole week before you watch the next episode. Yeah. Alright. So, yes, I apologize for that end episode if people are screaming at me for having not finished that. I apologize. That was my bad. I was just I it just came into my brain. Alright, let's wrap this up. Alright. Bye. Bye.
