#306 How you talk to yourself will either limit you or launch you
Your mindset is shaped by your self-talk, and the voice you believe most is usually the one in your own head. Aaron Havens explores how shifting from negative to constructive internal dialogue can transform everything in your personal and professional life.
• Compare how different self-talk phrases feel—negative versus positive
• How we talk to ourselves will either limit or launch us
• Three steps to master your mindset through better self-talk
• Catch the critic by noticing when you're being negative about yourself
• Rewrite the script with something true and empowering
• Talk to yourself like you would to someone you love

Which phrase feels better coming off of your lips? A repeat after me. Really for sure. Repeat after me I'm an idiot. Did that one feel good? No, I don't think so. Or try this one on for size, I'm a pretty cool human. Yeah, I agree, I know which one feels better to me. How you talk to yourself will either limit you or launch you. Welcome to message 306 of the Growth Instigators Hotline, where we ignite your personal and professional development. I'm Aaron Havens, your host and growth coach.
Speaker 1:Mindset Monday the role of self-talk in mindset mastery. You are listening to someone every day, and it's not your, not your coworkers, your boss or your family Nah, we all know us well. It's you, and the voice you believe the most is usually the one in your own head. Your mindset is shaped by your self-talk. If your internal soundtrack is negative, critical and full of fear, it's no wonder you feel stuck. But when your self-talk becomes constructive, hopeful and challenging in the right ways, everything starts to shift.
Speaker 1:Here are three steps to master your mindset by mastering your self-talk. First step catch the critic. Notice when you're tearing yourself down. No shame, just awareness. You can't change what you're not aware of. Ask those closest to you to say something like hey, easy, don't talk about my friend Aaron like that. No, for real, it really works.
Speaker 1:Number two rewrite the script. When you catch a negative line, replace it with something true and empowering. Instead of I'm terrible at this, try, I'm still learning and getting better. And last point today, talk to yourself like you would someone you love Seriously. If you wouldn't say it to a friend you respect, don't say it to yourself. Ouch, try loving yourself just as much as those you love.
Speaker 1:Here's one. Here's what I want you to do today. Pause and ask yourself what's one negative thought I keep repeating and how can I reframe it with truth today, you are not just who you are. You are who you are becoming, and it starts with what you believe about yourself. Thank you for calling Growth Instigators Hotline. I'd love to hear from you.
