The river might be choppy, but the vision is clear: we bring Noah and Lauren from Rowdy Creek Outdoors into the studio to chart how a loud, hilarious sandbar scene turns into stories with real weight. We start where it all began—accessible racing that feels like a duck hunt on water—then tackle what separates a fair lane from a bad one, why 660 feet matters, and how one over-trimmed heartbeat can write a whole afternoon’s narrative. The banter is sharp, but the blueprint is sharper.

From there, we lean into the pivot that has us most excited: Rowdy Creek’s next chapter in bowhunting and short-form documentary. Think two-minute profiles that slow the energy, pull focus on the people behind the boats, and capture the real work between highlight clips. Along the way, we swap misses and lessons—string-jumping does, angle math from tree stands, and the difference between convenience targets and 3D deer that train your eye for real shots. Ethics, patience, and clean exits take center stage without killing the fun.

Then the wildcard: golf. We sketch formats inspired by YouTube golf, brainstorm ridiculous stakes, and laugh about high socks and “best ball I’ve ever hit” moments. But the crossover is legit—pacing, feel, composure, and course management echo the discipline that makes a race fair and a hunt ethical. Add in a gear detour—Canon vs Sony, editing flow, who actually gets to touch the camera—and you’ve got a full picture of how a rowdy brand grows up without going corporate.

We wrap with a plan: play nine, then set Lauren up for her first deer. Racing roots, bowhunting craft, golf chaos—one day, one crew, one evolving story. If you love outboard racing, DIY short films, ethical archery, or just want to watch a team raise their game while keeping the jokes, hit play, subscribe, and drop us a comment with what you want to see next.

Welcome, Guests, and Channel Milestone

SPEAKER_07

It's five o'clock and you're off the clock with Beast Guy. Today we have as our guest Noah Sheffield and his wife Lauren from Rowdy Creek outdoors. Okay, you see him on the sandbars, see him having a good time, getting turned up. And today we're gonna talk about the sandbars, the racing, we're gonna talk about deer hunting, and we might end up going and playing golf later. Okay, and Lauren might shoot her first deer with a bow as well. So it's gonna be a pretty cool podcast. We're gonna talk about a lot of stuff that we're all related in together, and it's gonna be a good one. But before we get into it, make sure you leave a like, subscribe, and hit the bell for notifications. And we're we're pushing 7,000 subscribers on YouTube. Our numbers are growing. Um I cannot thank y'all enough for just the support and the views. It means a lot to us. Put in a lot of hard work into making this podcast. And if there's anything you would like to see, put it in the comments, and uh we'll definitely address it and I mean we might cover it. So, anyways, let's get right into it. So let's go back to like sandbar season. Obviously, it's gonna you know it's over now, but getting into it, what is y'all's like main goal to go out there and just have a good time?

SPEAKER_09

Um our goal, it's kind of changed a little bit over the course. Um, it used to be, you know, we just go out there and have fun and kind of cover, we do a little bit of sandbar racing from time to time. Then uh I met Taylor Hughes, and of course, when you get with somebody like that, you kind of you kind of go deep in with the racing. So we did that, we kind of switched kind of into that. But our main goal is like we'll go out and have fun a lot of times, and um just it's something a little different. Like we got into it when we got into it in 2020 with the sandbar stuff, there really wasn't much sandbar content put out there. And uh, we were gonna do kind of your hunting type content when we first started, but man, this you got so many hunting stuff. And I've always wanted to be you know different. So uh that's when you differ.

SPEAKER_07

Well you taught you that. Everybody had this thing. Has anybody seen this guy wear shorts? Okay, and his socks.

SPEAKER_05

With his socks all the way.

SPEAKER_07

We need to quit that. We didn't have to put him running right after he said. Yeah, we do. Yeah, we do. I think y'all did come in at the right time, man, because it's like before, you know, we were doing the sanction racing in Pineville, you know, we did that for a while. But the sandbar stuff, there's so many sandbars around.

SPEAKER_09

That's for your average, you're just normal person. Right. The races at Pineville and stuff, you know, you y'all seen it. It's like a select group that are in that, you know. Sandbar stuff, you can go out there and have fun and never your motor not being billed, you can go out there with a 25-4 stroke, you know, and have fun. Yeah. Pineville races, I'm sure you can have fun too just going out there, but you're not a full. Um it's way more serious. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

The sandbar's way more fun than it adapts.

SPEAKER_09

The sandbar can get serious too. Especially with him down there.

SPEAKER_07

But uh dude, if anybody's ever seen chocolate lose, you ain't seen a murder person in your own. We don't take loss very well. He roll, he rolled back up to the bank every day. Google Face Bones.

SPEAKER_10

Very accurate, very accurate.

SPEAKER_03

You're talking all that shit all the time, you know. All the time. He loses no shit.

SPEAKER_07

And half the time's because he holds the trim button too much.

SPEAKER_03

Yep. Definitely overtrimmed. We'll get him on the company.

SPEAKER_04

Sorry, I got a trim computer now. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Had to get him on that computer.

SPEAKER_04

That's hilarious, dude.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he needed it. Yeah, he said I went over for us. Well, you overtrimmed every time.

SPEAKER_07

That's especially rough water, man. And I remember I forgot where the race was. I was on the sandbar and I was watching it, and the water was so rough. So, like more bay, probably. Like, speaking of the sanction races, everything's pretty uniformed. It's you can get prepared to it for it almost to the T. Yeah. But when you're out there on a sandbar, it's different. It's a different environment. The water could be rougher. Yeah.

Course Conditions, Lanes, and Fairness

SPEAKER_09

Um that's why when we hold our races, we normally try to do it, it's not necessarily a private lake, right? But we try to do it on a lake. Like racing on a river, dude, it's tough. It's always a drag race, you should never, ever, ever. One lane should not have the advantage of another. Right. Like it never should. Right. So uh doing that on a river, you're almost always guaranteed one lane's gonna be quicker than the other. Yeah. Almost always.

SPEAKER_07

Especially when it comes to setting up buoys. Like the thing is, too, it's like if the track isn't 660, you know, say it's you know 700, yeah. I mean, whoever's got the more mile an hour got an advantage. Exactly. So like you almost got to set yourself up for each race that day. Yep. Instead of, you know, just being prepared to fasten.

SPEAKER_03

And you can't control the weights, is you know, it's setting up in a curve, it's tough, man.

SPEAKER_07

But that's not what it's about, though. I mean, if you really think about it, the sandbar is more of a social event. It's a social event. It's like it's like the duck hunting of racing. You know what I mean? Exactly. And I think that's why it's growing.

SPEAKER_03

So where are you guys gonna take Rowdy Creek from the race scene or the uh uh, you know, you're talking about expanding? So so what are you guys' plans for the future?

Racing as Social: Community Over Competition

SPEAKER_09

So we have never really covered much hunting. And um, I think we're about to get into like the bow hunting type of deal. Love to get y'all involved on it too. But uh kind of cover bow hunting in a little bit. And we'd also like to start doing a little bit of like short films, which is kind of like, you know, with y'all, we could probably separate y'all out and do kind of like a you know, a minute to two-minute video of kind of where y'all came from, you know, what all you do and how you finish. It's kind of like a little short film. It look definitely different than you know, your normal Rowdy Creek content, which is more upbeat and um flashy and yeah, rowdy. We'd like to kind of settle it down for like a short film type deal and kind of cover like little documentaries kind of deal. Exactly, almost like a little documentary just to kind of cause a lot of people see us doing that type stuff. What we love doing, enjoy doing, but they don't really see the part that gets us to that point. Right. Right, right, right. Yeah. Well we'll like I think we're gonna start kind of doing some of that stuff and of course covering some deer hunting or bow hunting.

SPEAKER_07

I think that'd be really cool too, because like if you take some of these people that are especially like the the sandbar guys, the racers, the motor builders, you take all the people that most of the you know duckbelt people know, and you break their lives down, like show them like how they are, it's like it's pretty interesting. Everybody's from different little exactly would love to see that too.

Rowdy Creek’s Next Moves: Bowhunting and Short Films

SPEAKER_05

I think that'd be really cool too, because you know, people that are on sandbars is all about fun, and then you take it to like a more serious way. Yeah, because everybody once hunties roll around, it's like, all right, yeah, we party, we had fun, but let's get serious. So I think that'd be like a really cool cool concept. Pretty cool. Because people that are following the channel would be like, okay, you're serious now.

SPEAKER_07

You would get new people, you would get new people just for that. Yeah, because it's like the different eye. Yeah, something besides just hang out. Yeah, I mean, you're yeah, your demographic will go from like the average like 25 years old to like 65. Exactly. And grandpa on the sandbar, which you can't join the club. We have a senior uh citizen discount to say it is uh Walker assessive.

SPEAKER_03

But I mean I mean, on top of that, we went to Nashville. You know, we we parted in Nashville. I had a good time. Oh, that was that was awesome. I don't usually do that kind of stuff, but we had a good time in Nashville.

SPEAKER_09

That was that was a very, very fun event. I wish we would have had them glasses. What's that? And just like in records. I want some of those.

SPEAKER_01

I need to get some of the things.

SPEAKER_03

What's crazy though? Uh we were at the Airbnb the next day. Me and B Scott, we were beat because it was like we parted all night, you know? And you guys were going back out. Like, how do y'all do? How do y'all do that? It was rough.

SPEAKER_07

Hang on, you can't say beat unless you know how Jake Wright looked that next morning. I still went out Saturday night. So he didn't start out right. I walked outside and Jake's out there, he's in like pajama shorts, shirtless, and his hair's all jacked up. On his phone. And he's like trying to talk to somebody, I guess, because we left the boat on the sidewalk.

SPEAKER_08

The guy that won the boat didn't take it with him.

SPEAKER_07

So yeah, that was wild.

SPEAKER_08

It was still off of Broadway. Basically, that yeah, that boat on the sidewalk. Yeah. It was still there on Third Street. And it was a lot of fun uh hooking that up by myself.

SPEAKER_05

So and that was and that's and where the boat was like downhill too. Yeah, it was it was that makes it worse.

SPEAKER_08

That was an eventful night. It was not a one-man job, but you got it done the year closer. I got that shit done.

SPEAKER_03

I was all in that Arkansas. I'm out. Yeah, I was in front of you. Yeah. We got you guys.

SPEAKER_09

You guys are going back out though. Oh, yeah. That first night, though, that was you had Brian and uh Daly. You had that thing. That was the first thing. That's the first thing we walked up on. Yeah, y'all rolled up. Of course we get what's happening. Get to everything late. We showed up here. We everywhere we go, somehow, I don't know. We always end up late. But I remember getting there next thing you know. I didn't see as soon as soon as he said that, I looked over and I was like, look at what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_01

It wasn't your fault. It wasn't your fault.

SPEAKER_10

No, never, never. It's never her fault.

SPEAKER_06

It's always his own.

SPEAKER_10

He likes waving on me.

SPEAKER_06

Well, what's he doing? I mean, what makes him wave on me? Yeah, I'm putting makeup on and all that type of stuff.

SPEAKER_09

Trim the stray hairs. Yeah. But uh, no, that night was so we get there, and y'all are like, somebody said Daly's over at his bar or Daly's bar, Daly's something. And I was like, yeah, his bar's over there, and they're like, no, he's over there. And I was like, hey, that's crazy. Next thing I know, I hear Brian's trying to get him out here on the uh on the boat. And I'm just like, I was like, what? And uh out of nowhere, he everybody's looking for Brian. And then Brian just shows up out of nowhere and he's like, Man, he just burnt me on my hand. He I tried to put my hand around him and he's had his cigarette lighter burn or something. He's trying to move that boat to the door. Yeah, cigarette burned. I didn't know that.

SPEAKER_03

Well, Brian was trying to get the boat inside his door.

SPEAKER_07

So John Daly said, hey, if you can get it in here, I'll do it. If you can get it in here. So Brian was like, okay, I'm gonna jump over. He didn't think he was actually gonna try. Oh, Brian would try.

SPEAKER_09

No, yeah, but I don't think Daly actually thought he was. Well, Daly don't know Brian.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah. Challenge accepted. Yeah, Brian's will definitely do it.

SPEAKER_08

I I think Jake came to me and said, Hey, dude, Brian's like, yeah, he argued with the bouncers of John Daly's bar for 45 minutes. Oh, wow. Trying to drag our boat through that door. Wow.

SPEAKER_05

But it would have been cool. It would have been epic.

SPEAKER_04

It would have been cool. It would have been cool. Then when we went over there, I went over with Noah and Lauren. They had his table flagged off. He was eating. Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, there's a line. There's a line to go meet him. It was awesome. It was Daryl got to meet him.

SPEAKER_02

It was a good time.

SPEAKER_07

Daryl, could you take him and golf right now? His current state, your your best. Your peak, his current state. You got him or now you cover them? I'm taking him.

SPEAKER_05

I got the dog in me. Daryl.

SPEAKER_07

How many strokes?

SPEAKER_05

How many dark? How many strokes? Oh, if I beat him, it'd be like one stroke.

SPEAKER_04

John won't even push him in the street. One stroke, Daryl.

SPEAKER_05

That's how I know you're pulling. You said if I beat him, I've only beat him by one stroke. I would have to be close to the street.

SPEAKER_07

Well, then your first initial like reaction was like you would blow him out. Yeah. No, it was like I take them.

SPEAKER_08

I compete. Oh gosh. Take him means win, Daryl. That's what I said. I take them. No, you won't. Do you golf? No.

SPEAKER_09

You need to be all golf. I want to get into golf. My brothers are big into golf.

SPEAKER_07

He has clubs for sale. They're nice, dude. They're nice, dude. I play with them. Everything Tim got is nice. They're so nice. Brand new. Brand new. New bad calloway. Got everything, dude.

SPEAKER_05

They're nice. I want some money with them. They're pretty nice.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, they got more tournament wins than times he went out and played.

SPEAKER_03

Why y'all hating on me?

SPEAKER_07

I'm hating on you because I got a I got a full golf set too, I haven't used. He ordered his brand new too, though. Oh, didn't order. Yeah, he walked into the store. He walked to the store and brought them out brand new. Same day, dude. Same day. Yeah. No, golf's one of those things like you got time. Where do you squeeze the time for golf though? It means some good uh stuff for y'all too.

SPEAKER_09

There's a bunch of uh golf channels out there. I like I said, I was uh not doing something a couple weeks ago, and I you know I was on YouTube, and I think it was like a good, good golf or something like that. And I was like, dude, that's freaking awesome. They go out there and have it's kind of like what we do, but in a golf scene. Yeah. So I was like, dude, that's freaking awesome. It is cool.

SPEAKER_10

That's all he's been watching recently, too. Get home from work, he's like good, good, golf.

SPEAKER_07

How else would I bring that up? Exactly. The YouTube golf now. He's getting pumped up right out of the U.S.

SPEAKER_09

Shockley, you play golf for me.

SPEAKER_04

I like to play golf.

SPEAKER_03

He sucks at it, though.

SPEAKER_06

You're gonna wear the high socks. Yes.

SPEAKER_07

Dude, I think that'll be some good content right there. I can see Shockley in like the old school golf get up with the little hat and the like the baggy pants and the visors with the visors. Yes.

SPEAKER_10

No. I can I can see it. I can see it.

SPEAKER_05

After seeing Shockley run, I'm gonna say he's safely safe. Golf is safe from him. Well, we all went and played one. You know how many clubs are. He's over there.

SPEAKER_09

One miss club in the water.

SPEAKER_02

No, I don't know. I think I hit the ball one time.

SPEAKER_09

Anything he does is serious. He'll be joking around for about five, ten seconds next thing he's gonna. No.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, it lose.

SPEAKER_07

I ain't gonna lie, though, losing affects me too pretty bad. And I I don't I might not freak out. I might freak out every once in a while. You've seen me hit some hard 10-yard sprints on doors. I'm the guy that will shank one and just take a hard 90 for 10.

SPEAKER_03

He'll run a 10-yard dig.

Golf Talk: Gear, Time, and YouTube Golf

SPEAKER_04

I'm like, why are you doing that for it? A lot of times I'm mad at myself, though. I don't if I'm losing if I lose lose a raise fair and square, I'm good with it. Like, uh you beat me. Good job, dude. Shake your hand. But if I had done something over trim or something happened to the boat, motor, something like that. Yeah, that's the worst.

SPEAKER_09

When something happens to the motor and you know you're faster than the guy. Yeah. And that's drive somewhere. Gosh, that hurts.

SPEAKER_04

Or when you leave the line, you gap them by like five lengths and then that's the worst.

SPEAKER_09

And they pass you right the way lean out on you and then they come back to bottom.

SPEAKER_04

I told you I had your ass. Oh, you mother. Every time you had me go, especially your name.

SPEAKER_09

If you lose, you're gonna hear it.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, yeah. So if I win, I'll hear it. Win, lose, draw. That's what it is.

SPEAKER_08

That's the platform you're on, though, Franklin. You have to be a good one. You set that platform. Yeah, you did that yourself. I did.

SPEAKER_07

I did. And you're pretty mouthy too. Sometimes sometimes. It ain't like he can be a victim when he kills my contract too. I mean, he's pretty mouthy himself.

SPEAKER_03

He went over four and I was on the phone for 12 hours. Well, you had a 12-hour drive.

SPEAKER_04

Sold 20 boats. Yeah. 0 4 was in the city. Oh, you're talking about South Carolina? No. I didn't go 0-4 in South Carolina. Oh, okay. South Carolina was fun. It was. I went over four in Memorial Bay in my own turf. That's what hurt so bad about that. That was the roughest track we've got. That was rough, dude. That's where it was.

SPEAKER_07

See you shocked. He's only spend more than hard times at rough tracks when he's working to trim himself. His motor at that last race was running.

SPEAKER_09

That's what I heard. Running, running. Heck, y'all were there. It was at that um Arkansas Taylors. That's the best I've seen.

SPEAKER_07

That boat running all year. That rig's quick. It is. It's fat. I mean when you look at the times, it's like you don't get like Yeah, but they're all getting fast.

SPEAKER_03

They don't get much faster than that. Everybody's getting faster. And 10-3s are fast.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, when we used to race. When we used to race real quick. When we first started racing to Pinesville, 10-3 was fast. Oh, yeah. Shit.

SPEAKER_04

When we first started racing in Pineville, 11 flat was fast. Yes. That's what I remember.

SPEAKER_03

That's how that's how much the motor is. You got some humpboat guys now running 10-8s.

SPEAKER_07

Well, you gotta think too, like at the very beginning of like the sanctioned races. You're talking about racing like DBSTs. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, if you're not running a 9-8, you're in trouble.

SPEAKER_07

And then like, you know, that's kind of how the Mod 40 got developed, was at the races. Yeah. You know, we were going and we were racing, and then we come back and we'd work on something. That's how the Mod 40 came came to be.

SPEAKER_03

How do we get back on racing again? Dude, it's just tasting.

SPEAKER_04

We're out of creek races.

SPEAKER_03

I know. We do everything.

SPEAKER_07

You got checker flags on it.

SPEAKER_03

We literally do everything. I mean, we're not in the golf yet. I say we do golf. I think that'd be fine.

SPEAKER_09

I'm down. I think it'd be freaking high.

SPEAKER_08

Good content. That's what I was saying earlier. YouTube golf, that's a big crowd.

SPEAKER_07

There's a lot of people that play golf. Yes.

SPEAKER_09

It's a big crowd. Yes. That thing that Good Good did, where they did the what was it? Um it had like a 10,000. That's the one I was watching where they whoever won, they were playing with each other, you know. Yes. And uh they played for whoever's sleeping in the nice van or whatever, and whoever's kind of sleeping in a mediocre one, and whoever's sleeping in like a real bad one. Yeah. Dude, if we did some just crazy stuff like that would be I'd be sleeping in the bad one.

SPEAKER_08

They also play rounds with like, you know, Donald Trump. Oh, yeah. You know, that's what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_05

We played a Tigers Woods course last year when I went with them, and they did it. We went fishing the day before. Yeah. You got strokes off of how many whoever went fishing.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah. Adding a little something to it. Yeah, so like really, you're probably like you're you're probably a pretty deadly weapon out there then, because you can fish and golf.

SPEAKER_03

Well, you was playing golf in that. I mean, you was doing the golf part of it, wasn't you? And the fishing.

SPEAKER_05

Well, I had so me and Bubby and Jackson were on my team. Yeah. And then they had their uh Steve and other ones are on their team, and then we won the fishing, and then Bubby's like a dog at golf, so they like had two strokes lead, so they never caught up. It's fun though. Yeah, it is pretty fun.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, if we all go play golf, we gotta go to somewhere like super nice, like when people look at you. Dude, right? Is this crowd don't belong here? Mystic or somewhere else. Does this crowd look like the goofy guy at Oswald? Mystic with crowd.

SPEAKER_10

At the wrong place.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I need no water.

SPEAKER_08

If you go to Mystic, they have a cart on the weekends. Yeah, it's too nice for Shockley. What? I've been there.

SPEAKER_07

A cart girl. It's nice.

SPEAKER_08

A cart girl?

SPEAKER_07

Malvern, I'm gonna be a little bit. I'm pretty sure in the summer.

SPEAKER_05

They drive around with like two cart girl drinks. Yeah. Sure. That's like a thing. It might just have been events or something that had to be. Yeah, drive around. You don't have to go back and get your stuff. See, that's the kind of golf he likes. Didn't we drive Daryl when we played cart?

SPEAKER_04

Get all the drinks you want. Yeah, we beat him.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it was like five against him. Yeah, four, wasn't it?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, no, it was a five-man rally versus Daryl. And we did beat him. Now, Daryl is good.

SPEAKER_03

No, Daryl's better, better than us five. Yeah, oh. False. Jake, I will beat you and I'll give you eight strokes. I'll beat you in a little bit.

SPEAKER_05

I will give you eight strokes and I'll beat you in eight. I will beat you in a street. I'll beat him in that race, too. Four spokes and I'll done it.

SPEAKER_02

We're joking.

SPEAKER_10

Took me a second.

SPEAKER_02

We are two.

Competitiveness, Trim Tales, and Speed Progress

SPEAKER_05

That day, Darryl was the best golfer. I'm the best golfer still. False. Jake, all right, I'll do you want even better. I'll go out there with a driver. I'll go out there with a driver or a seven earned putter. Oh, wow. And I will absolutely beat you.

SPEAKER_07

Yo, Daryl says a bunch of crazy shit on here. He does. He just said he'd be a week ago, Daryl would tell B that he could stand at 30 yards. Oh, yeah. And I could stand at 20 yards. And if we shot at the exact same time, his arrow would beat my arrow to the target.

SPEAKER_03

Because he shoots a hoyt, and we shoot.

SPEAKER_07

I said, Daryl, mathematically, Noah's thinking about it. You'd have to be shooting. It's not impossible. You'd have to be shooting 33% faster than me. Well, you just came up with that number.

SPEAKER_04

He's shooting that new Hoyt 306. That'd be the only way.

SPEAKER_03

What bow do you shoot, though? A Hoyt. Thank you. Oh. Good. I knew I like Noah. So you like skinny guys?

SPEAKER_07

Skinny guys, Hoyts, they go in hand. Skinny bow hunt?

SPEAKER_05

Checkers, whatever you want to say. No, I haven't been bow hunting before. He's gonna come tomorrow with us in Mississippi.

SPEAKER_10

Where are y'all gonna be? Set up a tree stand yesterday.

SPEAKER_07

You'll have to say exactly where, but oh, it's private land, so it's all good there. So you never shot deer with a bow?

SPEAKER_03

You never shot deer with the bow? Never she's never even shot a bow. No. Oh wow, it's gonna be good.

SPEAKER_10

I've never been deer hunting either, so it's gonna be it's gonna be the first.

SPEAKER_07

Wow. Yeah. That's what you ought to do, dude. Y'all just film her, do like a whole full hunt, like and make her go like do extreme, extreme hunting. You know what I mean? Yeah, dude.

SPEAKER_09

Like stalking, you know, doing all kinds of stuff. You're gonna be a dick. I'd have to break her in a little bit.

SPEAKER_10

Like, I don't know if she could just you think you'd go out there and just I'm still trying to figure out how I'm supposed to climb this tree. I don't know.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, but some sticks up there. It was a it's a double tree. It's a you know, a tree, and then it splits into two. And um, dude, it was sketch. I had the sticks, I brought the sk sticks up there, put my platform up, and was trying to put her um what do you call it? Life one. No, the j I was I'm just gonna put her in a um lock on type build.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I got you.

SPEAKER_09

And trying to do that on a split tree by you with just two hands and trying to get the thing tightened up and everything, that was I had my little I had a my foot on a little branch that was about that big, and that's the only thing that was holding me up at about 25 feet up. And uh that was sketch. Thankfully I'm I'm long and lanky because I had like my left pinky toe on my platform. It's on video. It was that's so funny. It was wild grounded pound.

SPEAKER_04

Me and B Scott don't stand on limbs that's that size.

SPEAKER_07

Heck no. I figured we didn't. No way, dude. I'm stepping on the uh steps, preferably. I seen you kill a big buck. It was alright. It was good, 90 years. It was a good deer, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Matter of fact, the smallest 10 point you ever seen.

SPEAKER_07

Welcome to that day, Shockley. Welcome to the whole day. Like from you waking up. Oh, yeah, deer walked out. I shot it. No, no. You missed all the all the good stuff.

SPEAKER_04

Tell them what they really want to hear. No, you missed the first time. I missed opening that Sunday morning. I missed that same deer. Oh, yeah, you told me that.

SPEAKER_05

Target panic? Target panic. I think it's just the Matthews thing. They just automatically miss. I can't. That's why it starts with the M. Matthews for miss. You know, I can't use all the things. No, I actually missed too. I wasn't gonna bring that up. I actually did miss. There's somebody else with a Matthews and miss too. I don't say any names.

SPEAKER_07

Okay. If the Matthews was from the 1900s, it don't count.

SPEAKER_08

Let me defend myself. That was the most athletic deer I've ever seen.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_08

I I uh my arrow stuck in the tree right behind her. I shot where I meant to shoot. Props to her, you know, tip of the cap. That's all I'm gonna say.

SPEAKER_03

She was good, huh?

SPEAKER_07

She was good. She dropped it down, huh? She made it. It happens.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, they dropped that string. They they're just gonna be.

SPEAKER_07

And plus too, dude, it's like you're trying to get you're trying to kill that first deer with your bow. And it's why it's always tough. Always tough.

SPEAKER_08

I did shoot a hog last night in the dark. So, you know.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I pulled up to pick them up, and I guess the hog, I mean, go ahead and walk them till you're shooting a hog.

Bow Choices, First Hunts, and Tree Stand Setup

SPEAKER_08

Uh so up in the up in the tree for about two hours, probably. Uh, no sign of life around me until it gets dark. And then, you know, I hear little pigs, you know, ruffling, and and he comes out about 30 seconds after he comes out of here, B Scout fire side by side. He's coming to get me. So I'm like, man, I'm just gonna fling one at it. It was so dark that I pulled back and I tried to look through my site, and I had to like back up, find my peephole just to know where to look through my, you know, my sight to get it in the vicinity. And I flung one at it and I hit it, but uh yeah, he's still he's still alive. He's hurting.

SPEAKER_07

Maybe he's hurting. It went about it went about like, I don't know, the full broadhead length in. It's got like bone marrow on it. So like he did like something. He's hurt. He's hurt. He helped you. He's not coming back. He wasn't as athletic as that doe, though. No, he wasn't. He's probably gonna die early from arthritis. Maybe. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_08

I may have shortened his life a little bit. A little bit, yeah. He won't come to the feet pal for a minute. I know. That's true, too.

SPEAKER_07

I don't know. I hand selected his spot too. So I was like, listen, dude, I got deer coming here, I got deer coming here every day. I was like, but they're little bucks, dude. They're like little forking horns and stuff. Like you're not gonna probably be able to shoot one. I was like, but this spot, my camera died like a day and a half ago, but it had a bunch of does going to it. So it should be easy.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Dude, as soon as I I got back from dropping them off, putting them in there, both of the cameras I could have put them on were just blowing up, dude, the whole evening. I'm like, oh my god, he killed someone. Oh he would have showed this. Like for two hours, like two hours before dark, there's deer out there the whole time. That's how it goes though. Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Oh yeah. Every time. It don't matter where I would have put you. Yeah, like it would have happened. The deer wouldn't have been at the spot that I was at. For sure.

SPEAKER_07

It probably probably also didn't help that we uh drove in there and drove out of there uh three times. Yep. Wait, what? Because he forgot stuff. What happened?

SPEAKER_08

What happened? Wait, wait, we just weren't on the same page. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_07

So when Jake said he got his saddle, I assume, all right, you got your saddle, you got your ropes, right? Correct. That's what you would kind of think?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I was thinking all stuff stays together.

SPEAKER_07

All right, you got your saddle, you got your ropes. We get there, and he's like, Hey, you got bow hangers? I'm like, No, I don't have bow hangers. I left them in the truck. Run back, bring them back bow hangers, and then he's like, hey dude, you got a you got like a rope? Can you tie off one? I'm like, no. Oh, I got this in my pocket.

SPEAKER_04

I totally ran back and kept mine and y'all are driving a side by side all the way to the deer stand? Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Well, we started like four hours before dark, five hours before dark.

SPEAKER_04

I still don't ever take it off in his hand.

SPEAKER_08

We didn't have time. Hey, Jake. I'm a walker too. I had a live animal on me, so it didn't, you know, it worked. He drew bud. Yeah. I drew bud. I did. And got my arrow back. Um, what was I about to say? But I told you all my stuff was in my tree. In my tree.

SPEAKER_07

I didn't get the message, dude.

SPEAKER_08

Oh, I remember that. Yeah. Oh. And you we were all in the same wing. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

All right, good. You know the best team I hunt in the ground blind. You don't have to worry about that. You're just scared of heights, Daryl.

SPEAKER_07

Okay, I'm just saying.

SPEAKER_01

I'm just throwing it out there. Yeah, Daryl. I don't like being in a ground blind.

SPEAKER_07

When it's a hundred.

SPEAKER_03

You don't have a saddle 12 foot up.

SPEAKER_09

Sometimes that's all you gotta be. That's why you gotta be that's why I made me black. Sometimes you need to be in a tree.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I don't. I see. The hoid thing. Dude, that's a hoyt thing. It's a hoything. Okay, I get it.

SPEAKER_08

I did forget to mention that was about 10 foot higher than I've ever been in a tree. That was sticks were big. A little bit sketchy. Yeah. How high were you? It was like 35 feet.

SPEAKER_00

No, it was not. I already had that high. It was nothing there. It was five. Those are my sticks.

SPEAKER_03

Those are my sticks, and 35 foot tall. Okay. What is it? 30? You have eighters on it? 40?

SPEAKER_04

40. 40?

SPEAKER_03

30. What was it? 55? What is it? It might be 20. No, it's more than 20.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, so I will say, I think people miss, I'll say how high they are intrigued. They do. They're not near as high as they think they are. 20's high.

SPEAKER_03

20's high.

SPEAKER_05

That's what I'm saying. That's why 20 is high.

SPEAKER_03

The telephone line on the telephone pole is 18. Because I'm only about 25.

SPEAKER_04

How tall are your sticks? That's about where I caught it. It's 20 foot. I got three.

SPEAKER_03

I I think it's three steps per stick. So they're table. So it's probably three foot sticks, three and a half foot sticks.

SPEAKER_05

So you got four of them. That's only 12 foot technically. You sprace them out.

SPEAKER_08

No, there's five of them. And you space them out. And then my platform.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, you put a platform on top of my platform.

SPEAKER_07

You put your platform on top of them. Correct. We need to make a compilation of all the times we've tried to do math at the table.

SPEAKER_09

You need to have that little calculation thing on the edit where it's like calculating all the numbers and stuff.

SPEAKER_07

It would be like 40 minutes long of us like. I think the answer is 12.

Misses, String Jumping, and Target Practice

SPEAKER_03

No, 20 foot. I mean, I mean 20 foot in the tree is that's that's pretty tall. It was more than 20 foot, though. It was more than 20 feet. You put a tape measure on it? Did you measure? We can. We can see that.

SPEAKER_07

So when you're up there in a tree and you're and you're and you shoot a deer, what is your like what is your process look like like when you aim? Do you aim for like the back leg? Or do you aim for like where it's gonna exit? Back leg? No, no, no. No, no, no. The back leg that's oh the back shit, you know, the back side of the deer. The back side of the deer. The other front leg. The back front leg. I thought you was aiming for the back leg. Like, why would she aim for the back leg? Why would you aim for the back leg? You got a good trick? No, I don't have a trick. I just said her, I just said it wrong.

SPEAKER_05

Well, my wife did that last year. She shot the back leg. Remember? Because she thought it was the first deer hunting. She was like, she was like she thought that was the kill Missouri. And they were like, we like aim for the shoulder. I got you. So I did. All she seen was the butt, which looks like shoulder to her in the crosshairs. It was zoomed up to like 14. Oh shot shot in the butt.

SPEAKER_07

That's how I killed my first deer, too.

SPEAKER_08

I had a butt shot one in the butt last year, killed it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Dad did that uh a couple years ago in archery season. It was an artery or something. I did. And I walked up and said, You get a good shot? He said, right behind the shoulder. I swear, dude. It was right or in the crease of the butt, dude.

SPEAKER_09

I've noticed that with Bo sometimes. Like you'll think you actually shot a deer. Good. And then you'll walk up on it and you know, find the deer, and it's like it'd be different. I do not remember hitting that deer right there. Like, even when you see it sometimes, I noticed that a couple times. I wonder why.

SPEAKER_07

Like, do you think it's either because maybe your arrow it could might kick over some or you're it's the way you're it's the way the deer's facing you a lot of times.

SPEAKER_03

Like last night I was in a blind and there was a little A point there, and he was facing me, but he's quartered to me just a little bit. It makes a big difference. Yeah. Makes a big difference. I wanted to. I text Ashley, I text Ashley and says, Man, I want to shoot really bad. And she goes, LOL. That means don't shoot.

SPEAKER_07

That means she's already laughing.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I was like hoping she would say, like, uh sure, babe. If you want to shoot it, shoot it. Just get it over with. She goes, LOL. I'm like, what kind of bullshit answer is that? I'm gonna go home and put my phone down. Now I can be respected. You know. I tested it though. I I wanted to see what she said, but she said lol. That means no, don't she? You know how the women thing do. No. They just won't tell you the truth.

SPEAKER_07

You gotta tell them the history too behind that, dude. Ain't just that deer retarded. Well, I was in my front yard. You have a there's a big deal. You have a running history here of clapping questionable dude.

SPEAKER_03

Where are you going with this?

SPEAKER_07

Clapping questionable. Yeah, I was trying to figure out what he's gonna hear. I don't know if you know what he's gonna do. You're not a good deer hunter. No, he's a good deer hunter. Kills them. But mom's making fun of you for some of the deer you've killed.

SPEAKER_03

I don't even know why she's making fun of me because she's already missed it.

SPEAKER_07

She did, but I'm just saying. But we don't talk shit about your mom, though.

SPEAKER_10

Don't do that. We don't talk shit about mom.

SPEAKER_07

She cooked and everything else. She's been wearing me out to get her a deer target, like a Flindale deer target. And I'm like, everywhere I've been, they just got those little cheap ones that break after like a week and a half. I have one at my house.

SPEAKER_06

Well, she, you know, the arrows out of.

SPEAKER_05

Well, let me tell you. I've never shot it. He's literally just laid down in my yard.

SPEAKER_03

Let me tell you a story about Ashley, though. She she did practice all year, right? And we got this buck on camera. He's coming to he's coming to the bait pile, you know, all the time. And he's probably a 130, 125-ish. I mean, it's not giant, but still a good buck. Yeah, and so it was we had three spots. We got three spots on the place that we were probably a high percentage kill, right? So we put, you know, you always put the one, you know, Ashley, the mama, whatever, wife, whatever, in the best spot possible, right? So we want to get that shit over with, you know. So all right, we're gonna put you in the space. We're gonna put you in the best spot. Let's get this shit over with, let's get a deer kill. Then uh we do our own thing, you know. So we put her in a high, you know, high percentage spot, and deer walks out, and I was sitting in my stand and you know, my own business and shit, not seeing nothing. And my phone rings. I'm like, she's calling me. I was like, she done missed something. You know, so she calls me. I said, What? She goes, she got my text. I'm like, no, because you're calling me. She goes, I missed. I was like, really? You missed? She goes, I missed. And she's so mad, so upset. I said, Well, you didn't shoot your bow at all.

SPEAKER_02

You know?

SPEAKER_03

So then she realized, okay, well, maybe it is my fault, you know. So now she's been You gotta shoot your bow. Yeah, she's been shooting that bow. Yeah, so she didn't shoot her bow all year. And uh she let the deer walk out and see no big old pile of nut rub there, and he was really scared, really panicking, you know. So you know, she didn't let and I went with her the day before, and deer walked out, and you gotta let the deer calm down. You can't just shoot because they're gonna jump the string. Yeah, well, she got excited and she drew back and she shot and and and he ducked and jumped her jumped her string, you know. And uh she goes, I don't think I hit it because I heard my arrow going through the trees. So so she has been shooting her bow a little bit, trying to get ready, you know. So she's been trying to get a bow target. So I don't know why she don't order off Amazon because she's obviously good at it.

SPEAKER_09

I like them little dice targets. Yeah, you can carry them everywhere, throwing them. But the problem with the dice target are nice.

SPEAKER_03

The problem with the dice target though, and you know, you need you need to shoot something, you want to see you know, yeah, you need to shoot something that you're gonna be used to seeing in the woods. You know, as chocolate, he knows. Yeah, you know, you you know you start shooting a little square block, yeah. When you see that in the woods, you're not gonna see that. Yeah. So um, so she definitely needs a dear target to shoot, you know. I'm even happy to my dice.

SPEAKER_04

And see, that's what happened. Me and Jake, honestly, we heard we caught we ended actually missed, so we wanted to feel good. Make her feel good, yeah, yeah.

Cameras, Editing, and Gear Wars: Canon vs Sony

SPEAKER_03

You know, and I agree. You know, I think we all should miss be perfect. You know, we got me and B Scott left.

SPEAKER_07

And then as soon as I start all the guys and mom started sending in, hey, I missed. And next thing I know, I missed. Next thing I know, I'm like, guys, shut up, dude. Everyone's in this group. Yeah. Can we not just forget about it? You know, I gotta deal with this.

SPEAKER_03

Was this last weekend? Yeah, yeah. Did you give him hell? Oh, yeah. I tell you what, it's the Matthews though. Wait, wait. He was gonna talk shit in that great message until he realized Ashley was in that message.

SPEAKER_02

So he couldn't go too crazy. Yeah, you know, I can only say a little bit, you know. I was like, calm about it.

SPEAKER_07

You know, yeah, it's like good roasting there, though, I'm sure, just cooking. He's ready for it. He just couldn't release it.

SPEAKER_05

Well, it kept adding up every time every time they were talking, somebody was missing. Yeah. That's one of those things. It's hard, it's hard. I'm serious.

SPEAKER_07

I called dad right away when I seen all I'm like, well, we're gonna have a council meeting by that. What the hell is going on?

SPEAKER_03

Beach guys like, we're gonna.

SPEAKER_07

I'm like, Daryl sabotage everybody check your sights.

SPEAKER_03

Beach guy's like, we're gonna have to kick some people off the house.

SPEAKER_07

He's trimming fledges and shit. I know it. It was bad, man. It was. It was. So then I cut chops. I was like, okay, you can get serious. So I cut some like absol wicked chops, dude. Wicked. And then we had a meeting the next day I had to cut them.

SPEAKER_03

No, he walked in with the damn chops. I'm like, dude, you know we got a big meeting. You know, yeah, it wasn't a small meeting.

SPEAKER_04

I think let's let's uh I mean a dude with a meeting had a mustache that rolled up. Yeah, I was like, it was gangsta.

SPEAKER_07

I definitely could gangster. I definitely couldn't like him. I like it. I'll do it. Like, come on now. Didn't Jake say he was gonna do it. I'm for sure rolling out at some point this hunting season. I would too.

SPEAKER_03

I seen that shit. I'm like, dude. Cut it. I think you should do it.

SPEAKER_07

We had a pretty important meeting. I probably should, you know, it's probably a good thing I cut him.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Or, you know, just wait until.

SPEAKER_03

Like, oh, who is he? Oh, that's my son.

SPEAKER_07

It could have been what sealed the deal. You never know. I feel like a guy with chops like that, you know, he's probably intimidated by that person. He's probably you don't really care what people think, you know. He's a doer. Yeah, he's a get or donner. Yeah, that's what do it or don't do it. I don't care. He ain't about he ain't about to talk. You know, he's gonna walk it, you know. Yeah. With chops like that. That's a good little, that's a good little line there. I'm just saying. So who's uh um I didn't come up with it, I'm sure.

SPEAKER_05

Who runs your social?

SPEAKER_06

She I run the social. Who does all the videos? You do the videos.

SPEAKER_10

I do the videos, yes. And then he I send the video I send the videos to him. I made a couple of them.

SPEAKER_04

I made a couple of things. You know why he don't make the videos? She don't let him use her camera.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, she don't trust me. He used it last weekend. He took he kept it on the whole time.

SPEAKER_09

It started raining on us.

SPEAKER_10

He was like, I had to hurry up and take it up, put it in the little um case. I said, Well, you didn't turn it off. So I didn't want to.

SPEAKER_09

It's got that little night mode. You really want to do that. Yeah, but I mean, so yeah. At least I put it on the boat.

SPEAKER_10

I'm pretty protective over it though.

SPEAKER_04

So when we went and picked up Whitney's boat, we was kind of trying to coordinate on making a video while we were there. He's like, Man, I can ask Laura if I can take her camera.

SPEAKER_02

What are you scared of?

SPEAKER_01

I can ask her, but I don't know what she's gonna say. Are you scared of her?

SPEAKER_09

I'll ask my mom.

SPEAKER_03

Are you scared of her? Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_09

Why is she mean?

SPEAKER_01

Whatever.

SPEAKER_09

No, I'm just kidding. She ain't mean, but she is. She loves her camera stuff. She's good at it. I don't know how great at what she does. So you can't.

SPEAKER_05

She controls a couple other things too. Yeah. She's happy. Yeah. That's right.

SPEAKER_00

She has a good hold on you.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah. Especially with the uh camera stuff. That's she's put a lot of eggs into that basket. It also saves you a lot of money. She don't want you missing. Hey, I'm good with stuff though. Like I take care of it.

SPEAKER_10

But whenever we first started, uh, we were making some videos. They were so cringy. We have like a little YouTube video. It's like an old YouTube video. I forgot about them. Well, no one's probably gonna find it. Hopefully not. But they're so cringy. Don't look for it now.

SPEAKER_07

But they're how it evolves. It's funny how it evolves. They're funny. It's like 2018.

SPEAKER_10

They're funny, I will say that. Boy.

SPEAKER_05

What kind of camera do y'all shoot?

SPEAKER_10

Our first boat would look like uh Canon. R6.

Relationships, Origin Story, and Humor

SPEAKER_07

Why do you look at me like that? I know. Y'all look at me. Why are you scared at me? I don't actually care about that.

SPEAKER_01

What do you have to say about their camera?

SPEAKER_07

You made straight eye contact.

SPEAKER_01

I just asked. If it ain't just like here, it's a piece of shit. I just wanted to get a lot of things.

SPEAKER_10

I will say Sony. Sony's good too. I like canon.

SPEAKER_09

You posted on your store, was that a Sony? Yeah, yeah, we just got Sony's. We got Canons too.

SPEAKER_05

Is it an A7? Uh yeah, A74. They were a good camera, so and then we got a Canon R5s too. They were really good cameras.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I had a Canon R5 Mark II. Yeah, he had the now I got Sony, I don't even know how to run it.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I just R5s are like the top of the line, aren't they? Yeah. Well, I had R5. My wife took it too. She has R5. Same same deal, pretty much the same thing over here. Like the MacBook.

SPEAKER_07

I guess it's sign out the MacBook. That's pretty much how I am. Exactly.

SPEAKER_09

I had to sign out everything. She tells me the password of the MacBook to kind of get some content, and then she changes the password, so I have to ask her again.

SPEAKER_10

She has terrible memory. That's the bad memory.

SPEAKER_09

I bought an R5 password. But no, she texted me. No, I don't have bad memory because you texted me the password and I tried to do it again a week later. And that password didn't work a week later. She changed the password after I got the camera.

SPEAKER_10

You mistyped it, honey.

SPEAKER_09

I could have done that.

SPEAKER_05

I bought all this camera stuff. My wife took it over and all that. And then I took the camera one time again, hunting, and then she took it back and went and did a photo shoot. Well, then she couldn't find our SD card holder and she started blaming me. You lost it. I'm like, I promise I didn't lose it. I promise I didn't lose it. She's like, no, it's you. Well, long story short, like two months later, she finds it in an old purse of hers. The SD would also have a few. Oh, really?

SPEAKER_07

I'm like, huh. And then you got like a position where you can take the high rib. Yeah, like, yeah, it's okay. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

You can't do that though.

SPEAKER_07

You just gotta walk away.

SPEAKER_05

Good choice. Good choice. You gotta say something.

SPEAKER_06

You gotta one up just a little bit. Just a little bit.

SPEAKER_05

I mean, I definitely I told you. You gotta say that. And then you break it out.

SPEAKER_09

Then you run out the door.

SPEAKER_03

Why is that though? Why? How come you can't say nothing to her? You scared? I mean, she controls something.

SPEAKER_10

Women are always right. They're always right.

SPEAKER_07

She runs the house. What's up? Tim, you know. Nothing wrong with her. Yeah, I mean, you just talk about what you're doing. I like coming home to the city. Sometimes it's not worth it, man.

SPEAKER_03

Older you get, you're like, whatever.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, you pick your battles, you know. Yeah. What battle do I really want to fight? For what reason? Like, what would I get out of doing it? It's like, this is not even worth it. You don't get nothing to do with it. And I can for sure.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, you don't, man. Like nothing but consequential. Women will lose their shit. You're like, what the fuck? I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Whatever.

SPEAKER_07

Can I go back like five minutes before I said anything? Can I just wash this? Can we just please not do this?

SPEAKER_03

Can I just wash the damn dishes and get this over with? You know, what do I need to do? He was just leave me alone. I'll do chores for two weeks.

SPEAKER_04

I called Tim one day. I said, What are you doing? Oh, mopping floors. It's worse. He said, No, you're not. He said, I swear I'm mopping the floors.

SPEAKER_05

I'm mopping the damn floors, man. It's worse when you tell your buddies they call you, and you're like, doing dishes. Doing laundry. You just lie. I definitely lie. Oh, that's what I was about to say.

SPEAKER_07

Not too much trees out there or drinking mirror.

SPEAKER_10

Dishes in the background.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I'm actually washing my hands. I just cut about four trees down. Here she comes. Are you done with those dishes yet? That's all you in the background. Yeah. You put them on uh you mute them, you're like, baby. Don't bust me out like that. Yeah, don't be.

SPEAKER_03

I thought we had uh, you know, you you understand all this shit. You can't be saying that shit.

SPEAKER_07

Because they nothing worse than you know getting busted by your old lady in front of your buddies. It's like, in my regards, I gotta go.

SPEAKER_04

She tries to do it. She tries to bust me out in front of my buddies. Oh, she does it.

SPEAKER_03

I think your old lady just loves that shit. She has a good time with it. She does. I've noticed that. Good for her.

SPEAKER_08

That's good for her.

SPEAKER_05

I feel like she deserves to do that. Yeah, dude.

SPEAKER_08

She does. We gotta keep you humble, Shah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

So she definitely does that.

SPEAKER_08

Gotta keep your head at a carryable size.

SPEAKER_04

Like whenever I say something funny, I know it's funny, and she'll she'll tell, don't laugh.

SPEAKER_03

Shit ain't funny. She's tough on you though, though. Yeah, she is. She is tough on you.

SPEAKER_07

It's a good thing, though. You know, like you need that. No, it's a good thing.

SPEAKER_03

The whole time you're like, you know, when you come over to the house and I listen to you guys, I'm thinking, when you leave, I'm thinking, damn, if I was married to her, what the hell would I do? Like, she's tough. Yeah, she's bad tough. Are you tough on Noah? I mean, you you you uh keep him in line.

SPEAKER_10

Oh, for sure. Every day. What do you think?

SPEAKER_03

Does he do stupid shit like the rest of us?

SPEAKER_10

Uh, give or take.

SPEAKER_06

Sometimes I'm mature, sometimes.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, it depends on the day. Really? That's for sure.

SPEAKER_07

Still learning.

Deer Goals, Weird Racks, and Doe Ethics

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, so he's still learning.

SPEAKER_07

Never stops. Never stops. Yeah, how long y'all been married?

SPEAKER_10

Two years. Two and two. Two years or so. How'd y'all meet? Two and a half.

SPEAKER_09

Uh, we met in middle school. Oh, wow. That was a long time. We dated in middle school school.

SPEAKER_10

Not together since middle school, but we dated in middle school.

SPEAKER_06

And um how did it go? Like, dated in middle school. No, I think we checked yes. No, he met at the bookstore. I gave my buddy a little note. You know, will you go out with me or whatever?

SPEAKER_09

And he gave it to her. No kidding. Yeah. Yeah. And then the worst part is is you know how the middle school relationships are. So I don't remember. It's been like five years old.

SPEAKER_04

I used to do the same shit because I was shy in school.

SPEAKER_09

You had to like but at middle school, it's kind of you got to. But look, so I uh did that, and by you know, a month later, you know, then little middle school relationships don't work out.

SPEAKER_10

You just you kind of yeah.

SPEAKER_09

So uh I remember I was asking a buddy, I was like, man, I just I don't think I'm feeling anymore. So I'm just like, all right, I'm just gonna break up with her. And I was like, how should I do it? We're on the bus, you know, going back to the house probably for a little play date or something. And I'm like, like, I don't know. I guess I'm just gonna text it to her. So I said something along the lines of you're not my type. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I don't remember this part though.

SPEAKER_09

I remember because my dad. So I say that and something else, of course, and I get back home, and um, you know, I think those were those little what are they called? The flip phones of Monsterella.

SPEAKER_10

The razorella. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_09

Same motorbrot, same thing. They work the same. But uh what the hell are we dumb about? But look, so I get home and my parents asked me, they were like, I guess they asked me how my day went. I was like, pretty good. I broke up with Lauren. They were like, did you at least like get you know in person? And I was like, no, I texted, and they were like, they were like they said, let me see your phone. So look, my dad sees my phone, and he's like, he looks at it and he starts like like he could his face just looked a little like he was like, and then he kind of like popped a grin. He was like, I bet her dad is so happy that you are no longer dating her. And I was like, huh? And he was like, you misspelled every single word. And he still does to this day. I remember this. I spelled type T-I-P-E. You are not my type. That's how I spelled it. T-I-P-E.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah, and then uh he gave me his mom's number, not his number either.

SPEAKER_09

Oh, I forgot my number. This is middle school, dude. We're like, what?

SPEAKER_04

You can't make 11 years old, dude. You can't make this up. Me and Tim didn't have this luxury. We didn't make it. No, we didn't have cell phones. We didn't have cell phones.

SPEAKER_03

We had to do it in person. Y'all had them little No, I passed notes.

SPEAKER_09

No, you passed Typewriters. Y'all use typewriters.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah. We didn't have cell phones back then. 12 pins, you know? Yeah, pins. Sitting with ridiculous cell phones. It was like, what was it? Like a I was already out of high school. Yeah, I was in high school too. Yeah, I had a bag phone in high school. I remember my first phone was a pink razor. Pink razor.

SPEAKER_04

Them razors was badass.

SPEAKER_03

Hey, they were. So, anyways, y'all broke up, right? Uh-huh. So, how long was it until you get back together?

SPEAKER_10

2018, we were in college.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, y'all went to college together? No, I didn't get back to college.

SPEAKER_01

He missed part of middle school.

SPEAKER_10

He didn't just he still misspelled stuff.

SPEAKER_05

I'm bad about it. I'm I'm too lazy to go back and fix it. Like, once I start typing his misspelling, I'm gonna figure it out. I didn't go out of it.

SPEAKER_04

I just worse than anybody in here. I'm like figuring out. I gotta look at Daryl's every once in a while. I don't know if y'all ever got it.

SPEAKER_08

I think I got it. Tim's problem is he texts too fast.

SPEAKER_07

His is not spelling, it's he's missing.

SPEAKER_05

I'd be leaving words out and shit. Yeah, yeah. I just don't feel like going back changes. Like, if I had to, I can like if I send an email, I'll like sit down. I'll get right with like some serious.

SPEAKER_03

I'll take somebody, I'll take somebody some shit, right? And you always hit the send button, then you go back and read it, right? Then you edit it. Then then I edit it, then I send somebody like and then I can't edit it. I was like, oh fuck it, they'll figure it out.

SPEAKER_06

No, you know, but you gotta add always add words to it, you know what I'm saying?

SPEAKER_09

Oh god, I can't understand Frank's text. Oh, yeah, yeah. Like Frank's, it'll be like, what? And I'll be like, I'll just call him. I'll be like, I was gonna do it.

SPEAKER_07

I'll call him like I'm never gonna get this out of him.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, yeah.

Logistics: Golf Then Deer, Plans and Wrap

SPEAKER_04

Sometimes you just call somebody. But I do the same shit too. And tell them a text, I'll I'll be edited and he'll he'll say, I know what you meant. I'll do the same thing. I knew what you're doing.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I don't even say half the fucking words.

SPEAKER_09

It's like what did I just text? Sure, got back together in college. So we got back together in college and uh been together. No, she she was in college.

SPEAKER_10

Uh he was in welding school.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, I did a little welding type school, and uh we've been together, that was 2018. So what's that? Who shot seven years? That one was that one uh who uh I guess has to go out or whatever. Oh, that was me. That was me.

SPEAKER_10

Yeah.

SPEAKER_09

Hey, she added me on Snapchat.

SPEAKER_10

I did add him on Snapchat at the start of that.

SPEAKER_02

Could you imagine if we had Snapchat?

SPEAKER_07

She loves his face. She's like, she's like 10 years ago, I wasn't your type. Yeah, I was like, maybe I'll try again. And the thing is, Noah City like, got him.

SPEAKER_05

I knew she'd come back.

SPEAKER_10

He posted a picture of his dog, and I was like, you know what? I clicked on his profile and I was like, I'll add him on Snapchat.

SPEAKER_09

He said, maybe maybe I'm his type now. Hey, that's so shit.

SPEAKER_10

And then he snapchat at me, and then we've been talking ever since.

SPEAKER_04

That's why your dad says something whenever he seen the text when you broke up with her. He thought you were.

SPEAKER_09

Oh, he thought it was so funny that second time. I was like, Dad, dad. I was like, you'll never believe who I'm uh talking to or dating. I can't remember what I said at the time, but he was like, who? And I was like, you remember that girl that I texted and broke up with and misspelled all the words? He was like, No. I was like, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

We back, baby. We back. We back.

SPEAKER_07

That's so funny, dude. It's funny how I made a big loop like that, though. Oh yeah. Hey, everything works out on the end. That's right. Always does. Yeah, you probably wouldn't have got another chance if you didn't stick out so much by spelling everything wrong. Right, exactly. She was like, that's the dude who misspelled it. Well, at least I mean you have to like a least she knows you can't spell.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Right. She knew she was getting to. And she's okay with it, right? Yeah. She's like, I'm in college, I'll help you. Don't worry. I'll help you.

SPEAKER_07

It's funny, dude. Goodness gracious. Man, I'm just ready for the cool weather. Me too. I'm ready for cool weather. And I'm ready for the deer to act right. Start coming out during the daytime. I mean, they are a little bit, but the big bucks. I'm trying to kill a big buck this year, and I'm way behind schedule. I should already be two. Two in. I'm zero in. I'm ready to shoot some ducks. I am. You seen that one buck? Are you talking about the one in uh duck yet? Like the big big? No, like. The one that she was showing me. Oh, no, I ain't seen him, dude. We gotta get him. We gotta get some content in his head. I haven't seen him in probably like two weeks, though. He's like a big fork on one side and just like a giant just spike. But he's wide, like he's super big. Super, super big. He's past his ears, probably like, I don't know, two or three inches on each side. I love deer like that. You like that? I love weird deer.

SPEAKER_03

You like that junkie deer.

SPEAKER_07

Weird deer are awesome.

SPEAKER_03

I love it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Dude. It's got character. Imagine just shoulder mount. I like does. Does?

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

What is this?

SPEAKER_05

Silent run.

SPEAKER_07

They eat good. They do eat good. I don't even know what you're doing. I got kids. They eat those. They're a confidence boost for sure.

SPEAKER_08

Why would you I don't know. I like it. The bucks are cool, but the does. I like shooting those. Yeah, I like shooting does.

SPEAKER_05

They come down with volley gagging. Especially when they like that.

SPEAKER_04

I like it when you gonna go deer hunting, Daryl. Or when they snort and then you shoot. Oh, yeah. That's the most satisfying.

SPEAKER_09

As soon as they blow.

SPEAKER_08

Dude, I'll go in, not wanting to shoot a deer unless it's a buck, and then a doe will snort at me.

SPEAKER_05

I can go looking for does. It pisses me off. Oh yeah. I'm so mad.

SPEAKER_03

Rubs me the wrong way. See, the older you get, you don't shoot shit unless you know somebody's around that can help you. Yeah. All right. Hold on. I can shoot this deer, but I gotta drag it myself. I gotta clean it myself. Oh fuck down.

SPEAKER_05

Well that's why I hadn't been down with that. I know I know that's zero, yeah, zero like holding back if a doe walks in, but I don't want to mess with a deer right now. So I can't even go deer hunting off. Well, I don't want to go right now. Well, you text me.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, I sent you some pictures of some deer, right? And you're like, well, shoot one. I'm like, no, I'm gonna wait till you're here. I'm not shooting that deer.

SPEAKER_05

I'm gonna do all the work while you're gonna be like, I'm just out here sitting here. I know as soon as I can understand, if the first one walks out, I don't care if it's barely got spots off of it. Clapped. Oh wow.

SPEAKER_09

I'm the same way, especially in the wintertime. So nobody's nobody's killing.

SPEAKER_03

So nobody's killed a deer. We're not gonna call it last year. Shockley killed that butt. Did you bring a bow with you?

SPEAKER_10

Hmm?

SPEAKER_03

Do you bring a bow? You didn't bring nothing? We should have him. Yeah, we should have gone golfing after this. We still can. We got his I guess. We have golf clubs.

SPEAKER_07

Who's ready for? Jake's upset. I'm gonna call Bailey up. I can tell by his face he don't have his stuff. I don't. And that right there was a big issue. I could have took it. Everything. Everything. A week playing. I literally read his eyes. I can read his eyes. A week. That's a level playing for.

SPEAKER_05

We could East Camden real quick.

SPEAKER_03

The golf club. Play nine. Y'all want to play golf? I got some clubs. We can literally go play.

SPEAKER_05

You want to go to East Camden? East Camden. That's the first place where it's like nothing.

SPEAKER_03

Easy. It's easy. Shockley's thinking, shit. Where's my clubs? Me and Tyler Stewart were playing.

SPEAKER_07

Me and Tyler Stewart were playing East Camden. I just got him back. And I hit a shot, dude. I'm talking about the best ball I've ever hit. Well, you're getting a built. And I'm like, dude, that's that's good. He's like, that's the best shot you've hit all day. We go up there, and I can't find exactly my ball, right? And then I look way up the fairway, like right off the green, and I'm like, there's a ball up there. Is that my ball? Tyler broke your heart, didn't he? No, he's like, dang, dude, you think that's your ball? And I'm like, I for sure that's my ball. You know? No matter when you get there, it's your ball regardless. Yeah, we used it. It had some dried-up dirt on it.

SPEAKER_03

We used it, it was birdie. Y'all should go play golf, man. Y'all, you come to the city.

SPEAKER_07

See, you just cut himself out. See, who does that?

SPEAKER_03

You're the one with clubs. I'm gonna loan them out. Kids are custom, though. And you go too short. I'm not playing no damn golf. You got the club and the cart. Dude. I'll drive the damn golf cart. I got the dirt box.

SPEAKER_05

I got the music.

SPEAKER_03

Hey, I'll bring some beer.

SPEAKER_09

So we're gonna be there. We can go golfing or get Lauren on her first deer. Hey, I know a spot.

SPEAKER_05

You can do both. Hey. Hey. I do no spot with Dose. I think that'd be. Is it in Camera?

SPEAKER_03

I got her, I got her sick in the truck. You uh all she has to do, hey, if you come to the house, put you in a blind, you'll shoot an eight point tonight.

SPEAKER_09

Oh yeah, you will for sure, 100%. Y'all got a bow? Yeah. You got a crossbow. Crossbow work, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

No, I'm we put you in a crowd. Are you allowed to use a crossbow in Arkansas?

SPEAKER_05

Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Yeah. We can golf and then you still can shoot the deer. By the time you get done golfing, it's time to go get in the blind.

SPEAKER_03

You gonna go golf and kill a deer today? I don't care. I mean we can put you in a blind.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, we can we can knock them both out. Easy. Alright, mom. You want to kill a deer tonight? The Raven ready to cook.

SPEAKER_03

Y'all want to y'all can stay at the house if y'all want to? It's a great guest bed.

SPEAKER_07

We can cook some food tonight, too.

SPEAKER_03

Y'all want to cook tonight?

SPEAKER_10

Sounds good to me.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we'll get you on the book. We'll get you on the deer tonight. Kill you tonight. Lord did not know she was gonna come in today. No deer. Yeah. You better text your mom and tell her to get some food cooking.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I'll let her know. I'd actually rather you do that.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah. You know what's so bad about that? I'd rather you do it.

SPEAKER_07

I'd rather you do it.

SPEAKER_03

I thought you were my damn wing. I'll do it. Hey, listen, dude. I'm also scared of her, but I mean, texting my hair. Who's not scared of Ashley at this table?

SPEAKER_05

I mean, I'm not telling her. Yeah. I'm not gonna give her an assignment. Crazy, dude. That's like me too.

SPEAKER_07

I was like, I don't tell her nothing.

SPEAKER_03

I've been married to her for 20, 27 years. It's a long time. Yeah, I know where I need to go. I'm gonna get my own wife assignments. I ask questions. Oh shit. Yeah, man. You guys come to the house. You're welcome. We'll put you on the deer. It's in the front yard. We'll watch you.

SPEAKER_09

Your neighborhood deer are fun.

SPEAKER_03

And they grow, man. Especially in the side okay last night I watched six bucks. The six right there. Matter of fact, they're all eating together. They're they're fighting each other. They didn't even know it. There's clean people.

SPEAKER_07

This is a bay pile and they're all just like they're they're all eating out of it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we'll get you in the deer. No problem.

SPEAKER_10

No problem at all.

SPEAKER_03

No problem. Just shoot it through.

SPEAKER_10

You ready, Lord? I don't know.

SPEAKER_07

We gotta wrap it. Well, we're gonna have to wrap this up then because we're gonna we got some ground to cover. Yeah, what time? It's got cameras.

SPEAKER_09

We got cameras? Time is short.

SPEAKER_07

Yes, we do. Oh yeah, yeah, we got camera camera.

SPEAKER_09

We came unprepared, super big, but hey. It's okay.

SPEAKER_07

Just like y'all we're now doing. We usually stay ready because that's usually Daryl.

unknown

What?

SPEAKER_07

Look at him. He's looking at you're usually the one that ain't got stuff.

SPEAKER_05

Oh I always got stuff. Just not the right stuff? But the right stuff.

SPEAKER_07

I mean, that's it to be the eye of the beholder, I guess. Alright, well. I got the clothes usually, just not the equipment. I guess we're fixing a call. It's gonna be a party. Woo! Who all right? We gotta figure out though who's getting drinks, who's grabbing clubs.

SPEAKER_08

We can do all of our Tim and Tim. Tim as well.

SPEAKER_07

All right, Tim, you go ahead and Tim. Tim, Tim, Tim's house.

SPEAKER_05

Tim's like the clubs. Golf cards. How are we gonna do it? We're gonna do teams. Well, they have golf carts there we can rent too. Yeah, it's so much easier to probably rent them. It is definitely.

SPEAKER_03

So y'all playing golf today and shooting the deer? Are y'all talking about clubs? Yeah, we're fighting. What time is it? 1250. Oh, yeah. Y'all go play golf quick and I'll get the deer ready. Y'all in.

SPEAKER_10

We're only gonna play golf. I'll get the deer ready.

SPEAKER_03

I'll take the deer.

SPEAKER_05

Well, we gotta get her clothes. You need to take her clothes and send them away.

SPEAKER_03

Oh. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Probably. Or somebody does. Hey, what's the wind?

SPEAKER_07

Is it gonna be a good win for the blind?

SPEAKER_03

Uh we need it. We really need a north wind, but we can do without.

SPEAKER_07

Is it not a north wind?

SPEAKER_03

I don't think so. It's a blind. All right. It works. We're good. We got some camo dust. Yeah, we got some sick cushions.

SPEAKER_07

It's gonna be good, dude. It's gonna be good. So y'all stay tuned. All right. Potentially bad, bad golf going on over here. Bad, bad golf, and maybe maybe the deer. We're gonna get some content with Rowdy Creek.

SPEAKER_03

Get some content with Rowdy Creek, playing some golf, and we're gonna get him on some deer today and and uh let Miss Ashley cook some food, maybe. So it'll be a good time. Leave a like, subscribe, bring that bell. We might be ordering pizza.

SPEAKER_00

Pitch on it.
