IN THE NOW: The Extroverted Sensing Brain (ESTP, ESFP, ISTP, ISFP)

This is the first of 8 episodes covering different “Perceiving” and “Judging” (or decision-making) cognitive functions as observed by Carl Jung. These differences have a significant impact on our personality and how we operate in the world Episode 1 in the series explores the “Here and Now” perceiving function of Sensing in the extroverted (or outward) orientation. Follow along with the exercises to get the most out of the episode.

Exercise 1: Extroverted Sensing
Take an apple and use all five senses to observe the apple.
Right down as many concrete details as possible.
Exercise 2: Sign you name
Start with your dominant hand and sign your name.
Switch to your non-dominant hand and sign your name.
What did you notice?
- How does the signature visually compare? Which looks more mature?
- How much did you have to think about how to hold the pen?
- How quickly or slowly did you sign your name?
- How did it feel to use your preferred hand versus your non-preferred hand?
