Growth Instigators Hotline
#357 You don’t have to change the world in one day!
Attempting multiple habit changes simultaneously almost always leads to failure, while focusing on identity-driven habits creates sustainable transformation. The key to lasting change is building habits aligned with who you want to become rather than just what you want to achieve.
• Aaron confesses to once trying to develop six habits at once, resulting in wasted resources
• Professional golfers focus on process (technique, one stroke at a time) rather than outcomes
• Performance that lasts is built on identity-driven discipline, not just chasing results
• Focus on becoming a writer rather than just writing more
• Pick ONE area to grow instead of diluting your efforts across multiple fronts
• Attach new habits to your identity using "I'm the kind of person who..."
• Make habits small enough to repeat consistently
• Momentum beats motivation for sustainable growth
What's one identity-aligned habit you're ready to build this week? Visit growthinstigators.com or text 970-306-6432 to discuss how Aaron can help your team install habits that actually stick.
I once tried to develop six new habits at one time. Oh my gosh, I woke up with a gym membership, a new journal and a kitchen full of protein powder I used once. Can anyone relate? Welcome to message 357 of the Growth Instigators hotline, where we ignite your personal and professional development. I'm Aaron Havens, your host and growth coach.
Speaker 0:Top Performance Tuesday habits that drive growth. Okay, easy there, buddy, you don't have to change the world in one day. Here's the one idea I want to land today. The most powerful habits are the ones that move you toward who you want to become, not just what you want to achieve. I've been watching Full Swing on Netflix. It's a great documentary. It follows a handful of professional golfers.
Speaker 0:One idea that most of the golfers talk about is focusing on the process, the technique, one stroke at a time, not the results. Let the results take care of themselves If they win the tournament or not. Just focus on one stroke at a time. Just do your best. Focus on what you can control.
Speaker 0:We often build habits to chase results, but performance that lasts is built on identity driven discipline. You don't just want to write more, you want to be a writer. You don't just want to eat better. You want to be someone who treats their body like it matters. You don't just want to lead better, you want to be a leader who creates meaningful impact. So here's your move Pick one area where you want to grow Not 10,. One Focus Doesn't dilute your potential, it amplifies it. Now attach that habit to your identity I'm the kind of person who is way more powerful than I guess I should and then make it a small enough to repeat Goal.
Speaker 0:Small enough to repeat the best habits. Don't need height, they just need consistency, because momentum beats motivation every time. Do you want to grow?
