#317 Mastering the art of follow-through

Aaron Havens Season 4 Episode 317

We explore how follow-through builds trust, momentum, and credibility, while examining why the highest performers aren't those with the most ideas but those who consistently finish what they start.

• Starting is exciting, but finishing is what builds trust with yourself and others
• Follow-through creates a track record that builds confidence and compound energy
• Commitment doesn't depend on motivation—follow through even when you don't feel like it
• People may admire your vision, but they trust your consistency
• You don't need more goals, you need more finishes
• Consider working quietly and consistently, then surprising others with your results
• Focus on what's most important and let other things fall away

What's one unfinished thing you can follow through on this week? You're a doer, you're a finisher. What you're doing is worth it. Go kick some tasks today.

Speaker 1:

Have you ever started something with big energy only to watch it quietly fade into the background? I don't know how many times I got all super excited, like I'm all in on something, and it slowly would just kind of peter out. Welcome to message 317 of the Growth Instigators Hotline, where we ignite your personal and professional development. I'm Aaron Havens, your host and growth coach. Top Performance Tuesday mastering the art of follow-through. Starting is exciting, finishing is what builds trust, both with others and with yourself. The highest performers aren't the ones with the most ideas. No, they're the ones with the fewest loose ends. Follow-through builds momentum. When you complete what you start, even small things, you create a killer track record that builds confidence and compound energy. I remember when people were impressed because I had recorded 30 Growth Instigator hotline messages. Yeah, now we're on 317.

Speaker 1:

Follow-through builds momentum. Follow through also builds and beats motivation. You won't always feel it, but commitment doesn't. Ask how you feel and ask whether you'll follow through anyways. And, believe me, in fact, just last night I was exhausted. I got into bed then raged out loud because I remembered I hadn't recorded a hotline message for the day. Yeah, you won't always feel up to it, though. And lastly, follow through builds credibility. People may admire your vision, but they trust your consistency.

Speaker 1:

There's a phrase I use with coaching clients all the time. It goes like this you don't need more goals, you need more finishes. That's right. It's not about being perfect. It's about becoming someone who closes loops and completes the cycle. That might mean getting super focused on what is most important and then letting the other things just kind of fall away.

Speaker 1:

What's one unfinished thing you can do? You can follow through on this week to build trust with yourself first and foremost, and then with others around you. Maybe just keep something quiet in the background and then the world can be shocked when it finds out you've done so much. This might be good. This might be a good approach if you are scared of letting others down. Instead of carrying that weight, just be crazy consistent, prove your follow through to you and then show us the final results. Doesn't that sound good? You're a doer, you're a finisher. What you're doing is worth it. Go kick some tasks today. Thank you for calling Growth Instigator Hotline. I'd love to hear from you. Leave a message after the beep or send an email to Aaron at growthinstigatorscom and, as always, keep instigating growth in all you do.
