#326 A gardener planted a tree in the wrong spot.

Aaron Havens Season 4 Episode 326

The mindset of ownership transforms results, as illustrated by a gardener who moved his struggling tree rather than blaming external conditions. Taking responsibility creates trust, accelerates growth, and gives us influence in both leadership and life.

• Parable of a gardener who took ownership when his tree struggled instead of blaming conditions
• "You can't lead what you won't own" - blame keeps you stuck while ownership moves you forward
• Taking responsibility doesn't mean taking guilt for everything
• Ownership creates trust because people need leaders who take responsibility, not perfection
• When you own your role in results, you gain access to valuable lessons
• Ownership gives you influence by pulling people together instead of pushing them away
• The question to consider: what's your "garden" today that needs ownership?

Speaker 1:

A gardener planted a tree in the wrong spot. It struggled, barely growing leaves, leaves turning yellow, constantly in the shade. Neighbors blamed the soil, the weather, even the seed, but the gardener said nah, it's on me. He dug it up, moved it to better light, fed it, protected it and it thrived. The gardener didn't blame the conditions. He took ownership of the result.

Welcome to message 326 of the Growth Instigator Hotline, where we ignite your personal and professional development. I'm Aaron Havens, your host and growth coach. Mindset Monday the mindset of ownership. That's right. Here's the mindset shift I want you to consider today.

Speaker 1:

You can't lead what you won't own. Blame keeps you stuck. Ownership moves you forward. I'm not talking about taking on guilt for everything. I'm talking about taking responsibility, especially when things don't go the way you planned. What would happen if we all owned what was ours to lead? No excuses, just honest, helpful and honoring conversations with ourself and with others. Yep, mistakes happen. Things can always improve.

Speaker 1:

Do you have a mindset of ownership? Ownership creates trust. People don't need you to be perfect, they need you to take responsibility. Ownership accelerates growth. When you own your role in the results, you get access to the lesson, and that's where momentum lives. Who cares.

Speaker 1:

If it's wrong, Try it. Just adjust and try again. Ownership gives you influence. Blame pushes people away, but ownership pulls people together. Hey, it's pretty simple. If you're a gardener and your garden isn't growing, don't just blame. Take ownership of your garden before it dies. So the question is what's your garden today? Where in your life or leadership do you need to stop blaming and start owning If your team is spinning and finger pointing instead of forward motion?
