Life Activated

Navigating Life's Twists on the Quest for Passion

Life Activated Season 5 Episode 8

In the finale of season 5 I take you through an intimate solo episode where I reveal life's unexpected pivots. Together, we explore the idea that life's finales are merely preludes to our next grand symphony. I recall the moments of clarity that altered my course: embarking on an anthropology and sociology adventure, living across the diverse landscapes of America, and taking cues from the voices that highlighted my strengths. There are no guests, no distractions—just a heart-to-heart, encouraging you to listen to those inner pings that beckon you toward a passion-filled existence. Join me on this reflective voyage as we celebrate the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new one.

In this episode, I discuss:

  • Reflecting back on season 5
  • The end of one journey is the beginning of a new one
  • My career path
  • Paying attention and listening to life’s cues

You deserve to have the life that you desire. Your passions are a part of you for a reason, and when you don't follow your passions or listen to your call, things can get rough. You don't have to take some massive, intimidating leap. One small step each day leads to lasting change. So let's get started by accepting our passions are here in the first place, because this is life activated. I'm your host and guide, Mari, here to help you recenter life on your passions and purpose, so you can feel good inside, because you deserve it.

I cannot believe we are at the end of season five already. Oh my Lord. This episode came to me just as I was really processing and thinking about how do I want to end season five? What do I want to share and talk about? And the thing that came up was this message what if the end is just the beginning? What if the end is just the beginning? And every time I say it, I want to cry. I want to cry and maybe you've experienced this feeling before where something is said to you I've had this with clients as well and when you hear the message or someone says the thing and you instantly want to cry and you don't know why a mentor of mine years ago shared with me that when that happens, it's your soul recognizing truth. So this is our truth right now. This is the truth. What if the end is just the beginning? And I truly would have never imagined my life, what it would look like. It definitely does not look like anything I could have imagined it to be, especially if I go back to my childhood.

I think I thought I wanted to be a nurse at one point. I know I wanted to be a teacher at one point. Even in college I went for anthropology sociology, but before that I was what they called in. What do they call that? Liberal arts. There was a special liberal arts major at my school, at St Mary's College of Baraga, california. Hello, go, gales. And diversified liberal arts is what it was called, and that's the track you would take if you wanted to be a teacher. Well, needless to say, I did not like most of my classes, except for my anthropology class, hence why I became an anthropology sociology major. Anyway, I think it all fits, because what I do has to do with people, but I would have never, ever thought that my life would have led me even to that school, let alone to the major that I've had, nor would I have ever thought that I would have had the opportunities that I've had in life.

I've lived on Maui. I've lived in Atlanta, georgia, chicago, illinois. I've lived in the Pacific Northwest. I've lived in a lot of other places, a lot of other places. I have worked in really interesting and amazing fields. I was a social worker. If you didn't know, I was a social worker. I had a caseload of 40s, parenting and pregnant teens. It was wild. Another story for another day. I worked for Francis Ford Coppola at his winery. I worked in event planning and in human resources.

So many of these roles, some of these opportunities. I didn't even have the vision or the picture for myself of what they would be, let alone where they would take me in my life. And truly it had to do with the willingness to listen, willingness to listen to the pings, to the nudges, willingness to hear and pay attention to what people would say to me. You know, if enough people are saying it, if enough people are telling you something. Know if enough people are saying it. If enough people are telling you something, there might be something for you to explore. It might be worth you getting curious. You know if you have friends that keep telling you that you're a great problem solver, or that you're really good at X, y, z, or they're asking you human resource questions, or you're really good at XYZ, or they're asking you human resource questions, or you're their go-to for counseling and support. I'm not saying that that's the exact job or the exact role. I just want to invite you to be curious. Follow the pings and the nudges, follow the areas that are exciting you, that are lighting you up. It's truly worth exploring and for me, at times it's meant that I had to allow something to end so that a new door, a new beginning, could emerge. It's something that I do with my clients. When I look back and think about the work that I do, I help my clients navigate through their own changes, navigate through hearing their own intuition and trusting their passions and themselves.

And as we end this beautiful season, as we wrap up, I truly do hope that you have been inspired by all of the beautiful guests that were on the Life Activated podcast this season and if you haven't listened, please I want to encourage you, go back and listen to the episodes, because you are going to be hearing about their journeys, who they are, how they got to where they were, how they listened to themselves, how they show up as who they are, and I hope that it empowers you and inspires you. I hope that you, hearing about my life updates and my journey and where things are now, will inspire you to take a step, maybe even close a door and allow a new door to open, trusting that you are going to be held, trusting in yourself, knowing that when a door opens, even if it feels scary and hard, if you have the courage to move through it, the new beginning that's on the other side, god, if you don't allow yourself to experience it, to see it, to witness it, then what are we doing here? I mean, the whole point is for us to have life that is activated, to live the life that is activated, the life that is ours, that is yours, that you are here and deserve to live to the fullest. So this is my last musing for season five. Thank you for being here with me and being on the journey, and I want to put an invite out there.
