Episode 31 - The Algorithm and The Stories That Color Us

Today I talk about navigating the wild seas of digital news and information.  I view so much of the world through changing technology and how it affects all of us. 

We are all getting so much news that is catered to what we are biased towareds, and it allows us to build a house of cards in our minds that is constantly blown over by feedback we get from the world. 

I have developed a quick checklist when interacting with media

Here is my checklist when interacting with media:

1. Who is the person putting it out?
2. Are they reporting or commentating?
3. What is their beat? (What topic is their specialty)
4. What is their bias?
5. Are they authentic?
6. What is the format/platform?
7. What is the outlet, the editors, and who is paying them?
8. Are they knowledgeable?
9. What does their arc look like? (people change over time under public pressure)
