Growth Instigators Hotline
#299 Go slap life in the face!
Life often tests us with challenges, but developing a resilient growth mindset can transform setbacks into stepping stones for personal and professional development. Becoming is better than being, and the mindset we cultivate makes all the difference when facing life's inevitable difficulties.
• Normalize discomfort as part of growth – stretching feels awkward but that's formation, not failure
• Learn out loud by sharing mistakes and lessons – people respect leaders who are in process
• Celebrate progress instead of demanding perfection – look back on how far you've come
• Growth isn't always glamorous but always worth it
• Even on 1% energy days, reflection helps adjust your mindset for tomorrow
Connect with Aaron at growthinstigators.com to schedule a discovery call if you're feeling stuck or burned out. Sign up for free daily emails or take the three-minute leadership lesson assessment to continue instigating growth in all you do.
Raise your hand if life this week has been slapping you in the face. How do you keep growing when life keeps testing you? Welcome to message 299 of the Growth Instigators Hotline, where we ignite your personal and professional development. I'm Aaron Havens, your host and growth coach.
Speaker 1:Thrive and Grow Thursday developing a resilient growth mindset. Growth is exciting. Growth is amazing until it gets uncomfortable. Until the results take longer, until your plans hit resistance until there are so many details you actually know you are forgetting something, until you have to admit you can't keep up. That's when mindset makes all the difference.
Speaker 1:Carol Dwight, author of Mindset, reminds us becoming is better than being. Yeah, that's right. Resilient people don't just believe they can grow, they believe setbacks are part of growth. Do you feel that way? I mean today I'm at 1% energy level right now. Today came at me hard and fast. I feel beat up. And yet now comes the learning, when I get to reflect on my day in silence, evaluate the day and make a mindset change to adjust for tomorrow. And when tomorrow comes I'll be that much better. How about you?
Speaker 1:Here are three ways to build a growth mindset. One normalize discomfort. If you're stretching, it's going to feel awkward. That's not failure. It's formation, growth and comfort. Don't ride in the same car. Number two learn out loud. Talk about the mistakes you're learning from, share what you're figuring out.
Speaker 1:People respect leaders who are in process, not just polished. And the last point today is celebrate progress, not perfection. You're not who you were that matters. Look back on how far you've come and let that fuel your next step forward. Good job. Growth isn't always glamorous, but it's always worth it. So now that you're equipped, go, slap life in the face.
