#303 What is the best way to loose at leadership?

Aaron Havens Season 4 Episode 303

True leadership has nothing to do with titles or positions and everything to do with earning trust and influencing others positively. Some of the most impactful leaders don't have fancy offices or top positions, but when they speak, people listen because they've built credibility through their actions.

What is the best way to lose at leadership? Do you want to know? Welcome to message 303 of the Growth Instigators hotline, where we ignite your personal and professional development. I'm Aaron Havens, your host and growth coach. Winning Leadership Wednesday Influencing without authority.

Speaker 1:

Leadership expert John Maxwell said it perfectly leadership is influence, nothing more, nothing less. Well, you want to know the best way to lose at leadership? Wield your influence poorly, that's right. Sit on top of your throne and bark our orders to all the minions beneath your supreme power. Oh, real question have you earned trust in your circles?

Speaker 1:

Some of the most impactful leaders I've ever met didn't sit on top of the org chart. They didn't have the biggest office or the biggest voice, but when they spoke, people listened. When they showed up, people followed, because real leadership isn't about having power, it's about earning trust. So here's what influence without authority looks like in practice. Own your presence. Be the person in the room others can count on Steady, engaged, clear you don't need a title to model integrity and intention. Contribute before you're asked. Solve problems, offer help. Speak up when it serves the mission. Influence grows when people see you're in it for them, not just for you. And lastly, today, invite people in. You don't have to command to lead. Ask great questions, encourage good thinking, elevate others and you'll find yourself leading without trying to take control.

Speaker 1:

Here's what I want to ask you today. Pause and reflect. Where do I have more influence than I'm currently using and what's one way I can lead from where I stand today? Leadership isn't about position. It's about posture and how you show up. Thank you for calling Growth Instigators Hotline. I'd love to hear from you.
