Nobody told me it was going to cost this much. Not the hours, not the money, the amount of stuff I would have to do, the stuff that they didn't tell you all through seminary and all through the assessments. Nobody told me it was gonna be this difficult. I planted a church in Baltimore City while my kidneys were failing. I merged congregations. I coached pastors through things that I had barely survived myself. And somewhere in the middle of all of that stuff, I looked around and realized nobody was checking on the people that were doing that kind of work. We were figuring it all out by ourselves. I'm Charlie Mitchell. I'm a teaching pastor at a local church. I'm an urban church planter, and I'm the founder of the Maroon House, A national ministry collective built for the leaders who were doing things that nobody thought possible, that is planting churches, making disciples in some of the most difficult communities around the country. This is the Urban Pastor Podcast. This show is for the pastors and the ministry leaders who are still showing up on Sundays, but running on E by Tuesday. For the church planner, who believed the vision but didn't know it was going to cost him pretty much his life for the ministry leader who was doing good work in the hard places and wondering how much longer they can keep this going. We're gonna talk about soul care. We gonna talk about church planting. We gonna talk about what it means to lead in cities. We gonna talk about all the things that intersect, that faith and culture and life and leadership, and the real cost of doing ministry in difficult and tough places. We're gonna do all of that without flinch. I'm 20 something. Years into this game, across more than 20 cities. We are having influence and an impact. I have seen what breaks leaders down, and I've seen what keeps them whole. And that is what this podcast is all about. Every podcast episode we're going to drop on be maroon.com so you can check out the transcripts and the episodes there. But man, I look forward to rolling together. Peace. I.
