Growth Instigators Hotline

#290 That’s no longer serving your growth

Aaron Havens Season 3 Episode 290

Remember that gut-wrenching scene in Toy Story when Andy gives away his childhood toys? It's more than just a tearjerker moment—it's a powerful metaphor for the growth we're exploring today. What's one thing in your life right now that's no longer serving your development?

Growth requires intentional release. As Mary Conoto wisely observed, "The question of what you want to own is actually the question of how you want to live your life." This applies not just to physical possessions, but to our habits, calendar commitments, and thought patterns. Are your current routines actually moving you toward your goals? Is your thinking aligned with where you want to go? If not, it's time for a change.

Letting go creates space for alignment, and I'm sharing three practical strategies to help you begin this process today: identifying what's outdated in your life, naming the real costs of holding on, and intentionally replacing old patterns with new ones that better serve your direction. This isn't about dropping everything at once—it's about maturing with purpose and starting with just one thing. Whether you're feeling stuck personally or your organization is clinging to outdated systems, this episode offers a roadmap for moving forward. Ready to clear your path to growth? Listen now and discover what you might need to release to reach your next level of development.

It's that epic scene from Toy Story, yeah, that cheer-jerking scene when Andy takes a box of toys his toys and gives them away. Yep, time to grow up, blah. What's one thing in your life right now that's no longer serving your growth? Welcome to Message 290 of the Growth Instigators Hotline, where we ignite your personal and professional development. I'm Aaron Havens, your host and growth coach. Let's dive into today's insight Fulfillment Friday letting go of what no longer serves you. This message especially goes out to Matt from Houston, texas Author and speaker Mary Conoto once said the question of what you want to own is actually the question of how you want to live your life.

Speaker 1:

The same is true for what we keep in our habits, our calendars and our thinking. Are your habits something that will get you to where you want to go? How about your thinking? How about how you invest your time? If not, it's time to change it up.

Speaker 1:

Letting go is not just about removing clutter. It's about making space for alignment. This is your car to drive. Let's take control of the wheel.

Speaker 1:

Here are three practical ways to begin. One identify what's outdated. What are you still doing? Saying yes to or believing that no longer fits If it drains your energy adds confusion or pulls you out of alignment, it's time to question it. Number two name the cost. Holding on to something always costs you something Time, energy, margin, clarity. If it's robbing you of peace or purpose, it's probably no longer worth the price. And the third thought today is replace it with intention. Don't just remove, replace. What can you start doing that better matches your values and direction? What space are you now ready to fill with something more aligned?

Speaker 1:

This is about maturing, right? Well, when we put it that way, are you maturing in all ways, or are you holding on to the things, old things that served you back then? They just can't serve you now. It's time to move on. Letting go clears the path forward. You don't have to drop everything. Just start with one thing. Thank you for calling Growth Instigator's Hotline. May I make an ask?
