Growth Instigators Hotline
#321 What if you’re not behind…
You're not behind in life, you're just on your own unique path. Comparison is a liar that makes us feel inadequate when we're actually right where we need to be.
• Comparison whispers that we should be further along, looking at others' progress
• Someone else's chapter 20 doesn't invalidate your chapter 3
• Growth is not a race - it's about continuing, and continuing counts
• Progress looks different for everyone - slower, quieter, harder to measure
• Most of us compare ourselves to a version of life we never agreed to
• Ask yourself what would change if you believed you're not behind but growing at your pace
Leave a message after the beep or send an email to aaron@growthinstigators.com and let me know where in your life you've felt behind and what grace looks like in that space. Also, what progress have you made that deserves more credit than you've been giving it? If your team is caught in the trap of unhealthy comparisons, visit our website and set up a call with me.
If you truly hear what I have to say today, it will be life-changing. Seriously, what if you're not behind? You're just building something that takes time. Welcome to message 321 of the Growth Instigators Hotline, where we ignite your personal and professional development. I'm Aaron Havens, your host and growth coach, mindset Monday. You're not behind, you're on your path. Comparison is a liar. It whispers. Things like you should be further. You should have figured this out by now. Look where they are. Imposter syndrome is a two-headed dragon that is aiming for your jugular and wants to take you out. But here's what I've learned you are not late, you're just on a different road.
Speaker 1:Someone else's chapter number 20 doesn't invalidate your chapter number three. Someone else's speed doesn't define your pace. You're just where you need to be and, as Happy Gilmore would say, it's all in the hips. It's all in the hips, baby be Gilmore would say it's all in the hips. It's all in the hips, baby. Don't stress yourself out. What you're doing is good. It's on pace. It's a bullseye. It's just what you need.
Speaker 1:Life is too short to go about it another way. Growth is not a race. It's not about catching up. It's about continuing, and continuing counts. Progress looks different for everyone. Maybe yours is slower, maybe yours is quieter, maybe it's harder to measure. That doesn't make it any less real, and you are allowed to be a work in progress Not perfect, not polished, but committed in in it becoming.
Speaker 1:Last week, I talked with someone who said I just feel like I'm behind in life. I asked them behind who? According to what timeline? We both laughed, but also paused because the question exposed something deeper. Most of us are comparing ourselves to a version of life we never actually agreed to. When I compare myself to anyone else, I'm not living my best life. Here's what I want you to do today Pause and ask yourself what would change if I believed I'm not behind. I'm just growing at my pace. You're not late, you're learning, and that's right on time. Thank you for calling Growth Instigators Hotline. I'd love to hear from you.
