Meeting The Havoc Boat Customers

Speaker 1

It's five o'clock and you're off the clock with B Scott. Now today we're excited to have as our guests Tyler Duvall and Carson Gitchell. Now what's cool is Tyler called me on one of our podcast videos and said hey, I want to be on and we're like you know what, let's do it. You know so backstory on these guys. They're both Havoc Boats customers, so we thought it'd be cool to bring them in and just talk boats, whatever these guys do with their boats. And we got Shockley Dad, daryl Jake. We're just going to sit down and have a good discussion and see where it goes, but before we get into it, make sure you leave a like, subscribe and hit the bell for notifications.

Speaker 2

Now let's dive in. It's a good day, Good day today we got some friends here off social media.

Speaker 3

You're talking boats.

Speaker 2

I seen your comment on there and I was like hell, let's get you in there. But, I didn't know if we didn't have a beef or not.

Speaker 1

I think I got an argument with this guy, but it would be cool, though it wasn't me man.

Speaker 4

If you don't know, somebody it's a pretty good possibility. One of us is dumping into it with somebody.

Speaker 2

Somebody knows somebody, I guarantee you. You got my phone number in your phone. Have you talked?

Speaker 3

You called me the other day, but I ain't got it now.

Speaker 2

Here. Why don't you go ahead and text me? I want to see if I got history on you.

Speaker 3

Well, you text me 731.

Speaker 2

Hold on now. Hold on now, but yeah, this is going to be funny. What is it? 731. 731. 413-413.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I'm sure he doesn't want to tell you.

Speaker 5

Are we?

Speaker 2

recording already. Yeah, we're recording.

Speaker 3

Y'all call me, I don't care. Hey, you know what. There it is.

Speaker 2

Yeah, there ain't no history.

Speaker 3

Wow, I thought we'd have some history there.

Speaker 1

No, man. And now they got your phone number. I mean any chicks you particularly like.

Speaker 3

I mean, what's your style?

Speaker 2

well, I mean, uh, you had a havoc boat for four or five years. Yes, sir, yes, I've had one since 20, so we're in 25 now, yeah, that's awesome, man, both of you guys you know.

Speaker 1

So what do y'all do? Mostly y'all do fishing, hunting, y'all just ride the rivers. What y'all do with them?

Speaker 3

man, anything you do have a boat I'll do out of it. He's more of the hunting side, I'm more of the fishing right around drinking beer side yeah, the hanging out, yeah, running lines running nets, bank poles, crappie fishing if you can do it out of a boat, I'll join in yeah, so what do you think about this podcast, man?

Speaker 2

I mean, man, I'm here for it I'm excited.

Speaker 3

Yeah, I'm excited. Man, I'm glad y'all let me come down here. Uh, I mean I wasn't gonna miss it. Like I told uh the fella up there the other day, I said, unless I ain't on the world, no more, I'm going to be down here Friday.

Speaker 2

I hear you, so we're here.

Speaker 1

You know it's cool too, because I can see you calling me and it's like dude, you bringing me Right.

Speaker 3

There's no reason not to. That's right, you know.

Speaker 2

I didn't know if nobody was going to. That's one thing about having both. We appreciate all of our customers and everything, and we need to do more podcasts with our customers. I think it's cool because we're always involved with everybody. It seems like I mean, I know you guys watch me on the internet all the time. Oh yeah, Ditching out my information. Oh yeah, Trying to get people to call me. They won't call me.

Speaker 3

I'm saying something to call me.

Speaker 2

They're scared, they scared, but some people do call me. Though. Some people do call me, I was like shit. He called me Check.

Speaker 4

Mark, they do Check, mark.

Speaker 2

Yeah, yeah. So you guys fish and hunt and use your boats.

Speaker 3

That's awesome, that's cool, oh for sure.

Speaker 2

So we was talking before the podcast. You talked about a. You had an RDBST right, yes sir, and you had an RDBST right, yes sir, and you said what it scared the shit out of you.

Speaker 3

It did it? Did man? I had that boat, I got it. It had a box-kicking jack on it. Of course you know it was set up good, it run good, you know, straight off the trailer, boom, it was good. Well, I run it around for probably two or three to you. I got beside myself. I got on that liquid encouragement. Like I said, I done had it up in there a few times. Like I said, I'm big man, I ain't used to sitting in a pretty much shoebox doing this. Yeah, man, I got out there in the middle of that river and I was tore up as a skunk and man, I got it up there and I guess a little ripple in the water and then just me not really being all there, that joker wanted to kind of start doing this and of course you know I couldn't. 12-volt trim ain't going to go down real fast.

Speaker 4

Right, yeah, it was low. I love that ripple in that water.

Speaker 3

Yeah, so, man, I hit that trim and I started coming down with it and know, like I said, you know I was I was sauced up and I got on that trail and I and I don't know what, I did, man, I guess I thought I was gonna turn out of it or I don't know what I was doing. I don't man. I got down that thing and when it did, it caught and done that right there. When it did, my big self went right out of sight of it and it's out

Boat Flipping Stories & Swimming Out

Speaker 3

there just going in the river floating away and I said oh, oh shit. I went from sauced up to get back in this boat?

Speaker 2

Did you get back in the boat?

Speaker 3

I did. This is a funny story too. Now he can vouch for me. Anybody see me swim outside the back of that boat. They know it's a funny story. I got to ride my trim up. I got to ride my motor up. You can't get in there, no man. If I'm in neck deep water I can't pull my big cf up.

Speaker 5

Just these two little spaghetti arms I got and, uh man, I got.

Speaker 3

I got over and of course the boat was going faster than I could go you know down, so I was over swimming. I got to the front of it, got to the back of it, I got it you know kind of, you know knocked down a little bit and I sat there for a few minutes and I thought, damn, I cannot swim this boat to the bank, so I've got to get in it. So that's when I realized, hey, I can't pull myself up in this boat, man, I flipped, I wrench up, flipped that seat open, grabbed the seat, went to go up in it. It didn't do nothing. Water, you know started kind of trying my foot on the prop, got that side button on my motor, throw my leg around that thing and Wait, wait, wait.

Speaker 6

So you just rode it up. I rode my trim up, man, like a lift, yes sir, like a big lift.

Speaker 3

Yes sir, I mean, you know it was a sight for sore eyes for sure, they seen yes sir. I mean you know it was a sight for sore eyes. For sure they see me do it, they see me do it.

Speaker 6

Is there video proof of this?

Speaker 3

No none of that incident, but it's a sight to see man.

Speaker 2

Next time it happens, I'll video it and I'll tag you on it.

Speaker 3

Yeah, do that. Do that? That'd be a funny story.

Speaker 2

Yeah, that RDB don't like all that weight in the back. 3-8. 3-8.

Speaker 3

That's awesome man.

Speaker 2

I need to get some of it off You're getting it done, man, what you need is a new Mach 1. Right, that's what you need the 6-6. And I heard you like big girls too.

Speaker 3

I like them all. Man, you like big girls, I love them all.

Speaker 2

That's all right, that Mach 1 can handle it all. That's right platform. It'll give you a little more stability, you know what I'm saying? And it'll still haul ass.

Speaker 1

It'll hold shot better too. It's real stable.

Speaker 2

And we can look into getting maybe options for ladders and shit.

Speaker 3

Right, that's what I need. Obviously, that's exactly what he needs. Me and him was talking about this the other day. We need a ladder when you're slinging over the back of your boat.

Speaker 2

You do, man. I never thought about that.

Speaker 4

Best thing is to do is just stay in the boat. Don't get thrown out.

Speaker 6

That is true, that's right, it's a lot simpler In a perfect world, that's what you do.

Speaker 1

probably that's hilarious.

Speaker 2

I think it's funny that you thought on the fly to put your foot on the thing and let the motor pick you up.

Speaker 1

I mean, it is smart.

Speaker 5

I don't think I would have thought of that one.

Speaker 6

It's not easy and sober, that's definitely a drunk idea.

Speaker 3

I still got to do it. Man, I got good at it.

Speaker 1

Dude, that's hilarious, but yeah that Mach 1, that was definitely what you need. I mean, we ran it, tested them and it's like the whole shot's there of a 56, stable handles really well but still hauls ass.

Speaker 4

Right. We're actually thinking about just stop making every other mod and just make Mach 1s.

Speaker 2

You mean Mach 1s, not really, I mean Shockley loves them, I mean Shockley's a big Mach 1 fan.

Speaker 6

I think that's the only boat Shockley thinks we have now. No, we got.

Speaker 2

Mach 40s, yeah, mach 40s are badass, rd-bsts are. You know they're badass in the timber, but you know there's a special place for a Mach 1. We built that Mach 1, what? Five, six years ago.

Speaker 1

Yeah.

Speaker 2

As soon as we ran, we're like holy shit, we're going to put this away. It was that good of a boat, you know back then and today you know it. Just, you know timber hunting. It's a little wide but you're still getting there depending on where you're. You know, you're hunting, you know, but a lot of guys run 17-56 MSCCs all the time. So it's pretty much the same platform, right, just got the performance stuff on it. It's a sweet-ass boat, man. So are you thinking about trading in or what you thinking about? Man, I can't trade in. I owe them a boat.

Speaker 2

You owe them your boat. Yeah Well, everybody owes everything, that's right.

Speaker 3

Just owe them something else, you know, that's right, brother, it's the American way, man. Man, I'm torn, man. I like a 15-foot boat because it's easy to handle by yourself. Yeah, I mean, it's easy, I can go in, unless you've got to climb in it.

Speaker 2

Yeah, for sure, for sure.

Speaker 5

The actual length is a little nice, you can dip those corner brackets in the water.

Speaker 3

That's right.

Speaker 2

380 pounds on the steps. My it is. It is Especially somebody like me.

Speaker 3

You know you can put four or five people in there and go fishing for the day, and you ain't got no trouble.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Speaker 3

Man. By the time I put two canopies, four or five lawn chairs, a cooler, two coolers me, another person or four other people, my boat looks like a clampage road show going across the river.

Speaker 5

I mean it does.

The Perfect Boat for Every Customer

Speaker 3

You know you get to going a little bit too fast. You're like hold on, let me turn around and pick this stuff back up out of the water.

Speaker 2

I'm like all right.

Speaker 3

I'm going to haul everything over here. Y'all just sit here. I'll be back to get y'all in a minute.

Speaker 6

I think you need a little bigger boat.

Speaker 4

You definitely need a bigger boat, but I mean, that's all I've had those 15-foot boats, yeah, yeah though, what motor do you run, tots of 60.? Four-stroke. That'd be plenty, but I might want one.

Speaker 3

Yeah, I've had that on all three of my boats.

Speaker 2

Yeah, With a strong trim. He's like shit fire. I was just coming up here for a podcast. You guys trying to get me to buy me a boat. Jake, you're selling the shit out of them, aren't you? Yeah, we can't make enough of them.

Speaker 5

Yeah, I feel like that's like Shockley said. You know that's all we've made for the past two, three weeks now.

Speaker 1

A ton of them.

Speaker 5

Yeah, I've got to plan another run in mid-July because we oversold. It's a good problem to have, though it is a great problem to have. I cannot complain, we cannot complain.

Speaker 1

We cannot complain, especially like the sandbars, and I mean like as far as the sandbar boat goes.

Speaker 3

I mean you got the room like you said to haul stuff in right, but you still have the ability to empty it out and race it. Yeah, you got to. You got to ask behind you to get them go yeah, you know if you want to go, you can go. If not, you can put around and do what you do with a regular, you know db.

Speaker 4

Yeah, yeah, yeah I talked to Tim the other day about Havoc makes so many different models of boats. I named what four.

Speaker 6

Yeah.

Speaker 4

I named four different models. I said we can cancel everything else and Havoc will stay afloat.

Speaker 3

Oh, I love it.

Speaker 2

For sure. You know every model. Havoc does have a lot of different models, but it's all for the extreme situations, you know. You know a lot of people are just going to sandbars now. I mean, times are changing. Got a big one tomorrow, you know. And yeah, I got the Arkansas Tealery one tomorrow. So that's an awesome event and I know Matt's going to do a good job with it. But there's going to be a lot of Havocs out there.

Speaker 3

You know it's going to be a good time. We got invited to go, but I don't think we're going to. Where are we going? Savannah or Clifton, Savannah?

Speaker 2

Yeah, we're going to Savannah tomorrow we're going to run from Savannah to Clifton. So what you got? So you're going where now? Savannah Tennessee.

Speaker 5

Okay, there's supposed to be a little ride up there.

Speaker 2

What's it called the ride? It's just a ride.

Speaker 4

I mean, I think it's kind of kind of with them, but we're going to one.

Speaker 3

I think in uh, I think it was july the water cowboys deal in nashville. Yeah, we're gonna try to go that one. Are you gonna be off? Yeah, I'll be off. All right, we'll go to that that's.

Speaker 4

That's the same weekend as reaper fest, so we need to, everybody needs to go to that, right? Yeah, I definitely ain't going back.

Speaker 5

I've heard that one up there.

Speaker 4

I've heard that one's a party.

Speaker 5

I've heard that one's a party.

Speaker 1

I've heard that's a. I bet it's going to be. That's a real deal to go to up there.

Speaker 5

Yeah, I just got off the phone with the guy 30 minutes ago and they're going to have a big turnout. They've got a lot of sponsors, including us now.

Speaker 4

And it's for St Jude, I think.

Speaker 5

Yeah it all goes to donation for St Jude.

Speaker 4

It's going to. That's awesome. August 16th yeah, we had a race at Caddo Lake that same weekend and I talked to Noah and talked to him at Rowdy Creek and talked to him into changing the dates. That way everybody ain't split ways.

Speaker 1

Yeah, that's worse when it's like that, when you've got these big events and everybody's having to go different directions. Yeah, so we just move dates.

Speaker 2

All the events are growing too like crazy. Like every year there's more and more of them. Like if lights came away for the summer.

Speaker 3

You know it's awesome that's what I live for. Yeah, I live for the summer, oh yeah, you know back in day we shot the flotillas.

Speaker 6

Y'all remember the flotillas. I'm 25, I do. You should remember. Oh, we're not that old man.

Speaker 2

Yeah, flotillas ain't that old I remember there's one or two, I don't remember I mean the flotillas everybody remember the flotillas, I mean the Flo Tills. Everybody remembers the Flo Tills. There's a few that are harder you know, gosh, damn it, am I the oldest one here?

Speaker 6

Oh yeah, you're by far the oldest, by far, not by much.

Speaker 1

He looks like he'd be older than he is Solid, white, 21 years old.

Speaker 4

Hey, he sent me a damn selfie the other day. You know that's how much he's beard.

Speaker 2

I mean you're bald man. I didn't know you was bald Bald.

Speaker 4

You're bald. Oh yeah, whitney, cut all my hair off. No, I think you're bald bald. You got a bald spot, man everybody's been saying that, but I think it's the way the sun hits it. You know what it is. Let me see it. Take your hat off. Take your hat off.

Speaker 3

Take your hat off. Yeah, take it off.

Speaker 6

Take your hat off. I think you're bald man. Oh hey, it's thin. It's definitely thin. It's time to let it go.

Speaker 2

It was definitely this sun, because I thought that sun was going to smooth the baby's ass you.

Speaker 6

My chest is.

Speaker 2

No that's terrible. I feel, like you shave your chest. I do. I don't know why I did. It shows his man boobs better when you shave your chest All I've seen was man tits.

Speaker 1

I could get it if you had an eight pack, why would you?

Speaker 2

shave your chest and you have man tits like that.

Speaker 6

I worked with a dude that did that. He said it's the worst decision he ever made what?

Speaker 2

shaving his chest, yeah that it's the worst decision he ever made.

Speaker 5

What shaving his chest, yeah. What an itch yeah. Oh man, his girlfriend made him do it. Remember that contractor.

Speaker 1

We had One of the workers there. He had both his nipples pierced and he would work in Sherwoods and everything.

Speaker 4

Didn't Tim have his nipples pierced?

Speaker 2

No, I did not.

Speaker 4

I think he did. Who was that? Somebody did it at a boat to do? Never mind, I was at a boat. I was at street outlaws. Somebody I worked with at street outlaws what are you? He pierced his knee. Who are you?

Speaker 2

hanging out with yeah, what are you?

Speaker 6

He's definitely in that crowd. He's in that crowd. He's in that crowd.

Speaker 3

No, I don't got my nipples pierced.

Speaker 2

Y'all got any tattoos or nothing.

Speaker 3

Yeah, I got that one no, no tattoos.

Speaker 2

Reek and Havoc no tattoos. Reek and Havoc tattoos.

Speaker 1

No, oh man, if you got a bonus prize, you'd have one.

Speaker 2

I'm scared of needles man I hear you, I am too, I'm scared to death.

Speaker 6

That ain't that bad. So we talked about the social media stuff, you know.

Speaker 2

So what? The Havoc Boat fan page. What page was?

Speaker 3

it. Man, we've talked a few comments back and forth to each other on the Havoc Facebook page and then we got to mention back and forth on Messenger a few times and that's it really.

Speaker 2

Oh yeah, I've seen that shit.

Speaker 4

He said that kind of like I might have had altercations before. Yeah, he thought I was a bad guy.

Speaker 3

I thought that too, boy, it's so funny. I feel hated.

Speaker 2

No, no, no, you got. Hey, you have to remember, man, like we got a lot of haters on there Right, that don't even know us.

Speaker 4

You know what's that Brandon boy's name that's always hating, or Justin Farmer, all the time, all the time we need to get both of on there.

Speaker 1

But the haters get to a class where they're like just they hate, no matter what it is, they're just like, yeah, they're put in that class. Like, no matter what it is, if it's from us or something we're doing, they're in there hating yeah, they're hating on something we post like a have it Say, have it boat.

Speaker 3

They're hating on it because it's on is bad. I think I'm starting to get so numb to it now. You got to tell them zip it up when they're done with it, man, if you ain't got haters, you ain't done something right.

Speaker 2

Why is people like that on social media? Because I guarantee all these haters we invite them here, they won't come no.

Speaker 1

Yeah, because that brings it to a point. You know what I? I think.

Speaker 4

Justin would. I think Farmer would come.

Speaker 2

I wish he would, because sometimes he hastens and sometimes he's like.

Speaker 4

He says some of the stupid shit on the internet.

Speaker 1

He's hard to read. He's like a sentimental hater. I wish he would come. I want to meet that guy in person.

Speaker 4

I think he'd be all right if him and Kent would break up. I think he's a Kent Foreman boyfriend.

Speaker 2

I think I don't know those guys. You got all the fan club guys.

Speaker 1

They're all just like oh whatever. There's no difference between Dodge and Ford. The only thing they do professionally is talk shit. I'm in that category. Yeah, you are. You're a good shit talker, for sure.

Speaker 2

You're definitely one of the best. Yeah, I try. It's amazing to me, though, that Daryl stays as calm as you do.

Speaker 4

Oh, it's amazing to me, though, that Daryl stays calm as you do.

Speaker 2

They say some shit, man is that crazy or what?

Speaker 4

yeah, whenever him and B Scott made a post not too long ago with some of the comments they were just laughing like it would piss people off. Like you know what I mean some people would get mad about it look at this shit, look what this guy said.

Speaker 6

I'll be black for it.

Speaker 5

I don this shit look what this guy?

Speaker 6

said, you guys ever get arguments on the internet oh, yeah, yeah well more times than not he don't really, he don't do the internet stuff usually I feel like if I get an argument, it'll just end up hurting me more than them.

Social Media Trolls & Call Me Culture

Speaker 1

Oh yeah, nobody's paying attention as soon as I say something crazy, I'll be like they'll send it to every company that we work with. Yeah, like, look at, this guy said to me you know, they won't see all the stuff they said yeah, they'll definitely take a snippet of the little bit of like shit.

Speaker 6

You talk yeah, internet make you be a bad guy when you ain't really one but you know, a lot of people shockingly knows you can see him at the boat ramp. You walk up to him. Hey, what was that you said on there? Oh, no man, I was just yeah it was just a joke.

Speaker 4

That'll happen tomorrow.

Speaker 2

Watch, yeah oh yeah, it is. You know, um, it's amazing what these people say about people that they don't even meet them, they don't even know who they are. It's, it's insane, it's crazy. I used to get all worked up about it. He said used to, I used to.

Speaker 4

I mean.

Speaker 6

I still get a little worked up.

Speaker 1

Look man, it's not past tense, it's real current issue.

Speaker 2

I think my problem is is I understand shit talking is a way to do it nowadays. I just they're just dumb, I mean there's dumb shit talkers out there, like, if you're going to shit talk, at least say something educational, say something that's maybe may or may not be right.

Speaker 1

And then I come in and I'm like listen, there's a thing called just trolling. Right, that's a thing Searching for lies, they're just doing this just to be in the spotlight for a second, just to piss you off.

Speaker 2

Who in the world becomes a live?

Speaker 4

I don't know do you not have more important shit to do like cut the grass, you know what I'm saying I think it's amazing, but it's like like the, the trollers, as we say, they're so fast, like the minute you post something they're there like damn I just they're waiting on it they've been waiting to his moment they're

Speaker 2

like well we're bored.

Speaker 3

Let's see who we can talk shit to today, and they're like oh, there's one, then there they. Let's see who we can talk shit to today, and they're like oh, there's one and there they go, and I do that too.

Speaker 4

I wake up sometimes like man. I better make a post and just get somebody to start. Just start something, that's right.

Speaker 1

Really, whatever that trade is dude, my mother's day, my mother's day post to Kent.

Speaker 3

I just woke up, shit, oh yeah.

Speaker 4

What the Everybody's pro or something. People do it to you and they know how to push your buttons.

Speaker 1

Oh they do. I think it's going to piss Tim off and you can 100% guarantee you're going to get his phone number. He's going to publicly tell you to call him.

Speaker 6

Oh yeah, call me right now, call me right now.

Speaker 2

Call me right now. Call me right now. Call me right now, but I'm waiting on it. If they don't call me, I'll put it on the post, because I'm still waiting on your call, because I want everybody to see it.

Speaker 4

I'm actually waiting on this call and then when they call it like oh shit, oh shit, no, I don't sometimes I get all right.

Speaker 2

No, no, no. So sometimes I get fired up. I mean, sometimes you know, my wife comes out there she'll. You want another glass of whiskey first?

Speaker 4

I'll be like, yeah, give me another one, I'm ready and nine times out of ten, it ends up in a good phone call like oh, it does.

Speaker 2

A lot of my, a lot of my best friends in the industry came uh, it's from shit talking. Because a lot of them don't know who we are Like. This is a family-owned business. Like my son works here. My closest friends, my wife a lot of people don't know that. A lot of people don't know that. They think we're just a bunch of corporate people flying around in jets and shit. No man, we got four-wheel drive trucks. We eat fucking steak and potatoes like everybody else, and we like to have a good time.

Speaker 4

But you know me and Shockley we drive businesses. We should be in a jet.

Speaker 2

The private jet is nice, isn't it? You know, shockley and I was the same way. You know, he drove another boat, brand, and we got together, and you know he's one of my best friends too. So he drove another boat, brandon. We got together, and he's one of my best friends too. So there's a lot of good comes out of this, so that's why we wanted you guys here too.

Speaker 1

I really didn't know, I couldn't remember, Nah, man, I was like man. I want to say maybe I asked everybody.

Speaker 2

I'm like dude didn't mean this kind of talk shit back in the day.

Speaker 6

I was like dude, dude, this is gonna be awesome. You know who the best trailer might be? Who? I bet? Grayson would be a great grace. He'll be magical. I bet he'd be one of those people yeah, he probably would be.

Speaker 2

He is a good shit talker. He pisses me off, but it's on purpose, it's like literally he just strategizes over he just keeps all my latches open on my deck lids and I think he knows when he gets in the Tim boat for the day that that's his job. All right, so let's explain to these guys who he is. He's one of our camera guys and he's a young guy, so yesterday he sat there and he took one of my worms that I'm using.

Speaker 1

Like plastic worms.

Speaker 2

He cut it in like quarter-inch pieces and just threw them in random places in my boat. And I'm like he. And just threw them in random places in my boat. And I'm like he kept doing it too. Why is there random pieces of worms all over my boat? And he's over there giggling and shit. I'm like you, son of a bitch, pick that shit up. This ain't your bedroom.

Speaker 1

You know He'll clutter up your boat in a heartbeat. So hunting and fishing, y'all. Do any target hunting this year.

Speaker 3

No, y'all don't turkey hunt. No, I don't Never kill one. I'd like to, but it ain't happened yet.

Speaker 2

Well, darrell, don't get lessons from Darrell, he's not here for three weeks now.

Speaker 1

He's a little slow too.

Speaker 2

I turkey hunt and something fun, isn't it?

Speaker 6

I know I did kill two, though, so it's all that matters, yeah.

Speaker 5

Population that's right, took you about 450 hours, yeah, 450 work hours, six states, a thousand miles.

Speaker 2

I could have texted b scott like, hey, uh, when's daryl getting back? I don't know.

Speaker 1

He killed nothing yet I'm like at this point he can't come back. You know like he's got to stay out there. It's like, as I was in too deep.

Speaker 6

Yeah, exactly, it's in too deep. So how long was your trip down here? It's like I was in too deep.

Speaker 2

Yeah, exactly, I was in too deep, so how long was your trip?

Speaker 3

down here Five hours.

Speaker 2

That ain't too bad.

Speaker 3

Not too bad.

Speaker 2

It's not bad at all. So when you walked through the boat planet first, did you expect to see what you seen? Not really. What did you think? It was Not really Like a damn backyard garage or something.

Speaker 3

No, no, I was expecting a lot of high-tech fancy. You know, just Robots.

Speaker 2

No See, a lot of people are opposite of that A lot of people just think it's like a little shop. That's kind of odd.

Speaker 3

Do you think it's a Well, we rolled by here yesterday. We rolled by here yesterday, oh so you?

Speaker 2

prejudged it by the buildings.

Speaker 3

Yeah, we come by and we're like, yeah, this is hometown, right here.

Speaker 2

This ain't uh, this ain't you know, yeah, we ain't got robots building. Oh, no, no, no man, we don't work in skyscraper cities that's right, no no, no, that's right, these are pine tree log trucks and you know, right, that's right but uh a lot of people that, like you were saying, a lot of people think it's like they under estimate, estimate what it what it actually is.

Speaker 1

Like they're thinking wow, oh wow yeah. I've got four buildings here.

Speaker 3

Well, I mean to somebody that's never seen this or, you know, talked to none of y'all, or something like that you know they're like ah you know, I don't know, you know, I don't know what's to say. They do the stuff that they say.

Speaker 2

You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3

Yeah, opportunity for anybody.

Speaker 2

It's a good atmosphere too. I don't like walking to dealerships or manufacturers that looks like a corporate. Our place is super clean and we're professional, but we still have a good time. I think a lot of people go too professional with it. Wears too suit wearing. I got swimming shorts on and shit. We have a good time. A lot of people. They overdo it, man, they overdo it and they make customers feel uncomfortable. You guys are our customers. You guys are pretty comfortable.

Speaker 3

I feel like I'm sitting in my living room. That's right. That's what I'm talking about. I've been hanging out here since 8 o'clock. We were stuck in Louisiana we were on the way, we weren't complaining, we were walking around talking to everybody.

Speaker 6

How many hats did you take? I ain't got none yet, man, I got a big ass head. I don't know. We got one for you, the.

Speaker 1

XLs. I didn't know they made like a Richardson XL size hat. Did you know that?

Speaker 3

No, no man, I'm stuck on these car hearts. He jokes with me all the time I wear car heart shit. They sure fit good and the hats fit better.

Speaker 4

Really he's a rope hat guy. We're going to have to hook him up.

Speaker 1

Yeah, we got some I'm an anti-hat guy.

Speaker 2

I'm an anti-hat guy. Cool stuff in the gear shop like the windbreaker umbrella. Yeah, yeah, before y'all leave, though let's get y'all hooked up with some good stuff. You know, oh, yeah and uh, we'll have a good time sandbars and everything for sure, we're definitely gonna send you with some stuff for sure, especially since y'all got a ride coming up.

Speaker 1

Oh yeah, oh yeah, we're have a good time at Sandbars and everything For sure. We're definitely going to send you with some stuff for sure, especially since y'all got a ride coming up. Oh yeah, oh yeah, we're going to be there tomorrow morning. Heck yeah.

Speaker 2

Y'all pumped up, aren't?

Speaker 3

you Pretty much, oh yeah.

Speaker 1

Good times. I'm looking forward to this part of the year.

Speaker 2

Oh, became such a big deal nowadays, like it wasn't like that 10 years ago. Five years ago it was. I've been on my whole life down, I think it's bigger now for sure is it bigger.

Speaker 4

I think a lot of it's got to do because of the sanctioned races.

Speaker 6

We've always done just kind of simmering down and everybody wants to do it on sam, I think so. And social media. I think people are just showing it more now. Everybody wants so it's always been a thing for me, you're probably right, it's always been a thing For me, you're probably right, it's always been a thing where we live.

Speaker 3

I've been on boats since I was born.

Speaker 4

My daddy.

Speaker 3

He's a captain on a boat. He works on a river. I've rowed a boat since I was a baby. He taught me all about the river when I was little. I love it. River runs through me worse than blood really.

Speaker 6

Oh yeah, me too, I think too I think people can't afford the ski boats anymore, so they're like I can afford a duck boat. That's true. Go to the river and hang out and do the same thing.

Speaker 1

You know you got like these atv parks and stuff. Yeah, this is like a whole another like way of doing that. Yeah, you know, I mean you're gonna spend money on side by sides jacked up tires.

Speaker 3

You know a huge risk it takes a special kind of person to be a sandbar man.

Speaker 2

Yeah, what kind of person is that man just gritty?

Speaker 3

in all honesty, I say down to earth yeah what'd you say?

Speaker 2

I said gritty yeah if you think about it, though, man, it's simple, it's simple it is you know I mean, unless you drive an hour to get there.

Speaker 3

You know I mean, how hard is it. Pack a cooler, get your drinks, get you some you know, whatever you want to drink, whatever go out there hang out swim. Yeah, you know not everybody got. Not everybody's got a pool. You know not everybody's got. You know fancy stuff to do things with. You know anybody can go, you know, on sandball right, I mean if you got a boat to the float, the motor run you up there.

Speaker 4

I mean, that's all you got you'll see them all at sandbar right every different boat it don't matter.

Speaker 6

I mean, and that's kind of you know, it depends on, probably, where you go, but I mean that's kind of like a mutual respect ground you know, to me thinking, you know, not really many people gets into it out there well, I mean it's true because people you show up to the same bar, it's like maybe 10 people in a little 16 foot oh yeah like there ain't no way off me in that boat right now, and it don't take but a second to get to know him like your friend you know, what y'all doing, I don't know.

Speaker 3

Pull up here, here you are it either goes really good or really bad what's the really bad part chocolate.

Speaker 4

Just a bunch of people drinking and get to mouthing and there you go yeah, most of us about boat racing no, I mean some some of it nowadays I imagine I kind of see what you're saying.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I mean just drinking and well, maybe it's all the better.

Speaker 4

No, it ain't.

Speaker 2

Maybe it's all the people coming together social media, all the trash talking, all that shit talking, and they all come together in the sandbar. Hey, what's up?

Speaker 4

yeah right, see, my wife wasn't always she is now. All of a sudden she got a sick boat dude yeah yeah yeah, I'm so shocked when she gets here.

Speaker 6

I'm gonna hook up to him. Like tim told me, I gotta use you this weekend.

Speaker 4

She's here, she's. I think she's already hooked up to it back there she is, she's here, oh man I wish.

Speaker 2

I know she's excited yeah, she a good girl, she's getting the hang of it.

Speaker 1

Have y'all seen her boat, the Baby Blue? Seen it on Facebook.

Speaker 3

Yeah, yeah, that's a good looking boat right there that's what you need man, it's pretty sick.

Speaker 1

Not blue.

Speaker 2

That might get you something a little less.

Speaker 1

What color would you like?

Speaker 2

What would you go blue? What's wrong with that color If I had to?

Speaker 3

get a solid color boat. Barrel aluminum no, I mean, I'd like to have a barrel boat.

Speaker 2

I think it'd be so bright.

Speaker 4

I don't like the barrel, I wouldn't want to polish it.

Speaker 3

Really I want a bright barrel, I want a barrel boat.

Speaker 2

Cut it buff it polish it. That's good too. What do you mean? Cut it, you know like sand it down, get it nice and smooth. I'm talking about mirror finish Like mirror.

Speaker 3

Mirror finish. He wants a chrome boat, I want it to look like a set of fresh polished big truck wheels. Walk back and be like ah On aluminum trailer polish man. Imagine how that would look With some 22s.

Speaker 6

Yeah, imagine how it'd look, though, man.

Speaker 4

Find a box Chevy. Nah you're talking.

Speaker 6

That would be kind of tight. Though it would be kind of tight, that would be cool.

Speaker 2

All right, well, we'll send you one. Send me one, all right, you going to polish it.

Speaker 3

Sure, I'll have that thing shined up.

Speaker 2

All right, it may not look stupid or nothing. It ain't going to look bad, is it no, all right? Well, if it does, we'll just paint it right.

Speaker 3

That's right. If it don, I think it's going to turn out All right, Jake, you make that happen.

Speaker 6

With your permission, absolutely Just don't paint it, don't paint it.

Speaker 3

While you're on your lunch break, don't put no paint on it.

Speaker 1

No it had to be no paint. What about the inside?

Speaker 2

of the boat. What are you going to do with the?

Speaker 4

inside. Same thing Turf, I would definitely paint the inside, there you do.

Speaker 1

That's going.

Speaker 3

Yeah, you'd have to turf it. I ain't real big on turf.

Speaker 2

It's going to be glossy. It's going to be shiny.

Speaker 6

It's going to be hot, that paint takes a lot of space.

Speaker 3

Well, I'm saying you know, if this was to come about, it wouldn't be a hang out in a boat all day and fish. You get what I'm saying. Yeah, It'd be kind of a showboat thing.

Speaker 4

You know, go out riding around and say like damn, I'm fishing this one.

Speaker 6

Yeah, you're never going to get another one. I know how this goes. I know how this goes Now that we done, said something about it.

Speaker 3

Somebody will do this. Somebody will say hey, look in here, click. And I'm like damn got me.

Speaker 4

Yeah, we had that not too long ago, right when Whitney's boat got posted, somebody else went. Oh, we can do that. Oh yeah, we won't get into that.

Speaker 3

So let's cut that polished bow part out.

Speaker 5

That would be cool, we can work on that.

Speaker 3

Man, that'd be sharp man, it would be, yeah it would be I mean

Speaker 5

how sharp would that be? I would do a cream over an all white.

Speaker 4

Cream Like an ice white Cream on the outside. Cream on the outside.

Speaker 6

Yeah, that would look pretty good.

Speaker 2

No, I'm doing all white clear coat. Oh, don't tell the idea, Don't stop it.

Speaker 6

I'm not going to tell the idea.

Speaker 3

If I had a solid color boat. I want black.

Speaker 6

Jake doesn't know this.

Speaker 1

If I had to pick a solid color, I'd pick black, like a flat black or like a flat.

Speaker 6

That's what my boat was this year. Yeah, I've seen it. That's a good looking boat.

Speaker 3

I mean man, you think about it, you scratch it.

Speaker 6

Walmart got 5 000 different colors of black paint just go there, spray some black, yeah I mean, and you get a little rock, you know a little rock dust on it a little water scum looks like the only

Speaker 2

thing I don't like, you'd be surprised that black boat shows a lot of water.

Speaker 1

It shows a lot of dirt, like dirt everything. Yeah, like just any that blue boat does too I too.

Speaker 2

I can't hardly keep my stuff clean. I can't either.

Speaker 6

I don't try. It gets dry. You don't try? No, not really, I mean.

Speaker 3

I use my boat too much.

Speaker 5

I don't you don't try to clean it. I don't do that.

Speaker 2

I mean I spray it off the pressure washer. I still keep it clean. That's it.

Speaker 6

Yeah, that's days, if it's not raining and 100 mile an hour wind, I'm doing something. Yeah, right, well, we can't, we can't, we can't decide the 100 mile an hour wind.

Dream Boats & Polish Projects

Speaker 3

For some reason, we keep using it, not me we go out there at least.

Speaker 1

Yeah, oh, they never. Don't ever work out good for us, but we have. Yeah, I don't know why we do that stupid shit I don't know, because we think that this is gonna be that one time we're gonna go go out there we're going to fight the odds.

Speaker 2

It's going to be legendary. We're all going to remember it. This is the day. This is the day.

Speaker 1

That's what Darrell gets us on every single time we put ourselves in a storm for the slight chance that we make a lifelong memory out of it, right?

Speaker 3

I done that one down the river this year, man, we got out there and that wind got blowing, I think it was like 28 out of the south man. It was waves out there, that bill's pump was running, the shoes was dipping water. Man, we hid out behind a dike for probably five hours, I mean we were stupid to go out there.

Speaker 2

My bill's pump doesn't even work, but that's what we thought. Man, today is the day Today is the day of all days, you could talk yourself into doing stuff like oh yeah, we did. Yeah, I said well, what if?

Speaker 1

what if I was supposed to be here in this very situation to make a decision?

Speaker 3

yeah, and I mean this is gonna make a break.

Speaker 2

It's a story of like you know, hey, we've caught 150 pounds of fish that day, but it was like it was rough weather, right, you want to be part of that story oh yeah, I think you don't want somebody else telling it for you always gets us in that story he's, it's going to be the day.

Speaker 1

And nine out of ten times it's like a complete shit show. Either somebody sinks their boat.

Speaker 2

None of us catch nothing, and Darryl's weather app sucks. It's never correct. I don't even think he reads it.

Speaker 3

I'm the same way about crappie fishing man. I'll fish five days straight or whatever I can do, and days straight or whatever I can do, and then I'm like we ain't doing too hot this week, but tomorrow it's going to be that day Tomorrow. They've just been slow.

Speaker 1

Because what's the chances you're going to go six damn times in a row. There's got to be a break in the odds here so tomorrow I'm going, and tomorrow's always worse.

Speaker 6

I knew this was going to happen.

Speaker 2

I'm wasting my time I shouldn't even came. And our wives? They all know we're stupid. They're like y'all are so stupid. I watch you do this over and over and over and you still do it.

Speaker 1

You know better, we got a lake that we fished, that it don't matter if it rains. It shut down for like two days, and we waited all night one time in a lightning storm, and fished it as soon as it ended. It ended at like what? Like 2 in the morning or something. It was late at night, I don't even remember and we went out there to catch shit, dude.

Speaker 2

I couldn't even see my live scope. I was throwing shit everywhere.

Speaker 3

That's how real footy is man? When it can change directions, you won't catch nothing, yeah.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I called B-Skye and said how you doing? He said see shit.

Speaker 1

I kept running into the fucking bank. So they all fish in the dark. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. And what's messed up about it is you're looking at screens trying to live scope in the dark. So you're looking at this bright screen. You can't even see the moonlight or anything. It's black around you, just completely.

Speaker 2

I done duct taped a piece of a. That way I knew which way to throw.

Speaker 1

I mean, it was a shit show we're getting hung up at trees and shit oh yeah, I definitely found some rock.

Speaker 6

We didn't go night fishing again. We never went night fishing again. That's it, man, you can't convince me of night fishing.

Speaker 2

We definitely couldn't see you, I know.

Speaker 6

That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 2

Darryl got camouflage on.

Speaker 1

Darryl, you're steering your boat, yeah, yeah I'm here, smarty oh man, it's a good time, though. Hunting and fishing is the best man you know it's funny going to that.

Speaker 6

You know my boat was black this year, like my duck boat. It's both more so I was in the woods, you know I I never turn my light, so even somebody's coming through the woods, I'll wait a while, just like I don't want to see where you're at yeah, and just don't smile yeah, I didn't do anything I do come rolling through, I just want to see what he's gonna do and I kind of pretend like I was asleep and he got like probably 30 yards from me and I said, hey, he said whoa, who's up in here?

Speaker 5

he like turns his light he was like man.

Speaker 6

I ain't never seen a black dude in the woods before. That's weird. I was like, oh dude.

Speaker 2

You don't see very many black people fishing in boats either. I know that's why you're so odd to me.

Speaker 6

You see it I have a buddy it depends where you go it is.

Speaker 2

It is, but you know most of them are not in a boat. Yeah, you know it is. But you know most of them are not in a boat. Yeah, you know it's crazy. They don't like to swim or something. You swim, I swim. Do you like to swim, though? No, I ain't swimming for fun. Okay, oh no.

Speaker 3

Well who swims for fun. Me. You swim for fun.

Speaker 1

Oh man, I love it. No, you got to throw it around. You guys are just swimming in like you float in the water, You're just sitting like.

Speaker 3

Yeah, he's floating in the water. I mean, no, I don't. I mean you're not swimming. No, I don't know who does that man, I ain't Michael Phelps, I'm not talking about sitting in like knee-deep water.

Speaker 4

We're talking about like Not chilling.

Speaker 6

You don't look like a swimmer no swimming you see that you better be going the other way. No way, after my ass. If you see me swimming, you better really be worried. Something's going on, or come get me, I don't know it's at the bottom of the river it's like sitting on a treadmill or something.

Speaker 2

You ain't never gonna see it. No, yeah unlikely yeah, very unlikely.

Speaker 1

Very it is. I'm just ready for, I'm just ready for it to get past us post-spawn where we start catching fish again. I'm ready to catch some fish too. Golly.

Speaker 2

You guys ready to hit the sandbars and I'm grateful you guys came and it was awesome.

Speaker 3

Oh yeah man, we tickled shit. Nice to be here.

Speaker 2

It's a good time, isn't it it?

Speaker 1

is. It's a good time.

Speaker 2

Yeah, we're going to send you hand out to people and stuff, all right, all right, cool, and we'll talk about a boat, and I'd like to see that thing, see what you can do with it. So are you a?

Speaker 3

painter. No, I want it polished.

Speaker 2

I mean, how about being like? Do you have experience doing that?

Speaker 3

A little bit. I mean, I'm not no professional, oh shit.

Speaker 2

We know that, hey, if.

Speaker 3

I can't do it, somebody else can. Oh shit.

Speaker 1

It's going to get done, yeah for sure. This is how it all starts, you don't got to be a professional painter to make sure that job gets done? No, yeah.

Speaker 3

Look, hear me, if somebody can't do something, there's always somebody who can. That's right, I know a guy.

Family Business & Boat Building Life

Speaker 2

Yeah, yeah. Well, that's you, the guy you know a. Hey, it's always that one buddy.

Speaker 1

We know a guy like that too. Yeah, we know a guy like that too, you didn't catch what I said, did you?

Speaker 2

Oh, he heard you. You got his earphones on. He heard you. These earphones work really good.

Speaker 1

That's funny man. I'm glad you guys came and I think once we get out of here we'll go back out on the plane and just look around some more stuff, see if we got any of those Mach 1s in there.

Speaker 2

What'd you see, he's over there looking at Jake Jake's like all that shit's sold man.

Speaker 1

Jake's telling me like there's eyes. Look at Jake.

Speaker 3

Another one can be built.

Speaker 6

That's right, that's what I said. I still don't have one. We don't even have boats. Our boats are light. Oh, when we race those circuits.

Speaker 2

Don't have a boat Look.

Speaker 1

We don't have a boat?

Speaker 6

We don't have a boat.

Speaker 2

Listen, we don't have a boat we can rob, you know, because they're all sold.

Speaker 3

I'd like to ride in one.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Speaker 3

That'd be cool.

Speaker 2

I'd like to run one.

Speaker 3

I don't know, nobody's got one.

Speaker 4

Well, they're new. We got one getting put together right now. That's fixing to be Boy.

Speaker 3

Does.

Speaker 6

Nick.

Speaker 3

West got one.

Speaker 2

Oh, he sells them.

Speaker 6

I don't know if he has a house or one. I'm ready for that though. I'm ready for that though.

Speaker 5

I'm sure he picked one out for himself. I'm sure he did. I got several.

Speaker 2

Yeah, they are not sticking around long. I mean, yeah, they're, they're they're not sticking around long. I mean they were crazy. Yeah, it's amazing there's both coming to this. Yeah, yeah, there's another boat coming too.

Speaker 3

That's going to uh, I know, I think I got a sneak peek.

Speaker 2

Oh yeah, I think I don't know, I'm not gonna say there's a lot of weird shit out there, we'll talk yeah, that's the thing. We got some projects.

Speaker 1

There's some projects walked around out there you'd see some like one-off shit, and that's what I like.

Speaker 2

My wife hates it, my wife hates it, like hey, we got an idea.

Speaker 3

I'm like. I don't like the anticipation.

Speaker 2

There's 35 ideas across this back wall. Pick one to finish.

Speaker 1

That's what we'll do, man. A lot of times we'll build these boats, and sometimes we don't even put them in the water. No, sometimes we don't. We'll dump shit before we even test it. We're like we don't like that, though. Let's do it another way. Yeah, fuck, I got a better idea.

Speaker 2

I think that's one thing about our company that makes it special. It's like dude, we come to work, we're like, you know, let's do this, let's do that, whatever.

Speaker 4

There's nothing by the book. No, when we figure out what he wants to do, oh my God, don't blame it on me.

Speaker 1

Well, because when we sit around talking like we are right now and we'll just start talking about something, get an idea and next thing you know we're going directly from here to there.

Speaker 2

Yeah, like that fast, if I have to drive like from here to Tennessee, like where you guys around Dude, I have five different models built up in my head. Like my head, like fuck, let's do this. I you know we're. You know when I get confused and lost whatever or the direction I'm wanting to go, I'll just get that steering wheel drive for a while and I'll be come to you I'll be back and he wakes up.

Speaker 4

He dreams about it too, because when I wake up sometimes say I get up at 5 30, I already got three missed calls and a couple of texts from tim. He done had a dream. Oh, we're eight up with it.

Speaker 6

All families end up with it like it's just it's crazy.

Speaker 2

Like you talk about a boat building family. This is it, man. This is it's crazy. We eat and breathe, I mean we argue and fight oh yeah, the whole fucking time we're building something, yeah, yeah we all have different ideas and we'll build it together. We're like that's really stupid. Go ask your mom and then mom would say who came up with that idea, you or your dad?

Speaker 1

I come back to dad and I'm like, hey, you got to go in there and tell her, because she just told me I couldn't put that boat on the jig.

Speaker 2

Because I was like you are. I told her we work, yeah, you are going to put her on the job.

Speaker 5

So, all the time I got to go Because mom won't listen to me.

Speaker 1

No, and she don't have time to listen to him either. But I'll be like I have to go get dad. I'm like I'm going to go get dad. And guess what, when we come back, we're putting that bow in that damn jig.

Speaker 4

You just got to get out of the way.

Speaker 2

Ashley actually actually runs this place. Oh yeah, I mean she does, I mean she does, I mean she. Uh, she doesn't like office work and she gets bored at home I mean she and she's super smart.

Speaker 2

I mean, she's super smart and, uh, I guess we're always the dreamers and she's, you know, she's a doer, you know, she just likes to be out in the planet. She, uh, she, she. She works good with the guys, you know, and they don't give her no shit either. Oh no, you know. No, she don't give a shit either. Oh no.

Speaker 4

No, she'll put them in their place, no, she can weld.

Speaker 5

She's a good woman, though.

Speaker 4

Yeah yeah, she can weld. We don't give a shit.

Speaker 2

Yeah, she can weld better than most. You know Me and my wife. We met in church back home. We were 18. But she was my helper at Express Boats. You know I help her to express boats. You know I got her job there. She was, I was a boat builder and she used to be my helper. We used to make a lot of money. It was on piece rate and uh. So then she went to rigging. She learned how to rig boats and and she willed parts and you know. So you know we had both parts of right boat building skills, whatever. Uh, then once we got on our own, just I was when shit fell apart. But you, we started building this building. That you know. But it's been fun, man, it's been. It's been a good time you know it's been a journey.

Speaker 2

You know, raise your kid in it and get all these great people around us all the time, and so get out of here.

Speaker 1

Go get that merch boxed up for you guys, take it out there and hand it out.

Speaker 5

Speaker 1
