Broken But Redeemed Podcast!
Welcome to Broken But Redeemed — the podcast where we’re not afraid to go there. 🔥
I’m Erika — grateful believer in Jesus Christ, wife, mom, business owner — and someone who’s walked through brokenness and found freedom in God’s redeeming love.
Here, nothing’s off the table. We’re tackling the conversations most avoid: sex, purity, identity, gossip, forgiveness, fear, abortion, marriage — the real-life struggles that hit inside and outside the church. Believers, non-believers, sisters in Christ… this is for all of us.
Every episode is raw, unfiltered, and anchored in Scripture. 📖 Because opinions won’t heal us — God’s truth will.
So grab your coffee, bring your questions, and lean in. This is Broken But Redeemed — where truth meets grace, every story matters, and every heart finds hope. 🎙️✨🎧✨

EP10 - From Tradition to Transformation
💬 Show Notes
Welcome back to another soul-nourishing episode of Broken but Redeemed 🎙️.
I'm your host, Erika, and today, we are diving into a deeply personal journey of faith transformation. In this milestone 10th episode, I open up about my upbringing in the Catholic Church and the profound shift that occurred as I embraced the Christian faith.
Growing up, my family's Catholic traditions were more about rituals and gatherings than a personal connection with God. From attending church on special occasions to praying to saints, my early experiences were steeped in tradition but lacked the intimacy of a relationship with Jesus. I share candidly about how this backdrop shaped my initial understanding of faith and the pivotal moments that led me to seek something deeper.
In this episode, we explore three significant differences between my Catholic upbringing and my current Christian faith:
1. **Praying to Saints**: I discuss how I grew up praying to the Virgin Mary and other saints, believing they could intercede on my behalf. In contrast, my Christian faith teaches that through Jesus, we have direct access to God without needing intermediaries.
2. **Baptism**: I reflect on the tradition of infant baptism in the Catholic Church, which I followed with my own children, and how it contrasts with the believer's baptism in Christianity, symbolizing a personal decision to follow Christ.
3. **Confession and Penance**: I share my experiences with the sacrament of confession and how, as a Christian, I now confess my sins directly to God, embracing the forgiveness and grace He offers without human intermediaries.
This episode is a heartfelt testimony of moving from religious tradition to a personal, transformative relationship with God. Through Celebrate Recovery and the support of a loving Christian community, I found the peace, joy, and purpose that only a relationship with Jesus can provide.
So, pour yourself a cup of coffee, cozy up, and join me for a conversation that invites you to seek a deeper, more personal connection with God. Whether you're navigating your own faith journey or simply curious about the differences between Catholicism and Christianity, this episode offers insights and encouragement for all.
Remember, faith is about knowing God personally and experiencing His love daily. Thank you for letting me share my story, and I look forward to hearing yours.
